Haha look up time cube. There's a time conspiracy for you.

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

Good grief - looks like someone had a problem with cut & paste, and then was possessed by the spirit of font changes.

You're playing my tune Xrezth!

Time is a figment of our imagination. So the conspirators are Us!

(and in the Biggest picture anyway, nothing nefarious about it ; )

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I'm finding myself in a difficult position of how to play Dogar when character info is given to me as a player that Dogar doesn't know. I had Dogar ask that question to the 'air' (as in wherever that voice came from before) because, on his own, he would never think rescue the man being tortured. He simply doesn't care and it's none of his business. What's the point in expending effort and engaging possible risk if there's nothing in it for him?

So I kind of feel like I would have preferred if you hadn't given us OOC Player info like "You don't have to save the man to get out of the dungeon alive, though doing so would make things easier. (He did say he was a priest)"

If that info had been given to Dogar, then he could have made a choice based on that info whether to help the man or not. But for me to make Dogar do that, would seem to be...unrealistic and against his nature based on what he knows at present.

Does this make sense at all?

Course, at this point, he may just decide to kill the crazy chick anyway cuz she's starting to get on his nerves ;-)

I planned to have Dashuun kill her as a matter of greed, malice, and impatience. Everyone else is hung up, and he's not so stupid as to tread these halls alone.

RETIRED Male Goblin Goblinja 1

Zodt doesnt really care. It isnt a dog or a horse, it isnt attacking him. He's not supposed to harm innocents but he doesnt have to help them either. He is waiting to see what the rest of the group (or the priest) do.

Kassen Battle Maps | RotRL Battle Maps

Heh, sorry. I haven't been playing nearly as long as most of the people on these boards. I'm still learning and I will make mistakes, so I'll ask you to bear with me when I inevitably screw up royally. As long as everyone is having fun, I feel like I'm succeeding.

You can attack her at anytime you feel like you need to, or want to. I'm having fun, but I have other encounters that'll be just as fun RP-wise planned. She's not going to object to people coming into the room. She is a slightly nymphomaniac hedonist after all. :)

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I think I came up with something that fits Dogar ; )

And no worries mate! Everyone was new at some point and we all make mistakes. Doing a good job so far and I have no doubt you'll just get better and better. And as for fun, being able to RP a Non Goody type is Great fun! Loving it! : D

RETIRED Male Goblin Goblinja 1

id say you played it pretty well according to what you described for Dogar

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Thanks!

Kassen Battle Maps | RotRL Battle Maps

Same here.

Sadly I don't think this fight is going to last long. Xrezth took a chunk out of her HP and She gets to got again along with the rogue before she can even act.

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

Hey, I don't have patience for those who do not want to listen to me. It is psychological warfare after all (with a little scimitar thrown in.)

Kassen Battle Maps | RotRL Battle Maps

Just a quick question. Who here would be interested in being in a Way of the Wicked game?

M Humanborn

no idea what that is

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

RAISES HAND REALLY FAST!!!!!

This character was made for it. And I also have a dhampir summoner, Judge Tohram Quasangi, made for WotW.

Way of the Wicked is an Evil campaign, no psychotics allowed, in which the nation is Lawful Goody Goody. And worship of the ever popular Asmodeus has been banned. You start out as prisoners having committed a number of misdemeanors - murder, treason, extortion, slavery, piracy, and the like. You have to break out of prison and then work you way up to eventually overthrowing the government. At least I think that is what it is. I have only seen the recruitments and have really resisted reading any of the gameplay threads on the 3-4 WotW campaigns going on right now.

Generally it uses a focus/foible system for characters - 18, 8, 4x1d10+7 are your stats. You can place the 18 and 8 wherever you want, but have to take the other 4 in the order rolled. If you roll really crappy, there is always the option of a 25 point buy. It has a bunch of other additional stuff I think as well, extra skill points, dark lords, and other fun things.

Here is the recruitment thread for one of the current games - don't post on this one as they are not recruiting at present, despite my attempts to convince the DM otherwise.

Way of the Wicked sample recruitment for anyone interested.

Damn, ninjaed by a subsequent post because I was editing my first post.

Female Aasimar (archon-blooded) Inquisitor 01

It's a third party campaign.

