I made this thread so that I can chat with players somewhere that will update in their campaign tab but isn't associated with a specific game.

So, I know the general plan is to do a GM swap. If someone runs a WotR game for us, we'd run a game for them. I know Nate said he'd be the GM for the other game, but I also let him know that I'd run something if he couldn't manage it. Below is a list of APs and longer modules that I have that I can run, or let Nate have access to so he can run them.

- Rise of the Runelords (Anniversary Edition)
- Curse of the Crimson Throne (3.5 edition)
- Second Darkness
- Legacy of Fire
- Council of Theives
- Kingmaker
- Jade Regent
- Skull and Shackles
- Shattered Star
- Reign of Winter
- Wrath of the Righteous
- Iron Gods
- Dragon's Demand
- Rise of the Drow
- Splinters of Faith

I've also got a number of modules that I can run as well. If someone wants something Homebrewed, I can do that as well.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Awesome. I thought we’d probably wait until we know what we want to play before we start looking for someone for the trade but that’s a great list when the time comes. Personally, I’d prefer not to run WotR while we’re playing it, but I’ll add to the list that I’m willing to just make something up to if they have an idea for something that’s not a module/AP.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

I kinda figured, but I thought I'd put my cards on the table. As far as homebrew stuff goes, I've got a few ideas.

Dovan Dur:

A vast dwarven city that is the center for trade in the northern lands with a long and rich history, Dovan Dur stands tall as the first and greatest city of the dwarves. No enemy has ever conquered it, and the plateau leading to the valley it is nestled in is riddled with ruined siege engines and the graves of thousands of armies.

It's a sandbox with several factions and an area known as the Magery that is a tangled mess of magic and an excuse to throw an occasional dungeon crawl at the party.

Aletheria:

This one's more focused. Ancient, falling kingdoms try to claim glory. Myths come to life, and in the middle of it is a princess trying to reclaim her home from dark and greedy invaders.

Gem Hunters:

Sorry, been listening to Way of Kings and that sparked this idea.

The party is a group of gem hunters that go out into the dangerous parts of the world to collect storm gems, gleaming stones that are infused with power and fetch high prices from the wealthy. This one would be more episodic, though I'm sure I can weave some sort of dastardly plot in there. :P

If we're compiling a list of modules, I don't own any APs or long modules but I do have the following modules that I could offer to run or loan to someone else to run:

Crypt of the Everflame*
Masks of the Living God*
City of Golden Death*
Dawn of the Scarlet Sun
Murder's Mark
Risen From the Sands
The We Be Goblins quartet (4 modules)
Hollow's Last Hope (D&D 3.5 module)
Revenge of the Kobold King (D&D 3.5 module)

*These three can actually be ran as stand-alone adventures or a trilogy.

I could also offer to run PFS scenarios, of which I have all of Seasons 4, 6, and 7 and a few others scattered across the remaining Seasons.
_______

Also of note is that I'm generally game to try just about any AP so if either one of you have some other option that you'd rather aim for than Wrath - or maybe have a top two or three to give a potential GM choices - by all means speak up :)

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Well, I wouldn't mind playing or running a Reign of Winter game. Never have gotten past the first set of encounters. Curse of the Crimson Throne would also be a fun one, especially if they had the updated version.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Wow. Well, that’s quite list we can offer, lol.

In terms of what we’d like to play, Wrath would definitely be my first choice... but I’d be down for trying just about anything with a good group.

Hi everybody! Several of the campaigns I'm playing in seem to be coasting to a halt. If they end up folding, I might be willing to run something, but I'd like to give them another 2 weeks to get back on track before writing them off.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

well, it might take us 2 weeks to figure out what we want to do with our party and make characters... so maybe we won't even need to look for an exchange! although, just to be clear, no matter what happens with your other games you're welcome to just be a player and we'll find another GM, if you prefer...

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Well, that was disheartening...

I just got on the scale for the first time in probably 5-6 months and it was decidedly bad news.

364. That's only 5 pounds off the heaviest I've ever been.

I'm definitely in. Starting today. My overall goal is to lose 120 pounds (30% of my body weight). I was going to separate that into several smaller goals, but since it happens to be the same as Adam's goal let's just do it. What's the date we're shooting for, October something?

