Bullseye Brynn |
Is the map accurate? Nighttail only moved five feet forward? lol. Can Brynn delay her turn to be behind Nighttail in initiative since she's only moving after he moves? She doesn't trust him at her back. I'll take my turn actions after Nighttail.
"Hurry," she urges Nighttail. "The battles begun. Get in there."
Vors Orcblood |
As the battle is joined, Vors springs into action.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 I think that's a success.
Sadly the littlest barbarian is now in the rogue/cleric's way, so he deftly skids down the rubble path to the other side, only to find another kobold (K1). Luckly, Vors had his rapier at the ready. He lunges to strike but misses.
Rapier: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
DM Nex |
Yeah Nighttail was staling a bit, but will jump in now.
Grilnik cracks down on the middle Turtle, cracking its shell down to its innards. WIth a deep crack it collapses into the water.
Both Kobolds see Vors and Bethany coming down the hill, and they swing their readied attacks.
K1 Trip Bethany: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
K2 Trip Vors: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Both Kobolds fail to trip with their blades, and drop their weapons as to avoid falling themselves.
Night yells "Ah well might as well join this party.." He runs forward down the hall and tries to stab one of the Turtles in the water. But his spear bounces off its shell.
Nightail Spear T3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Brynn can act now, I will retcon anything you do that mess with happens below
Having dropped their blades the two Kobolds "The soft skins are besting us! Run!" Both taking Withdrawl action to run away
Both Turtles try to snap at Hak, the dragon mount.
T2 Bite Hak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Miss
T3 Bite Hak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Hit
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Round 1
K1, K2, T2, T3
Grilnik, Bethany, Brynn, Vors, Nighttail <-Here you can Act. Brynn can do held action then another for round 2.
Bethany Carpenter |
Grinning from ear to ear despite missing her last swing Bethany takes a step and attempts to flatten the red turtle.
Big Brother: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 1) + 5 = 11
Bullseye Brynn |
Brynn follows Nighttail into the room and fires a shot at the (whichever kobold would have been in her sight before they fled) kobold, that sizzles with acid as it flies.
Delivering Acid Splash with an Arrow: Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16
Acid Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Piercing Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
---
Round 2
Seeing the kobold flee, Brynn curses loudly. She begins to move around the pool, hoping to follow them, but can't quite keep up. Instead she fires an arrow at the snapping turtle.
Ranged Attack vs. T2: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23
Piercing Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Grilnik Urist |
Ugh, who knows what kind of trap they'll set up if they get away.
Grilnik chases after the fleeing kobolds. "Can't let them set up an ambush!" he shouts.
As he closes the distance, he shouts at the kobolds "Last chance to surrender!"
Double move to get within reach of K2, provoke from K1 and T2
I hope 18AC is enough xD
In case K2 or K1 tries to run farther down the tunnel xD
Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 - 2 = 4 ew, I doubt that'd hit even if they became flat footed from using the run action
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 = 11
DM Nex |
Slight retcon
As Brynn shoots the kobold before it can run off, one of them drops to the ground as it runs to escape.
Bethany cracks the shell of the Turtle in front of her, at the same time another arrow flies from Brynn that jams into the shell of the other, both collapse into the water.
NIghttail walks forward, looking down the hall where Grilnik ran. "Hopefully the dwarf catches him..
Botting Vors Vors runs forward down the hall, behind Girlnik. Taking up a stance to pounce if the kobold runs.
The kobold, not really looking behind continues to run. Not aware people are following so closly. Grilnik and Vors get a free attack on him.
Vors Rapier K2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
But the Kobold is a bit too slippery, and slips by the two pursuers.
Round 2
K2
Grilnik, Bethany, Brynn, Vors, Nighttail < - Players up!
Grilnik Urist |
Lol, suddenly I miss Longstrider xD
Your funeral...
Grilnik continues his pursuit through the dark tunnels.
LET'S GO ! ROUND TWO!
Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 2 = 7 this is punishment for all those 15s I rolled earlier, isn't it? xD
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 = 6
Bullseye Brynn |
Brynn leans over and whispers in Bethany's ear. "Follow our friends. I'll keep an eye on Nighttail."
With her bow in hand, Brynn urges Nighttail forward. "You look fast. Let's hurry and help."
Brynn's going to take her turn after Nighttail gets moving. She's trying to urge him to follow Vors.
Vors Orcblood |
Vors shouts after the dwarf.
"Dammit, Grilnik! Be careful! Traps!"
The half-orc attempts to keep pace.
Bullseye Brynn |
Seeing Nighttail isn't moving, Brynn urges, "Come on Nighttail, hurry. Before we lose them."
Bethany Carpenter |
"I do not want to get lost down here."
Bethany follows along as quickly as she can.
Double move. Took some poking around to find where everyone went on the map. :)
Bullseye Brynn |
Brynn smiles 'sweetly' at the kobold as it hurries by, then follows him down the tunnel.
Double move!
DM Nex |
The last kobold looks back and sees everyone chasing him.. And withdrawls away from the group again, running into the upcoming cavern.
When you enter the room
The ceiling of this chamber rises to a lofty twelve feet. The cave floor drops away into a pair of long, ten-foot-deep pits. Between them, a ridge of stone forms a dubious walkway to a landing on the opposite side, where a five-foot-wide shaft with a knotted rope hanging down into it awaits. On the eastern side of the cave there is a curtain of rock with slits, behind which you can see many kobolds readying their attacks.
Round 3
K2 (and a bunch of Kobolds in the other room)
Grilnik, Bethany, Brynn, Vors, Nighttail
You can see a bunch more Kobolds on the map. They are behind some cover in that room
Bullseye Brynn |
Double move! And, yes, she's still going to be trying to stay behind Nighttail, even though I'm ahead of him on the map.
Bethany Carpenter |
Single move to get into place where I can attack next turn. Happy to run in first once everyone is ready.
Grilnik Urist |
It sounds like the row of kobolds on the right are behind some sort of cover that I can't see on the map, or are you referring to the wall that Grilnik is now next to? xD
Grilnik follows the kobold until it enters an area with trenches. He notices an ambush waiting for him and steps back behind the wall at the entrance to the room. He looks behind to see if his allies are catching up before readying his hammer against any counter attacks.
Move action: move to entrance
Standard action: ready to attack any enemies that enter Grilnik's reach
Attack (readied): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 2 = 19
Damage (readied): 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10
Attack (AoO): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 2 = 19
Damage (AoO): 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 3 = 11
DM Nex |
The map is difficult to read. Basically there is a thin path down the center of the map with drops on either side. On the right there is a "curtain" of rock with holes in it. The kobolds are behind the rock. So they all have cover from anyone on the pathway. You would need to get up and around to really be able to hit them. Though reach weapons might work (with their cover bonus)
Nightail moves foward "This is a deathrun... They will shoot out from cover at anyone going through the path. Might want to make this quick. Whoever goes first is going to get pelted pretty.. I am NOT going first.."
Grilnik you are unable to attack any Kobolds. I have drawn on the map to show the pits and the curtain wall on the side. Hopefully my doodles are not too messy haha
It looks like Vors is in position so moving forward
As you enter the room you see the long path. A kobold at the end of the path.
Round 4
K2 (and a bunch of Kobolds in the other room)
Grilnik, Bethany, Brynn, Vors, Nighttail <- What are you going to do?
Someone is likely going to need to run in and attack from the other side and maybe through the slots. Bit of a "Gauntlet"
Bethany Carpenter |
GMing question: Would you allow a charge up the hallway. I know it is suppose to be a straight line but there is 25ft straight before the Kobold.
I have always thought it silly that a simple turn would stop me from running into someone with a giant hammer. Naturally I would take a lot of AOO's
Vors Orcblood |
Nightail moves foward "This is a deathrun... They will shoot out from cover at anyone going through the path. Might want to make this quick. Whoever goes first is going to get pelted pretty.. I am NOT going first.."
