Do any of the trogs in the room have any metal on their person? Any weapons?
Novid Sin Eater

"Come now friends go back to what you were doing we are trying something that will be a surprise should it work." Novid says.

The present troglodytes are clearly rattled by Novid's harsh words but are a bit comforted by Ss'alat's words and don't seem to have any intention of leaving the Godbox, more troglodytes show up all excited to see the great sacrifice which is happening.
So are you guys going forward and try to insert all doors?
Eladrian
|
Lets go for it!
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
"Just you wait! We are making an amazing offering to the god box. Be patient, and allow us to work, or even help us to honor the great god box by assisting us! Yes, That's it~ Help us give the god box the greatest gift of metal that it has ever received!"
Ss'alat
|
Ss'alat addresses the assembled Troglodytes again:
diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
And whispering to the others: "And I think it's a good idea to leave them as our NUMEROUS friends before we have any unfortunate misunderstandings!"
Revvy Bitterleaf

The troglodytes seem fine with letting you offer more metal to the godbox.
As Novid put on his small sword sheated at his belt you retrieve the third door, as Novid passes through the door his sheath raises into the air as he feels the pull but it seems to be alright..then as you move closer towards to middle of the room the pull becomes stronger and more powerful the closer you get
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
At this point the pull becomes so strong that Novid is pulled towards the center of the room, which right now isn't so bad since that's the direction you were going in already anyway. The sudden pull causes you to become unbalanced a bit though, but you as a group quickly manage to correct the weight distribution of the door and prevent it from tipping over and falling on top of someone.
Then as you get close enough to insert the door the pull on Novid sword is so strong it's not able to be resisted at all and it sticks to the pillar with an audible clang. The sword is now stuck to the side of the pillar, with Novid still attached to it.
Novid counts as being grappled right now. You could relative easily get free as a full round action by taking off your belt
Assuming Novid gets freed and you continue with the doors;
As you insert the next door the device lowers the tone of the Godbox’s humming and slightly increases its volume, as does the door after that one. And the next one.
With each door inserted the troglodytes seem more and more excited, some of the now (16 total) troglodytes hop from one foot to the next.
Just need to know if Novid (or someone else) decides to bring along more metal into the room before placing the final door
Torrag Grimm
|
Torrag is just watching in awe at the whole situation. Though the influx of Troglodytes is a little unnerving and probably a bit smelly too.
As the last door is just about to be put in place, Torrag will use his wand to cast Shield on himself, just in case the whole situation goes bad.
Ss'alat
|
Speaking loud enough for all to hear over the excitement of Novid's mishap:"Well done, Novid! Excellent choice of sacrifice to the holy Godbox!"
bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
And whispering to the rest again: "I really think it's a good idea to leave NOW, while the Troglodytes are our friends! Their numbers keep increasing! And my gift of the gab has its limits!"
Revvy Bitterleaf
|
Do the doors block the pull at all?
Other then giving you more weight to resist the pull - which only works till a distance of about 5-10 ft from the pillar, if you come closer the added weight doesn't do anything - the doors do nothing
Giving you a few hours to respond to Ss'alath suggestion, afterthat I'll have you insert the last door and we'll see what happens
Revvy Bitterleaf
|
As you slide the last door into place the noise stops and the magnetic field ceases, causing all the objects stuck to the exterior to fall to the floor with a clatter and all the light-sticks on the level to go dark.
The troglodytes go into a frenzy
"You killed Godbox!!!. We kills you now!!!"
I ran out of colors for individual troglodytes, so had to resort to thicker and thinner outlines

"So much for my carefully crafted diplomacy!" Ss'alat thinks in exasperation.
He will cast Hideous Laughter on the (thin red line) Troglodyte directly in front of him to prevent it from making AoO when he enters the Godbox room.
Hideous Laughter is DC 18, Will save negates. I don't think the Trog will get the usual +4 save bonus against its effects, mostly because of Ss'alat's bloodline arcana.

If the initial troglodyte is still here then he saves at +2 DC. Hammer is up and I can take up to 3 AoO from movement through threated squares and standing from prone.
Gunnar moves quickly when he notices that the troglodytes are mad at them and casts a spell to buy his friends some time while warding off the troglodytes with his massive hammer.
Revvy Bitterleaf

Just to check since Gunnar is doing 2d6 damage with an AOO ..you are carrying and wielding your hammer? ...cause that changes things a lot, because that means you were/are carrying metal with you in the room with the pillar at the time it's active while you carried the door and slotting it in as opposed to everyone who carried the door leaving their metal behind

If everyone else left their metal behind so did Gunnar. But in that case I actually won't cast Ice slick but go for sleet storm. That covers the whole room (at least) and will allow us to get outta here..

Sorry, I never updated the tag line, did I? Out of armor, my ac is 12.
Acrobatics/ Withdraw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Acrobatics/ Prevent AOO by door: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Surprised, Eladrian takes the first round of attacks stoically and disengages as soon as he is able. Twisting, turning, and bobbing, he struggles through the door and immediately grabs his bow and arrows from the stack of gear the party left behind.
I am not sure if I am allowed two acro rolls in the same turn.. but I put them up there just in case. In my mind, the first roll is disengaging, and the second is getting through the guy by the door.. separate actions, separate rolls. If you just want to go off of the first, thats cool too! The modifier reflects the lack of any encumbrance and no check penalty.