Way of the Wicked

Female Aasimar (archon-blooded) Inquisitor 01

Mmmh, no, I'm in 6 pbp campaigns right now and if I play a 7th I want it to be Shattered Star

M Humanborn

i suppose i could be interested. I currently want to play an Undead Lord Cleric (havent played a necromancer since 3.5, i wonder how it plays in PF) and he would certainly be LE

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Sounds fun. I'd be in : )

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I'll be away for the weekend, don't know if I'll have net access, so if there's the need to DMPC my PC, please do. See ya!

If I do run it now, it takes the place of this one. I don't have time to try and run three games. Two is pushing it.

So, that said, if you guys want I can wait until we finish this dungeon (Only God knows when that will happen.) or I can go ahead and get things ready for the Way of the Wicked AP and run this group through that. You can keep your characters if you want and tweak them to fit in with Talingarde, or create new ones.

I will be honest, I think you'll enjoy that more than this. I'm literally making this up as I go, and I'm not that good at thinking off the top of my head.

Whatever works. I'd like to burn thingss

M Humanborn

thats fine with me, world domination sounds more fun than redeeming myself haha

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

Sounds good. Would you use the WotW character stuff?

Extra non-combat feat
Focus/Foible for stats
Extra 2 skill ranks per level
etc?

I will have to decide on whether I want to go with this character or the summoner. I like both of them.

--> DM-Salsa, I think you will enjoy the AP as well as it will reduce your grunt work and allow you to have more fun with the NPC's in the campaign rather than spending all your time trying to create and balance encounters.

M Humanborn

yeah for WotW i plan on a Dhampir Undead Lord Cleric. There are so many great crimes to choose from, i dont know which to go for! i am thinking desecration of a church of mitra. perhaps i sent an undead horse galloping through the church! hahaha

Furthermore, my character will have been raised as a slave by a cruel tribe of orcs and half-orcs after being abandoned at birth when the taint of death was discovered in him. His mother was dominated by his vampire father, the mother fled the city to go to a frontier village to have the baby. unfortunately for all involved, the village was the subject of a brutal orc raid. His powers over undeath grew in his later teen years, and his well-laid plan came to pass. He effected his escape from the orc clan by animating fallen tribesmen and having them attack the tribe from time to time. they were always struck down easily, but the effect of having to fight their undead brethren took a heavy mental toll on the warriors. they grew crazed, insane. when the tribe had finally grown ragged, tired, few in number and weak, he used the other slaves he had cowed with fear to break the bars on their cage and he rode off into the night on a stolen horse.

Ah, ok. Then of course I'm interessed. Let us know what changes would be needed.

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

I think that the first AP is a free download. It has all the players info and the traits, etc. Just be careful as it goes from players info to DM stuff sort of without warning.

Or just read the link I posted. Xzaral's campaign that I posted above has most of the standard campaign info.

Kassen Battle Maps | RotRL Battle Maps

okay, It looks like we have a consensus. I want to hear from Gaius and Lucias's players before I get everything set up.

I'll be posting character creation guide lines later.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (Infernal Bloodline)

I'm in for WotW

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Alright then. It looks like Gaius is not on right now, so I'll go ahead and get things moving. You can create another character, or just modify the one you have. (Sorry Zodt, I'm afraid no goblins. Nothing says you can't be a gnome though.)

Character creation Guidelines:
-Paizo material only
-Focus and Foible stat selection: Pick two stats, one that you you focus on (18 in that stat), the other is the Foible (8 in that stat). Roll 1d10+7 straight down for the other four.
-One background trait and one crime trait: See spoiler below for Crime Traits. The other can be from any Paizo source.

Crime Traits:

Arson
You have willfully started a fire that destroyed property.
To be sent to Branderscar, you didn’t start just a minor
little trash fire. Your act of arson threatened a major
town, city, church or castle and likely cost someone their
life. You’ll be punished for your crime by facing the fire
yourself.
Punishment: Death by burning
Benefit: Whenever you score a critical hit with a fire
attack, you receive a +2 fire damage bonus to your
damage roll. This bonus is a trait bonus.

Attempted Murder
You tried to kill someone and botched the job. To be
sent to Branderscar Prison, you did not try to kill just
anyone. You likely assaulted someone of great
importance and prominence.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You gain a +2 trait bonus to Intimidate
checks, and Intimidate is always a class
skill for you.

