Round 1
The wounded tiefling stands up and tells Tal what he can do with his surrender and drops darkness right in the middle of the table. Monday, seeing the darkness, unwraps the mirror, while Tuesday advances and tries to slam the wounded tiefling and although he comes close, misses. Another tiefling shouts Poor Scabby as he stands up and draws his mace. His companion chastises the 'sentry' as he too stands up drawing his mace.
I assume Mera would want to use her readied attack roll now since she couldn't use it in a surprise round.
Mera, seeing Tal in the way of the wounded tiefling and figuring the able warrior and the ghostly Tuesday will soon put him out of his misery, shoots the tiefling still seated C-8 and severely wounds him.
Need actions from Naberius & Tal

Naberius Belthrune |

Round 1
Naberius moves to stand in the doorway A2, and once again flicks his wand at one of the tieflings. As the magical projectile strikes its target, the wizard smiles at the hellspawns' misguided attempt to shroud themselves in shadow, a trick easily undone by their group's preparations. He makes a quick mental note to add the nightvision spell to his repertoire as soon as possible.
The guy in square A8, same as before.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
As he lowers the wand, he says to Monday in a low voice, "Do you mind sending the... uhm... your brother to obstruct the stairway back there? We would not want any of them to slink away...."

Vascо |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Vasco screams from his master's shoulder, "Caw! Fiendlings! Hell's rejects! Overgrown imps! Your mother was a goat!"
The raven goes on like this, fluttering his wings and continuing to spew expletives at the tieflings while they still stand.

Tal Bernard Mainz |

As it seems that Naberius and Tuesday have the closest Tiefling in hand Tal goes for the proverbial jugular as he moves on top of the table to threaten all of the tieflings simultaneously. Drawing his blade back he thrusts forward at the tiefling in C-9. Turning the blade after the thrust he slashes at the tiefling next to him.
Cleave power attack 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 - 1 = 26 for 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 = 9
Crit confirm 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 - 2 - 1 = 25 for 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
Cleave follow through attack 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 - 1 = 9 for 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 13

Monday Daud |

"Good catch." Monday happily says to the wizard while wearing a cattish grin, though there almost sounds to be the faintest hint of a growl in her words as well.
You heard the Infernalist.

Naberius Belthrune |

Naberius seems too distracted by the general din of combat―and entranced by Tal's skillful decapitation of one of the tieflings―to notice the phantom's angry stare.
Nice crit, Tal!

DM RichD |

Round 1 (Cont')
Naberius steps into the door way and finishes off the tiefling he had magic missiled before. Tal jumps on the table and separates the tiefling's head from his body, looks like that tiefling will be dealing with the sentry in the afterlife. Tal tries to follow up on his successful attack but misses. As the tiefling gets ready to stand, he gets hit by a bolt from Mera. Feeling like he's at death's door, he yells out that they should call for the mummies as he continues to stand drawing his mace. Raveen, not hearing any answer to his pleas but only the screams of agony, opens the door and rushes forth finishing off the one with Mera's crossbolt protruding from it.
Round 2

Raveen 7 (18/18)
Tactical Map updated. I will withhold the tiefling's action until after Monday & Tuesday as he might not have an action after. :)

Tuesday Daud |

Annoyance showing on his countenance he attempts to wail on the remaining tiefling.

Slam 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Naberius Belthrune |

Is there going to be any tactical movement to block the stairway, or is Tuesday too pissed at Naberius to do so? :P
Edit: There is a chance for a flank from Tal, as well.

Monday Daud |

Feeling the irritation in Tuesday Monday saunters over and nonchalantly swipes at the last tiefling.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
COnfirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
So 11 if confirmed.
Whoops, got caught up in the back and forth and had him make a full attack, sorry Nabe! And I can't access the map right now so I don't know about flanking conditions.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

Mera loads the next bolt, takes aim at the last tiefling and fires.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 4 = 14
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

DM RichD |

Round 1 Cont'
Tuesday tries to slam the remaining tiefling but was too distracted by Naberius and misses. Monday, however walks over and slices the tiefling with a deep gash across the chest. The tiefling falls backwards dead before he hits the floor.
Out of round mode

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Completing the grisly task that his perfect stroke started Tal goes about fulfilling the wish of making a statement without giving name to the deed by decapitating the rest of the tieflings before. Once that is completed he will place the heads at the entrance and wait for the rest to indicate they are ready to proceed downward.
I figure Tal can do this while others search if they want to.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

Mera's breathing slows down as the combat comes to a close. She shivers as the adrenalin continues to course through her body and adds, "Well, that went strikingly well. What was that bit about mummies?"

