Darque Naia |

'So from here on in I expect the drow at every corner, door and cranny."
Naia pauses for full effect before waving a hand palm up toward the door as an usher and favors the assembled adventurers with a sickly sweet smile.
"So. Who wants to go first?"

![]() |

With sword and board at the ready, Roland starts walking forward through rooms and stops at an unexplored door.
Moving through rooms #3, 4, stopping in room #6.
"Well let us begin again then." as he stares at the door, with obviously no skill at determining if it is trapped or not.
"Yep, not a clue how you guys checked these doors before."

DajellyMan |

Roland, as soon as you open the door from the courtyard...
arrowed!: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 341d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Roland Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Roland is caught off guard by a makeshift arrow trap! He takes a small quarrel to the neck, and then proceeds to pass out fast asleep. After a moment, three drow jump out, rapiers drawn!

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth follows suit, drawing two MW daggers with an evil grin
Charge 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 7 for 1d4 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 9
AC down by 2

Darque Naia |

Naia whips out her scimitar and short blade, lunging at the drow nearest Roland's recumbent form.

Slash!: 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 2 = 9 [+1 Str, +2 PA]
Awesome, I crit fumbled my masterwork scimitar. Do I cut my own head off? ;P

DajellyMan |

On rolls of natural one, I will roll on this table here to determine what happens.
Round 1
Roland - zzZZzzZZzz
Ealasaid - Takes one side of the door, and charges forward at one of the oncoming drow ambushers! She swings her flail with the strength of a greek hero, but the drow is quick and nimbly steps aside!
Rameth - Fumble: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Attempts to charge the drow as well, famous drow-killing daggers at the ready! However, he trips on a piece of rubble and looses his balance! (Loose next action, Rameth!)
Namon - Gestures at the approaching enemies, seeing his allies failing to take them down! He invokes the powers of the eighth and unleashes a vision of hell upon the drow!
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
But the drow keeps his bearings and shrugs off the spell.
Naia - Fumble: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Naia steps up and swings her short sword and scimitar in brilliant slayer fashion... and then looses her grip and her scimitar goes clanging to the ground! (drop weapon in adjacent square).
Quartle - Fumble: 1d20 ⇒ 17
steps up attempts to poke at the enemy with his longspear, but he misjudges his attack and looses his balance a bit, feeling a bit wobbly! (flat footed until next turn!).
_____________________________

A rapier rushes towards Rameth, but the adventurer is able to narrowly deflect the blow with his knives.
Attack vs Ealasaid: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d6 ⇒ 5
A rapier slips through the blood rager's defenses, hitting her in the side and dealing 5 damage!
Attack vs Naia: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d6 ⇒ 2
Naia is also unlucky, and takes a pointy rapier to the shoulder, getting knicked for 2 damage!

round 2

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth does nothibg

Darque Naia |

Naia screeches twice in a most un-ladylike fashion as she both drops her scimitar and gets cut. She throws her shortsword after the scimitar, and draws her greatsword with lightning speed...
"F*(k this. Time to get serious." she murmurs through gritted teeth.
Swift Action - drop shortsword
Free Action - quick draw greatsword
Free Action - swear moodily
Standard Action - Attack drow aggressor
Chop: 1d20 + 2 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 3 - 1 = 11 [BAB, Str, PA]

Sorry 'bout the delay fellas

Round 2
Quartle - stumbles a bit and tries to clear the fog out of his mind as he does some shaman business and casts a spell upon Rameth. The investigator then begins to swell in size until he is a towering enlarged version of himself!
Rameth - despite being now large and in charge, he is still reeling from his previous blunder and struggles to regain himself.
Ealasaid - steps up and swings her mighty flail at the nearest drow, but just can't seem to land a decent blow!
Roland - continues to be affected by the drowish sleep poisons.
Naia - swears rather moodily (;p) and puts on her warrior face, and then proceeds to... continue to not hit anything with her greatsword.
Namon - Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Jeez, I almost feel bad!
Namon summons up another demonic vision of evil and tries to scared the pants off the drow currently fighting Ealasaid, but these drow just seem unflinching in their bravery!
__________________
Drow - the dark elves continue their assault of poking at the party with point rapiers! Luckily, the bulkier melee oriented party members have effectively created a barrier in the doorway.
Rapier vs Ealasaid: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d6 ⇒ 2
Rapier vs Naia: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d6 ⇒ 3
Rapier vs Rameth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d6 ⇒ 3
Fumble: 1d20 ⇒ 5
The drow attack Naia lunges forward, but Naia, as pissed off as she is, moves with the speed of a cornered badger and deftly doges the attack. The drow's rapier keeps going, however, and lunges straight at the drow engaged with Ealasaid, dealing it 3 damage!

round 3 actions, everyone!
Round 3
Rameth - finally recovering his bearings, decides enough is enough! he takes a step backward, putting himself against the wall, and then slashes forward with his dagger! He manages to land a perfect blow, slashing the drow's neck wide open and dropping it to the ground, blood spilling out from its neck.

