I just added Serket, my familiar, to my profile and completed the languages known. I read through the entire game play thread. I hope I have the opportunity to play with the party. I was impressed with the role playing throughout. I feel like Demise would be a perfect addition if chosen! Please let me know if you want me to tweak anything in the build or backstory. MM

"Demise" |

Ok. I was in a creative mood this morning and excited about my witch. I wrote an entrance post to aid in helping him join the story should he be accepted. I took some creative licenses. If nothing else, I hope you guys enjoy the read. It gives you a look into Demise's mind and motivations.
During the last war, a group of elite soldiers from the Karrnathi army accompanied by a few handpicked priests and mages from the Blood of Vol broke into a creation forge located in Cyre. Their plan was to create warforged necromancers to fight alongside their armies. In the process, several dark warforged were created. Different spell components were combined during the experiment. Only a few warforged were successfully created. One, who was created using dark magic combined with a live death scorpion as a spell component, would be called "Demise".
"Demise" arose from the forge a frightening sight, a black warforged creature with red glowing eyes whose head resembled a skull. The Karrnathi were please with their creation. They placed powerful compulsion magic over him to ensure his "loyalty" to their army.
Demise returned to Korth with his creators and spent a year training with their necromancers. He excelled in power and knowledge over the humanoids and was soon sent to the battlefield. Once on the battlefield, he was changed. One night while his companions slept and he watched over them, a jet black scorpion crawled out from his armor near his chest. To his surprise, it spoke to him telepathically. It convinced him that he was a slave to his creators and that he had been gloriously made to rule, not serve. Night after night, his new "friend" would counsel him. As time progressed, he grew to hate the nation he fought for. Bound by powerful compulsion magic, he was helpless to escape though.
Then came the day of mourning. His platoon was advancing to their next position when it happened. All Demise remembered was a bright light and then darkness. Shortly after, a heavy fog set over the land. Around him all he could see was death. He was the only creature that survived whatever had happened. He also immediately realized that the compulsion that bound him to Karrnath had been dispelled.
The next few years were a blur as he traveled aimlessly, trying to find a place to start over. His only companion was his scorpion who continued to teach him dark powers. It was a hard time in the warforged's life. People often treated his kind with contempt. Adding into the equation his unique looks, he was ostracized and treated with contempt. His disdain grew for humanoids. When he heard of the City of Towers, he definitely knew it was the best place for him to hide and grow in power. He had decided along the way that he would never be enslaved again. The greater he grew in dark magic...the safer he would be.
Veiled in a dark cloak, he and his scorpion familiar arrived in Sharn with very few possessions. On his first night in Sharn tragedy struck again. He was in a tavern when a couple of thugs attempted to intimidate him. He reacted swiftly using his slumber power to drop two of the men. He attacked a third with a sharp scream that left the man unconscious with his eyes and ears bleeding. The local authorities arrived in time to save the men. Demise was taken to the local jail. During the night, hooded men came and blindfold Demise and carried him off. Chained in manacles, he was led away.
Let's see how long you last here witch! Was the last word he heard before his manacles were removed. When he removed his own blindfold, he saw a place that looked like the cities in Cyre after the Mourning....devastation. He had arrived in the Fallen!
Demise stood and surveyed his new surroundings. Even for the Warforged witch who had seen much destruction in his service to the Karrnathi army during the Last War, the sight was disturbing. Devastation He thought to himself. I must still be in Sharn...We didn’t travel far. We didn’t hear a spell cast either, so no teleportation magic. They were probably a street mob anyway. Possessing no supernatural gifting like yourself. The familiar voice of Serket, his scorpion, joined the inner dialogue. True. From my study of the City of Towers, we must be in the Cogs or worse yet…Fallen. Serket climbed out from the inner pocket of Demise’s cloak onto his shoulder and hid in a crease in the hood. I’ll help you keep an eye out. I expect trouble. Demise nodded to his friend and responded in a somber whisper. ”If they come, they will regret it.”
It must have been early dawn or nighttime. The dim amount of light that dared pass through the multiple layers of towers to reach the streets of Fallen was all but gone. If not for the few lanterns hanging periodically, it would have been pitch black. That was fine with Demise. He embraced the darkness. Not to mention that it provided safety as he navigated his way around his new home. Crouching, he slowly moved from shadow to shadow attempting to avoid detection. As he passed the first few blocks, he saw very little sign of life. There were a few raggedy clothed humanoids here and there huddling around small fires. He took extra care not to draw their attention. After several more blocks, he realized the scenery hadn’t changed. Broken down buildings and debris were the common backdrop. As he turned one corner though, he saw several men standing over dead bodies. ”Yep…Someone got them…their skulls be crushed." Demise halted in his tracks, but it was too late. The quick change of pace made too much noise as he kicked a pile of rubble onto the street. ”What weres that?” "I hears it to!" ”Come out sneaky person. We won’t harm ya!” The group of men laughed at the last statement.
Demise crouched around the corner as the men slowly approached. Thinking quickly, he began to speak arcane words silently, “Narsis Shirak” Dancing Lights He pointed to an alley a block away and four globes of light appeared. He bounced them down the alley a bit. ”Look! There he went. He got him a torch or sumthin.” ”Oooh…Maybe he got some goodies.” The men immediately turned and ran after the light. Demise took the opportunity to jog down a side alley away from the danger. Ahead, he saw a temple with dim light peering through a window. The temple appeared to serve as some type of fortress. Taking a chance, he jogged over and opened the door. As he entered the church, he was surprised to find that it was mostly dark and empty. At one time, it would have been filled with hundreds of parishioners, but they must have been stripped away long ago. They were now replaced by dust and shadows. In the corner, a rather large Warforged sat at a small table reading by candle light. The light shined off his Copper cast.
Interrupted in his reading, he turned to the black hooded figure. ”May I help you good sir.” Demise stepped forward and drew his hood back just enough to show a bit of his shiny black complexion. In a hissing tone attempting to bluff the priest, ”Why yesss my brother. I am looking for someone who proceeded me here...” The Warforged stood. I am Blaze. I am new here. You call me brother. Are you a follower of Onatar, the sovereign of forge and flame?” The hood shook slowly side to side as Demise responded. ”No my brother, but I am a fellow Warforged. We are bound by our creation...No? Blaze’s orange eyes looked a bit confused by the statement. ”I have recently come to Fallen and have decided to serve the hurting people here. I was originally with a group of travelers who had been commissioned to find the hand of a statue that had been stolen. Did Kaelys Tal send you?” A sly smile appeared from under the hood as the witch responded. ”Why yesss. Where can I find these companions of yours?” Demise pulled back his hood and displayed his skull like face. He was a much smaller Warforged than Blaze. His body was made up of onyx colored material that reflected the candle light as polished stone. His eyes cast an eerie red hue on the front of his cloak. His looks startled Blaze a bit. ”I have met few Warforged. You are unusual. Is your function heavy duty combat?” Once again, Demise smiled at the Warforged’s words. In his mind, he heard the words of Serket, ”See…they are ALL mindless pawns. You are special.” Demise responded, No…I possess other talents.”
”Either way…may Onatar bless your travels. They went to Corac Hall. It is an old manor. Here are some directions. It is easily recognizable by the spire jetting out of its northern hall. Blaze jotted a few simple directions on a piece of rice paper and handed them to Demise. Demise took the paper, memorized it, and then slid it into an inside pocket of his cloak. He pulled his hood back over his head and turned to leave. Glancing back, he addressed the priest one last time. ”I will be sure to tell your friends how helpful you were...brother.” The last word left a bitter taste in Demise’s mouth. Yet again, he was reminded at the uselessness of the other Warforged he had met….mere slaves to the humanoids they served.
It did not take long for Demise to find the manor. As Blaze had described, a large crystal spire sat on the northern third story hall. He cautiously climbed over the broken double doors into the main entrance. Just then, he heard screams and commotion coming from the rear of the manor. He exited the way he came and headed down the side of the manor to a back entrance. A small door led into a hallway. Ahead, he heard the sound of battle…

