Dawn of Worlds Rules

I'm looking to recruit for another Dawn of Worlds similar to my Izopa Game.

In this all of these Gods are being blatantly stolen/rescued from their worlds, some weren't even gods before this.
I have two players already:
Antariuk playing, Karmesh
and
Kenji Elindir playing The Divine Twins, Atresse and Zurakar

How to Apply:
I will be selecting players based on deity concepts.
I need,
Deity Name/Title
Domains or Purview
General personality and attitude
Background story

Even Gods from Earth Mythology or other stories is fair game.
Each player can try as many concepts as they like but will only be able to play 1-2 Deities.
Aside from some house rules on the Dawn of Worlds Rules there is one other important note, Hexavos is a very powerful Overgod, he is not really bound by the rules as he is the one who sets them, he prefers to play along but he may exceed the abilities of other gods for the purposes of creating a rich and interesting world.

For the sake of transparency, and to make it easier for other players to see which portfolios are being used already, here is Karmesh:

Karmesh
Titles The Eternal Judge, The Lightbringer, The Father of Destinies.
Domains Celestial (Sky), Destiny (Herald), Fire (Wrath), Law (Pact), Nobility (Leadership), Sun (Light).

General Personality and Attitude
Karmesh is the essence of light and justice. He is a stern god, bound by duty and by order, but his divine fire will only burn those who have darkness in their heart. His watchful eye protects all those who heed the order of things, and he is the patron of righteous leaders.

Background
Karmesh was a divine spark once, a star in the night sky fighting the all-encompassing darkness of Eternal Night. Over time, many stars fell down on the world or changed position, but not Karmesh. His light became brighter, a tiny beacon of order, far away, for those who knew where to look. But Eternal Night grew with every aeon, and Karmesh watched the essence of countless living beings swallowed by it, until his anger grew into a divine rage. Leaving his position for the first time, he charged across the sky, fire in his gaze and wrath in his heart.

Eternal Night fled, for Karmesh's divine fire was too bright for it to swallow him. Across the four cournes of the world, and all the heights of the sky, Karmesh chased Eternal Night, until it sought refuge under the world, far away from the touch of his light. Karmesh took a vigilant watch, expanding his light until the whole world bathed in his essence. Never again would he allow Ethernal Night to reign again!

But the land and the people suffered, for Karmesh's light was too bright and his judgement too harsh for the world to bear in eternity. And so Karmesh, the Lightbringer, made a pact with Eternal Night. To bring order to the world, he would forgo his position for one cycle, allowing Eternal Night to cover the world again, so he could bring guidance to the spirits in the underworld. Thus, Day and Night were born, the time of Karmesh, and the time of Eternal Night.

Grand Lodge

The Divine Twins, Atresse and Zurakar

Atresse - Goddess of the Sun, Divine Magic, Righteous War, and Family
Titles The Star of the Morning, Lady of Silver and Gold, The Shining Blade
Domains Good, Magic (Divine), War (Tactics), Protection (Defense), Sun (Day), Community (Family, Home)

Personality Atresse is the spirit of the fierce love that parents show toward their children. She is the willingness of a person to put their life on the line to protect other people or their homeland. She is the sun giving life to all the things in the world. Atresse is righteous, but not sanctimonious. She'll fight for good, but not just to fight. She is kind to all those she deems friends, but an implacable foe. Her primary concern is with the livelihood and defense of all the races, not just ones she creates. Atresse's greatest joy is when people live together in harmony.

Zurakar - God of the Moon, Knowledge, Arcane Magic, and Language
Titles The Star of the Evening, Lord of the Rune-Carved Stave, He Who Watches All
Domains Law, Magic (Arcane), Rune (Language, Wards), Artifice (Construct), Darkness (Moon), Nobility (Leadership)

Personality Zurakar is the embodiment of the progress of civilization and the mind. He is the font of knowledge the races draw upon to create just law. He is the moon giving light to the world in the black of night. Zurakar is erudite and somewhat arrogant. He prefers to talk rather than fight, but will do so if pressed. He is more concerned with magic, language, and technology than anything else, and is usually somewhat distracted with working on these things. Zurakar's greatest delight is to come up with a new way to do something.

