Aren Starlight
Well, one last feat clarification and Aren is done. Since she won't start with any gear that works well for me. Less to hassle with.
gyrfalcon
Hey TSP can you give us a sense of your timeline? (When you expect to start play, when you want our characters ready for review, and anything else you need)
I know you warned up front that you're busy -- and a campaign this complex is a TON of work to run -- so not trying To rush ya, just excited and curious! ^_^
gyrfalcon
Hey Aren, have you settled on your familiar yet? I just realized that a Small Positive Energy Elemental (which I *think* is available via Improved Familiar, though it's 3pp content so would need DM's approval) would be awesome for you.
I love the idea of Aren being followed by a little bundle of positive energy...but the biggest practical side of it is:
A positive energy elemental radiates an aura of pure positive energy around it. (See the table for the area each elemental affects.)
Within a positive energy elemental's aura, class abilities that use positive energy, such as positive energy channeling or the Turn Undead feat, function as if the user were 2 levels higher. Additionally, spells and spell-like abilities that use positive energy are maximized (as if the Maximize Spell metamagic feat had been used on them, but the spells don't require higher-level slots). Spells and spell-like abilities that are already maximized are unaffected by this benefit. This aura does not affect the positive energy channeling ability of the positive energy elemental using it, and its effects do not stack with those of other positive energy elementals.
Within a positive energy elemental's aura, class abilities that use negative energy, such as negative energy channeling or the Command Undead feat, function as if the user were 2 levels lower. Spells and spell-like abilities that use negative energy, including inflict spells, require the caster to succeed on a Concentration check (DC 15 + the level of the spell). If the check fails, the spell does not function but is still lost as a prepared spell or spell slot. If the check succeeds, the spell functions normally.
In a less gonzo campaign that could be overpowered/cheesy...but it seems downright humble next to many of our party's abilities.
You may well already have your heart set on a different familiar...but I wanted to throw this out in case it caught your fancy. ^_^
Aren Starlight
That is an amazing pet but I would have to switch out a feat for that. I had settled on a half celestial familiar. Was thinking Thrush aka a Robin.
As it is all of my positive energy things are empowered.
Aren Starlight
Heh, maximized empowered healing is very tempting. I will think on it. As it is I am waiting to see if I will need to spend 2 feats or one for my build.
gyrfalcon
Tark, some buffs I can see being useful (to Kezra, and possibly others) on an as-needed basis:
* See Invisibility could be really handy some day (and generally can't be given by other classes since it's range is Personal)
* Freedom of Movement
* Resist Energy and/or Endure Elemements >> I suspect as we plane-hop through the realms, we'll end up wanting to resist various energies with some frequency, and that's one area where Kezra is lacking. (As an aside, I notice Alchemists get Communal Resist Energy...that either suggests to me that one infusion can in some cases effect many people...or whoever created the list really screwed up).
. . . all of this is to say I don't know that I'll need any one infusion every day, but I think if you keep the ability to use them, they'll get used
These extracts wouldn't do much for Kezra, but might be great for others:
* Stoneskin for folks who don't already have DR
* Spell Resistance for folks who don't already have SR
* Some source of flight for those that lack it
That leads me to a question:
What roles do y'all see yourselves playing? In particular, do any of you expect to spend some time casting party buffs either before or during combat?
As for Kezra's, he will most often be flying around and smashing face. He loves to make full attacks (and due to the Mythic Champion's Fleet Warrior ability can fly for 130' and still make a full attack).
Secondarily he'll be providing some battlefield control, either through a 30' radius combat patrol and/or through a reverse gravity aura.
In the language of Tark's Forge of Combat essay, Kezra is 70% Hammer, 30% Anvil.
And for what it's worth, Haste and Heroism are two buffs that'd help Kezra a ton...but would probably help many folks and so make more sense for someone to cast as spells (rather than for everyone to drink as their own extracts).
Aren Starlight
Well, Aren is primarily a healer. Her combat is limited via blindness but she has some ways of sensing people out. Though if you have any protections versus divination then I believe I will not be able to see you anyways.
