Death of a God (Inactive)

Golarion, the land of many quests, never truly at peace. There is always some conflict, some quest to be completed. Heroes rise and fall, some never truly die, living on in legend for eternity. Some are mighty clerics, divine conduits for their God. Others the simple mercenary turned hero. The stealthy rouge their to make some coin. And none shall forget the mighty wizards, who's spells have the power to sculpt the world to their desires.

Powerful as they are, there are beings of even greater power. The deities themselves. Powerful entities, many who started out as mortals themselves, finally ascending into Godhood. Beings who create these heroes and grant them power. Immortal beings who have the power to destroy or save Golorian. Or so many think.

But,are they truly immortal? There is an enemy who even they fear, one who they trapped long ago. But now he awakens, and his hunger for revenge is only growing. Who may stop this evil?

Well that's what I want to know. Anyone up for a hombrew?

What I'm looking for:

races:
Any from the core or advanced race guide. No third party stuff.

classes:
I'm fine with any classes except for Occultist classes. And again no third party products.

stats:
Roll 4d6 drop the lowest. Roll two sets and pick the best set. Because I don't like players feeling useless,if you roll badly, you may use a 20 point buy instead. You may use traits and begin at level one. Roll your starting gold. I'm not against any alignment as long as you aren't killing people just because you want to.

I'll leave the thread open for a few days to a week. I'm looking for four players, maybe five if I'm indecisive. The adventure will begin in Absalom, but you may be from anywhere essentially on Golorian.

I look forward to reading your ideas.

That's very interesting. Extremely interesting. I think I can handle playing in this on top of DMing my own thing. I'll apply.

Could you tell us a bit about how we start out? Not location, but a sort of hook, maybe? Should we be looking to hire onto a ship, know some person in particular, or just be in Absalon at the right time?

4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 6) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 2) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 3) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 2) = 9

or

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 5) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 3) = 19

That's pretty good. I think I'll make some sort of warrior.

Your character's reasoning for being in Absalom is entirely up to you.

Silver Crusade

Homebrew is awesome. I assume we start at 1st level? Can we take traits?, alignment restrictions ?

Set 1:
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 6) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 5) = 19 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 4) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 5) = 20 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 2) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 1) = 15 14

Set 2:
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 3) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 2) = 15 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 4) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 5) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 1) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 4) = 22 18

Thank you for asking that. I'll fix my original post.

Yes you begin at first level. Yes you may take traits. My only thing on alignment is as long as you aren't walking around killing people just cause, you can be whatever.

Silver Crusade

No problem, How about HP's ? and starting cash ?

Roll starting gold. HP is rolled except for level one.

You forgot to drop the lowest. That'll change some of the numbers

I am thinking Paladin or Unchained Monk

Gold: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 2, 4) = 15 x10= 150

This sounds interesting. Without knowing anything about where the party starts out/what the party will be doing I'm unwilling to make any claims about classes, so I'll just roll my dice for now.

Set 1:
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 2) = 1412
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 1) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 3) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 1) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 4) = 18 16
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 2) = 10 9
16 Point-Buy

Set 2:
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 6) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 2) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 2) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 1) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 6) = 19 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1) = 9 8
7 Point-Buy

Yeah... those are both pretty awful. I'll be going with a 20 Point-Buy.

Okay, now lets try this without f###ing up the roll code.

Set 1
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 3) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 2) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 6) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 3) = 18

Set 2
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 3) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 4) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 5) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 5) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 1) = 12

15, 15, 13, 9, 11, 15

I think I'll try running a WarPriest from Advanced Class guide.

oh, I can't stop myself from making characters. It's a sickness, I tell you.

Set 1
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 2) = 11 =9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 3) = 17 =15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 6) = 22 =18

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 3) = 14 =12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 4) = 13 =12

Set 2
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 4) = 12 =11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 5) = 18 =15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 1) = 15 =14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 3) = 15 =12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 5) = 18 =16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 4) = 14 =13

Well, I guess I'll be taking the point buy. Yeah right

Greetings citizens, what a fine day to save the world

This is TFY, I used set 2 for the rolls and put my +2 into strength

Now for starting gold.

I guess I'll keep the second set! Hehe. More to follow...