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Trying to add a bit of humor to the grisly task Tal quips back to meet, I think you misheard them. They were so scared they asked for their mommies. Although I don't know if any mother would claim them after the deeds that they have done.

Monday Daud |

"Well this is a chapel, there could have been mummies interred within in order to guard against people looting or destroying the place." Monday muses absentmindedly as she wipes her blade on the nearest tiefling before searching the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Naberius steps in, gently closing the door behind him.
He says in a hushed tone, "Be wary. The others must have heard that, as efficient as we were...

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Naberius clears his throat, and says, "Nonsense. Erastilians would not employ undead willingly." The wizard looks at Monday a bit oddly, prehaps not expecting her to be capable of such violence.
"But it may be that since the temple is in such a state as it is, undead could have risen spontaneusly, assuming they have a crypt of some kind. Perhaps the Bastard's even have a necromancer amongst them. Still, I sincerely doubt there are mummies, for those are a higher class of undead than what they should be capable of controlling. If they are capable of such a thing, we might be severely disadvantaged..."
Seeming as uncomfortable as usual discussing the living dead, he concludes, "It is likely a ruse, or ignorance on their part."
Does the stairway lead up or down, Mr. GM?

Vascо |

Vasco flies over to the tieflings, and looks for shinies.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
He looks for anything that might be worth something, with preference for shiny metal objects, such as jewelry or keys.
...and no Raveen, he does not start pecking at their eyes! :P

"It is likely a ruse, or ignorance on their part."
"Likely ignorance backed by a well-prepared ambush by now," he answered, observing Vasco picking the Tieflings' bodies. "If we don't do something about it, they'll just get more prepared. On me."
The man headed to the entry at -A-11 quickly, examining the door for traps or locks.

The masked man reached to Tal's shoulder with his palm quickly, cleaning his blade from hot Tiefling blood.
"Your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated, but kindly allow me to take care of leaving our mark," he said, gray eyes meeting blue. "We're on a short timetable. I will leave something more distinguishing, less grim, whilst preserving our secret lives after we eliminate them."The man seems intent on pressing their advantage and storming the lower levels quickly, not stopping for chatting or beheading.
Hopefully, I would be right, and they will not be anticipating our new entry point."
...and no Raveen, he does not start pecking at their eyes! :P
Now that's just unnecessarily wasteful. They're still hot, see.

Waving Vasco back over to his shoulder, Naberius nods and says, "Quite right. Let us keep advancing while we still have the element of surprise. We can think of a proper way of signaling our success once we are victorious, if that is still in contention..."
As he moves after Raveen towards the starway, the wizard half-jokingly asks, "Did you happen to see any mummies wandering about when you scouted the area earlier?"
"I heard something being shifted around in one of the houses this morning, so there is a chance they might have stolen coffins filled with mummies from the docks and stowed them here. Likely of Osirion origin, I suspect..."
Naberius shakes his head in amusement.
"You have been reading too many cheap horror stories..." he mutters, but still seems uneasy.

The man smirked. He looked up from his work and inclined his head meaningfully at the phantom, before musing through there Message link, "We have a walking horror with us right now. You best begin taking horror stories seriously, master wizard."
You're in one!

Naberius Belthrune |

The man smirked. He looked up from his work and inclined his head meaningfully at the phantom, before musing through there Message link, "We have a walking horror with us right now. You best begin taking horror stories seriously, master wizard."
Glancing at Tuesday, Naberius shifts nervously and whispers back, "Oh, I do not doubt the existance of such terrors... Merely their presence here. These miscreants would not know a true mummy from linen-wrapped zombie."

DM RichD |

Just for clarification, there are only two doors in this room. There is the front door that most of you came through (A-2) and the is the door to the Bell Tower which Raveen came through (C-4). The 'blue lines' are the grimy windows and there is a set of stairs leading down (-A-11).
From the bodies you find:
4 studded leather armors,
4 light maces,
80 bolts,
4 daggers,
4 simple thieves’ tools (–2 penalty on checks)
80 GP

Masked Conspirator |

@Naberius: They might actually be linen-wrapped zombies. Got Burning Hands prepared?
@GM: Battlefield-dibs on the daggers. I bet they're curved. The rest we can roll into the sheet if no one claims them.
If the stairs have no door leading to them, the check is for traps instead. Did we find anything?

