Today will be the last post I make for a few days, as I'm spending the holidays with my family. I will resume regular posting on the 27th.
All the best, and happy holidays!
C U ^^
Merry Christmas everyone! ^^
Also, the rest of the week I may or may not be able to post due to Christmas and a short trip I'll be joining, but I'll try to post tomorrow and I'll see if I can't post from the hotel ^^
Welcome back! I'm also back! xD
Happy new years everyone xD
Sick. Not sure if I'll be online over the next day or two. You can bot me if needed.
get well soon T_T
Hey all! Looks like I took over a Iron Gods Game. Lost some characters.
Wanted to throw out an invite to submit a character to join up with us. You all know my GM style and I trust all of you with RP and good character usage.
Here is the recruitment thread: https://paizo.com/threads/rzs42fm9?Looking-for-2-replacement-Players-for-Ir on#1
Let me know if you have any questions.
sounds like fun, I'll check it out xD
So I am trying to figure out Eldritch Archer a bit.. I see the Ranged Spell Combat. That allows a casting of a spell (with a -2) to any ranged damage. Then another attack also at -2. Like two weapon fighting. I see you are doing it like its going with the arrow.
As I am reading it.. Spell Combat would let you:
5 foot step
Cast Snowball - Deliver like a normal snowball with its own touch attack (no bonus from weapon) with a -2
Then shoot all normal weapon shots with a -2.
If you include Ranged Spellstrike in there too:
5 foot step
Cast snowball and deliver it though the arrow.
No second shot, unless you have a high enough bab/Rapid shot/Haste.
I could be wrong, but your move of shooting a snowball arrow then another arrow does not work.
So I guess my question is.. Am I wrong.. Or do you want your last attack to be a:
1. Touch attack snowball with a -2 (touch AC) then an arrow to follow with a -2 as well (Normal AC).
2. A single shot with snowball and arrow against AC. (basically just remove your second shot all together)
3. I am wrong and I just don't know how Eldritch Archer works.
You are wrong. Haha.
Ranged Spell Combat (Ex): A magus learns to cast spells and wield her weapons at the same time. This functions much like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell that is being cast. To use this ability, she must be wielding a ranged weapon. She doesn’t need a free hand for spell combat. As a full-round action, she can make all of her attacks with ranged weapon at a –2 penalty and can also cast any spell from the magus spell list with a casting time of 1 standard action (any attack roll made as part of this spell also takes this penalty). A magus can choose to cast the spell first or make the weapon attacks first, but if she has more than one attack, she cannot cast the spell between weapon attacks.
This first ability lets me fire an arrow and cast a spell as a full round action.
Ranged Spellstrike (Su): Whenever an eldritch archer casts a spell that calls for a ranged attack, she can deliver the spell through a ranged weapon she wields as part of a ranged attack. Instead of the free ranged attack normally allowed to deliver the spell, an eldritch archer can make one free ranged attack with a ranged weapon (at her highest base attack bonus) as part of casting this spell. The attack does not increase the spell’s range. If the spell can normally affect multiple targets, only a single missile, ray, or effect accompanies each attack; if the spell allows multiple attacks and the eldritch archer can make additional ranged attacks as part of a full-round action with spell combat, one additional ray, missile, or effect from the spell accompanies each subsequent ranged attack the eldritch archer makes in the same round until all attacks allowed by the spell are made. Unused missiles, rays, or effects remaining at the end of the eldritch archer’s turn are wasted. This ability alters spellstrike.
This second ability means that whenever I cast a spell that needs a ranged attack roll I can make a free attack with my bow to deliver the spell instead of whatever the spell normally calls for. Doing this does not take an action. It's free.
So yes. I five foot step as a free action, use ranged spell combat to cast snowball and then fire an arrow (all as a full round action), and then use ranged spell strike to deliver snowball with a fired arrow instead of with its touch attack (as a free action).
On that note, I realized that I forget to add my -2 penalty to my attack rolls this round. Sorry! I'll add that to the gameplay thread now.
