Jax you got to study the gnome with Detect Magic what did you find?

DM, 'Cellia' did the same with the cleric before the play, did anything come up?

Remind me again when this happened? Because I pointed out that Detect Magic has limited duration. So it was "cast in public" or "cast well in advance". IMS you did the latter, which meant you didn't get to look at everyone.

Xen you can fake drink, its very easy to do, its not even a skill, I do it nightly with clients.

Detect Magic's duration is concentration, but only up to 1 minute/level. You can't cast in the middle of a crowd without it being obvious that you're casting. I think you could reasonably cast outside and then come in, so you can get a look at the Magister and the good Father. The Commander is the last to arrive, so not him.
Fair enough. The magister and then the cleric please. About thirty minutes before the intermission could Cуровую cast Detect Magic from the bathroom one more time and try for the commander or the gnome on stage? Or would any other characters (the Judge, Jax or Xen) want to try to inspect the commander or the gnome?

From here DM, cast in the privy and examined the wizard and the cleric. Leaving the gnome to Jax and the commander to the Judge.

DM you fast forwarded a little bit to Xen, could Jax and I do two things prior? Sorry I was working brunch earlier when you posted the jump.

Basically can Jax and Xen find out the next few towns this group of actors is going too. I'll explain later but there is a reason I want to know their schedule for the next few months.

Also can Jax PLEASE secretly cast Detect Magic on the gnome if he has not done so at the play which he said he would do in any case.

Lastly Cуровую needs to meet with the friar in her guise as Cellia for a few minutes during the festivities. She will make sure that it looks like she has been searching for the cleric for a few hours.

Can't remember the post, but had asked if it was possible to use Bluff to disguise a detect magic cast in order to use it on the gnome.

At this point though, Cimu, its a lot of backtracking for probably relatively little benefit and if, for some reason, Jax did get caught casting, suddenly we may have to change everything we're currently doing if there is some kind of negative problem or issue that needs to get roleplayed out. As such, I'm fine dropping it.

This takes place hours before the father meets with Xen to make sure that nothing is amiss.

'Cellia' will approach the cleric and wait to be noticed then politely but walk with conviction, on her chest is the silver medallion of Mitra she purchased the next town over, clearly displayed.

'Your pardon my lord high cleric, blessed by Mitra's grace. A very brief moment of your time, I believe you have a letter of introduction from my Lady Viola Sackville-North, I am Cellia Vanorth, her hand maiden and chief aide.'

Cellia makes a slight but genuine curtsy.

'My lord I do not wish to take much of your precious time with your flock.

'My lady arrives in two days, three at the most and requests a meeting with yourself, and guest of your choosing over dinner. I was sent to meet you to make preparations.'

'Cellia' is very polite and deferential but clearly on business for her lady.

'I am not fully aware of my Lady's business in this regard but I do know she and her family is interested in giving a sizable donation to the church of Mitra under her name, but given directly to your custody. Furthermore she has a old relic from the early days of the church of Mitra. It is not magical from what she and her advisors can tell, but surely it has both historical and spiritual value.

'Do you have a favorite festive spot in town my lord?'

'I have heard of the Lord's Dalliance and Mama Kolo's in my initial preparations but I humbly defer to your judgement and your preference in this matter.'

'Cellia' then produces a writing quill and a parchment and politely lays them in front of the cleric.

'My lord if you could please list down your favorite wines, foods (including desserts) and any such items that may be pleasing to you sophisticated palette.'

My bad; you did get a Detect Magic in on the good Father. His breastplate is magic, he has several potions on him, and something in a little pouch at his belt.

So you're trying to lie to the good Father in order to get a handwriting sample. As you said, that this happens before he meets Xen, right? Okay. That's a straight up Bluff / Sense Motive. So, here's his roll: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Wow

Here is where we bite it!

Bluff, bluff. bluff Cellia! 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

ooooh, so close!

Okay, you got away with it. This time. Father Dunnigan is not charmed by you like the poor Magister, but he shrugs, jots down a few notes, nods and moves on.

'Cellia' takes the lists, inspects it and nods approvingly.

'By your leave your grace. If the lord commander has any dietary preferences do let me know as well.'

With pen in hand she prepares anything the farther mentions.

Bluff 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

'Cellia' will wait for a response then curtsy and is then hastily away.

Woo, really pushing it here. Okay, let's see. 1d20 ⇒ 10

The Commander has no particular dietary preferences.

Okay. Xen rolled a nat 20 in his attempt to intoxicate the good Father. 1d20 ⇒ 15

Xen, both you and Father Dunnigan are going to roll out of there drunk. For the next hour, both of you will suffer a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws and skill checks.