Many of her buffs if she prepares them will be based around protection.
On quick glance she is a very much an arm.
Theresa Allenmore
I suppose I'd be an anvil, using a servitor, a companion, and debuffs to support the hammers. This actually helps me with some decisions I need to make. I could be a backup hammer as well if I focus on touch spells and buy good armor/items with dodge or nat armor bonuses, since I'd have minimum three attackers at my disposal (even if the GM wants to control two of them).
I've kinda been tied up with family stuff as of late so I'm not quite finished, but should be able to work on this more tomorrow.

I'm still here and interested! As I alluded to last week, I party every Thursday and generally do not post. Easter weekend, with all the holiday rush and family intensive moments it has, kept me occupied until yesterday, when RVT and I finished up playtesting the last encounter for the current adventure. Had to tweak that particular encounter five times, and each time, different battle plans were used. I like to make sure I don't TPK players that early in the game. Oh, and I helped my exchange student friend with her English paper. She's such a sweet girl, I didn't want her to make a bad grade because English is her second language and we structure our sentences VERY differently.
Kezra, I will allow you to make use of Foe-Biting. Err on the side of awesome, my quantum-bending friend!
Aren, I have almost finished converting Vow of Poverty for you and will be playtesting how strong it will need to be at GOD LEVELS! Do I hear a 'Mwahaha!' yet? If you want to take more Vows, I can beef them up too, though they will not be anywhere NEAR as strong as Vow of Poverty.
As for the Repose Domain, YOU will be the deity with the domain! You make your own interpretations on that!
As another important note, ALL options for familiars listed under Improved Familiar are available to you all, without the feat. The Positive Energy Elemental is approved! If anyone wants to propose equal CR creatures besides those listed, just let me know. Same applies to animal companions and other 'class pets'. There will also be an Epic Familiar feat later that allows PCs to have familiars at or under CR9 (Or was it 10-ish?).
On a related note, all Summon Monster (X) spells can summon any extraplanar creature of appropriate CR, including named Outsiders (Such as Pukwudgit, a Quasit Rogue3/Assassin4!). Summon Nature (X) is similar, applying to Beasts, Magical Beasts, Elementals, and Fey, named versions included (Such as Rapturous Electra, a Clockwork Nymph!).
I am aware that these homerules are considered OP, but you're all playing UPCOMING DEITIES! I think that allows for some creative license, right lol?
I'm also considering allowing PCs 1 free Horrifically Overpowered Feat, as per the RGG's Genius Guide to Horrifically Overpowered Feats and it's sequel. I will consider it anyway! :P
Aren Starlight
Heh, well considering I don't know the changes I will wait to see the Mwahah, after all, It does come with its drawbacks too. I spent an hour getting a lecture on why I was being detrimental to the party/myself. I will look at the positive energy elemental, Does that mean the +3 CR you can add in templates still stands?
Kezra Tern
TSP, thanks for the update. Consider me excited! I'll extraawesomize my scimitar based on your guidance. ;-)
Aren, BTW, who's to say your familiar isn't a glowing thrush, infused with your divine light, who is mechanically identical to a small positive energy elemental (plus whatever awesome template you add to it)?
Kommandar, not sure if you saw it, but I'm trying to compile a list of all of our domains and I'm missing yours.
TSP, any opinion on domain overlap? RVT at one point wondered aloud in the recruitment thread about whether or not to allow/minimize it.
And unrelated, I wrote a tracking subtitle for my profile. I dislike tracking HP & other resources in my tracking line since it means editing my profile every time my HP go up or down...and at this level, even for a martial with one class, there was way too much to track there anyway. I took a tip from Trazzle's status line in RVT's group, and made the Google spreadsheet linked above. Hopefully it'll help me (and TSP and anyone else who's interested) keep track of all his resources.
EDIT: Cosmos' Edge, scimitar of the God of the Stars, has been extraawesomized, as foretold. All crunch (including equipment) now 100% ready for review.
Hasta manana!