Hmm... My brain keeps going back and forth on this! I love the class, but I keep getting confused :)
Forgive me for my confusion. I am playing a bladed magus in another game and I keep forgetting how it works. I love the class, but boy... it has some mechanics that my brain has issues with!
(I asked initially because the snowball would have hit touch, but didn't hit through armor).. Then I got thinking again. I should stop that!
<3 touch attacks

No worries. Personally, I'm always forgetting which panache/grit abilities of gunslingers/swashbucklers my characters have. It's my bane. Haha.
And yeah, that's the trade-off for using ranged spellstrike. I get some extra damage but a lower chance to hit. But Brynn's full of herself. She ALWAYS thinks she can hit with that arrow. Touch attack?! What's that?? Haha.
Not sure if any of you are interested in Kickstarters, but my brother's gaming company just launched a Kickstarter today for a fun new gaming book that's Pathfinder 1st edition compatible! He's been published in some Pathfinder books before and written some PFS modules, so you might already be familiar with some of his work. I had the chance to do a lot of freelance work for the new book, which is really exciting. It's gonna be great! If any of you are interested you can head on over to the Kickstarter and help make this project a success! And even if not, help spread the word. Thanks!
And for those of you who are in more than one campaign with me: You'll see this message plenty! Apologies for spamming you. Haha.
Sorry again, Brynn. Grilnik will once again prioritize finishing off the last 1~3 enemies over healing Brynn immediately xD
and the 5th level of hps:
HP before con: 1d8 ⇒ 7
We need our favorite berserkerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry. House is being listed today, the last week has SUCKED. I am never moving again after this.
HP: 1d12 ⇒ 12
Gained: Low Light Vision
Increased Intimidate and Diplomacy
How old? Me just tried with my 2.5 year old daughter but she could care less. Not sure how to make her do it. Honestly I would have thought she would rather use a toilet but I guess not.
We want to move. Bigger house, we bought a small house for the two of us and now that our daughter is bigger its just not enough.
She is actually really young for doing it. Only about 1.5 years. Apparently its possible and she is showing all the signs (being dry in the morning. Asking to use potty. Wanting privacy for pooping, etc). The book we read on it says there is an age later (around 2.5 - 3) where it suddenly gets a lot harder becuase they now have their own agency. Little more stubborn in their toddler old age. The book swears if we do this it will be like 1-2 weeks. Really we had a really good first day. Very few mistakes, most of which she realized really fast. The book says you want to move through the different stages: Clueless, I peed, I am peeing, I need to pee. Once you get through those you just work on how much time before knowing its going to happen.. and happening.
Sorry about the potty training tangent.. sorta the life I live right now
I TOTALLY understand. We moved into our house while my wife was pregnant. It is rather small, with no garage. Otherwise very nice. But we are hoping to move to something bigger once we get our $$ figured out. Good luck to you!
On another note. I started my new job last week, so my brain has been a bit fried. I might slow down posts at times, because of scheduling. But I will always come back :)
One thing you might try is see if she likes cloth underwear.
When my little boy found out how comfortable cotton is, he became enthusiastic about meeting the requirements for wearing it. Not that there wasn't an annoyingly long transition period ( and even now at 4 he'll sometimes have a wet spot in front from not wanting to take a break from play until it's almost too late ), but he's gotten to the point where he knows when he needs the potty and usually goes without help ( still teaching him to wipe himself though )
edit: If that doesn't work, I've heard good things about buying a bag of skittles and using individual skittles as a reward for going to the potty.
Just enough to get her into the habit, you know? Maybe congratulate her on finishing the bag?
I haven't tried it myself...
Well, I hijacked this thread.
After spending the day cleaning, the last of severn, the house is now on the market. What a pain in the ass! This house is small for three, 1300sq foot, so we really need to move up. Sadly we live in a very expensive town so it took some time. Still I feel like a light at the end of the tunnle.
My daughter seemed all into using the potty for about a week. A ton of success and was telling us before hand. I could almost see the moment where she realized that the potty took up time and it was easier not to use it. That moment she pretty much decided not to do it. My wife and I have, after consulting her grandmother a retired kindergarten teacher, to leave it be for now.