Background
Atresse and Zurakar were born as deities. Their parents were the God of Time, Borandur, and the Earth Goddess, Erena. Borandur and Erena had already created the world by the time the twins were born. Atresse and Zurakar were born into a war between their parents, and Goltares, the god of destruction, who was also Borandur's brother. Each side had many other gods fighting on their side, and the war continued for ages. Eventually, Goltares gained the upper hand, and began to unmake the world. A final, desparate attack was launched, and it would decide the fate of the world. Ultimately, the attack failed and Goltares victory was complete. As Borandur and Erena died, they used the last of their power to send their children to a far off plane where they could, perhaps, make a new world where life could flourish.

Atresse and Zurakar complement each other, rather than being opposites. Together, they are gods of the two facets of civilization, good people and just laws. They are the sun and moon above, keeping celestial order. They are the two sides of magic working together.

Now Atresse and Zurakar seek a place to build a world that won't be destroyed by entropy and dark gods. They are still somewhat scarred by the events they have endured. Of Goltares, the twins have seen no sign.

Side Note: Zurakar isn't a god of darkness, but there's no plain old moon domain, and he's the moon god to Atresse's sun goddess. Maybe something like an alternate darkness domain for him like the alternate death domain for Pharasma would be in order if I'm chosen. Or maybe even a full on moon domain.

Dyrm

Titles: "The Shadow Weaver", "Smuggler of Delights", "The Laughing Mask"

Domains: Chaos (Protean), Charm (Lust), Darkness(Night), Trickery (Deception), Liberation (Freedom) and Luck (Imagination)

General Personality and Attitude:(CN) Dyrm has the personality of a trickster god, but it has yet to be seen if he has the cleverness needed. He is whimsical and mercurial but can be oddly devoted to those that win his love. A god of chaos, he loves meddling for fun's sake but there is little malice (or charity) in his doings. He encourages mortals to cast off their inhibitions and have a merry time and to embrace change (even if it isn't always the wisest thing to do)

Background Story: Dyrm remembers little of his past existence before he was brought to this 'new here'. He remembers beautiful women warm and willing. He recalls laughing at those who sought to catch him. He knew the clink of gold spent all too freely.

He remembered there were gods of light battling gods of darkness, each so determined to master all that they never took the time to ENJOY the godhood they had. He remembers how hiding from the light, and leaping out of the darkness were shadows, those bits of stuff that dared to warp and bend outside the lines that had been drawn. He remembers trying to collect the shadows in something, was it a cup?

Yes, he drank it and then he laughed too loudly, and gods of light and darkness turned their gaze upon him and he ran. And he wound up at the 'new here'. Yes, that's exactly how it happened...maybe, probably, perhaps.

Perhaps his memory is not so reliable, but he at least knows who he is now- He is Dyrm. He is the darkness that stretches into the light, and the light that allows shape in the darkness. He belongs to both and neither, and he knows not how long his godly essence will last in this new world, but he intends to enjoy every minute of it!

Edit: I had posted before I saw the Zurakar details, but hopefully they don't overlap too much. I figured I'd go against type and have a 'shadow god' who really wasn't that bad (Or that good, but hey). I imagine Dyrm might be annoying to lawful gods. I think given a choice between favoring good gods or evil ones, he'll favor the good ones as they'll be more likely to go easy on him if he crosses a line :) "Lovable Rogue of the Gods" is what I'm trying for here. The gods of light and darkness in his backstory are probably another plane all together, but no doubt he'll find both the Sun Gods (Altresse and Karmesh) interesting and safer to deal with if he has at least three ways out of the room. Any god of pure darkness with evil bent will probably scare the #$#$ out of him not that he'd admit it.

Interesting concept, Dyrm. Combines aspects of the trickster and the eternal wanderer, I like it!