Blasphemy
Either you have defamed the great god Mitra or you have
been found guilty of worshipping one of the forbidden
deities (who preeminent among them is Asmodeus).
Punishment: Death by burning
Benefit: +2 trait bonus to Knowledge (religion) and
Knowledge (religion) is always a class skill for you.

Consorting with the Dark Powers
(Witchcraft)
You have been found guilty of summoning an evil outsider.
Likely you were captured by the famed witch hunter
Sir Balin of Karfeld. The last thing he said to you was,
“May Mitra have mercy upon your wretched, damned
soul.” If only you could get a chance at revenge!
Punishment: Death by burning
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Knowledge
(planes) and Knowledge (arcana) checks, and one of
these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.

Desecration
You have violated one of the churchs, cathedrals or holy
shrines of the great god Mitra. To be sent to Branderscar
this was no minor act of vandalism. Instead you have
done something flagrant and spectacular to dishonor the
Shining Lord.
Punishment: Death by burning
Benefit: You receive +1 trait bonus on all saving
throws against divine spells.

Desertion
You have deserted from the Talirean military and been
recaptured. To get sent to Branderscar this was not some
minor or routine dereliction of duty. Instead, you abandoned
your post during a time of crisis -- perhaps battle
or while defending the Watch Wall. Regardless of the
exact circumstances, your laziness and cowardness must
have caused loss of life.
Punishment: Death by hanging
Benefit: You receive one bonus skill point per level
that must be spent on the Profession (Soldier) skill.
Profession (Soldier) is always a class skill for you.

Dueling unto Death
You have engaged in a duel to the death and mortally
wounded an opponent. The opponent was honorable
enough to say nothing before he expired. Alas that his
family or companions was nowhere near so honorable.
Dueling was once common in Talingarde before the
House of Darius came to power. The House of Barca all
but encouraged duels of honor. Now, dueling of any sort
is punished severely. Dueling to the death is a sure way
to be sent to Branderscar Prison.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus to Fortitude saves

Extortion
You have defrauded money from someone by holding
information of their wrongdoing over their heads. To
end up in Branderscar, this was no minor act of merely
threatening to expose someone. Instead you ave attempted
extortion against someone of great prominence
and for exorbitant stakes.
Punishment: Life at hard labor in the salt mines
Benefit: You receive a +2 trait bonus to Intimidate
checks, and Intimidate is always a class skill for you.

Forgery
You have forged documents issued either by the crown
or by the Church of Mitra. Alas, that your forgery while
competent was not entirely undetectable. To be sent to
Branderscar, this was no minor finagling of paperwork.
This forged document could have cost lives, undermined
the reputation of the Church or endangered the security
of the realm.
Punishment: Life at hard labor in the salt mines
Benefit: You gain a +3 trait bonus to Linguistics skill
checks to commit forgery and Linguistics is always a
class skill for you.

Fraud
You tried to bilk someone out of their cash. To end up
in Brandescar Prison, this was no petty con job or penny
ante racket. Instead, you brazenly tried to defraud someone
important of a huge sum of money. And it almost
worked too!
Punishment:[/i] Life at hard labor in the salt mines
Benefit: You receive a +2 trait bonus to Bluff checks
and Bluff is always a class kill for you.

Grave Robbery
It is forbidden by sacred law to dishonor a corpse after it
is been sealed in its tomb by a clergy of the Mitran faith.
Some may not honor this ban: necromancers, golem
crafters, self-styled scientists, and alchemists delving into
the forbidden secrets of life and death. These ghouls can
expect no mercy from the Talirean Magistrates. And by
sending you to Branderscar Prison, you have received
none.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to confirm critical
hits

Heresy
You have denied the supremacy of Mitra and been condemned
for it. For this to be a crime, you were not content
to keep your heresy to yourself. You tried to sway
others. Likely you were captured by the famed witch
hunter Sir Balin of Karfeld. The last thing he said to you
was: “Mitra may forgive you yet for your lies. Talingarde
will not.” If only you could get a chance at revenge!
Punishment: Death by burning.
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus on all saving
throws against divine spells.

