Dungeon Master S |
Hail!
I'm excited for this trilogy. I haven't run it since it was new, so it's nice to revisit it. Can you guys do me 2 favors?
1. Double check your initiative at the top, make sure it's correct.
2. Repost your complete PFS information here? Sorry to make you do it over again, but it makes my life a lot easier!
Dungeon Master S |
In case people are switching characters, I will need to recalculate the subtier. I'll be back from TotalCon Sunday night. My fiancee is visiting her sister, so I can still OD on Pathfinder then. That means I'll make the opening post Sunday night.

Oh man, I hope Colleen never runs into Hun...
You might get your un-wish. I'm still cogitating on it, though Oggil's presence here means someone's descending the mountain in part one the hard way if she does. ;)
My other CORE possibility beyond Bully would be Colleen Ravenhair - Fighter 1 (She's very likely, given the nautical bent of chapter 2.)
All the other CORE characters I would want to bring (all levels 1-2) are either preoccupied, redundant or both. And while I have other characters I'd like to play (Agirran just got his first (water school) wizard level to go with his greataxe) they are all decidedly non-CORE (sour-faced inquisitors, easy-going Big Lebowski-like oracles, beer brewing Brian Blessed evangelist clerics, clever flowing kitsune monks, and near-evil admixture evocationists).
I'd almost recreate the cleric but part of his charm is he can make beer on demand in standard play and can get the party moving with all of his evangelism mojo.
*Sigh* If only CORE included the Advanced Player's Guide as well.... And Ultimate Combat. Oh, and Ultimate Magic too. Maybe Advanced Race Guide, and....
For the record I've played/am finishing this trilogy with Devil-Hunter Kraww, my devil and undead hating tengu ranger who stares a bit too long into the abyss.

It's probably a good time to do a recalculation of the Subtier since Auri is out. (I wasn't kidding I'll run you guys up to level 13 2/3 so if you want in it can help to make sure we stay relatively close.)
Go ahead and reply with your exact level:
Thiera:
Oggil:
Dupine:
Piper:
Hun:
Bullwhip:
Piper Azine |
Piper is currently level 4. I could whip up a new level 1 if we need to do the low tier, but I think Thiera and I can keep Oggil safe with mage armor and the like.

Piper: 4 0/3

Hun is 2.2 (8 adventures all with this crew, no GM credit) though I would love to dump some other single adventure charicter credit into him!

FYI, I had a hankering for a non-Pathfinder game, so I'm recruiting for a Forgotten Futures game (rules-lite steampunk), focused on a Reptilian conspiracy. Recruitment is here, if anyone is interested.
Dungeon Master S |
Looks like we'll start this tomorrow. Don't forget to let me know you're exact level for planning purposes!
August Dupine |
August is now leveled up to 4 - I was thinking I was waiting for level 2 rogue, but then went with monk anyway... go figure!
I would like to spend 1600 to get 10 pieces of ammunition from the Trouble in Tamran chronicle. I would also like to apply the 5% discount once per adventure from the Season 7 Faction Journal to reduce this to 1520. If that's cool, then he will get 10 shurikens, as follows:
1 +1 holy (limit 1)
3 +1 Human bane
3 +1 seeking
3 +1 flaming
He will also pick up some special material shurikens.
5 cold iron (2 gp)
5 silver (11 gp)
5 adamantine (301 gp)
He will also pick up:
- a backpack (2 gp) cause he didn't have one yet
- climber's kit (80 gp)
- 2 alchemist's fires (40 gp)
- 2 vials acid (20 gp)
- 50' silk rope (10 gp)
- grappling hook (1 gp)
- cold weather outfit (8 gp) - just in case the wand breaks
Total purchases: 1995 gold, leaving August with 431 gp

Bullwhip's not one really one for water and all (the second adventure in the trilogy has a lot of that), I would bring my foul-mouthed Ulfen eldritch knight/pirate wanna-be but he's not CORE. Which leaves me with Colleen from Fuzzlefoot's game who is all of 1.1 right now. If you're shooting for higher tier. I can just pass on the trilogy and see everyone next week when you guys finish. ;)
Dungeon Master S |
Let's see what the APL is with colleen.

