Death-Lok |

The Knight teeters on the pit but manages to avoid falling in! He leaps to safety and looks at the mage with disdain.
Knight Reflex save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
The beetles rush forward, clicking their mandibles in rhythm, the noise penetrating the party's ears, except Ravarel. The clicking chatter of the eviscerator beetle's mandibles is hypnotic, and living creatures enthralled by the sound do nothing but clutch at their skulls, trying in vain to rid their minds of the terrible sound.
Everyone, except Ravarel, needs to make a DC 23 Will Save or do nothing for the round.
The northern beetle double moves next to Thak. The southern beetle charges the air elemental!
Bite charge: 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 23 + 2 = 27...believe that misses. I don't know Pyrrhus' AC is Air Elemental form.
Will saves first. If successful, you may act.

Pyrrhus Durst |

In Huge Air Elemental form, Pyrrhus AC is 31, so that attack was indeed a miss. Also, his reach is 15ft. so I guess he gets an AoO against the charging beetle.
Pyrrhus easy ignored the beetle chatter and nimbly avoided it's bite, attacking as it came closer.
Will (DC 23): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40
Attack of Opportunity (Slam): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage (Slam): 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 5) + 4 = 11
He then summoned the winds around him and turned himself into a whirlwind, growing in size up to 50ft. high and creating a cloud of debris around him, moving forward to lift the cursed beetle.
"Nature is not always placid..."
Pyrrhus can remain in this form for 6 rounds, requiring any creature that touches/share his space to succeed a DC 26 Reflex save to avoid suffer 2d6+4 damage and another DC 26 Reflex save (only for large or smaller creatures) to avoid being lifted and trapped in the whirlwind. A lifted creature can't move (unless able to fly, in which case is allowed a Reflex save each round) and takes 2d6+4 damage each round, also suffering -4 Dex and -2 on attack rolls. In Whirlwind Shape, Pyrrhus doesn't provokes AoO but also can't attack and doesn't threat an area.
The whirlwind has 5ft. at his base and 25ft. at his top, with a debris cloud of 10ft. radius that obscures all vision (including darkvision) and grants total concealment to creatures beyond 5ft. inside it.
Whirlwind Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10 Reflex DC 26 negates and another Reflex DC 26 to avoid being lifted.
Whirlwind Shape 5/6 rounds.

Death-Lok |

P, under the rules, before you act in the Initiative Order, you are flat-footed. So, no AoO either.
Flat-Footed: At the start of a battle, before you have had a chance to act (specifically, before your first regular turn in the initiative order), you are flat-footed. You can't use your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) while flat-footed.
So without the 6-7 AC points from Dexterity, that 27 was a hit.
Damage with DR 5 factored in: 8d6 + 11 - 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 1) + 11 - 5 + (3, 1) = 38
Pyrrhus, even in air elemental form, you feel the beetle's powerful bite and the necrotic energy coursing through it.
Assuming, you do the same action...
Beetle Reflex save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Beetle Reflex save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
The large beetle gets buffeted by the druid's winds and rises in the eye of the whirlwind.

Kaydanna Krysstalla |

WIL: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Kaydanna focuses divine power from her reverence of Mayaheine like a ray of the sun, and projects a blast of light from her open palm to the Kyuss knight.
Focusing divine power like a ray of the sun, you project a blast of light from your open palm. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack to strike your target. A creature struck by this ray of light takes 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8). An undead creature takes 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 10d6), and an undead creature particularly vulnerable to bright light takes 1d8 points of damage per caster level (maximum 10d8). A construct or inanimate object takes only 1d6 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d6).
Ranged Touch vs Kyuss Knight: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
DMG: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 1, 2) = 27
And then Kaydanna takes a diagnol 5ft step towards the Knight

Thak Val Zsing |

Taking a step back, Thak summons an orb of fire to cook the beetles in their shells. "Companion Pyrrhus; after we conclude this fight" he scowls at the Kyuss knight "we must see how we can share your wounds."
Intensified Empowered Fireball against both beetles, should be able to safely get them.
DC 23 Reflex to halve 13d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 4, 4, 1, 1, 3, 6, 5, 6, 6, 3) = 51*1.5 fire damage

