Alright, Proving a touch harder to make this build work than I thought it might be. Questioner Investigators still appear to be subject to Arcane Spell Failure. Shield and Mage Armor are not on the Bard spell list either so those are off the table without wands and UMD. Looks like my best bet would be a set of Darkleaf Leather armor which would drop ASF to 5%. I'm hesitant to pick up Arcane Armor Training or Still Spell due to already being a feat starved build.
If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. This is the first time I've actually had to deal with Arcane Spell Failure.
That seems like an oversight on the designer's side. I'd just request permission to be able to use Light Armor (but not shields, as you don't start with proficiency in them) without spell failure chance.

I've been thinking about it and figured I can suck not easily casting for a few levels until I can get my hands on a better armor. I was going to add finding out fate of the previous person to hold this particular office and collecting their rather specialized equipment as a character goal anyway. Djezet Skin given an interesting name and backstory could be suitable.
