Part of it is the fact that Supernova is my one trick at the moment. Until I get more solar revelations, I'm mostly hitting things with my sword.

You are a solider, just like me! A melee fighter with a terrible armor class...

check it! A Roll20 Starfinder character sheet. link

Since I didn't answer it in my post Sydney: Batteries don't automatically recharge after resting. You need access to some source of power like the Acreon's power core to recharge them. While in this case you guys have a ready supply of power, that may not be the case in more isolated areas you come across in the future. Having spare batteries is not a terrible idea.

GM Cellion |

Yeah, Wed and Thurs were terrible. Really bad timing too, the PbP Gameday just started up!

This item is actually really cool for someone who uses a weapon with a battery:
Backup Generator
You can connect charged electric items such as batteries to this miniature generator to recharge them. The electricity comes from the kinetic energy of your movement, which generates 1 charge every 10 minutes of movement. No more than one item can be plugged in at a time, and the generator doesn’t produce charges when you’re resting or otherwise stationary.
With this, you only need 2 batteries. One for your gun, and a spare that you keep charging up. It goes into an armor upgrade slot, but no one has claimed it yet.

Hi everyone! Hope paizo stays alive this time! Missed playing!
In my boredom I put Isu's charactersheet on Roll20, and I bought the new armory book. If the boards crash too often, I'll go broke.

GM Cellion |

Yeah! Total PbP withdrawl symptoms :>

Solaria Jesari |

Great to be back .... and need my fix of pbp..

GM Cellion |

Nice! Happy birthday Arc!

Solaria Jesari |

Belated Birthday greetings Arc and Happy Birthday Sydney, P.S. got married on 3rd Sept.
Apologies for not being with you, but with the goblins eating the paizo servers and my wife and mine's 30 year wedding anniversary, left little time for play.

GM Cellion |

You crit only on a natural 20 in Starfinder; ie. it has to be the value rolled by your die. (Also you're probably thinking of Pathfinder's 19-20 range for longswords)

![]() |

Nice job, folks! I feel like we are dealing good damage pretty quick!
As for that forcefield thing, Arc-- that is what Cellion and I are talking about in our ooc on the gameplay page. The writing of the module makes it sound better than it really is. It is attached to my armor, but it only protects me, and it only protects 1 SP/HP a turn.

![]() |

Plus, here at the hotel we had the San Francisco 49ers for the past couple of days, so they wanted everyone to be on their A-game.
One tactical question: I've got enough Photon power to Supernova, but I could also Stellar Rush instead. Which would be more effective against this thing?

GM Cellion |

I think weekends are generally slow. Saturday was Moltres community day in Pokemon Go.
Ah, that explains why I saw so many people out walking in the park with their phones on Sat!
@Arc: Might be that neither are very useful right now (no need to charge, no need for AoE).

![]() |

I just worry that if I use my sword instead, I'll miss, meaning less damage to it which will drag the fight on longer, giving it more chances to finish Isu off. I dont want Isu to die! :(

![]() |

I'm not too confident to be honest. Let's hope they won't be replacing both Arcalinte and Isu!
But I do have a great backup character ready to go.

GM Cellion |

Either way, go ahead and post an action Arc so we can push the round forwards!

![]() |

hey! nice job Arc, you got to do your rush!! And you seemed to resist his healing attack which (if it works like vampiric touch in Pathfinder) could have healed him for a lot more than it did. If we really pour the damage on now I bet we can take him!

GM Cellion |

Nice fight guys! As Isu mentioned in Gameplay, this can be a particularly nasty fight with one or more deaths, as the garaggakal is a big step up in deadliness from the other creatures you've fought on the Drift Rock. It can be particularly bad in situations where you haven't recently gone back to rest. Coming into that one with half resources or lower, people still afflicted with void death, or HP and SP not full can be a death sentence for a poor PC!
Thankfully, with some good tactics and good luck (I rolled mercifully low for the garaggakal) you've pulled through!
---
With this deadly boss down, we are effectively at the end of the first book. I hope everyone has been having fun so far and is ready and eager to continue onwards! If people have any feedback on how I've been running things, questions about Book 1, or commentary on anything, feel free to throw it out there :>
Additionally, while the original plan for this campaign while Snow was running it was to NOT submit it for Starfinder Society Credit, I've since learned that running the game in "campaign mode" still qualifies you for credit! (Basically, playing in campaign mode means that you're playing in a home game with custom characters that don't have to meet Starfinder Society's character building restrictions)
So! If any of you guys have Starfinder Society characters that you'd like to apply credit to, please post the character name and SFS#. If you aren't a Starfinder Society member, you can sign up for an SFS# on this website, and this adventure can get you credit on your first new character. If you're not interested in any SFS play, it can't hurt to get a number anyway (you never know when you might decide to try it out). But if you definitely don't have and don't want an SFS number, please specify that here in discussion so I know not to wait for you to post one.

![]() |

Isu has a SFS number.
# 258259-703
Are we level 3? please please please

![]() |

@Ted: Your top is super interesting and thematic, and happens to kick a lot of alien rear, too!
I'll go ahead and put some credit on:
Storm Kii: 132076-702
Thanks!

Solaria Jesari |

I've had a blast, even if Solaria could have been better built to help the party, but its a learning thing, and Solaria's society self has benefited....
Looking forward to see how she develops and how envoys can work in the game and getting another level ... ;-)
I will put this towards 12784-704, cos he will either be a Draelick or Wychwyrd when I get round to fleshing the character out ... It's all been GM credits so far.

Clever feint was EXTREMELY useful against that high AC monster. I wasn't keeping track, but several close hits would have been misses without, which could have extended the battle by 1-2 rounds, which could have resulted in a player death!

GM Cellion |

Yep! Clever feint was amazing in this particular combat! I think at least two or three attacks would have missed by 2 or less (its KAC was 19).
Arc, all you need is a SFS number if you don't have one. I can assign the credit to a non-existent character, and then you can make that character from scratch (with your credit from this included) at your leisure if you ever feel you want to give SFS a try.
As for leveling up...
More seriously though, its coming up very soon!

![]() |

wha--- what! BOOOOO Cellion!

![]() |

Also credit where it is due-- without Ted we would have gotten smoked. High damage each round, never misses... good job Ted!

Solaria Jesari |

I was really thinking that Solaria could have taken an envoy improvisation which can restore some Stamina Points back to people during a fight, which would have been really useful for our party with no way to recover health easily.
I really like the clever feint when it can work, later she can do that as a move action and get a shot in herself, but that's for when we get up a few more levels.
Yeah it was a battle all were able to contribute in, as said, Ted did a great job with magic, Spectre provided some flanking, with Sydney, Arc and Isu providing the traditional hits in melee or range. We were lucky to all get out alive, but glad we did.

![]() |

Without Isu soaking up a couple of character deaths worth of damage we'd have been goners. I'm excited to get some more spell options besides just full round magic missiles. It was a full party win! GO TEAM!
I especially liked the suicidal grenade toss at the end. The RPG Gods smiled at that one for sure and granted survival.
