"It has indeed. I feel much better now, more perceptive - as if mother Serenrae has lifted a haze from my vision! A blessed miracle!"
he says, taking several practice swings with Yvell and reciting a few simple Serenite prayers as he wakes fully.
Derlin has a positive perception score and uncanny dodge after waking up. I can see how he'd see it as a true miracle! Lol
Once everyone is ready Derlin suggests following the tracks to an end, then inspecting the light inside this cavern.

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell will place his hand on the wall once they got there to search for a secret door or anything they could have missed, it was impossible that the footprints simply disappear INTO the wall. He also had not used these keycards, so perhaps the wall was a door. Waving the card over the area as well as trying to find a slit for it.

Yvell Endymion |

" An illusion! How clever, yet odd in this place. The footprints gave it away somewhat. Well then it seems our path is not blocked, let us check inside. " Yvell first peers his head in first and looks around before stepping in.

GM Demonmoose |

You see similar metal walls and floors as before.
This metal room is brightly lit by glowing panels in the ceiling above. Near an open doorway at the other end of the room, to the left and right, complex machines consisting of spiral tubes and nozzles twitch and hum. After several seconds, a sprinkle of water sprays from the nozzles, and bolts of electricity arc across the room, as though bouncing from one wall to another.

"Some sort of trap?" the missionary asks, awestruck by the sights before him. He came to discover artifacts, and artifacts he had discovered! His eyes seem to scan the room intently.
take 20 Perception: 20 + 4 = 24

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell times the bolts and sprays, seeing if there is a particular pattern or if it is possible to get through to the open door on the other side safely. Though it pained him to say it, this mechanism seemed similar to the one they passed by with the construct. If so they might be able to break it a similar way. Yvell however had little knowledge of mechanical makeup outside of basic knowledge. " We have a problem, there is a sort of, Electric trap in the way, does anyone have knowledge in such things? If not, Derlin I believe we are going to have to break them, or rush across "
Perception for Timing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell looks at the party sighs and then dashes forward after the electricity strikes again. He knew he could take a little pain but wanted to make sure the others could do so as well. If all else failed Valtyra would have to waste so of her ability, sad as that seemed." Here I GO! "

![]() |

Derlin watches and waits, seeing what fate befalls the elven paladin. If he makes it across without issue, Derlin will attempt to cross the room.
"Someone who understands this technology may grasp it better but this room appears to be malfunctioning. What it's purpose is, I do not know." the foreign missionary bellows over the crackling of electricity.
If Yvell makes it no problem Derlin will go also. My speed is 30*.

Valtyra Brightsong |

"Oh I know all sorts of things Ibuki." She says with a wink. "But that is a gift from the gods."
She looks at Yvell,"If you had any better posture Yvell, you would be all upright." She says with a sly smile. Then watches him run into the electrical area. " Your so noble its adorable." She says softly, following him at a normal pace.

Yvell Endymion |

Upon hearing the last portion of Valtyra's praise, " Hunh, Wha-" Yvell trips and slips on the water already upon the ground and if he makes it, Slides the rest of the way.. face first.

Valtyra Brightsong |

Val watches Yvell fall then runs to him laughing softly. "Oh you poor dear. You must be more careful" He laugh has a musical tone and her eyes dance as she helps him up.

GM Demonmoose |

After Yvell, Derlin and Valtyra run through the room, Ibuki glances at the machines.
Yvell, Derlin and Valtyra enter a hallway, facing a red door. Around the corner of this hallway, they see two other doors, one white and one brown. There is Androffan writing on plaques hanging above each door, and a strange machine with a vertical slot beside each door.

Auehda, Burnt One |

On their way back from the desert, Burnt One picks up some of the shredded tentacles and attempts to make a repast of them.
--
Burnt One watches the others run across. They watch the machines. Then, right after a burst of fire sparks, they yell and run after their friends.
"What is the writing?"
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell slowly gets up a markings from the floor imprinted upon his face an clearly irritating/painful. He looks away from Valtyra and the rest and grumbles the words out. " The Red says 'Habitat Controls', Brown says 'Observatory', White says 'Science Deck Access' . This is where I think these keys might come in handy. They allow us through the brown with I would hope little issue. So lets search that first. " Trying to save as much pride as possible and moving to it. He inspect the door much like he has all the doors so far and tries to use the keycards again.