Aren Starlight
Imagine Extreme munchkin telling me all the ways that a feat hurts the party and myself in the long run because it fit the flavor of my character. Let's put it this way. I now know how to kill my character twelve different ways ^.^ It's okay. I like her anyways.
Hmm, I like the idea of the positive energy thrush that can talk :P I was originally going to give the template half celestial. Extra little spell casting to assist.

Small positive energy elemental
She mentioned up thread that a friend gave her grief for playing a non-optimized character.
Kommandar Killjoy
Hey guys, sorry fir the quiet week. As it turns out looking for a place to live is taking a lot more effort than i anticipated and the stress of not knowing where you are going to live in two weeks can be overwhelming, add in easter and ya.. Sorry.
Domains: Glory "(heroism)", Law "(loyalty, slavery, tyranny)", Nobility "(aristocratcy, leadership)", Trickery "(ambush, deception, trickery)", War "(tactics)", Black Powder Inquisition
apparently your spreadsheet does not like my phone :(
Aren Starlight
GM you want me to have Repose domain over Renewal?
Kezra Tern
Kommandar and Theresa, good luck finding a good new Demiplane home...and Theresa, with the new job as well.
Domain sheet has been updated by someone. Thanks!
BTW, Gobo, I was in Jelani's Witchwar campaign (that you first created the Kommandar for, I believe. I'm glad to see he's really going to get played...and that I'll be there to see it. ;-)
Kommandar Killjoy
Thanks for the wellwishing :)
I expect it to be quite the interesting demiplane ^-^
I had to go back and try and figure out where the original Kommandar came from, i had forgot! Ya, I remember that one now :) Sadly I never got in :(
On a related note, I got lots more done for the Kommandar and am getting things compiled together (finally! Everything was spread out over 4 different aliases...) All i have left to do for the Kommandar is: Items (Gulp), spells and touch up the skill section. Then go over everything to make sure the dual alias is good and up to snuff.
BTW on The Kommandars page, the first 2 spoilers is his crunch, 1st for on his own, and 2nd for when he is in his tank. I figured that was the best way.
You guys should open up the following profiles and unspoiler all the tabs, just to see how much was written o.O It truly was a labour of love...
So of the guys who was traveling with Kerza during his adventuring days, who all is there? I ask because I need to know what i can count as others having crafted for me. (then I can finish off the items section)
And I want to write a little bit about my Adventuring Days in my backstory :) Its the last that is really missing.

And finally, here is GabberJabber, my Goblin Herald (and cohort).
Mostly, I have only gotten crunch for him, with bits of fluff regarding him floating around out there.
He is a CE Goblin Rogue 15, Mythic Trickster 1.
He runs around proclaiming the greatness of The kommandar, denounces his enemies, and when all else fails, pops a cap in your face and heads for the hills!
Kezra Tern
I think we've established that Naga was with us, and he's an uber-crafter and willing to craft 100% of your stuff at half off.
The folks who I know were there: Aren, Hanuhpah, the Kommandar, Naga, and of course Kezra. Theresa and Ferun are of course welcome to say that they, also were part of that party, and that perhaps we've adventured together on and off for several years.
GM Eternity's Steward
I'm loving the characters! I will be running a final review of your crunch soon to make sure everything is calculated correctly.
Also everyone, which Outsiders are you most interested in working for/owing a favor to? The options are Inevitables, Aeons, Proteans, Psychopomps, or one of the Genie races? This will determine the flavor of Cycle Zero, which is essentially the 'prologue' where everyone can RP and meet their patron.
Aren Starlight
Umm, none of those really fit Aren that I can tell on first glance. But if someone requests something of Aren for the greater good of all she is more than happy to help. Ill look through them though to see what I can find if it is needed.
Ill work on my "thrush" positive energy elemental. Are you okay with it being able to talk? I was thinking her thrush is a lesson to herself not to OVER HEAL anyone.
I haven't finished crunch just yet. I'll wait until you have the feat finished to do that. Happy to see we are getting ready to start.
Kommandar Killjoy
Since Aeon is neutral, it seems to fit the group as a whole better than any of the other extreme outsiders. However, the Inevitables would work great for The Kommandar.