Death-Lok |

Sorry, Kay, I was waiting for the round summary but yes, of course you hit.
Summary of Round:
Kyuss Knight moved up
Rav cast Creat Pit almost capturing the Knight but he jumped to safety and then he moved out of range of the beetles' aura.
The beetles moved into range, striking Pyrrhus and maddening Siggut.
Pyrrhus turned into a whirlwind, lifting the beetle off the ground and buffeting it with winds, but not harming its tough hide.
Kaydanna shot a bolt of searing light at the Kyuss Knight that burned and enraged him.
Thak miscalculated the creature's reach and got bit for his efforts.
Siggut was maddened by the beetles' aura.
Kyuss knight: 27 damage
Thak: 33 damage
Pyrrhus: 38 damage
Round 2: Knight
The knight looks at Kaydanna, "I am Nezzarim, the All-Seing, and I will strike you down in the name of Kyuss!" He charges the warpriest, bastard sword in hand and with expert skill, slices through Kaydanna's defenses. She feels the unholy energy of the blade cut through her body!
Charge: 1d20 + 27 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 27 + 2 + 2 = 41
Damage: 1d10 + 12 + 2d6 ⇒ (10) + 12 + (2, 6) = 30
I know Ravarel is 110' back but to keep him in the map, I placed him there. I know he is out of range of the beetles' aura. Ravarel is up.

Ravarel Darkwood |

Go to Book of Harms.
Maintaining his distance outside the beetles 120ft range
Rav casts a Fireball
1pt from Arcanist Reservoir to increase DC by 2
Uses Arcane Bloodline Metamagic Adept ability to add Selective using a 3rd level slot due to Metamagic Adept
and then adds Harmful Surge as a free action =Maximized
Evocation Spells DC= 19+spell level(School Power +2), +5 HP dam, +1hp dam per die of spell dam (orc bloodline power)
+1DC to metamagicked spells (arcane bloodline power)
+2DC from Arcanist RservoirDC25 75hp fire damage centered on the Kyuss Knight and it should still affect the beetles (if its AOE cannot affect the beetles let me know and i'll post a different action) With Selective spell I exempt my companions from the fireball damage
Rav takes Harmful Surge feedback damage: 3d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 1) = 7

Death-Lok |

Reflex saves:
Knight: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
N Beetle: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
S Beetle: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Nezzarim fails to avoid the blast but does not appear harmed by the fire. The beetle next to Thak gets caught in the blast and burns but it is still up. The other beetle avoids some of the fire.

Death-Lok |

Round 2:
The northern beetle moves in 5 feet, rears back and snaps its mandibles at the cleric,
Power attack bite:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39...threat
Confirmation: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40...ouch!
Damage: 16d6 + 40 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 3, 3, 1, 6, 6, 1, 3, 3, 6, 1, 1, 3, 6) + 40 + (5, 6) = 107
If you use Jingasa, you take instead 63 damage.
The second beetle remains trapped in the druid's whirlwind form, but it continues to clack its mandibles.
Rest of party is up and you have to roll DC 23 Will saves again to act this round.
EDIT: DC 21 Will save, you cannot hear the other one over the roaring wind.

Pyrrhus Durst |

Will (DC 21): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (17) + 21 = 38
Worried about the amount of damage the beetle caused to him, Pyrrhus decided to fortify his skin, making it harder than ever.
Casting Barkskin for +5 natural armor. In whirlwind form, Pyrrhus is still able to cast spells, since he is only forbidden to attack. He also doesn't provoke AoO in this form, but I'll cast defensively just in case.
Cast Defensively (DC 14): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29 I'd also like to discuss the necessity of rolling for this... Pyrrhus modifier is +21 and since there is no failure at a natural 1, he will net at least 22, enough to cast a 6th level spell (his max level spell). So can we agree that he will cast defensively every time?
Pyrrhus then flies upward, intending to show the beetle the beautiful sky before showing how hard is the ground.
Moving 110ft. upwards. Will not release the beetle yet, just next round for a max 20d6 falling damage if that is ok.
Current AC 36, hp 73/111.