Derlin looks back at Ibuki, in awe of the half-elf's affinity for artifact technology. "Brown cards for brown doors. Even Derlin the Dim can remember that. Perhaps we'll chance on some cards of other colors behind the brown doors. If not, perhaps I can slide these up as I did before. Your face is quite bruised Yvell! Er, actually is that blush. Looks different on someone with such fair complected skin." the Serenite missionary slaps the elf on the back good naturedly, giving him as well as their surroundings a once-over.
take 20 Perception: 20 + 4 = 24
Derlin looks to his fellow Serenite for guidance once more. Feeling her wisdom helped keep him remain focused before,he seeks it out once again.
Derlin is asking Lady Brighhtsong for Guidance :D

Valtyra Brightsong |

Val gives Derlin the guidance he needs. "Well if the cards we have work on this door lets see what's behind door number 1! Of course it could be a trap or dangerous. Thats the hazard of the mission though." Val says, her eyes far away by the end.
You get the feeling that the last few sentences weren't spoken to the party. As she didnt look at anyone but was looking past you.

If all seems safe, Derlin will slide a brown card into any receptacle on the brown door after the party gets ready.
He enters should the door open.

GM Demonmoose |

Ibuki and Auehda are about 30 feet away from the brown door past a turn in the hallway, disabling the broken machinery. Derlin and Yvell are in front, with Bran and Valtyra right behind them.
Ibuki cuts some wires and rearranges or outright removes circuitry from the broken machines. When he's finished, they no longer spark electricity or sprinkle water into the room.
Yvell slides one of the brown keycards into the slot. The door opens and reveals...
A large metal table is surrounded by odd-looking chairs in this room. To the west, what appears to be a transparent wall looks out over a strange desert valley. Four pillars support the fifteen foot-high ceiling, while dozens of crude images of a pickaxe made of a skull and bones have been painted onto the walls with some sort of ivory pigment along with several phrases in an unrecognizable language.
In front of this, a four armed alien creature with an elongated head and tattered clothes and cape hurls a javelin straight at Yvell from its four fingered hand. He yells, "Yith kwe Zaiphus, Hetuath jie en doh!"

Derlin, Ibuki, Valtyra and Yvell's turn. The Alien is 20 ft from Derlin, Yvell, Bran and Valtyra. Battle has not been adjusted from its deadly state. Good luck.

Ibuki turns the corner after he hears Yvell's grunt of pain. He sees the abomination and wracks his brain for what it could be. He believes it is certainly alien, but undead as well.

Derlin's falca cuts into the creature's undead, decaying flesh. He can feel the sword going in, but not as far as it should have. Perhaps this creature is protected by magic.
With a deep voice, it snarls back, "Ith karoon jai Hetuath, wor jool Zyphus!"
15 damage to the undead. Valtyra and Yvell's turn.

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell opens the door, only to be stabbed by a flying javelin. For a moment there was silence from the Elven Paladin.. And then he snapped. All the frustration of the day before the amount of restriction he placed upon himself not to strike down the Gremlins or Skulks. It exploded outward in a roar, as his eyes glow fiery red from the blessings of his God. This creature would not be shown such mercy for it was an abomination and had angered a vengeful fellow.
" TASTE THE MIGHT OF RAGATHIEL! RRAAAWWHHHH! "
Yvell rushed forward with his blade held high not even taking the time to remove the weapon from his arm, it bleeding profusely as he swung down try to behead the creature. As his strike comes down an avatar of Yvell with Five Fiery Wings and a white glow follows.

Yvell's elven blade severs the large, elongated head from the undead creature's neck. The rest of the body starts to writhe, then stops moving completely. A strange mark of a bone-made pickaxe appears and then pulses on the creatures body before fading away.
Lucky, lucky, lucky. I think this adventure favors people with big weapons.
Again as you look at the room you see...
Battle is over. Good job surviving.

