Yvell Endymion |

There is a feat and an ability I believe which are specifically made to allow such things, however, they are waaay far off. So yeah you really can cut tentacles UNLESS there is a system set up on the creature than considers the tentacles separate creatures with hit points.
Yvell becomes frustrated and pulls back his blade, tarnished by the sludge. With a roar he pulls back and swings with renewed vigor. " Did you DANCE in this gunk!? Stop flailing around and get into the fight! "

Derlin roars, ripping free of the muck. Red flush with rage he takes a mighty hack at the beast. It strikes true. As his blade finds his mark, the big missionary howls with delight - fully lost in his bloodrage.

Cancel that post... Rewriting...
Yvell and Derlin's actions don't happen yet...
0. Bran, Valtyra and Ibuki.
1. Bran (again), Auehda, and Yvell's post.
2. Purple Tentacles
3. Derlin's post
So, try to kill the beast before Derlin can. Haha.
It is still Bran, Valtyra and Ibuki's turn. I will pass them after a few more hours.

Possibly,I'm at 11. I'm also not the only one attacking it now :) I posted my next action early because I may be unavailable most of tomorrow. Otherwise, all's spot on..

Yvell Endymion |

He did respond to you earlier I'm going to assume you missed it, t might ALSO be the wrong knowledge check. Seems like an aberration considering how freaky it looks.

GM Demonmoose |

A burst of white hot electricity fires from Ibuki's hands and runs along the tentacle beast's body. You hear it whistle sharply.
Passing Bran and Valtyra's turn. They may post when later when they wish.
Yvell cuts off the gunk from Derlin's feet, allowing the bloodrager movement.
5 damage to the creature. Derlin is free. We'll just pass Auehda's turn too, save her some magic.
The purple tentacles swing at Derlin again. This time both come from the same direction.

He ducks under both of them.
Red-faced and breathing heavily, Derlin leaps atop one of the smaller stone pieces and cuts down with his falca. Green alien ichor covers Derlin as he chops into the beast. Its remaining tentacles withdraw into the shell, and the creature becomes silent.
Battle is over.

GM Demonmoose |

After recovering from the battle, you have a chance to really look at your surroundings.
At first glance, this cold cavern presents a strange and disconcerting vista-that of a desert valley under a starless, night sky. A stretch of sand covers the ground, a vista broken here and there by bits of strange, spiky shells or contorted, dead fronds that look like branches.

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell cleans his blade on the shell and pats Derlin on the back, perhaps a little harder than normal. Examining if the shell held more inside as it was possible this creature might have slain another expedition member. He then looks down at the sand to see if there is an obvious trail in the sands to follow as there seemed to be no wind down here unlike an actual desert. There was a good chance the tracks would be undisturbed.

He checks his wounds as well after the fight, he was unharmed from the altercation. However, Derlin was harmed in the encounter. " Valtyra, if another of our members becomes injured once more, would it be a hassle to give us another kiss from your Goddess? I am trying to conserve our resources and get us as FAR as we can without danger. I must find another path first, I'd rather we not travel lost in an underground desert and run into more dangerous creatures. "

Bran shakes off seeing the creature. It wasn't exactly something of this world, he felt. It had surprised him enough that he could barely move.
"I hope that this isn't exactly something we can expect to see down here. Never seen something like that before. Maybe something else lurks in this...cavern?" Bran wasn't sure if that was what to call this place or not...

GM Demonmoose |

Valtyra cuts at the muck, and pulls a small handful of tar onto her mace.
Options: Follow the tracks, wander the desert, head back to town, do something else.

Yvell Endymion |

" Alright, we found tracks lets follow these. Most likely they lead to the others. " Yvell looks up with Burnt One and begins following the tracks.

GM Demonmoose |

After traveling for a few minutes, you feel an uneasy presence around you. The ground shakes and skeletal figures dig themselves out of the sands. Their alien bodies consist of four clawed arms and elongated skulls.

3. Valtyra, Yvell, Ibuki, Bran
There is one skeleton near each of you about 10 feet to the South. To the north about 10 feet is a small ridge of rock and stone. Derlin and Auehda are first to act.

Auehda, Burnt One |

The sand is not difficult terrain, is it?
Burnt One hacks a little, pulling energy from their surroundings and through their body, and fires a bolt of flame with a short thump. They step backward fearfully, stumbling against the ridge. "What are the things!?"

Auehda's fire blackens the ribs of her skeleton, causing the creature to rear back. It remains standing, unfortunately. It seems to speak silently and its teeth clack together menacingly.
3 damage to Auehda's skeleton. Derlin's action. Others may post their actions ahead of time if you want, assume the skeletons move adjacent to you.

Bran Firebaine |

Bran moves around as best he can, trying to take advantage of their positioning. He thrusts out a leg and attempts to hit one of the skeletons. Now we're dealing with skeletons? What the heck went on here...

No it doesnt; It either heals us or Harms undead, a Cleric chooses when they channel whether to do one or the other. So No you didnt heal any damage as she used it as an attack
Luckily in this case the minimum damage they can take is 1 so there is no need to save.