High Theft
You had a foolproof plan to steal some great treasure.
Alas, the scheme had a fatal flaw and went horribly awry.
To be sent to Branderscar prison, this was no ordinary
robbery attempt. You tried to steal something of great
value or religious significance.
Punishment: Life at hard labor in the salt mines
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Reflex saves.

High Treason
You have willfully worked to bring down the current
Monarch of Talingarde -- the beloved King Markadian V
called the Brave of House Darius. To be successfully tried
for High Treason you have done more than merely dislike
the king, you did something tangible to undermine his
rule. Alas, that you failed at your plot and are now headed
to Branderscar Prison. Treason is the only crime that
is still punished by the gruesome ritual of being drawn
and quartered. Your stay at Branderscar will be brief.
Punishment: Death by drawing and quartering
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Will saves.

Kidnapping
You have abducted someone perhaps to ransom them
or do unspeakable things to them. Unfortunately, you
were caught and your victim was rescued (if they weren’t
rescued -- you would be guilty of murder instead). To
be sent to Branderscar Prison, you must have abducted
someone of great importance or in a particularly gruesome
manner.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to both Disarm
and Grapple attempts.

Murder
You have killed without just cause and been condemned
for it. To be sent to Branderscar Prison, this was no typical
killing but a particularly savage and unforgiveable act.
You may also have killed someone with powerful friends.
Note: You are not allowed to have killed someone in
the royal family of Talingarde. You may have tried (this
would instead be High Treason -- see above) but ultimately
they are too well protected.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You deal 1 additional point of damage when
flanking a foe. This additional damage is a trait bonus.

Piracy
You have been caught in the act of piracy on the high
seas. This is a rare crime these days since Markadian I
called the Victorious burned the last major pirate fleet to
threaten these isles. Still the crime is punished harshly.
Likely you are the sole survivor of your ship.
Punishment: Death by hanging
Benefit: You may select either Bluff or Intimidate.
The selected skill receives a +2 trait bonus and is always
a class skill for you.

Sedition
You have attempted to covertly stir up rebellion against
your rightful sovereign. This differs from high treason
in that you attempted to convince others to make war
against Talingarde instead of taking direct action yourself.
A subtle difference to be sure. But it is the difference
between receiving the swift justice of the axe instead
of the slow suffering upon the rack.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Bluff checks
and Bluff is always a class skill for you. Further if you
ever take the Leadership feat, you gain a +1 trait bonus
to your Leadership score.

Slave-Taking
Slavery is illegal in Talingarde and a very rare crime. Still,
once in a great while, slavers from the mainland will foolishly
make an incursion into Talirean protected territories.
When they are captured alive they are always made
an example of.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to both Disarm
and Grapple attempts.

Slave Trading
Slavery is legal in other parts of the world and it can be
tempting to the most decadent of Talingarde’s nobility
to acquire a “souvenir” when traveling abroad or to
purchase the object of their desire from a less reputable
merchant. However you ended up trading slaves in Talingarde,
you were caught red handed and now you will
lose more than simply your freedom.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You receive one bonus skill point per level
that must be spent on the Appraise skill. The Appraise
skill is always a class skill for you.

-No monster-type races: This means no goblinoids, orcs, or anything else that might be killed on sight. (As much as I like Zodt, I think a goblin wouldn't be getting a trail and sent to prison after reading the first part.)
-No Chaotic Evil: Trying to avoid some pitfalls of evil campaigns
-Must be Evil: The above said, you don't get sent to Banderscar Prison for jaywalking.
-Anti-Paladins are Lawful Evil: Replace the "anarchic" quality with "axiomatic"
-Keep backgrounds PG-13: That means nothing explicit and no rape. Seduction is okay, forcing yourself on someone is not.

NOTE:
Every character must choose a crime that
landed in them in Branderscar. They were not wrongly
imprisoned -- they are guilty of their charge.

There is a further requirement and it is something of
an intangible quality. At some point in this adventure
path every character is going to have the chance to join
an evil organization and swear allegiance to the master
of that organization and its patron – the lawful evil god
Asmodeus. The adventure path assumes you say yes to
this chance. Therefore, you should make a character who
can say yes.

Don't worry about equipment or gold, just focus on the characters.

If you could, to avoid some of the troubles I ran into earlier, set up your character sheet in your profile this way.