Now another thing just hit me. I AM a summoner. That means I can summon things. and bind them. Now heres the thought. Would I be able to summon some creatures (Im thinking of some of the Inevitables, thus owing them a favor or something, and some others, like elementals or big nasties) and then bind them into hollow bullets using Minimus Containment. Then have the release clause be when the bullet breaks (aka after being fired). Now I would only have a handful of these (at most) and they would be my clutch bullets for when the stinky stuff really hits the fan. To do this I would have to work with you on the matters of them being summoned, the release triggers/conditions, any bargins, Cost, and even after that, once the bullet is fired (or destroyed some other way) I dont actually have control over the creature, rather just hope it wreaks havoc on those it just got freed beside.
The Kommandar is a collector of bullets, and the thought of him collecting powerful outsiders in bullets is appealing :)
Im thinking.
an Inevitable, with the promise of only being fired against a creature of great chaotic energies.
A few elementals, for an extreme boost of power for that shot. Im thinking of a Fire elemental sealed into a +1 Planar Flaming Burst bullet for example.
A pit fiend or other devil. This one would be bound forcibly and against its will. It would be contained in an Unholy Bane bullet. I would call this one "Hells Fury". Considering that I trapped it against its will, it probably hates me. And considering the effects of keeping such a potent force of evil closely with me... Damned if you fire it and Damned if you dont XD
This could create some interesting senarios, for example. I just shot a fire elemental at a group of corrupted trees. After the elemental consumed the trees, it sees us and decides that we would make an interesting desert. Now we got to fight the elemental as well.
Another example. I fire the Hells Fury bullet at a group from the Church of I-Didnt-Know-They-Were-Actually-Evil. After the bullet kills the guy I just shot (from damage), the Devil decides to help them kill ME. The encounter just got harder...
Kezra Tern
I'm fine with Aeons.
TSP, if you haven't reviewed Kezra's crunch yet, this doc is where I store/work on his profile...and it has lots of calculations in the margin (e.g. +31 Init = +20 DEX +4 feat +2 swashb init +5 mighty, and +61 to hit = 20 BAB + 20 DEX +6 swashb weapon training +5 Enh +10 mighty +1 competence -1 size -0 defensive -0 power attack (myth fur focus)).
If you give me a gmail address, I can even give you the ability to comment right on the doc.
Kezra Tern
In Kezra's case it's 20 (as I understand the character creation rules RVT laid out; TSP can certainly correct me if I'm mistaken).
I annotated in the doc I linked to above as "8 [@ lvl 5 from 8 outsider HD] + 12 [L6-17 swashbucker] = 20 BAB" ...but to explain here a bit less tersely:
* At L5 he's a 8 HD elemental, with an 8 BAB (since outsiders get fast progression).
* Then for the next 12 levels (6-17) he gains BAB as a Swashbuckler, i.e. 1/level.
So at L17 he gets 8+12 = 20 BAB. (And yes, Monster Levels mean all kinds of wackiness, which is why I took the time to "show my work" in that doc, and why I look forward to a review from our illustrious GM...or any of y'all. Don't be shy, and I'd be shocked to find I didn't get *something* wrong on a build this gonzo!)
Aren Starlight
Yay, I am back. Lost internet for a couple of days at the house. Okay I should be able to work on my positive energy elemental in the shape of a thrush instead of a ball.
I didn't take leadership so I don't have the worry about followers and such. Though thinking about it the feat would fit her. Maybe later.
Okay so since we can still discuss backgrounds. I know how Aren ties in with Kerza a bit. Helping Kerza survive and sorta piece back together in the tombs. I think that also ties Hanuhpah and Killjoy because they were there. I don't know if anyone else was included in that. BTW Kerza, nice backstory.
I kept Aren's simple since she was a simple person and doesn't really talk much about what she does. To her, she is a Healer and not much more.
She helps any in need even those she doesn't agree with hoping to sway them to good with acts of kindness. So how would the rest of you see Aren coming into your background stories?