Demise, since you are not only the only one so far to submit a complete concept and you have shown to be very creative, flexible, and eager, I would like to welcome you to the group! I've sent you a message, please read it before posting.
Thank you everyone else for the interest you showed. If in the event we need more characters later, I shall return to this thread again.

Demise, don't forget to drop the lowest roll from each set, and then the lowest of all of the sets. And if you want to keep your familiar be prepared to use it as a feat slot.
Didn't I do that above in the black? I do not want the familiar. I am planning on doing a Warforged Cleric of Lord of the Blades 1/Fighter the rest of the levels.

Gothnique, at the bottom of the text box is a button you can click that says "How to format your text". If you click on that it will give you a list of html that can be used in the forums, including how to insert a link.
Oz, welcome, I look forward to what you have to come up with. I mentioned to Gothnique in a private message that I'd like for you guys to post in here asking the rest of the group that is currently playing what it is that they would like to see in any new characters that join. I've found that that is really the best way to go, as I've seen a lot of really excellent character ideas get passed up simply because it didn't fit in with what the group needed/wanted.

Ok got it! That is very helpful! :)
First off I would like to Play a Kitsune and they are charisma Dex based so I picked Bloodrager, its a mix between barb and sorc. Its a hybrid class from pathfinder. I originally wanted to be a kitsune witch doctor but they are wisdom based. So picked this. If there is any other suggestions, or if the party needs something else, I am open to other ideas. Would like to play kitsune but I am open to changing Class.
So Here are some ideas for background/coming in ideas? But I am open to suggestions?
I have Elven as a language and an Elven deity that I would like to be apart of character and So an idea for background is to be dropped off at some kind of Elven settlement or city type place that takes me in and that's how I would learn Elven and How my Deity comes in. But I don't know of any Elven places or people. I would like the reason to be dropped off due to war and it was to save my life or by a celestial due to being an offspring so they hid me away from their world to this one and picked the elven place. So suggestion would be lovely? :D
So to come in I had this idea:
I have read the gameplay, I was thinking since you are currently trying to get to sleep and there seems to be things abnormally happening with wear you are at. I figured I could be locked up in the tower somehow somewhere as a prisoner or stuck there somehow due to me exploring and wondering into something I shouldn't have, then getting knocked out and waking up possibly bound or chained or caged and you guys stumble across and me looking for adventure and you guys saving me join or something like that? Or any other Ideas I am up for! :D Looking forward to hearing responses, Ideas, Suggestions.
PS: New to post to play and Still figuring the site out. I love role-playing, Ebberron, Dnd in general, trying new things, and Making new Friends! :D

I think the group has definitely been needing a healer, but again, I leave it to them to vote. I just veto if I don't like where things are going, lol.
The group comes on pretty sporadically. So it's really a matter of they'll see it when they see it, I know most of them on facebook so can send them a message and ask them to come look when they can. I've also posted in the discussion asking them to come over to the recruitment.

I actual just finished and posted the character its under alias Ayumi Syphex. If you want to check it out. Its done except still finishing background depending on what we go with on entrance and if any suggestion to above ideas
I like her, she's VERY cute, and should be a lot of fun. If she's as curious as you say, finding/rescuing her would make sense since she seems the type to get in over her head if left to her own devices.

Yes, she does seem that way. :) Normally she can get out on her own but when knocked out, it could make it harder. What about the suggestion on background story idea i had above? suggestions? and i dont know much about the locations and such.