Grand Lodge

You're not stepping on Zurakar's toes at all. He's LN, Dyrm is CN. Zurakar is a god of civilization, technology, the moon (specifically the fact that it gives light in the darkness), and the arcane, while Dyrm is a shadowy trickster god. The only domain we even crossover in is Darkness, and Zurakar only even has that domain because there's no plain old moon domain.

@ Antariuk, I'm glad you like it! I wasn't really pushing the eternal wanderer angle but now that you mention it that certainly could be another angle to him. I can certainly see him encouraging a migration in a people or nomadic lifestyle just to keep them from getting dull ;)

@ Kenji, thanks then. I've done anything quite like this, but when I've DMed for my local groups, the godly development and interactions were among my favorite parts.

I may try my hand at a second deity to increase my chances of getting in.

Belisous

Titles: "The Mad One", "The Untimely End", "The Old Doom"

Domains: Death (Murder), Evil (Fear), Fire (Arson), Madness (Insanity), Destruction (Catastrophe)

Personality:(NE) Belisous is a goddess of death and destruction. She knows that everything must eventually be destroyed, and so she destroys as much as possible. She has had many forms over the years and takes whichever one will suit her best for her current deal. She is the voice whispering the night that offers power to those who will murder. She is the stray arrow that slays a hero before his destiny can be realized. She is the pyre that burns the innocent because of fear. Her favorite method of destruction remains fire, but she is willing to use anything to destroy. She does all of this so that she might return the universe to it's proper place in her twisted mind.

Background: Belisous was born a goddess of goodness back when the universe was young. her face was that of porcelain, and two beautiful wings of pure white feathers grew on her back. She received a sword made from the heart of a dying star to be her weapon. She grew in power, and began to fight back against the darkness that had once been everything, but her greatest triumph was to be her downfall. Belisous slew a great lord of darkness lording her kill over the rest of the creatures fellows, when the darkness wrapped around her. Before she could even think she was encased in a black cocoon. Time passed and the goddess's wings grew feeble and fell off. In their stead two giant wings of fire grew on her back. Her blade became corrupted with the power of the site becoming something that screamed for death. Her pure face began ravaged with the scars of battle, but her mind was the greatest loss. Where once light had reigned in her mind only madness was left. Born from that cocoon was a new goddess armed with a dark sword who would show everything her pain.

Ahem..
YIKES

Edit: Sorry, that wasn't very helpful of me. Belisous definitely sounds like a lesson learned about 'pride coming before the fall'. Any goodly god is going to have his or her hands full with her. Dyrm might be tempted to work on the edges on any conflicts that arise between them, or just tweak stuff inappropriately to keep things interesting.

I think Karmesh's Eternal Darkness has a new name. En garde!

Not every evil person is evil because they want to some are evil because of chance or a moment of pride.

@Antariuk
Who knows? Maybe she will encourage Karmesh to shine his light down forever. Just because she likes destruction doesn't mean she needs to be the destroyer ;)

Oh, sneaky... I doubt he'd make the same mistake twice, but who knows, in a new world with new rules?

Scarab Sages

Umm... Badly want a part of this. Wow! All the time I have missed a system like this...

Will come up with a concept soon. Right now I'm thinking maybe a god of balance,a god of magic, or someone LE.

Changing one thing about Belisous. She will no longer have destruction (catastrophe) domain instead it will just be the destruction domain.

Ah, I thought the subdomains were more 'options' that our eventual clerics might get. I may have to tweak some of my own as well

Only reason I made that change was because I wanted Belisous to be more about pure destruction rather than destruction caused by a natural phenomenon. She would be fine with a natural cause of destruction, but that isn't her main Modus Operandi. Fire is her main thing.

Wow, I am impressed with the concepts and pleased to see the collaboration right from the start.
Of things that come to mind, I would wonder if perhaps Belisous prefers for things to become 'ripe' before destroying them? Perhaps as an remnant of her old self or just a matter of personal taste.
The other gods would likely accept that if Hexavos brought her to the new world there is a damn good reason for it.
What do you think?