Do we want to have a day where we make progress reports every week?

my nutrition plan:
So, I'm going cold turkey off all refined carbohydrates (sweets, obviously, but also bread, chips, that kind of thing). I'm also going to severely limit simple carbohydrates (like white potatoes, white rice, etc), and even more complex carbs (like fruit and starchy vegetables) I'm going to go moderate on and try to keep mostly to the morning (when I'll have time to burn off the sugars before bed). I'm going to eat 5 times a day (roughly 8, 11, 2, 5, and 8) and target 250-350 calories per meal. Generally speaking, you can go as low as 1100-1200 calories a day without too much trouble but I'm targeting 1500 to give myself a cushion (and to make it more sustainable). Protein will (hopefully) be my biggest source of calories with heathy(ish) fats second. My first 2 meals each day will be where I get fruit and things like carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, maybe even corn once in a while; the latter 3 will be mostly protein and dark veggies (broccoli, spinach, brussel sprouts). Oh, and lots of water. And, a multi-vitamin to help make up for anything I might not get enough of through my food.

my fitness plan:
I have an inclined treadmill... I'm going to start my day (everyday but Sunday) with 20-30 minutes on it. Maybe longer if I don't have anything going on that morning. I don't own any heavy weights but I have some that are like 10-15 pounds and I'll use those Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout the winter. I have a big tractor tire (probably weighs 300-400 pounds) and once the weather improves I'll start working that in too (there's a bunch of exercises you can do with them- flipping it, whacking it with a sledge hammer, dragging it around, jumping in/on it...). There is a gym that's like 8 minutes from my house; at some point I may join it for more exercise options but right now I don't really have the resources for that.

cheat day:
I'm a proponent of cheat day. I think it helps stay more disciplined throughout the week (because when cravings come up I can keep them at bay by deciding to save it for cheat day). There's also some research that suggests that you lose more weight when you include cheat day (because it helps keep your body from going into like an extreme conservation mode where its hard to lose weight). I'm going to try to keep cheat day pretty consistently on Saturdays (though I'm sure I'll move it around sometimes for parties and holidays and whatnot), and I'll target like 3,000-4,000 calories for the day (with no real rules on where they're coming from). Sugar is addictive, so there's always a danger that the day after cheat day will be really hard to stay on track, but this has worked for me in the past.

edit: maybe we should do this all in kilograms... I only weigh 165 kg...

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

My plan is way less comprehensive. I drink about 2500 calories a day, so I will discontinue that and reduce my portion sizes on the food I do eat. Also reducing breads (but they're not a favorite of mine so I won't miss that much)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

That’s cool... you do remember that there’s still a gameplay thread for the runelords game too, right?

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

I'm shooting for October 27th since that's when I turn 30, so about 9 months and 3 weeks. Don't really have a nutrition plan yet, but I figure starting off by cutting out cokes, fast food, and sweets would be a good first step. Cutting carbs is going to be harder for me since I love me some bread, potatoes, and pasta. Water I can do fairly easily since I have two big water bottles have gradations on them. Ones 32 oz. the other is 48 oz. which makes it easy to hit the 64 oz. that's recommended. Just drain two bottlefuls and your good. :D

Exercise is pretty much Monday through Friday first thing after my quiet time. starting off with 10-15 mins on the treadmill and when my calves are no longer screaming at the end of that, I'll be increasing it to 20, then 30 minutes. I'm looking to build muscle, so weights are as heavy as I can lift for as many reps as I can manage on the Nautilus machines. Arms on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Legs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I see the doctor on February 21st, so we'll see what changes after that.

October as a sort of 'finish line' works fine for me. In the past I've used Monday as my weigh day/start point for a given week so that's probably what I'll continue to do. If people want to select a specific day for everyone to weigh and I can do that but I honestly think it might be better for everyone to pick whatever day works best for them - we can just keep a note or something to remind everyone who weighs in on what day.

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I think I'll shoot for Sunday nights for weigh in's. I think it will help me behave on the weekends.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Lol- Sunday is probably the worst day for me, since Saturday is my cheat day, but maybe that’s for the best

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Sunday 1/6/19
clocking in at 255lbs and a rather nasty headache from 2 days without pop (soda)

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Planning on weighing in on Friday Mornings before I hit the gym. I figure that will be the most consistent.