Ravarel Darkwood |

Pissed off that the Knight resisted his most potent blast, something he can only do once a day Rav tries another Fireball this time altered to do Acid damage OK fire doesn't work on you. Let's try Acid!
maintaining his distance away from the beetles Rav casts a Selective Fireball centered on the Kyuss Knight changing the Energy type to Acid using Versatile Evocation 9/10 remaining uses and increases DC by 2 using Arcanist Reservoir.
Not using Metamagic Adept this time. So it is a Full Round to cast this metamagicked spell
Evocation Spells DC= 19+spell level(School Power +2), +5 HP dam, +1hp dam per die of spell dam (orc bloodline power)
+1DC to metamagicked spells (arcane bloodline power)
+2DC Arcane Reservoir using 1pt
Selective: doesn't affect allies
Acid damage DC25: 10d6 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 6, 5, 5, 3, 3, 2, 6) + 10 + 5 = 54
the Acid Ball should hit the knight and 1 beetle. I'm not sure if it will hit the one that P is lifting into the air

Thak Val Zsing |

Jingasa.
A barrage of beetle-bites render Thak barely able to maintain his footing, blood pouring from heavy bites. He steps back, and matches Ravarel's magics, summoning his own blast of acid to scorch the creature.
Elemental Rod for Intensified Empowered Fireball (acid), hitting the south beetle and the knight.
DC 23 Reflex to halve 13d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 3, 1, 4, 1, 2, 2, 2, 1, 2, 3) = 39 *1.5 acid damage

Death-Lok |

Thak, you failed to roll the Will save again.
Will save: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24
Acid Ball
Knight Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Beetle Reflex save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Only rolling saves for Thak's spell, as Ravarel's goes off right before his turn.
The acid burns Nezzarim, causing him damage, even though he avoids the brunt with his shield. The beetle burns from the acid but is still alive.
Yes, Kay, map is the same except that the druid and the beetle are 55' up in the air.

Kaydanna Krysstalla |

As a free action Kaydanna enchants her sword for good (Warpriest good blessing) as a swift action Kaydanna uses one of her fervors to heal herself Fervor Self Heal: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 2) = 15 and as a standard action she attacks

Death-Lok |

Summary of Round:
Nezzarim charged Kaydanna, inflicting a heavy blow
Ravarel began casting a full-round spell
One beetle was trapped in the druid’s whirwind; the other bit the cleric, almost killing him but for the magic of his item
Druid cast protective magic and flew upward with trapped beetle
The dwarf was still confused by the beetle’s aura.
Kaydanna healed herself a bit and attacked the knight, but both blows were blocked by his shield.
Nezzarim: -56
N Beetle: -133
S Beetle: -37
Round 2:
Nezzarim curses the dwarven cleric, who just burned him with acid. "You will die for that, priest!" He grips his bastard sword, moves around Kaydanna, taking a hit, moves around the confused dwarf and brings the sword to bear on the wounded dwarf! He plunges the unholy bastard sword through the dwarf's chest, who collapses to the ground, seemingly dead.
Improved Vital Strike Attack: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (19) + 29 = 48...critical threat
Confirmation: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (6) + 29 = 35...confirmed
Damage: 3d10 + 1d10 + 24 + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 10) + (7) + 24 + (5, 6) = 59
Knight Reflex save vs. Rav's acid ball: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Beetle Reflex save vs. Acid ball: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Ravarel's explosion of acid covers the knight and beetle! The undead beetle melts away, while Nezzarim screams in pain!
I don't know if anyone has Breath of Life or something similar to save Thak, but at negative Con, he is dead otherwise.
Kay, don't forget AoO. Then Ravarel and then the entire party is up, since the beetle causing the confusion is dead and you can't hear the trapped one.

Pyrrhus Durst |

Pyrrhus flies towards the pit created by the elf 50 ft. movement then up again. 30ft. up (half from his remaining 60ft.). This movement is to put the beetle completely inside the pit area.
The druid then lets it fall, following with a rain of ice and stone.
"Feel the wrath!"