Yvell Endymion |

Oh Wow, it went down before it got to act.. If it could do that damage with a Javelin I'm sure it would have been an issue.
Yvell grins as the creature's head flies off and arcs across the room slamming into the wall and slipping down. As his holy fury subsides however, Yvell feels the intense pain of the javelin lodged in his left forearm. With a grunt and a grimace Yvell gripped the Javelin and pulled tight. Blood gushing from the wound and eventually being pulled out, the tissue, sinew and blood vessels peering through the milky flesh above. Biting his tongue, Yvell releases a red glow from his arm as the bones and flesh seem to stitch back together. A sickening sound of pulsating vessels, cracking bones and reconstruction of damaged tissue come from Yvell until finally only a small scar remained.
LOH: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Wow.. Praise be to Ragathiel; 4/5 LOH Remaining, 0/1 Weal's Champion Remaining.
Afterwards he stood with a satisfied demeanor and began inspecting the creatures body for anything useful. He spoke to the rest of the Party as he did so, " And THAT.. is how paladin's of Ragathiel rid themselves of an abomination. Now while I inspect this thing the rest should inspect the room, that way we cover area faster and could find some other lead to Baine. I can tell you one thing, those writings are not Androffan. And if I can go on a limb and say THIS creature and those skeletons, might be the Kasatha. "

"Well struck Ragathite! When I crafted my falca I used the elven curved blade as my inspiration. A fine weapon, and a fine kill. We have more in common than you think Sir Elf." the olive skinned missionary says with a grin.
"What are undead doing down here? How? I've never seen a creature like this one in all of my life.", with extreme caution, Derlin scours the room, slowly calming from his rage.

Melees have a sure edge compared to casters until about 5th level. 3rd level spells are the tipping point generally :)

Yvell Endymion |

" Hrmmph, I don't need you to say that, results speak for themselves. My blade was crafted to be a variation of the Bastard Sword, my Lord's symbol. It simply takes the strength of the weapon and adds the flexibility of a Rapier, if stabbing is needed. It is much harder to break and indeed serrated to cause devastating wounds. I will say this Derlin, you do realize.. I am not elf. I am diluted in blood but I am a Half-Elven. " looking over the cape and symbol that he thought appeared upon the body's chest. Matching it to the walls. " Currently Im not sure why there are undead, but seeing as we have seen 7 of these creatures already I can assume foul-play. The Androffan-speaking construct from before identified the population here as Kasatha, so THESE creatures. "
Two handed weapons are good, but they can only end a fight if they hit. Color Spray ends a fight if the enemy rolls bad.

Derlin shrugs as his words of approval are rebuffed.
"Which half of you never learned to take a compliment?"
Wandering off on his own, he continues his investigation of the room.

GM Demonmoose |

Yvell searches the body and finds two masterwork bronze-tinged shortswords, a magical cloak, a javelin, and four silverdisks.
Derlin finds a white keycard with Androffan writing.

Derlin chuckles. Holding up a white card, he strides towards the group to see what the others turned up. He looks as if something is on his mind.
Forgive him Der, the life of a bastard can be hard on a person. Especially one of mixed heritage. He uses words to shield his pride, though I've no idea what I've done to him to deserve such ire. Mother Serenrae, please forgive him and guide him to forgive himself for whatever it is that prickles his ego so...

My assumption as well. Derlin has gone out of his way to be kind to the half-elf, especially since his first words to Derlin were calling him a buffoon. Eventually he was going to get tired of being talked down to ;) It just happened. Characters have feelings too.

Yvell Endymion |

LoL, good one
Yvell seems to mutter something to himself in a soothing language, though a vein could be seen pulsing in his forehead
Showing the blades to the group, the cloak to the more magically inclined and taking the Javelin for himself. " The cloak is clearly magical but I am not sure in what way. Both of the weapons, while of n inferior metal, are fine-crafted. Who here besides Derlin and I has the capability to utilize the swords? Otherwise I can see on being used between us. The value will be split once we return to Torch however. "