And, I'm still going with the Vlog, talky, I'm not even sure what this is anymore, videos. Just got done posting the 4th one and it should be done processing soon. Planning on doing more of a recap video every Sunday instead of daily videos. Much more likely to have time to make a better video and do everything else that I want to if I do that.

Weight is 208-209 kg as of 12-29-2018. That's about 457-460 lbs or 20 lbs more than my scale at home can handle. So we'll know I've lost 20 lbs when I can actually weigh myself.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

@Joe- are you drinking coffee or anything, or detoxing the caffeine? If the latter, yikes! I’m drinking black coffee still, largely to avoid the headaches (and it can actually be good for your metabolism).

@Adam- that sounds like a great first goal!

Monday 1-7-19
Current Weight 188 lbs

In the past I've done the Weight Watchers thing (using the website/app, not necessarily buying the food) and found that it does work if I actually stick with it. Sure, I could cut carbs and do portion control on my own (which is basically what WW nudges you into doing) but the ease of being able to track stuff via the website/app has, in the past, made it easier for me to stick with it.

Exercise...I hate exercising, not going to lie. But I don't mind walking and our street sits on an incline so I'll probably start with doing circuits up and down the street. The other thing I enjoy is swimming so that's a possibility once the weather gets hot again. No exercise equipment (except some hand weights that belong to the hubs) so I guess I'm stuck doing sit-ups and the like when the weather is foul.

End goal? The lightest I can ever remember being was about 135 back in my high school days but for the majority of my adult life I've been around 150 which doesn't look bad for me (despite being short I apparently carry weight fairly well to a point) - so that's what I'll shoot for, to start with.

Had a double yolk in one of my eggs this morning. Clearly an omen of some sort.

:3

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

An omen of weal!

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

"....box without hinges, key or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid..."

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

or, in this case, two golden treasures
(although, remember- "All that is gold does not glitter...")

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

And all that glitters is not gold.

Sometimes it's diamonds, other times it's incoming artillery. ;)

I mean, the yolk is the best part of an egg as far as I'm concerned so I was quite happy with my double treasure :)

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

How do you like your eggs?

I tend to scramble mine with cheese and sometimes onions and peppers.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I’m eating a lot of eggs right now (with 2 meals before noon and no cereal, pancakes, waffles, etc.) so I’m into variety. Over easy is my go to, but I like scrambled too. My wife is kind of, sort of, trying to eat better too (some of the time) so we made some egg cup things- they’re breakfast sausage shaped into a cup in muffin tin with a piece of cheese and one egg dropped inside, then baked. They’re actually pretty good and you make them a dozen at a time so they’re easy to grab later.

The first couple days of eating better were a little rough- I was getting headaches either from detoxing from sugar or maybe as my body’s protest against the drop in calories, but they seem to have passed now. Hope it’s going well for everyone else!

I will eat eggs in all forms (scrambled, hard boiled, etc.) but my personal favorite is sunny-side up.

Doing okay on the food thing considering I didn't really consider that we're (at the moment) pretty low on groceries when I decided to officially start this. This means I've had to scrounge a bit and I don't have much in the way of my usual healthy munchies* but I'll probably try to swing by the store on my way home from work in the morning and grab a few things until I can make a bigger trip to Walmart later this week.

*When I get those really serious 'I HAVE TO NIBBLE ON SOMETHING' moments baby carrots and/or raw cauliflower are usually my go tos.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Oh, I forgot about hard boiled eggs- I like those too. I actually will use those for ‘snacks’ sometimes too (although, I don’t really do snacks when I eat like this, but I’ll use them in meals).

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I'm a big fan of over easy eggs. Also, I felt terrible after quitting pop, but I seem to be through the worst of it.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Trying to kinda wean myself off caffeine. I've been doing better on the Soda front since my Friday breakdown. I had on on Saturday, but haven't had one since. I just need to get to where I drink no tea and mostly water.

I will have to try the egg cup things. I'll have to borrow someone's muffin pan, and I might as well use their oven too since mine's a pain to get working.

On another note, I've at least doodled every day since the 1st (didn't get any drawing in that day.) I've also either completed a piece or did studies for half the days, so yay! Now, just gotta work up the courage to really dive into figure drawing.

