Yeah, likewise. It's just fun to get into character.

Truer words have rarely been spoken.

I are done. I may have splurged a little too much but I wanted to be prepared.

I am so excited for this one. I am eager to see who gets chosen and the like.

I think I have finished mostly as well, I still have to figure out my skill allotment and how much wealth I have left over. I have one question, and that is how do you handle adamantium, because most of the campaigns I play in make the stuff to rare to just buy, however I have listed 5 durable adamantine arrows on my sheet. I was hoping I could use them and get them back, because a durable arrow doesn't break unless someone intentionally does so.

Proceed as you were, everyone!

Now, if you want to give me a sample roleplay, send me a PM with a prompt and we will roleplay with a few messages back and forth. You can have the roleplay be a moment in your backstory, meeting up with Lord Mayor Ioseph of Restov in The Succulent Boar tavern in Restov, or whatever you like.

Minerva Parsall, you may have durable adamantine arrows, if you can wish to pay the price for that

Been away from PbP for awhile, but I wanted to get back into it and this seemed like a perfect place to start trying.

I'm thinking an Aasimar Oracle of Life/Paladin would make a good addition as a healing focused character, so I'm going to put that together in the next couple of days.

Almost bought all durable adamantium arrows. Had to hold back to not be overpowered. Already have a ridiculous amount of power. Don't need more. Also thought I should save a few gp for later.

Adamantine (for weapons) isn't all that OP (or useful, really) at low levels, unless you're sundering. Not a whole lot of enemies have DR/Adamantine at the start. Really, they're no different from Masterwork right now. Magic arrows would probably be more useful, honestly.

"Power" is a difficult term to throw around when it comes to Gestalt. There's just too much stuff hitting the table to do any reliable analysis.

Precisely Heyden, that is why it's always a good idea to design the first encounter to be a litmus test of a particular party's power level and repeat this every time they gain a level by having one of those encounters.

You are correct Arawn, that is why I purchased only 5. In addition I have purchased many different types of arrows to be able to handle any situation, because I find that at low levels, that pesky dr 5 can be quite a nuisance. I use arrows to make my character kind of like green arrow in a way.

Oh, I need to get my character done so I can get to this. It sounds like an awesome opportunity. Sorry that I've been postponing finishing my character.

As for power, I agree with the others, that's a though subject in gestalt. With the rules given it's possible to deal nearly tripple digit damage already at first level for a martial character or force several saves over 20 per round for a caster. Of course just numbers doesn't make a character alone, it needs to balance fluff and mechanics. Defense is also probably a consideration, for which the options are many.

Jonathan should be all set and ready to go.

Oke dokie. Got the profile updated and fiddled around a little bit to help out more with the exploration bits. Here is the new and improved Dayreth

Okay, here's an updated list of characters, once again in order of appearance. If I forgot you or messed up your class/archetype, please say something! Additionally, the deadline for new submissions is (according to the GM's post) either today or tomorrow.

Dark Archive

Was going to update the list later today, thanks for saving me some time :)

No problem. I was curious as to what new applications had come in. That's a lot of characters...

Lol I was going to the same! Great minds, I suppose.

Instead, I'm going to crash Chrome a few times and get a list of who expressed interest, but hasn't yet submitted a character...

There are actually quite a few. I wasn't expecting so many.

Toodles or summat
HighonHolyWater
trawets71
Imnah, The Half Steel
thunderbeard
oyzar
Fury of the Tempest
The Dragon
The Morphling
Orannis
Sach
fnord72
JonGarrett
CaptainFord
The Pale King
The Nightmare Company

If your name appears on the list and you've submitted a character, let me know so it can be removed.

Please add my name as expressing interest. I'll put together an idea I have for an elven ranger/wizard. It shouldn't take me long to put him together.

Iavas has now a bit more backstory, and should be all done. I decided to keep the foible strength at 8, it requires a bit of trouble, especially at start with encumbrance, but maybe it will give a bit more life to her.

I think she's ready. Technical stuff is finished, the fluff part might get some minor additions but main events are there.

I think Kinimpizle is basically done. Still have a little generic equipment to buy but I want to wait and see what other people have purchased so that our bases will be covered.