M Humanborn

will you allow Dhampir? they are Paizo, and they appear human.

gm:

also, my character's background has rape in it, but he was the child of it rather than the victim or the criminal. i can edit that out if that is still unacceptable. it wasnt a violent rape, his father was a vampire, so it was more seduction but in our current real world definition of rape, it was a rape. she wasnt too pleased afterwards when her child came out a dhampir.

Physical Description: Tall and slender and with well-defined musculature, dhampirs look like statuesque humans of unearthly beauty. Their hair, eye, and skin colors resemble unnerving versions of their mothers'; many possess a ghastly pallor, particularly in the sunlight, while those with dark complexions often possess skin the color of a bruise.

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

Regarding the Stats, I assume that the 4x1d10+7 must be used in the order rolled. So if you roll a 3,5,9,7 then that would be 10, 12, 16, 14 in that order and you could assert the 18/8 anywhere you want.

Kassen Battle Maps | RotRL Battle Maps

Yes and yes.

Tenro:
That is okay, just make sure that the difference is clear. I'd really rather not get in trouble.

Female Aasimar (archon-blooded) Inquisitor 01

Rolls:
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

I'll update the character later

Alrighty, Dhampir Undead Lord Cleric coming up!

gm:

I will make it clear, as well as make sure to reference it only in passing.

Rolls in order:

1d7 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
1d7 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
1d7 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
1d7 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

@ Tenro - it is 1d10+7, not 1d7+10

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (Infernal Bloodline)

Rolls: :

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

GM: :
So to clarify, given my rolls, assuming I picked charisma as my focus and strength as my foible, my stats would be str 8, dex 9, con 16, int 16, wis 13, cha 18? Or would I be able to rearrange the rolls? Just a little unclear on that. Also, I'll update the character later

The Exchange

Rolls:

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 STR
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 DEX
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 CON
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 WIS
Focus - CHA, Foible - INT

Do racial modifiers apply, btw?

DM Salsa:
I second Lucias question: do we have to use the rolls in order according to the sequence of stats? If that is the case my character won't work well as an assassin (too low on Str having to focus on Dex), but with those rolls I could do a decent antipaladin or a vicious ranger or barbarian and considering how the group doesn't actually have a tank it could be a good idea.

For the antipally stats would be something like these:

Str:18 / Dex:12 / Con:15 / Int:12 / Wis:08 / Cha: 17

For the ranger or barbarian they would be:

Str:18 / Dex:12 / Con:15 / Int:12 / Wis:17 / Cha:08

dang my disexylia! now i know who pokes around behind GM spoilers :D

GM for real this time:

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Racial modifiers apply.

I'll go ahead and change the stat rolls rules a little. You may place the stats however you'd like. The GM running the game I'm in allowed us to do that, so I don't see why I can't allow you to do it as well, other than looking wishy-washy.

gm:

ok so my character will have stats as follows:

focus and foible are marked, the racial modifiers are annotated but not included in the actual number right after the stat (so DEX and CON will both be 10 final, and CHA will be 16 final)

STR 16
DEX 08 foible; +2 racial
CON 12 -2 racial
INT 10
WIS 18 focus
CHA 14 +2 racial

The Exchange

Wow, I really blew away statistical probability on the sucky end.

ill probably switch my STR and CON then

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (Infernal Bloodline)

gm::
Alright... so then my character has....

STR: 8 (foible)
DEX: 13
CON: 16
INT: 16
WIS: 9
CHA: 18 + 2 racial (focus)

Working on the rest of the character using your format and will post it as soon as I'm done.

M Humanborn

will leadership be allowed as a feat later?

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (Infernal Bloodline)

Are we allowed to take racial favored class bonuses? (from APG)

Yes. It'll actually come in handy later, but you'll still be doing most of the grunt work.

Female Human Monk of the Four Winds/1

All, I have a completely finished Bard (Dawnflower Dervish/Animal Speaker) and a Summoner(Evolutionist). I could play either. What is everyone else playing. It makes no difference to me as I like both, so whatever will complement you all best. If everyone could list what class they are going to play, that would be helpful - I don't know whether anyone is planning on changing classes or not since the Focus/Foible stats make it easier to switch versus the more restrictive 20 point buy we had before.

Thanks,

Xrezth/Tirion