Now comes the nitty gritty: you have to convince him to go along with you to the house. Since you rolled a nat 20 on your "get him drunk" roll, I'll apply the "drunk" penalty to his roll, but not to yours. This is the big roll, man. Let's see it.

Who has the best perception? They should be watching from the window and let us know via message when that person sees the two of them slowly making their way down the path. When Xen sees the house he should stop the father and thank him for coming to the house to buy us a little more time.
We should be in the back room and cast a couple of spells before he gets too close to the house and could hear us.
Would like to get bless up on the party and shield of faith and guidance on Morsum.
Zimu, are you going to be disguised as the girlfriend or Mrs. Mott?

As for the rest of you, places. The house in question isn't very big, but it does have a 10' x 20' front room, with a small kitchen, an entryway, and a ground floor bedroom coming off it and a small staircase going up. Tell me where you are and what preparations you've made.

Note that the house is not within Message range of Mama Kolo's, so you don't automatically know when Xen will show up.

See above. The entryway is a small 5'x5'alcove, up a couple of steps from the street. A second door leads from that into the 10' x 20' front room, which is where the action would take place. The front room has a couple of small windows onto the street. There's a small front garden and a fence.

What I need to know: where you are, what you're doing, and how you're keeping watch for Xen's arrival.

When they walk to the house Xen will stop at the corner and make sure his clothing is neat and straight and smooth down his hair etc.

At the door Xen will hum a love song and the last 5 notes of the chorus he will rap onto the door. He turns to father

thank you for this father it really means so much to us. I owe you many more drinks. . He claps him on the shoulder then opens the door as let's father go through. Xen follows and closes the door.

I figure that gives at least two rounds of prep

The Judge will position himself in a far corner of the room. Morsum will be next to the door. The Judge will cast Shield and Enlarge Person on him as well as Evolution Surge(Grab-Claw). Hm, everyone is piling on! Okay.

Two rounds to prepare means, Jax, pick two out of three (alter self to halfling / cat's grace / shocking grasp). Judge, pick two of (shield / enlarge person / evolution surge / mage armor). Note that you're getting a surprise round, so you can still cast in the surprise round.

Dren, you're casting Silence?

Female Level 7 Buxom Dairy Queen

Cуровую cast Scorching Ray in the surprise round.

Forgot to add +2 for Evoker bonus for a total of 25 dmg

For her 1st round action she will move to block the exist and ready a Magic Missile to disrupt any action the cleric may take.

Maybe we should save the Silence for the magister. Actually why take risk, use it.

I don't think silence will be to our benefit here. The cleric is Wis based while all of our casters are not. He has a much higher save than any of us do meaning we are likely to end up with him NOT silenced and all of us silenced. There's an equal chance of him failing a Hold Person spell as there is a Silence spell except one doesn't gimp the rest of us as well.

Jax will cast shocking grasp on the surprise round, using spellstrike to hit with it rather than hold the charge.
First though: Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Spellstrike: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20 (If he has on armor or a metal weapon add +3 to that) for 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 and 1d6 ⇒ 5 sneak attack and 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 6) = 16 lightning damage.

Don't forget to add bless to your attacks as well as CMB. Morsum also has Shield of Faith +2. I will not cast guidance on Morsum since there isn't enough time.

Hold person in the surprise round then if he fails he is dead...DC 18 willpower.
The silence ruling is very confusing to me...so we are in a zone of silence except for the people who saved. Does that mean that their voices carry normally in the zone and we can all hear what he/she/it is saying even though we can't hear anything or just they they can speak and use spells and they are still surrounded by silence?
At least the latter means the spell works as intended, it just doesn't affect those that save invidually.

Guys, you're getting ahead of yourselves a bit -- and it's getting a bit confusing with the buffs, too.

Everyone gets TWO ROUNDS of buffing. Please confirm which buffs you have up; if you don't, I'll pick two.

It's a bit late in the day for the Silence conversation, perhaps? My assumption is that Dren casts it as the last thing done in the surprise round. However, since that round is not resolved, you can change your minds.

Male Human Oracle (FC) 15 Init: +8 Perc: +0 AC:24/14/20 F:+13 R:+14 W:+15 HP:124/124 Freedom of movement, Resist Cold/30, Air Walk 30'

Round 1: Bless on everyone except for Xen.
Round 2 Shield of Faith +2 on Morsum.
Suprise Round: Hold Person on the good father.

So, no Silence? Okay.

Let's assume that Jax does Cat's Grace and Shocking Grasp (that last one is pretty much de rigeur), with a melee attack on the surprise round.

Judge, Mage Armor has hours/level duration, so I would allow you to cast that in advance. So, that leaves Enlarge Person and Evolution Surge as your immediate pre-combat buffs. We good?