^I've done something similar with egg cups except the one I tried involving hollowing out a tomato (which I also ate because I love tomatoes) and cracking the egg into it before baking. Not bad, provided you don't mind the texture of cooked tomato. I did sprinkle in a few bacon bits for some added flavor but you could probably experiment with spices and such as well.

Regarding caffeine I have largely gotten to where I don't drink soda except an occasional one at work and sometimes when I'm at a restaurant; not buying them to keep at home saves me a lot of temptation. However I *am* still bad to drink Monster (Juice line) when I want a caffeine boost for work so I'm definitely working on cutting that back.

@Adam - Huzzah on the doodling! I'm not an especially creative /artistic person (oh, how I wish I were) but lately I've been watching NerdECrafter on YouTube and it's been making me want to give polymer clay a try.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Creativity and art are two things that one can learn, though. Some people have a knack for it, but that only gets you so far. There's plenty of ways to get started with drawing, and I was thinking about doing a video or two on how to get started. I think you just gave me the motivation to do it.

Well, the knack/talent is what I wish I had naturally. Of course you're right that talent only gets you so far but it certainly doesn't hurt to have it, either :)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I’d like to write more... I have a couple ideas for books (non-fiction), but between family, work, and school I never seem to have the time.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Thankfully, from what you've said, you're almost done with one of those. :)

@Lady Ladile: I took a looksee at NerdECrafter's channel. Not my normal cup of tea, but I thought she was entertaining.

Yes, even though crafting channels aren't normally my thing either I've found that I like her humor and the actual process of making things from clay is fascinating to see. She also seems genuinely enthusiastic about what she does and enthusiasm (or lack of) about a thing has always been a big component of whether or not I enjoy listening to someone talk about that thing. For example, my college physics professor's enthusiasm for the subject matter made me hate the experience that was a college physics class a little bit less.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

If we’re all doing updates different days then I’ll do mine on Saturdays, since that’ll be the 1 week mark (plus Sundays tend to be busier for me). I do want to say though, in the past when I’ve done this the first week is usually a pretty big drop and then it tapers down to a more reasonable rate as my body acclimates... I just want to put that out there so that if the pattern holds nobody will be worried that I’m overdoing it, or discouraged if they got off to a slower start.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Well, just figured I'd get this out of the way, I've fallen off the horse and into the river this week, so probably not going to do well at all. I just got off at 10:40 this evening and I need to do laundry, so I'm looking at going to bed after midnight on top of a 13+ hour work day.

Also, I was arguing with myself about being imprecise in converting from imperial to metric in my normal voice and a terrible Aussie accent when I got home, so I'm pretty sure I've gone crazy, but the rest of the hive mind in my head says that we're perfectly sane, so I think we're okay.

At least I got the box I was supposed to configure done and I'm about 80% sure I got everything right, so pretty good first go for someone who regularly has doubts about their ability to do the job.

Hey, no judgement here - I've not completely fallen off the wagon but I've definitely stumbled a bit this week trying to get back into the swing of things. It doesn't help when you've still got leftover Christmas sweets lying around and your family isn't especially helpful when it comes to trying to stick to a plan:

Husband: Hey, I'm gonna run to Hardee's for some biscuits, you want anything?
Me: Very tempting but I'd better not. Trying to do better and all, you know?
Husband: Oh yeah, that's right!

*pause*

Husband: Sooo I guess spaghetti for lunch is out too?
Me: Well I mean maybe not for a cheat day but I can't just be going, 'Bread bread bread bread bread...' all the time!

But even that's still better than my mom who (as much as I love her) will offer food and then make comments about my weight 5 minutes later. Come to think of it, my paternal grandmother started doing the same thing as she got older. What the heck, fam? -_-

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I had a glass of mt. Dew last night. It tasted AMAZING.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Lol- I’ve had to eat out several times in the last couple days and that’s been pretty challenging, but I’ve done a pretty good job staying on the wagon. It’s really difficult to estimate the calories in dishes sometimes, and occasionally I have to guess which things are really in my program (like the random sauces on all the different Chinese dishes my parents ordered yesterday). I suspect those things slowed down my week a little, but I think it’s still going pretty well over all.

I’m definitely looking forward to cheat day tomorrow.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Just got off a little bit ago. I'm going to fix some dinner and relax some before doing some drawing.

I think I'm going to illustrate how my week went as far as goals for this year.