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Finishingwith the grisly task while Raveen and Naberius talk Tal collects the items from the bodies and stows them for selling later. Following Raveen to the way down he waits for the all clear signal before descending into the lair of the Bastards. Ready when you are.

DM RichD |

Stripping the bodies of valuables while Tal cuts of their heads, you find nothing of value in the room. Raveen checks out the stairs for traps and finding none descends.
At the bottom of the stairs, the hallway turns left and ends in a simple wooden door. A short message has been artfully carved on the door, but someone seems to have marred the message with slashes from a sharp instrument.

Masked Conspirator |

The masked man silently takes note of the warrior's disregard.
Strike one, he thought, before heading down the stairs.
At the simple wooden door, he stopped.
Disable Device, ho hum: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Finding traps, etc.
He gives a silent report, and waits for Tal to move into the room.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

After Tal finishes with his task, Mera looks visibly paler.
It's a good thing I didn't eat before we came, I think I would lose my lunch.
She whispers to Naberius, motioning towards Tal's deed. [b]"I understand the need for dispatching tieflings, but... is that really necessary? It seems overly barbaric to me."/b][/smaller]

Naberius Belthrune |

Hearing Mera's whisper, Naberius momentarily glances at the abbatoir. He does not seem as shocked by the amount of blood as the singer, but wrinkles his nose in distate regardless.
Not bothering to lower his voice too much, he answers, "Και εγώ θα προτιμούσα λόγια για τα ξίφη, αλλά, δυστυχώς, οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι καταλαβαίνουν τη γλώσσα του ξίφους με μεγαλύτερη ισχύ από τη γλώσσα της λέξης. Είστε αυτός που κρατά το λουρί του. Αν αυτό που κάνει σας δυσαρεστεί, διεκδικήσει την κυριαρχία σας. Όπως ένας αληθινός πολίτης θα πρέπει να..."
A short message has been artfully carved on the door, but someone seems to have marred the message with slashes from a sharp instrument.
Do we have any idea what it might have said? 'Watch out for the mummies?' :P

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Getting the sign from Raveen Tal moves to the door at the bottom of the stairs and opens it stepping into the room. Here is hoping to there are not real mummies in here.

DM RichD |

@Naberius: Although the sign is badly scratched, you can make out the inscription:
“Praise and thanks to those who spent their lives in service to Erastil—their work strengthens us all.”
When Tal is given the signal, he opens the door which it does with a loud CREAK. Six brick-lined crypts take up most of the wall space in this room, yet strangely, a number of large cushions are strewn about the floor. Three tieflings and a creature wrapped in linens with a shambling, jerky gait.
Since you all were expecting trouble and they were expecting intruders or tieflings to be punished for leaving their posts, there is no surprise round.

Damage w/dagger + sneak attack: 1d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (1) = 6
He then shifted aside (within his 5-ft. square) to leave Tal an area to charge.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

Is the shambling creature identifiable with knowledge?
Mera begins to sing softly after first but slowly increasing volume every second. After a few seconds the melody echoes throughout the small corridor.
Inspire courage +1/+1.

Round 1
Wand at the ready, Naberius observes the situation, waiting for Tal to charge in or the tieflings to advance.
As Mera starts singing, he hums along faintly.
Delay after Tal. Naberius hasn't seen the 'mummy' yet, so I'll wait until he sees it to roll whatever Knowledge skill would be applicable.

Penind the movement of Thug 2...
Tal tries to get into a position where he can maximize his attacks more effectively. Barring that he strikes for power at the tiefling nearest him.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

Holy crap I think I need a cheat sheet to read Tal's attack and damage rolls.

DM RichD |

Raveen throws a dagger and it lands squarely in the Tiefling's chest and he falls back dead. Mera starts singing as Tal moves into position so he can threaten the two remaining Tieflings. In a magnificent display of swordsmanship the two Tieflings are not long for this world. Ostengo points to Tal and says in common, GO HOME!

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Will save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Thoughts of Lily invade Tal's thoughts as he looks at the mummy. Is she safe? Does anyone know that he is here and she is alone? I wonder what she had for supper? Tal almost gives in to such thoughts before he remembers why he is here. No, I will not. I am here to avenge the Hammersmiths.
Yeah the modifiers get a bit long. I have to split them out myself to make sure I am not forgetting anything. Str, bab, MW, focus, inspire, tower shield, power attack

He does not. He readies an action, as described above. If Raveen and Tal can deal with this guy before his turn, there's no need to waste charges from the wand. It's like tossing money at this guy to kill him! :P

Mera Wist-Thrune |
