I will be ready in but a minute. As he finishes restowing his weapons in their appropriate scabbards, hangers. Ready now
How bad was Van hurt?
Vannevar DMNPC |
Vannevar is at full once again.
Vannevar moves silently towards the door, moving in that graceful way that only a dancer or an elf can move. Pressing himself flat against the wall he peers through the opening. Before returning to Silian.
"I can see nothing from this angle."
When everyone appears to be ready to move forward, he moves back into position next to the door, with Silian behind him before reaching out and slowly pushing the door open further without sound.

Once a temple to the sovereign lord Balinor, this shrine has been turned upside down in more ways than one. It is filled with pieces of shattered statues - icons gathered from across the broken district of Fallen. The heads of long-dead nobles are mixed together in a jumbled heap with the limbs of gods and bits of abstract art. Amid the wreckage, one statue stands intact. Made from polished white marble, it is a nine-foot figure of a beautiful, angelic man wearing flowing robes, one hand outstretched as if he is in the midst of casting a spell. It seems as if he might once have had wings, but all that's left now are jagged stumps covered with raw muscle and a few stony feathers. A tiny piece of the statue where its left eye should be seems to be missing.
A young man and a large blink dog face the statue. The man is chanting, but his words are strange, hypnotic nonsense - an eerie stream of consciousness that is a blend of words from a dozen different languages.
Silian d'Thuranni |
Silian shrugs as flames manifest in his hand. Before saying a word he launches the ball of fire at the blink dog.

Whether or not the flames hit the beast, Silian calls out in Common, "Do I have your attention? This tower has been quite the nuisance. I would love to just collect what we were hired for and be done with this place."
DM Twilight |
Silian's ball of fire sails wide but does manage to draw the attention of the young man who turns to look at you with a strange mixture of tortured madness and ecstatic joy on his face. "What do you want here?" he cries out, seemingly puzzled by your appearance.
You may level your characters before continuing with this scene if you wish.
Akasha |
Having not been answered, nor further assaulted, the young man takes a few shuffled steps towards you. He pauses and looks back over his shoulder before heading back to where he was standing, facing the statue he begins to chant again.
"The statue.." Akasha says calmly, bracing herself for some sort of maniacal reaction.
That was the answer to his question. Akasha was bracing herself for him to go ape$#!+ when she said that.
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Jonah looks around in a bit of confusion, So what was it you expected when you called him out?
He readies himself and his spear when he asks this question.

I misunderstood what you were saying, but ultimately the response you get is the same. Your words just don't seem to make sense to him and he turns back around.
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Jonah questions Akasha quietly So what was it you were hired to get ? As well, I think breaking that statue might be a bad idea.
All the while keeping his spear ready in case the oblivious man tries to attack.
Silian d'Thuranni |
Silian rolls his eyes at the fanatic before the statue and speaks to Jonah, keeping his eyes on the man and the wretched dog. "We were hired by the Lady Tela to retrieve an object stolen from her home, specifically, a hand of a statue... though she had mentioned higher pay if the entirety of the statue could be retrieved."
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Still a little confused, Jonah continues to look around the room, while still keeping an eye out.

The young man turns to you with a glow upon his face and speaks in an excited voice, "It's taken us two years to collect this much of Sythrael. He's not quite complete, you see?" He says pointing towards the left eye. "I haven't yet been able to locate the last piece."
Suddenly, his demeanor changes once more, "Who are you and what are you doing here? What have you done with my people?"

"Oh this is wonderful. I am Silian d'Thuranni, marked by shadow. I am here on behalf of my employer to retrieve the... statue of Sythrael. And if your people are the rabid lunatics infested in this fallen tower, I assisted in ending most of their lives. And you are?" Silian keeps his scimitar out and his eyes on the fanatic.
DM Twilight |
"Yes, those were my people... now, anyway. I'm Junius and..." The young man grimaces before his face lights up once more, his demeanor becoming more plesant, "I'm Hilegard. You said you've been employed to fetch Sythrael? No doubt by one of the thieves who have held a part of him over the years. Help me to find the last piece instead! Help me and I'll pay you twice whatever it is that your employer offered!" Once more, the young man takes on a dour expression and no longer seems to be looking at any of you when he speaks, "Will you stop that?!"

So, what the dice roller is telling me, is as long as I don't play a cleric, or attack it will behave.
Seeing his change in stance and mood, Tava readies spear and dagger.
Eyes narrowing, Tava watches the man and the Brash elf, ready for danger.
Jonah d'Tharashk |
Jonah, cringes slightly away from Silian, expecting a bolt from the blue, but otherwise keeping quiet and letting the others carry on the conversation.

Silian's question seems to confuse the young man for a moment, and in that moment his features change to fear. His eyes swing from the group, to the dog by his side, the the giant figure of Sythrael looming overhead and he cowers taking a few steps backwards. He doesn't get far, however, before another change occurs and he lets out a contemptuous harrumph, "Because I'm trapped here in this... place, but it makes no matter my duties are here with Sythrael."
Jonah, you may refer back to the last perception spoiler.
DM Twilight |
In an enthusiastic voice, "Just imagine all of the things that we could learn from him, though."
Which is curtly followed with a sharp rebuke, "Shut up, Hilegard! Will you stop speaking with these intruders!"
Defensively, "How can you not see the potential right in front of you, Junius?! Do you not wish to see Sythrael made whole again or not? We're getting nowhere and we are stuck in this place. Surely these people are better equipped to find the last piece than are your raving lunatics you send out?! Now calm yourself, you're frightening Kol."
Silian d'Thuranni |
Silian speaks calmly, "Os bydd y cerflun yn cael ei gwblhau, gallai olygu dinistr i Sharn. Os bydd y idol dod yn fyw... nid ydym yn cael eu talu. Yr wyf yn awgrymu ein bod yn rhoi'r gorau clun."
To the others, Silian speaks in Common, "While Sythrael lacks the final piece, we have an advantage." Silian's hand is aflame once more as he launches a bolt of fire towards the insane speaker.