Let me know if you see anything else you would like adjusted. I think I have a pretty good grasp on Kinimpizle is at this point. I think his combination of valor and eccentricity should be quite fun to play and evolve.

Dunno if you just squeaked in under the deadline, or if you just missed it. Will have to wait for the GM to decide that one.

On that note, please tell me I'm not the only one compulsively refreshing every 10 minutes while I'm at the computer (and a couple times an hour from my phone) in anticipation of an update...

It's funny, I look at the submissions as they are, and I can see who I would choose for my ideal party. I knew we would get a slew of submissions when I put out the call for a GM, but I never expected this kind of turn out. I'm really excited to see the final group dynamic and get plugging along. Curious to see what changes Div has made, as well.

You're not. I'm doing so as well.

Oh good. I'm not crazy, after all.

Or, at least, I'm not the only crazy one.

Something like that.

I'm quite looking forward to news myself. I hope nothing bad happened to Divinitus.

Dark Archive

I'm still here with the rest of you lot, too. As Castor said, hopefully Divinitus is alright.

Still here too.

Always lurking

Everyone is counting the seconds now. Feels like some one keeps casting time stop.

Obligatory

He did say there would be a few more days for those interested to post in, so I'm guessing he won't be saying much until at least tomorrow. This is what I'm HOPING happened, as the last several recruitment threads that spawned on this premise were fake. The last game Jonathan was in died, so I'm hoping to pick him up in another gestalt game.

Also, realized I didn't spend all my gold. Gonna do that now.

I think we're up to 4 fakes so far.

On the other hand, because there have been so many fakes, people already have characters created, and just takes a minute to put them in.

On the bright side, I'm somewhat more hopeful for this one as the GM was responding to PMs, which the previous fakes didn't.

I always appreciate the practice, at the very least.

Dark Archive

What is the purpose of fake recruitment, just trolling? Given the small % to get in to most games that doesn't seem very effective.

It's almost certainly someone who is active on the boards, otherwise it would have been one drive by trolling.

I'd be willing to bet it was someone in the threads. It's not about trolling, it's about trolling and watching it from the outside.

If you follow trolls, they'll often troll, and then troll themselves publicly. There was one guy who got arrested awhile back who had like 30 something aliases, and had long involved irate arguments with himself online.

Grand Lodge

...Wat?

I am holding on to the sincere hope that this hasn't all turned out to be a fake. That Div will be back to choose a group and the game will be underway.

Going to go ahead and withdraw my application from recruitment. I'm struggling to get Thovon where I want him to be.

Good luck to everyone else, I'm sure this will be an exciting game!

Divinitus has 292 posts and at least one active game. I STRONGLY doubt this was a troll.

Sorry guys, I didn't find out my identity was stolen until my internet bill didn't go through and it got cut off. Spent the last few days trying to get $700 in overdraft fees removed from my account. I have been reimbursed and am back online!

Does anyone know any good identity fraud protection?

Dark Archive

Oh man, I'm sorry, that happened to me once when I ordered something through paypal, I feel your pain.

Unfortunately I don't know of any good fraud protection, I just became way more skeptical about online purchases.

Grand Lodge

Whoa, that sucks! Yeah PayPal could afford to be a bit more secure, I lost 300 dollors just a week ago before it was put a stop too..

Okay so, since I have a backlog of about 20 or more PMs for backstory and it is so near the cut-off date, let me ask you all a question. Is it okay if I just skip replying to those?

That's a lot to reply to and, with the cut-off date for applications being today, I want to start reviewing applications from you all.

Also, for those who have had bad experiences with GMs bailing on you, I can give you my new email address that I have made or my phone number, so you can keep in touch. That way, this issue doesn't happen again where people are left wondering where I am. Sound fair enough?

Feel free to skip mine. Sorry you had such a bad experience, but I'm glad to hear things are working out somewhat better (got the fees off at least). I'm not sure about fraud protection, but I'm excited for the review process!

Dark Archive

I think it's reasonable to skip replying considering you had something eat up your available time.

Feel free to ignore any of mine, brother. As for identity theft, that service that Sony gave us when the PSN was hacked seemed to work well! I'll try to find out its name again.
