Whoa, man! That's some scary stuff! Really glad the ticker's ticking like it oughta be, hope they can get the breathing figured out for you. Take care of yourself!
Randall Quickstep |
OK, I just got word that we have an elderly member of the family on the fast track to the regional hospital here in town - as the closest family, we will be there so they have a friendly face around. I don't know what will come of it yet, but my hoped-for Friday availability will probably take a hit.
Peace, y'all.
DM Oladon |
Hope all's okay, Randall. :(
Just so you guys know, I'm probably going to be out a good bit of tomorrow... I /should/ be getting back in the afternoon, but not sure on that at this point.
Randall Quickstep |
Thanks. She is in good hands, but well out of her element. I ended up not having opportunity until well after midnight. We are headed back up now.
Asht'el |
All - I will be on a work trip for the next two weeks (March 2-17). I will have internet access, and some time to check games, but may slow down a bit. Feel free to bot me if I'm holding up combat or otherwise impeding the flow of a game.
Asht'el |
DM Oladon |
Sorry guys, been busy today and don't currently have access to my laptop, so post will probably be up tomorrow morning.
Jametor Darksbane |
Probably not going to be able to post much during the day for the next few weeks. I am training a replacement for one of my big projects.
Jametor Darksbane |
Okay I have a question, which is why I didn't cast them in this past round. Ice Spears. I can't find anything that says the ice spears have to connect, but they specifically say they need to come up anywhere.
J is 8th level so he gets two spears. I'd like to think I can point at that square and another square and cast them, but I really think they are adjacent squares. I suspect Njord would be upset with me if I shot one up underneath him. To be honest, with the grapple, not sure spacing them would have worked.
I read through the rules section on them and the advice forum and nothing seems to clarify.
Randall Quickstep |
The elderly family member I mentioned earlier has been transferred to a less intensive care facility, if I said that right, and is doing amazingly well for 86 and a broken femur. And I promptly got sick myself and slept most of last week. Ugh.
Oladon, did you say you are planning a wedding? Yours, I assume? Congratulations!
DM Oladon |
Jametor: they don't need to be in adjacent squares, provided they're all within range of the spell.
Randall: good to hear on your relative - though ouch, broken femur is not fun. An elderly relative of mine recently broke her hip and had to have surgery... not fun. :(
Aye, it's my wedding. Thanks. :)
Fíriel Goldworthy |
You know, so that you can blacklist that Oladon person.
Jametor Darksbane |
I've been using Chrome at home, because it does a pretty good job of keeping all my stuff ready for my tablet too. Firefox for mobile wasn't very good, but I've heard it got better AND there's been some reports that Chrome on tablets is causing them to freeze and need a reboot, which has happened to me...
I am wondering now if it wouldn't be better to move back to Firefox. I use that at work for most of my work.
Do you know if the scripts work on mobile browsers?
DM Oladon |
While I work on this next post for gameplay, you guys should figure out what my half-orc warpriest should spend his monies on. PFS, level 4, has 8.5k gold and 16 prestige points. And pretty much no existing equipment other than MW weapons. :P
Asht'el |
I've just made my first half-orc character in 30+ years of gaming - a straight-up fighter. Still deciding if he's awesome, but I know he'll fit in poorly with his skilled, stealthy party-mates, which is really all I wanted.
DM Oladon |
Heh, yeah, that's fun. Though I really, really hate ACP, so I'm having a hard time trying to convince myself to get Mr. Horc some heavy armor.
Jametor Darksbane |
My level 1 guy has medium armor on and the 20 ft move speed is meh. But he's basically there to cut things in half with his greatsword. Something refreshing about being the guy who drops big hits in melee. He's also pretty skilled, well on wisdom based skills. Oh and he's got some nice diplo, bluff, intimidate skills because his strength bonus adds to his charisma bonus. So he's the less stick up the butt party face with the paladin...
Antal Hyrgan |
Yet another update. GI specialist appointment tomorrow at noon EST. Here's hoping for a diagnosis. And dang do I miss being on here with you lot.
Njord Bjornson |
Hopefully you get a solid diagnosis and can start on meds/treatment soon.
Asht'el |
...I really, really hate ACP...
This, a thousand times this. I'm still having second thoughts, and he's not playing 'til PbP Gameday, so I've got some time.
What should I make instead? Fun character ideas? I like having a variety of tools at my disposal (so some interesting class abilities or spells are nice), but I don't like to have my batteries run out completely (so full casters - like Asht'el - make me nervous). And I've already played every kind of ranger invented.
DM Oladon |
I'd been planning to save up and get this guy some mithral heavy armor, but I can't afford it for at least another scenario, and we're getting into the levels where I think he should have better than a 17 AC.
Randall Quickstep |
So is he doing a chain shirt at this point? If I'm making a front-liner, much as I hate ACP, I will probably just bite the bullet and go with it. However, even if I do, I have been known to purchase a masterwork chain shirt to sleep in when in hostile territory.
If the ACP is a big enough concern, masterwork chain shirt is not a bad choice especially if you can magic it up as you go.
All of this stated without looking at the actual mechanics, so I'm making no claims about the validity of the choice from that angle.
Hang in there, Antal!
Njord Bjornson |
People actually watch baseball?
Njord Bjornson |
You are a wise hobbit indeed.
Njord Bjornson |
Watching baseball in a stadium is actually fun but I've come to believe that the fun is entirely due to the hotdogs and beer.
Jametor Darksbane |
I don't drink, but dogs taste better at the ballpark. This is so.
The Royals have Friday night Buck nights, where dogs, peanuts and small drinks are only a dollar. I eat well that day, I tell you that. I don't mess with the small drinks, two drinks and done. I get the large drink and eat my fill of dollar dogs.

Ooh, keeping a MW chain shirt around to sleep in is a good idea.

I'm wearing one now...

If I might be so bold, I'd point out that our kindly DM has italicized some key words in relation to our drow opponent, to wit, as if he's able to defend on all sides at once. So he might be able to see in all directions, rendering him unflankable. Just sayin'.
Asht'el |
You've confused me, DMO - I had to go check and see if I had posted as the wrong character in Mohok's game.
And I'm sorely disappointed that no one noticed I said I was being bold in pointing out the italics.
Randall Quickstep |

I was taking it to mean that he was a rogue of sufficiently high level that he could not be flanked, but the potion he imbibed might have contributed to that. That would also explain the crazy escape artist rolls - but not the greatsword.
But that's why I gave up on killing him and just hoped to be enough of a pest to give Njord a flank.
Randall Quickstep |
Randall collects the crossbow and bolts from the body as well as the ring. He doesn't want to leave the sword or the armor, but he doesn't think he can carry the former and does not have time to remove the latter.
Njord, would you want the AC-enhancement? You are definitely the front line...