The half-orc groans, "Gods. F#<king. Dammit!"
Vors sheaths his rapier, and rubs his hands together."Okay, Gentlemen and mostly ladies. Here's the deal: If I survive, you all owe me a beer. If I die, pour those same beers over my corpse before you bury me."
Whispering into his holy symbol, Vors adds, "Hope you enjoy the show."
The rogue-turned-cleric dashes forward through the gauntlet, tumbling and flipping as he goes, ultimately flipping over the kobolds at the end.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Bethany Carpenter |
Seeing Vors rush by Bethany mutters a curse / prayer and charges after him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
"This is going to suck... this is going to suck... this is going to suck."
Grilnik Urist |
"Eh? Wait-"
I'll move after they've got damage from readied actions and AoOs that needs my last use of channeling xD
Bullseye Brynn |
Yeah, I'll also wait to see how their action go, just in case I need to haul someone out of the way or something.
DM Nex |
Because of the path being somewhat narrow I am going to say no charging. Just going to stick to the rules a bit. Don't be afraid to ask though. I can loosen up for certain things. Plus it looks like Vors went first
As Vors runs through the gauntlet as best he can, slings bullets fly out readied to hit the first to enter.
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
4 hit
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Vors gets pelted with bullets as he runs though, taking a total of 7 damage from them.
Nighttail shifts foward a bit and yells "Make some room and I will come in!
Round 4
K2,
Grilnik, Bethany, Brynn, Vors, Nighttail <- Vors and Bethany can attack if they wish. The others have their turn as well.
Its a bit tight in here, but Bethany you can try moving through their squares and taking an AoO if you wish. To get on the other side. Since Vors ran in I will let this play out a bit out of order. Vors can attack and depending on the outcome you can adjust your move.
Bethany Carpenter |
Give me the AOO. No sense standing out here.
Grilnik Urist |
Before ya'll hit back, Grilnik will want to heal all the living creatures xD
Grilnik steps on to the walkway presenting his holy symbol. Healing light pours out.
Channel Energy (Heal living): 1d6 ⇒ 4
Vors Orcblood |
Sorry everyone. I did not realize everyone was waiting on me. My apologies.
Between a rock and a hard place (literally), Vors decides to get into better position, so he flips over two of the kobolds to stand next to Bethany.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 I think I failed, therefore I lose my move action and are subject to AoO. If possible, Vors will use his standard action to attack the nearest kobold.
Rapier: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirming: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Standard hit.
Dmg.: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Bullseye Brynn |
Hmmm.... Since that kobolds probably still alive...
Brynn hurries down the hall and stops behind Grilnik. Seeing the difficult battle conditions, she frowns. Deciding she'll have a better shot at striking the nasty kobold with a simple cantrip, she gestures with her hands and fires a small ball of acid at the kobold near Bethany and Vors Casting acid splash at K2.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
Acid Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
DM Nex |
Ok everyone.. I am going to just speed some things along. This fight was really getting to me. So I am going to call this fight in your favor and jump from here
After a complicated fight. None of the kobols have anything of interest. They where pelting you with stones from their hidden cave area. But you take them all down, those tiny weak scaled creatures.
In this room is another dark cave leading down. Seems to dig down into a empty cave down below.
For the sake of it I am moving all of you down to the new cave.
There seems to be 2 tunnels leading out of here. Both going to the same large tunnel.
Vors Orcblood |
Panting heavily, Vors checked himself for more injuries.
"Oh, Cayden! That was fierce", huffed the half-orc, "And potentially amazing stupid!" The cleric looks to the sky and breathes "Thanks, boss."
Vors carefully guides everyone down to the new cave.
Bethany Carpenter |
Using big brother as a bit of a cane Bethany cannot help but smile.
"Potentially stupid? That sounds about right, seems it keeps working for me though."
Once she catches her breath she is happy to continue her big adventure.
Vors Orcblood |
Vors grins down at the petite human.
"Bethany. You're alright. Don't let anyone tell you different", the half-orc said with a chuckle.