Kaydanna Krysstalla |

Kaydanna calls upon the divine power of Mayahaine and sends a burst of holy energy just to the right of the beetle affecting both the beetle and the undead warrior
You draw down holy power to smite your enemies. Only evil and neutral creatures are harmed by the spell; good creatures are unaffected.
The spell deals 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8) to each evil creature in the area (or 1d6 points of damage per caster level, maximum 10d6, to an evil outsider) and causes it to become blinded for 1 round. A successful Will saving throw reduces damage to half and negates the blinded effect.

Ravarel Darkwood |

at this point a lot depends on Thak. Does he want to continue as Thak? In which case maybe you could allow us to retcon the purchase of Breath of Life and Raise Dead scrolls in Magepoint (which intelligent, veteran adventures would have purchased, too bad my characters 25Int does not rub off on his player)
or is he still mulling over a new character?
In the meantime Rav descends to examine the corpse of the Kyuss Knight (ignoring for the moment the dead cleric until a decision has been made)
detect magic...in particular looking for what allowed the knight to resist his Ravs powerful Fireball
spellcraft to identify: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36

Kaydanna Krysstalla |

Kaydanna will offer prayers to her fallen comrade. After that she will regain her composure and attend to matters at hand.
"Such powerful foes. Obviously someone does not want us to enter this place. Have we anyone who is a sneak?"

Death-Lok |

Ravarel detects two spell auras of magical protections on the fallen knight: one to enhance his strength and the second to protect him from magical energy. In addition, his sword, armor, and shield radiate magic.
+1 unholy bastard sword, +2 full plate, and +1 heavy steel shield.
Also, Thak will be making a new character, so we can rp until the mechanics are completed.

Pyrrhus Durst |

"We lost this battle then... from the enemy side, they only lost unholy and broken vessels, a pale loos compared to our own... he shall not be left to rot in this forsaken place... if you allow me, I'll take his body outside this walls and bury him. It'll not take more than a couple minutes in this thunderous form."
The air elemental looked around, waiting for an answer.

Ravarel Darkwood |

Looking at the spot where the Clerics body disappeared into the ground
"Not an auspicious start to our mission"

Death-Lok |

As you ponder your next step, the druid and Kaydanna's eyes are immediately drawn to movement coming from behind you, as you see a figure walking on air over the obsidian wall. As it comes closer, you see it is a bald dark-skinned man concealed beneath white face-paint around the eyes and patterned like teeth around the mouth, wearing a long headdress of dark violet feathers. He wears an old battered metal breastplate and old wooden shield with purple and white Olman sigil. He stops in mid-air, surprised by your presence. His eyes widen and he looks to the east and west, as if muttering to someone. "If you destroyed them,", pointing over to the undead knight and beetles, "then I assume you are enemy of Kyuss, correct?"

Ravarel Darkwood |

"Yes ..we are enemies of Kyuss. Are you as well?"

Dazl |

The man with the skeletal facepaint cocks his head to the side as if listening to someone close by. He nods to himself or to something, then looks up and grins widely at you all, remaining in his bentover half-crouched position. "Then I'm blessed! Ha, allies in cause! Praise the twilight!" He raises his shield up towards the sun and shakes it a little. "Dazl I am, priest of the twilight, man of the harming heal and healing heal. I came here seeking dread-Kyuss, rotten-Kyuss, destroyer-Kyss. And here I find allies as well! Truly a blessing from the twilight!"
He cocks his head to the side again. "I leave now to face the Kyuss-taint in this place; see if my healharm can defeat him. But no twilight-priest is complete without allies and warriors! Join me, you?"

Ravarel Darkwood |

WOW... I expected his opening line to be "Why so serious?"
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Welcome Dazl. Know that our road is perilous. We lost Thak, a Holy Man right here, at the spot where our quest begins. Join me? Join us? It matters not. Fates brought you here this day and that is enough for me."
turning to the others "what say you all? Shall we join forces with Dazl? His goals appear to be the same as ours. And I for one, see the hand of Fate in his arrival here at this sad time"
variant channeling...interesting. I've never seen it used