![]() |

I was under the assumption that channeled positive energy was just that. My mistake. Hp 12/15. As an aside, what an awkward rule :)

Yvell Endymion |

Not awkward it is a balance, it is so the same thing doesnt happen on your side with a Negative Energy channeling Cleric with Undead Minions. I assume you meant 11/15. Its alright as unless you read things like that you miss those words/stipulations. I don't use a program to make my characters so I often memorize various abilities for convenience

GM Demonmoose |

Derlin's falca cuts through bone diagonally through the shoulder and down the hip. It falls apart in a heap of limbs.
No one is adjacent to any skeletons at the moment. I'll have you cut at the nearest one. Unless you'd like to help someone else with their skeleton.

Okay. Next is Ibuki, Bran, Valtyra and Yvell's posts.
Ibuki takes a step back and fires a blast of colorful energy at one of the skeletons, but it moves its arms and the magic flies off to the southern mountains.
Bran cracks the legs of one of the undead and it topples over, pieces breaking easily.

Ibuki's skeleton seems to resist Valtyra's holy magic. Auehda's skeleton, when hit with the light, vaporizes into white powder.
Yvell knocks the undead monstrosity's elongated skull clean off of its spine. The rest of the body crumples into the sand.
Two skeletons left adjacent to Ibuki and Valtyra. Valtyra's skelly has taken 1 damage. It is Auehda and Derlin's turn.

Derlin circles around like a predatory cat preparing for a kill. Focsing on the blaspheme assailing Lady Val, the frothing Serenite attempts to hack into bone.
Yeah, I do everything by hand also. I just never clicked that Pos Channel/Neg Channel Attack was different than to heal. It makes sense, although I can assure you it's never unbalanced any homegames I've ran. Just a thing I've missed for years. Also, how often do you see the phrase Frothing Serenite - I love my poor brain damaged sorc-barian.

Auehda, Burnt One |

Demonmoose, I moved back 10 feet presuming the marching order had no spaces in between. So wouldn't Bran and Ibuki get AOOs on "my" skeleton before it attacked me?
Burnt One fires a bolt of flame at the skeleton harassing Ibuki.

Auehda, Burnt One |

Soft cover from Ibuki.
"Valtyra's powers are healing," Burnt One says, nodding towards the priestess. They inch back down the ridge, skirting around the heaps of bone, and come up to Yvell. "Are we forward going?"

![]() |

"I can go further but if our magicians are running empty of their magical reserves I can see wisdom in going back for the day and coming back to resume our tracks tomorrow. Perhaps we could sleep in the artifact vessel that we passed through. We could set watches and resume our exploration at first light without making the trek back from town to here." Derlin says, cleaning ichor off of his falca.
OOC* DM, if we take a night's rest in the vessel can we level that way?

Auehda, Burnt One |

You can go back to town, or you can find a safe place somewhere and rest.
Burnt One touches Derlin's falca again, setting it alight. "Burnt One would like to go back up. Introduce friends to Junkmaster. Check junkmetal and gremlins. But Yvell worries about Khonnir Baine."

![]() |

"I am of a mind with Yvell. Khonnir is key. I believe if we find Khonnir he holds the knowledge to relight the flame. Once we've accomplished our goals, however, I would love to meet your friend the Junkmaster and check for gremlins. What say you all? Shall we take shelter in the vessel and push our search onward refreshed in the morn'?" Derlin sounds optimistic about possibly spending the night inside of the artifact-vessel.

Bran Firebaine |

"Hmm...I don't think our actual supplies are low...We should be safe to spend a light rest here...somewhere...hopefully. It would give us time to recollect our thoughts and prepare to delve deeper into the caverns." Bran says. "Plus, the sooner we find Khonnir, sooner we can have that worry off our backs..."

![]() |

"Aye Bran we are well provisioned to rest in the metallic vessel for a few hours. Give our spell weavers time to restore their reserves in case we run into more trouble." Derlin nods, and looks back at the vessel.
"What is the verdict?" he asks the assembled group. He looks fit enough to go on but is concerned about the others.

GM Demonmoose |

I'm assuming you're going to try to sleep in the "metallic vessel."
You head back, following the tracks, to the metal rooms. Setting up a temporary camp, you rest for eight hours, not necessarily sleeping but making sure that you don't do anything too strenuous. After you feel rested, you re-embark on your journey.
You may level up to Level 2. Congratulations. For HP, you may take the average or roll. If you roll, you will get 1 Luck Point/Stat.
Following the trail again, you look up and see that the sky above the desert is still black. You walk along the ridge, cut South through the center of the circular desert, then back up near the Eastern mountains. A similar natural tunnel awaits you. The footprints end at the wall.
A crisp glow of light shines from the northern wall of this cavern, although no obvious source of the light is apparent.

![]() |

Derlin wakes, feeling refreshed and blessed by mother Serenrae to see another day.
Heading to discussion to ask some Q's and level up! Congats all!

Yvell Endymion |

Yvell seems grim in the morning but clearly has an otherworldly strength and resolve. He practices a few swings with his personal holy symbol, even inviting Derlin to spar somewhat before getting temporary camp done. " It seems my god has seen our decision was the right one.. I have become blessed with the ability to assisting longevity to our group. It also seems by posture has improved. "