Grilnik Urist |
"I guess if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid. I still wish you had let me explain my plan to lead in with some flaming flasks of lamp oil."
Grilnik says as he dusts off his beard with a few pats.
Grilnik Urist |
"Like I said, if it works, it ain't stupid. No need for that."
"Now should we go left or right? Or, assuming the tunnels converge soon, both?"
Grilnik looks warily at the two tunnels, wondering if either is trapped.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 +2 more if this dirt counts as 'stonework'
Bullseye Brynn |
Brynn smiles. "Well done, everyone."
She nocks another arrow onto her bow, and then nods. "I'm ready. Lead the way."
Vors Orcblood |
Brynn smiles. "Well done, everyone."
The half-orc does little to hide his eye roll at Brynn's parlance, as he scouts a head 30 ft., checking for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20DM Nex |
The two tunnels seems to be short and extend straight into a larger tunnel ahead.
As Vors walks down the tunnel and takes a look into the next larger area, he can see what looks like a larger room. The ceiling at the center of this cave is twelve feet high. A crude idol stands in the middle of the cave, decorated with grisly strips of dried viscera.
This is a image of the Infernal Duke Vapula. A minor diety who rules over part of the city of Dis
Standing just behind the statue is a Red Kobold with staff and two skeletons.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 16
As Vors gets a look, one of the skeleton's twitches its head upward looking toward the sound that was made.
Bethany: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Brynn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Grilnik: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Vors: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Kobold: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Skeletons: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Surprise round
Vors <- Your turn
S2
Round 1
Vors, Brynn
Skeletons, Kobold
Grilnik, Bethany
Vors Orcblood |
Vors quickly whispers back, "Two skeletons, one kobold".
The roguish cleric draws his sap and leaps forward to strike the aware skeleton.
Sap: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Dmg.: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Bullseye Brynn |
Brynn moves down the tunnel and fires an arrow at the figure she's caught sight of. Its a skeleton.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21
Piercing Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Apparently this is the only archer I have that didn't buy blunt arrows. Haha. A flaw she'll soon learn she needs to remedy...
Also: How long has it been since that last battle started? Over two minutes?
DM Nex |
Brynn's shot flies straight at the Skeleton, but the arrow flies right through the gaps. If only if it had flesh!
Yeah the battle lasted awhile, you looked at the kobolds and headed down the tunnel. So more than 2 minutes
Round 1
Vors, Brynn <-- Vors can get another round. Since this is round 1. Unless your, slightly larger, surprise round was a combo of the two?
Skeletons, Kobold
Grilnik, Bethany
Vors Orcblood |
As an arrowpass to his left, Vors notices the other skeleton. Taking a 5-ft. step left, the roguish-cleric takes sap to task again.
Sap: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirming: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Meets AC, so confirmed!
Dmg.: 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (1) + 1 = 5
DM Nex |
Vors rushes forward and crushes the second skeleton with ease. Shattering into bone dust, unable to reform.
The kobold, which you can now see has a red cloak and staff, backs up against the wall and quickly pulls out a small rod of metal. It speaks something over the rod and then looks straight at Vors.
Hold Person. Held in place for 3 rounds
Round 1
Vors, Brynn
Skeletons, Kobold
Grilnik, Bethany <- Here
Grilnik Urist |
Grilnik rushes down the right tunnel, hoping he made the correct choice.
He makes it just past the crude idol and Vors as the kobold casts a spell.
"Good job, Vors. And with such a tiny hammer, too!"
Bethany Carpenter |
Putting her head down Bethany double times it though the dark corridor. She pulls up quick as she comes face to face with one of the kobolds.
Double move. Hate that if you turn at all you can't charge.
Vors Orcblood |
Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The half-orc blinks at the cloaked kobold, wondering what was suppose to happen. Nevertheless, as the reptilian retreat, Vors followed, helping Bethany pin him in a corner, but the strike was ineffective.
Sap: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Bullseye Brynn |
Brynn moves further into the cavern and fires an arrow at the kobold.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18
Piercing Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