Would a Goblin Unchained Rogue be okay? :) Yes, I know, I keep creating these little bastards.

Dotting for interest, I'll do my rolls and stuff in the morning. Not sure what I want to play just yet.

Grand Lodge

Is there still room for one more? I'm really new with PbP but I would be very interested in this campaign. I have had the idea of a tiefling or a half orc monk seeking enlightenment and trying to defy the rage that comes with his heritage.

@The Archlich I'm gonna have to say no. Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the unchained rules

I think I'll go with the set 1 ;p. Probably a human bloodrager or a barbarian I think? Gonna be from the Mwangi Expanse or Sargava tho. Or I might go with a point buy? The idea I have is a bloodrager from the Mwangi Expanse (probably a tribesman from the Zenj) who comes to Absalom to learn more about the Starstone and the worship of the Ascended (as none of the ascended gods are widely worshiped in the Expanse.

The class is the part that is giving me tricks. I like having all that con, but neither of those stat arrays really scream a class to me.

Im with you archlich, just cant stop making my horde :)
For this one I am thinking of making some sort of goblin gunslinger or alchemist. The gunslinger would be looking to get his hands on the loudest gun possible and the alchemist would be looking to make the biggest explosion possible :)
I assume emerging guns for this?

Probably go with Stat #2 as I dont really like dump stats and that 7 makes me leery >.>

I'll go with array 2. Still not sure what I wanna go with just yet, thinking a divine character.

Starting Gold: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) = 8 x 10 = 80

Also, will you allow drawbacks?

@DekoTheBarbarian yes I will allow drawbacks.
@Gobo Horde yes emerging guns, but lower the price to 5 SP per bullet. I like the sound of both characters, very gobliny.
@LilWilly5 I did say no occultist classes though. Sorry
@Matatoa You sure you can handle this one and evil lurks beneath the sea?

@TPK: what about a Wyvaran Bloodrager going for the Dragon Disciple prestige class? Dragonizing all the way? :D

Silver Crusade

FYI, I plan on going Paladin for 2 levels, then Oracle for 5 and then Mystery cultist PrC. So he will be a tanky fighter with a focus on heal/status removal/buff. Pretty much whatever the party's needs may be.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 6) = 15 = 13

Ok, set 2 obviously. Given the religious theme, I am thinking an Inquisitor or Warpriest could be a good option for the game. Now to figure out deity.

@wanderer82 I'd you tell me good or evil deities,I will give some suggestions.

@The Archlich alright,I'll give you that one. You can be a wyvaran because it's a cool idea

Please remember I will be picking a variety filled party. Like the standard martial, divine, skill, support, and arcane.

Happy creation!

well went with array one 17,12,10,13,16,16
I have the stats down. I will work on back ground and personality tomorrow and Friday.

P.S. this is Matatoa. I should have no problem with two. I'm checking the other thread dozens of time a day waiting for others to post.

Same thing here. I check it a lot,but I try not to outpost the others so they don't feel like they have no say in the conversation.

P.S. I believe you should only have one sixteen. The other should be a fifteen.

What are you planning to play?

you are right I added instead of subtracting.

Sylph sky druid. Stats are already attached to character. From osirion lived out in the desert. As part of a nomad clan.

So I am going to change my idea a bit (OK, a lot). I am instead going to create a human or dwarf bolt ace with a focus on really big crossbows.
2 minute background.
My character was a part of a small village that was attacked by a dragon. There were few survivors, of which my character was one of them, and now orphaned. Utterly terrified and helpless back then, he vowed to never be helpless again, and to never suffer a dragon to live. Realizing that he could never axe a dragon to death, he took up the crossbow, slayer style. He also realized that only really big crossbows could have any chance of bringing down really big dragons.
Ta bring down dragons, ya need ta bring out the really big guns.

So, he would be a human/dwarf Bolt Ace wielding a heavy crank crossbow which is often firing bolts trailing rope in the hopes of anchoring creatures to the ground. A large part of his wealth will be buying rope and bolts :)

Just want to confirm that this is OK for me to start off with a mwk crank crossbow as my starting weapon? (650gp weapon in comparison to 1-2k for the gunslingers normal firearm)

Even if there are no dragons in the campaign he would still be a good ranged damage dealer with a bit of mobility utility from the crossbow firing rope and whatnot.