Our weapons were in the other room, and that was the only logical thing that came to mind. Do you have another suggestion?
Torrag Grimm

"Can your Godbox do this, you filthy troglodytes!?!"
Torrag casts Stone Call centered at the far corner of thin yellow as to get the whole room but not through the door I'm standing at.
Bludgeoning: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
No saving throw and the affected area is now difficult terrain for 4 rounds. Sorry to the allies caught in it but I'm going you can take the damage better than them.
Ss'alat
|
Ss'alat will step forward in front of the Troglodyte he incapacitated with Hideous Laughter (thin red) and cast Burning Hands (DC 15, reflex half) facing West.
burning hands: 4d4 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 4) = 12
not bad!
That should catch Thin Red, Thin Black, Thick Red, Thin Grey and Thick Yellow in the 15 foot cone AoE, if I've figured it out properly.
Eladrian
|
Eladrian will provide covering fire next turn.. once we get organized we can easily repulse the attack by forcing them through the doors as chokepoints.

Gunnar summons forth an sleet storm inside the room
Let's assume you somewhat coordinate this so it goes off after Eladrian's turn since the sleet storm; Driving sleet blocks all sight (even darkvision) within it and causes the ground in the area to be icy. A creature can walk within or through the area of sleet at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move in that round, while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details).
@Eladrian;I think you can make multiple acrobatics checks during your turn. but in order to actually get through the door behind one of the trogs you need to beat the trogs CMD+5, since he's blocking the exit..so that 13 isn't enough to get you out of the room
Eladrian dodges out of the way of the troglodytes near him but then stumbles into one troglodyte blocking the exit
Torrag casts Stone Call centered at the far corner of thin yellow as to get the whole room but not through the door I'm standing at
Which right now effects Novid and Eladrian and Gunnar. Unless Gunnar changes his action to moving, then casting the sleet storm it means he needs to make the acrobatics check to move himself through the sleet storm as well, as well as beating the trogs CMD+5 to be able to move through the trog's square to make it out of the room, but since this is doing damage to party members this basically falls under pvp and I'll only allow the action if the people taking the damage are ok with it. It's a very good spell to cast right now so if they are fine with taking the 6 damage you do a lot of damage to the enemies, but they still need to be ok with it
Also a some people seem to be confused about the turn order since Gunnar tried to do something before it was his turn , his first turn just came up. He didn't get to do anything before now. And Ss'alat also posted another action, his second turn isn't up yet, so sorting through that now. I didn't want all the trogs to go at the same initiative, beat some of you and just swarm/overwhelm you..but splitting up their turns seems to have confused some of you....so most likely all of them will delay after this

I am ok with the damage.. that seems to be the most effective thing to keep these trogs off of our backs for right now. However, someone in that room should get my wand of CLW ready to start tapping people with it...I for one am going to need it! We can sort out charges to individual wands later, if that's ok with Revvy. If its not, we can work something out after the battle.

"Everyone out, I can cast it again. If you can't get out, stay against the Eastern wall."
Gunnar Graubart
|
Fine with stonecall. However looks like Gunnar will be caught in his own sleet storm as he has no way of beating CMD+5 with acrobatics as he has no ranks and a hefty ACP. Can Gunnar attempt to attack the Trog standing in the door or can folks outside attack him?
Acrobatics1d20 - 3 ⇒ (10) - 3 = 7
Gunnar tries to push his way out of the sleet storm realizing it would have been a better move had he gotten out of the room first.
Gunnar Graubart
|
Nope but no big deal. If I move to the wall I won't be affected by stone call and my AC should keep me safe for a while. Also if folks kill the guy blocking the door I could actually get out...
Revvy Bitterleaf
|
Because sleet storm blocks vision they dont threaten so you can just go thorugh the square because they wont see you. To my knowledge.
As far as I know by RAW, you still need the acrobatics check vs CMD+5 to be able to move through someones square even if they can't see you, they just can't take at AAO against you. I can't find anywhere that mentions that being invisible allows you to move through someones square. But I'll admit that's open for debate and in order to move things along let's just allow it until I can find a rule saying one way or the other
@Gunnar, everyone can attack the creature in the doorway...but everyone has 50% miss chance now due to the sleet storm
Revvy Bitterleaf

Gunnar starts to cast a spell
AOO vs spell casting: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
which draws a reaction from one of the troglodytes next to him, but the creature is so upset about the Godbox dying that he almost trips over in rage
The entire room is then covered in a sleet storm preventing Gunnar himself from moving.
Torrag then lets it rains down stones in the entire area, adding hail to the sleet.

Most of the trogs cry out in horror

@ Revvy; I'll skip Burning Hands. For now. Playing it safe instead.
Ss'alat will cast another Hideous Laughter the Troglodyte directly in front of him (thin black; DC 18, Will save negates).
He will then take a 5 ft step back, to give room for Eladrian and Gunar to get out of the Godbox room.
And to avoid becoming part of the front line himself, of course.
Revvy Bitterleaf

Ss'alat casts another Hideous Laughter the Troglodyte directly in front of him sort of debatable, since your target is inside the sleet storm and you can't see him....but let's just roll with it
will save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
which fails horribly and ends up laughing out loud
Novid moves out of the room.
None of the troglodytes are able to see, have just been pelted by big stones falling from the skies while their precious Godbox just up and died on them seconds ago. They all scramble around trying to make it to one of the exits..expect for one, who seems to have gone insane and is laughing like a crazy man.