Ealasaid of the Golden hair |

Finally! - Say eallasaid when the drow blood is spiled.
Attack + dmg: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d10 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
If posble, Ealasaid ry to 5 ft and flank with rammet or darque (another +2 to attack)

Quartle |

Quartle concentrates for a moment calling again on the spirits of the past battles that haunt the citadel. Drawing on their power, he raises a webbed hand, waiting to heal any allies the drow manage to strike a grievous wound against.
Ready action to cast cure light wounds if Ealasaid or Naia take another wound. Will heal up to 13 hp.

Rameth the Delver |

It would appear they just don't learn, do they Froggy?
Rameth says as he leaves that dagger in the throat of his foe, and pulls a regular sharpened one.
1 MW shaprpened and 1 reg sharpened in hand

Darque Naia |

Naia laughs at the drow's mistake and hacks down at the hapless creature's outstretched arms...
Standard Action - Hack at drow!
Chop: 1d20 + 2 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 3 - 1 = 16 [BAB, Str, PA]
Splott!: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12

Darque Naia |

Did I cut the drow's outstretched arms off? Geysers of blood and bloodcurdling screams?
Naia wipes the spray of blood from her face, gathers up her discarded blades and kneels down to rifle through the amputee drow's gear.

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth begins to go through the bodies for loot, then he takes time to sharpen his dagger again, unless they need to move immediately.
Anyone else tired of these guys, and lets try to get Roland up

Darque Naia |

Naia realises she put greed before Roland's wellbeing, and remembers Rameth's care when she was similarly knocked out by drow poison. She hides her shame with characteristic bravado.
"Damn I'm tired of the drow and we're entering their newly prepared nest! If only we could continue to draw them out as we did before, or somehow trick them further. "
She idly balances her foot on a drow helm.
"I guess dressing up as drow won't work for Quartle or any of you talk folk."

Namon Nazzar |

Perhaps we can smoke the drow out, find the nest and then pile enough wood in front of the entrances and set them alight. The smoke will in these cramped tunnels travel fast and fill the air, the drow will either flee ino our waiting trap or they will die from inhaling the smoke...

Quartle |

Quartle draws the wand as the others mull over the gear of the drow and what we should do next. "I think that gear might be a little big for me Naia."
Wand of cure light wounds on Roland 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Wand of cure light wounds on Ealasaid 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Wand of cure light wounds on Naia 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
47/50 charges remain

Darque Naia |

Perhaps we can smoke the drow out, find the nest and then pile enough wood in front of the entrances and set them alight. The smoke will in these cramped tunnels travel fast and fill the air, the drow will either flee ino our waiting trap or they will die from inhaling the smoke...
I don't know what it is about fire, but in two PbP's we are burning the buildings (one, oldskool Against the Giants G1 meets DnD Next, my half-orc monk suggested we set fire to the Steading, the other, a PF Dark Sun the party Preserver just set fire to a Defiler's hut; in a third PbP, my social idiot Gondsman (Warforged) Druid in Baldur's Gate meets DnD Next also suggested smoking out a warren of goblins.
As for "nest", Naia was merely being poetic. I'm pretty sure the stone citadel will resist the vagaries of fire, and the drow will merely withdraw into the Underdark and "resurface" later…. I obviously heartily approve of such outside the box thinking Namon…

![]() |

Looking at the the worked stone walls and recalling the passage ways from his family's estates, he just shakes his head smirking, thinking to himself.
Little Pyromaniac
After listening to the suggestions on how to proceed, "I think we will need to stay a little more alert of the nasty traps that these Drow are starting to deploy. If some of you think you can pass yourself off as a Drow in their gear, I will not distract you from your endeavor, but I can not also use those skills of deception."
"Thank you Quartle for the healing of Iomedae. For only she allows divine magics to provide me comfort and rest, or to test my devotion to her," as he takes a knee and offers a silent prayer to Iomedae.

![]() |

"Ealasaid, I see the insight of your words and understand the meaning of them. It is true, you were successful in removing the immediate threat to my person."
With that he stays on his knee and offers another prayer.
"Inheritor, I offer yet thanks again. For not only do you test my skills and devotion, but you also test my allies skill at arms. For only the true and righteous should be able to travel with your servant. And if they may have darkness in them, let your Light shine on them and lead them to your path."
He stands and offers each of the ladies, that fought to protect him, a small wooden holy symbol of Iomedae.

Ealasaid of the Golden hair |

Ealasaid receive the Iomedae holy symbol with a little smile on her face. Men like Roland surprise her, for her the gods are so far apart that they are meaningless.
Still, she keep the symbol just because.

Rameth the Delver |

I don't think I would call myself a lady…

Rameth the Delver |

More of an Irori man myself, but thank you.
He says as he drops it into his pouch.
