I've been without a computer for a few days and likely will be for a few more. It keeps going to BIOS and won't boot from my hard drive. I'll get back to this when I can - my phone keeps freezing too much to post reliably, and my tablet has several busted keys.

I FINALLY have a computer back! Now, what did I miss...

Hokay, found the relevant post about the money and the split here. So if anyone has anything they want to buy, it looks like everyone gets 820 gp to spend on top of anything else they might already have.

Christmas shopping's done!
Now just got to do the cards.

Tera Flinders |

Oh no. :( Hope you have a Merry Christmas regardless.

Salomae Amsel |
Aw, thanks! I will; I'll still get to hit most of the usual family gatherings. The shindig with my FiL's family will be early afternoon on Christmas Eve so I can hit that before heading to work and then the shindig at my parents' will be around 8p Christmas Night. The only thing I'll miss out on is the gathering with my MiL's family in Nashville during the day on Christmas Day and they completely understand.
And it helps that after working Christmas Eve I get four nights off :)

This time of year is so stressful. I had a 12 hour day today, and I'm repeating that tomorrow in hopes that I won't have to go in on Christmas Eve (which I'm technically not scheduled for, but if my freight isn't done, I have to go in.) then I work Boxing Day on until Saturday.

DM Nate |

Stay sane everyone! I just finished my semester (82 credits down, 12 more to go and I'm finally done with grad school!), we're all done with shopping, and my wife did all the Christmas cards (like 2 weeks ago, because she always wants to get that all done early). I do have work tomorrow and Monday though, and a bunch of running around for family 'shindigs'. I'm hoping not to let the game stall at all, but obviously I'm expecting things to be a little slow this week. Remember to take a breath and enjoy the holiday!

DM Nate |

I'm pretty sure you posted this before we spoke... if not call me after noon tomorrow and we'll go over it

Salomae Amsel |
Sorry guys, my mind has been rebelling a bit when it comes to trying to post (for PbP in general) the last few days - hopefully just a combination of work + holiday focus. I'll try and at least get a few items posted here in Discussion later that Sal might want to pick up later, if I have a quiet moment at work.

Congrats!
30% in 10 months is ambitious. It is doable, but that's a big goal. I would definitely encourage you (if you're not already) to to talk to your doctor about your program and goals, and try to see him or her fairly regularly throughout that time. I know I already offered some general advice... 6 or 7 years back I lost 82 pounds in 6 months and I'd be glad to share more about that with you if you'd like? I might even join you, I've put almost all of it back on since then :(
we can make Joe do it too... he doesn't have much weight to lose but he just kind of needs people to keep him accountable in general.

AdamWarnock |

Definitely planning on talking to my doctor about the exercise. I was already planning on talking to him about seeing someone to help with the nutrition side. I know it's ambitious, but even if I only manage to lose half that, that's 15% that I wouldn't have if I hadn't tried. :)
I don't think I can do the daily vlog thing, though. The editing and posting just eats up too much time. Still, I had fun doing today's.
Thank you all for the love and support. If nothing else, I hope this one brings you a smile.

I didn’t mean that in any way as a discouragement! I really do think you could reach your goal, I just suggested having your Dr monitor your progress because sometimes losing weight rapidly can have unexpected complications. It probably won’t, but I feel like that’s maybe one of those better safe than sorry kind of situations?
Also, I feel your pain on trying to do daily videos... a while back I did a thing where I posted a 15 minute video everyday for about a month (teaching through Matthew), and it was a lot. There was virtually no editing involved and it still took so much time I couldn’t keep it up with everything else I had going on. It does seem like it could be helpful though.
Good luck with all of it!

Watched all 3 vids! keep it up. one day at a time. I hadn't planned on any resolutions this year, but what the heck. I'll set a goal of 40lbs by October 4th (2 days before a beach vacation.)
I feel like we might be hi-jacking the discussion thread. Do we want to start an encouragement/accountability thread somewhere? (it would help me a lot)
edit: just weighed in at
so I'll be shooting for

Salomae Amsel |
^Yeah, starting a separate thread or group or something would be best I think. Normally I'd suggest Facebook or a blog or something but that might be more trouble than some folks want to go to (not everyone uses FB) so maybe just a separate thread here on Paizo. And it actually works out since folks will be coming to the forums anyway to check their games :3

AdamWarnock |

@Nate: Oh, I know, and I didn't take it that way. I was already thinking about talking to the doc about nutrition so I'm not starving myself or shooting myself in the foot, so this just gave another reason to do that.
As for an accountability thread, I'm all for that. Should we just set up a game thread? Maybe we could tie a character to how well we do.
I cast Fireball
Since you've been on a roll lately by going to the gym and staying away from the fizzy stuff, the spell goes off without a hitch, but since you haven't really worked on that kitchen sink, you now have an angry horde of slightly singed ogres coming for you.

Uhh... it just so happens that I have this random thread where we could relocate the health and wellness discussion?

Kaede Mayumi |

Okay, while Kaede is still leery about riding horses, we need to move fast. She'll swallow her jitters and do it. As for route.... If we know about the land, what is between here and the Misgivings? I mean, logically, the road is where it is for a reason, yes?

DM Nate |

For expedience sake, you can just look at this map.
The Lost Coast Road snakes south from Sandpoint and right before Foxglove River there a 'road' ("path" might be more accurate) that branches off to the west and heads out to the manner. "As the crow flies" is, in retrospect, too strong a phrase... you'll basically need to follow the road around the hills south of town (it'd definitely be slower trying to go through there), but after that you could head due south (through farmlands) to cut off that western curve and then skirt the edge of the marsh and cut across open fields to where the 'road' crosses the river.
On horseback its a couple hours to the manor by road, going off-road might save half an hour (max), although neither of those time estimates accounts for any potential complications...
Edit: also, we don't need to make a big thing out of it but since we seem settled on horses, maybe someone could throw up a gameplay post asking about taking the Cathedral's horses for the trip?

Kaede Mayumi |

Let's do that then.

It was, lol. The high yesterday was like 7 degrees, and with windchill I don't think it ever got above zero. The power is back on, unfortunately I think my computer may have been in the middle of updates when it went out so now I'm having all kinds of problems with it. I'm trying to get it working right today, but I'll be away for grad school Wed and Thursday, so I might not be able to post a real update until Friday. Sorry. I'll try to get something up sooner if possible.