Yeah, she wouldn't start even thinking about destroying in the very beginning. The destruction would come out when races finally started appearing in the world (what's the point of destroying the world if there is no-one around to see it?).

Makes sense to me, since I didn't get a ctulhuesque 'Eater-Of-All-Things' vibe from her. Also, more drama in later rounds.

Scarab Sages

I don't like mucking up the forums with extra aliases, so won't make one until I'm chosen, but--Presenting Eyero (I-yer-O)

Eyero--Graverobber, Lord Necromancer, The Tyrant, The Corruptor
LE
Death (undeath), Law (tyranny), Magic, War

Eyero does not want to see the world burn--He just wants it to be HIS. He has been to many worlds, each time trying to take dominion over them. When one is finished, he moves to the next.
Now he has set his power-hungry eye here, and he will do everything he can to make it view under his heel (lawful as in he rules his subjects with an iron fist--rules don't apply to gods).
Eyero will never design a new race of creatures. Rather he will bend others to his will and raise them as intelligent undead when they have died off.

I suppose he might consider deals with other gods as binding, but I don't know yet. Probably depends on how much they threaten to undermine him if he doesn't. Better to work in rules you don't like than have everyone work against you.

How many gods are you recruiting for this game, Hexavos?

Grand Lodge

The other one has like 6-7 players, I think. If everyone in here was selected, we'd be at 5.

7 would be my top I can run with 4 if necessary. Either way there is still plenty of room.

Nimeton
Titles: The Ever-living, The Story Collector, The Youngest.
Domains: Community (Family), Healing (Resurrection), Death, Knowledge (memory), Repose (ancestors).

General Personality and Attitude: (N)
Nimeton is very inquisitive, always trying to watch and see what is going on. Nimeton is always looking for a new experience, ever passing from one life to the next.

Background:
Nimeton is very nearly a Deity. It is passing always from one mortal life to the next. Nimeton exists as the spark of consciousness in all things, because of this it has married, divorced, murdered, and gave birth to itself. Nimeton is neither male or female as it hasn't chosen a form. It has only to experience life as every being on the planet to be raised to full Godhood, however many are left (gm's discretion).

For Nimeton time is not linear, as Hexavos may send Nimeton from a 43rd century soldier to a gatherer in a pre-historic hunter/gatherer society. With every incarnation Nimeton is able to recall more of its previous lives, from mass murderers to peacekeepers.

With Nimeton nearing its raising, it has become aware of the other deities in the universe.

(I will create the alias when I get the go ahead from the GM)

Thanks. I was considering submitting another god concept along with Dyrm, but didn't want to "crowd the place"

Oh multiple concepts are encouraged. Players can play up to 2 gods if I select both gods and there is the option of raising your avatar to demigod status and then deity status in game to build the pantheon.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Okay then. Here's the second concept after Dyrm

Omaz Almas

Titles: "Chief of Mountains" "Storm Keeper" "He who dwells"
Domains: Air (Cloud), Animal, Earth, Glory, Strength, Weather (Storms)

General Personality and Attitude:(N) Omaz Almas, god of mountains and the storms that spring from them, seems largely indifferent of the affairs of others, and to a large degree this is true. As long as outside forces threaten not his mountains and valleys and the beings dwelling within them, he minds his own quite well. However placid he may first appear, he can have a terrible temper when finally pushed too far.

Background Story: Omaz Almas had been among the first of the gods to rise, and he took some silent pride in being among the last who would die. For over a thousand years before the end time, he had fallen out of disfavor. He was 'too primitive' a 'simple nature god'. Yet, when the world doom came, it was civilizations that broke first. Cities crumbled, nations broke apart and their people scattered. Fine machinery ceased working.

The Mountains held.