Would be funny if both me and archlitch got in, a dragon deciple and a dragon hater ^-^

Oh Gobo Gobo you're despicable!

Lol, you're right, it'd be quite the fun interactions, my friend :D

@Gobo Horde My suggestion would be the rich parents trait. Even if your parents weren't truly rich, you could say it is your money that you've got for ________

It would be quite funny your right.

Sure. That would be a good option.
Then how would this part work then?

Crossbow Maven wrote:

A bolt ace is proficient with all crossbows instead of all firearms and begins play with a masterwork crossbow of her choice.

This ability alters the gunslinger's weapon proficiencies and replaces gunsmith.

But the rich parents trait would give me a considerable amount to go towards that.

Dark Archive

So I have most of the crunch down and I am working on the fluff but I want to check in with GM TPK before I go too far. I am planning on playing a Tiefling Monk of the Four Winds.

Quick background
Come from the Isle of Erran, specifically Escadar. Tiefling doesn't fit in to begin with, common member in brawls of shady Escadar, picked a fight with a group I couldn't beat so I got rekt. Was picked up by some monks that broke up the fight and was taken to the non-canon Temple of Irori on the island.

Get all healed up. Taught to stop attacking others out of anger and fear. Taught monastic traditions at temple and try to follow in the footsteps of Irori in terms of self perfection. Advised to travel the world, understand the world to understand oneself, and to start at the center of the world, Absalom.

I'm fairly new to the forums, and don't know exactly how to use the dice rolling function, so I'm using this website to roll my stats.

First set:

4d6 (6, 1, 4, 6) =17 [16]
4d6 (5, 2, 3, 2) =12 [10]
4d6 (1, 3, 3, 1) =8 [7]
4d6 (1, 6, 1, 1) =9 [8]
4d6 (1, 3, 1, 1) =6 [5]
4d6 (3, 5, 6, 1) =15 [14]

...We might as well consider me dead before we even begin play. Let's hope I'm favored a bit more by the next roll.

Second set:

4d6 (5, 6, 4, 3) =18 [15]
4d6 (4, 1, 3, 2) =10 [9]
4d6 (2, 5, 1, 4) =12 [11]
4d6 (1, 1, 1, 2) =5 [4]
4d6 (3, 6, 2, 6) =17 [15]
4d6 (3, 6, 6, 2) =17 [15]

...Uhh, can I use the point buy option? This is just sad.

...

Yup, I'm using point buy.

Silver Crusade

Sunstone, if you look below, you will see a "How to format your text". Click on the "show". All the functions work basically the same for a dice roll it is.

(dice=Whatever)4d6(/dice)

replace all the ( with [

and you are good to go.

Ah, thank you kindly. I'll make sure to check the formatting in the future!

Ya I am using the point buy as well once I realized that my rolls were all odd numbers, and if you dropped off the odd, it became a 17pb :/

Just a question. You said that only 1 person could use the rich parents trait, so I am wondering who I am competing with for that?

Silver Crusade

No problem Sunstone, if you want to practice with some there is a thread that you can use.

Ahh I read that as in the occultis class instead of the occult classes. Was wondering why someone would ban just that one. Well I think I'll go with the alchemist class. Now to figure out what kind.

Thanks TPK! Rolling gold...

3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5) = 15 x 10 = 150 gp

Unfortunately, my idea of using a Wyvaran won't work... Dragon Disciples can't be of dragon type. I'll probably use a Half-Orc instead.

Thinking good gods. Still trying to formulate a solid picture of the character, so ideas are all over the place. Saranrae, Cayden, Iomedae, Ragathiel to name a few. Suggestions befitting the campaign are definitely welcome.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 1) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 6) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 6) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 4) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 1) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2) = 12 10

That is terrible a 7pt buy

Set 2
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 3) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 5) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 5) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 3) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 1) = 5 4
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 4) = 8 7

Also super terrible like a 5pt buy or something

At least you got your 1s rolled out of your system XD
it means you will be rolling nothing but 6s once the game starts :)