Dungeon Master S |
Thiera: 5 ?/3
Oggil: 1 ?/3
Dupine: 4 0/3
Piper: 4 2/3
Hun: 3 2/3
Bullwhip/Colleen: TBD
If it's Colleen, it's APL 3.
If it's Bulwhip, it's definitely high tier. You could always buy some gear to help. Did any of the wizards learn Monkey Fish in the other game?
Oggil Redhand |
Oggil is current on 1xp.
I'll maybe put some gmxp on him when I finish some more core games - make him less of a liability.
Dungeon Master S |
I'm now ready (getting the downloads wasn't easy with the Humble Bundle.) I'll stick with the plan. Once someone posts that they start the final climb, we advance.
Great Green God |
I'm gonna pass guys. This isn't really Bully's cup of tea and Colleen's really not much help at her level and I'm sure folks are tired of fighting dire rats and skeletons. Besides you've got a new dwarf sidekick. ;)
Dungeon Master S |
Hey guys, I'm going to be gone from Friday afternoon to late Sunday. I'll be on a snowshoeing hiking trip in Northern Vermont, where my connectivity is spotty at best. I'm guessing I won't be posting until I get back.
Dungeon Master S |
Good Question, with Bullwhip out I didn't redo the difficulty. I'm already on the road for the weekend, so if you guys don't mind doing the calculation while I'm gone I'd really appreciate it...
Piper Azine |
We've got 4, 4, 5, 3, and 1, for an APL of 3.4. That rounds to 3, and for this early of a season, that means for 5 players we play down.
Snap. If I'd known that, I would have whipped up a new level 1.
Oggil Redhand |
Ahh QFP is season 3, so they didn't have the four player adjustment?
It seems harsh having to play down when that is only because of Oggil's presence.
I can bow out if you like to let you play at higher tier. It's not like Oggil is likely to be contributing much to the actual battles, just his obtuse dialogue.
Piper Azine |
I wouldn't want anyone to drop, but I'm wondering if maybe we're still early enough that I could switch out to a new character. After all, the only thing I've accomplished is Knowledge checks, and that didn't tell me anything I didn't already know from playing in Standard.
Dungeon Master S |
Hey guys, I'm back.
So this puts us in a sticky situation. We've already rolled initiative and we're in combat now, so I'm not sure switching is appropriate. Dropping is also an issue too.
I don't want us to delay TOO much, but I do want to make sure people are having fun.
There is a compelling reason to play the same characters for the who trilogy though... After Part I, this exact party would be Subtier 4-5 for the rest.
Given that, are people okay with playing this one at 1-2 and parts 2 and 3 at 4-5?
Once we confirm I'll start back up again.
August Dupine |
I am perfectly happy to play down on this one too. I actually leveled up sooner than I meant to because of when my GM credit came in.
Hunwald Stormheart |
No issues here... Sorry for my slow posting of late...I'd explain but you wouldn't believe me!

Hunwald Stormheart |
It involves the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joe Dunford... and little ole me briefing him on some things I cant discuss!
Dungeon Master S |
I seem to attract that kind of player. :-) I turned in my clearance for a teaching license a long time ago. But thank you for whatever you do!

Dungeon Master S |
I'm away for the weekend until pretty much Monday morning. I'll pick up then. If I'm a player, feel free to GMPC me. If I'm the GM, I'll be back ASAP!
Dungeon Master S |
Hey guys, I'm back and ready to go. That being said, This week is going to be insanely busy for me a few days. This most likely will delay us getting Part II up and running as I think we'll finish Part I before that.
Wednesday: Driving down to NYC to see Iron Maiden. I won't be checking the boards at ALL Wednesday until Thursday afternoon.
Weekend: Normally I'm pretty good about posting on the weekends, but I'm the chief referee for a tournament this weekend, and my tournament weekend begins right after school Friday, so I'll be off the boards Friday afternoon until Monday morning.
Oggil Redhand |
Enjoy! It sounds busy. Watch your head though, having been a medic at the local ACDC concert, I can assure you than men of a particular age who forget they are not 20 years old any more, have no business being in the center of the mosh pit.
Dungeon Master S |
Ha! This is my 20th Maiden show. I did my tour in the front row in my teens and twenties. Now I buy seats close to the sound board so as to maximize my musical enjoyment.
Dungeon Master S |
Is anyone leveling up now at the end of I before we start II?
Oggil Redhand |
Level 2. Yay! If I do this right, I may even hit level 3 for part 3. Maybe.
Oggil Redhand |
I'm guessing the monastery was not abandoned more than 1000 years ago?
Did we find any valuable gems (500gp+)?
Otherwise I'm probably FJCless.
Piper Azine |
OK, I should be leveled up. I'm borrowing Thiera's spellbook to scribe Haste, and taking Ray of Exhaustion and Displacement as my two free spells. Also taking Spell Focus (necromancy) and Heighten Spell as my feats.
Dungeon Master S |
It hasn't been abandoned that long, nor did you find any gems of that value.
I THINK I can do chronicles during office hours today, but judging by the panic on my molecular bio students faces, that might change...
This also pushes us to Subtier 4-5 for part 2.