The gods of civilization, despite their finery, fought only to wither like vineyard grapes in a drought. They called Omaz Almas, asking for his the aid of his thunderbolts. But to join them, he would have to leave his mountains and valleys. And Omaz Almas realized that if he was to die fighting, he would make his stand here, where the last of his worshipers remained. So while he readied his lightning, he waited.

He could hear the death screams of other deities, and still he waited. The only goddess he had ever loved had ceased to be some time ago. For her? He might have left his dwelling. But she was a memory now whispered only in the fluttering leaves of autumn.

Then the World Doom came for his hills.
And Omaz Almas threw himself against it, with all the might of the mountains, with all the fury of the storms! But it was no use, the end of all is not to be denied, and so the mountains crumbled, the valleys flooded with dust, and all about him began to un-be. Omaz Almas kept fighting, and readied himself to die.

Only to find himself waking up among the first mountains of a new world. Somehow, he had cheated prophecy, or rather, someone had cheated it for him.

Alright I'm going to make my decisions tomorrow so one more day for concepts and players. Nothing is final until I post results.(barring of course the two players who have already been selected.

Ok, if a second god is allowed, I'll try this one. Totally not inspired by MTG's Golgari guild, I swear.

Nyakushuur
Titles The Eternal Growth, The Self-Eater, She-who-lives-in-death
Domains Animal (Fur), Darkness (Night), Death (Undead), Healing (Resurrection), Plant (Decay, Growth), Strength (Ferocity).

General Personality and Attitude: (NE) Nyakushuur is the embodiment of growth, the eternal circle of life and death. She doesn't know morale or ethics, all she knows is blind hunger, the need to devour and to reproduce. It is within her power to create both life and unlife, because to her there is no such thing as final death. Everyhing within Nyakushuur's realm will come back, in one way or another.

Background Story:
Nyakushuur was not born as a single entity, but rather formed as the result from the unwilling amalgamation of two opposing deities. Syramaliel, a goddess of nature and the green, fought with Kiserreth, a necromancer so powerful he had become divine in his own right.

Where Syramaliel planted trees and gave birth to the creatures of nature, Kiserreth spread disease and formed terrible beasts from bone and decay. Their war raged for centuries, then aeons, and neither of them could find an advantage over the other. But their fight had a terrible price, not only on the world, but on the deities themselves as well. Focused on the single purpose of outgrowing each other, both Syramaliel and Kiserreth lost parts of their divine portfolios and power. Clashing with a ferocity not seen before in the divine realms, they became two aspects of the same, life and death, and unwillingly they both formed the entity known as Nyakushuur. Syramaliel and Kiserreth are gone, their essence devoured by Nyakushuur, but also reborn in the living and unliving creations spawned by her.

Dark Archive

Pyreous
Titles The Forgefire, the Engine, The Fire of Creation
Domains Artifice (Construct), Destruction (Catastrophe), Earth (Metal), Fire, Luck (Imagination), Protection (Defence)

General Personality and Attitude [N] Pyreous is the fire that drives creation, a cyclic deity he drives discovery and fires the imagination for a time, the destroys what is built, to see what survives and create a motive to discover anew. Invention does not progress without necessity.

BackgroundPyrous was once a mortal man, who achieved great things, the greatest of his endeavours was taming the two primal energies of creation and destruction and claiming them for himself, as he did Pyrous the man ceased to be, and Pyrous the god was born, forged from the essence of creation, destruction and at it's heart a mortal man.

Good luck folks

Sometimes waiting is the hardest part

Sorry for the wait guys, busy day.
So Decisions, decisions.
Chosen deities are:
EVERYONE!

The luck is the number of deities and players did not exceed my cap and I think we have a balance of deities that would work well in the world.
I will set up the map soon and we will start gameplay once it's up. I will open up the discussion thread right away. Any ideas on the world name? When I get a world name I will form a campaign title.

Please feel free to bring Divine debates and ideas here.

Whoa. I'm running two then. I'm not sure I'll be able to live with myself ;)

Thanks

You don't have to run both if you don't want to but you can.

Oh, I'll try both since you are letting me :)