So back to the game. I am in a few games on here and this is one I enjoy the most. I feel bad that I do not have better focus at the moment but Bethany is getting better and better at smashing things so thats cool
I feel your pain. My house is 1212 square feet. No garage too.. sigh. Lights in tunnels are good!
Yeah the book talks about fighting back after a little while. Just kinda have to force it though. But every kid is so different. Good luck to you!
As for underwear and stuff.. Right now she is just going bottomless (unless outside in the fresh snow). So she can feel the pee and stuff. Also she is so young bribery might not work quite as well. She has had a few good "I need to pee" and actually pee in her potty moments. Just gotta keep it going.
@Bethany - Glad you are enjoying this game. This was my first I started DMing so I am excited to have gotten this far. You are all not too far from the end. I would say.. 70% or so. Long module :). Don't worry about focus. We all have our momemnts for sure.
lights at the ends of tunnels are good, the ones in them make train noises entirely too often :P
I am likewise very happy about this game ^^
Kinda miss our rat-man...
Oh, potty training just takes time, patience, and persistence. For some kids it's a really long arduous process, and for others it's a snap. All good suggestions up there. Instead of candy we did a sticker chart. Every time they used the potty successfully they got to pick out a sticker to put on it. When they were really young it was every time they tried. Even young ones like getting to put a sticker on a paper. Haha.
We also kept a lot of books in the bathroom, so when they had to be patient and sit on the potty but didn't want to they had a few board books to look at, or it was easy to read to them.
Also, a timer. For a lot of kids that have trouble, making it a habit helps. Just set the oven timer when your home for once every hour (or whatever time works for you), and make sure you get them to sit on the potty and try to go, even if they don't want to or feel like they need to. It helps make it routine. I found that helped for my kids both when they didn't want to go out of stubbornness, and for those times the kid knows they have to go, but don't want to stop playing and having fun.
Also, wow. Either all you guys are spoiled, or I just got used to tiny living! Haha. My first house was 450 sq. ft. One floor, no basement or anything. And my husband and I stayed there for years. For a while there was a teenage girl who needed a place to stay and was a relative, so we let her live in out tiny backroom until she found her feet (half a year or so, if I recall), and then it was just my husband and I again. Then we had two kids. When they were... a year old and a few months old, then we finally moved. We're been in a 1000 sq ft. apartment for the four of us for years and it's fine. We'll need to move in another few years though, when my kids need their own bedrooms. Can't share forever. Haha. But, that's not in the budget right now.
All the best with potty training and moving.
Yeah all good ideas. Day 2 went ok. She had a few good successes. Mostly would stealth pee and fight sitting down. Maybe some bribery will work. Its a long process. Pretty sure she is holding it and running around to pee in private, but she is too small to get on the potty easily herself (even a tiny one we have for her). 17 months is only so mobile. even if she is in like 95% of height hah
Yeah I think I am a bit spoiled. We moved here from a bigger house with a garage. So when we moved in we basically lost a room worth of space for garage stuff.. And my mother in law was living with us for 8 months. And her stuff is still here. If this house had a bit of storage for bins and more garage like things, and her stuff was not here, it would not be too bad. I also grew up in big tract homes in the dessert (or near to it).. Maybe its all just scale. I was 100% fine with my tiny 2 bedroom duplex when I moved up here (Washington state). Life has just grown.
Anyway.. We all need a bit of good luck :)
on the topic of leveling up: Grilnik is getting 7 hp from the die roll +3 from con +1 from favored class +5 from the Toughness feat for an increas of 16 from 37 to 53
I was hoping to catch up to Beth, but she rolled well on hp too xD
I guess I'll just save Shield Other for Vors and Brynn :P
Sense motive +1 rank
Perception +1 rank
Appraise +1 rank
Linguistics +1 rank (learned Terran for when I summon earth elementals, now that I can summon elementals pretty easily every day...)
Toughness (as mentioned)
3 3rd level spots, one of which can be used to cast Fly :D
Who wants to see a flying dwarf? :D
Or maybe a flying Bethany would be even better xD
A flying Brynn would probably be most practical...
You cannot take this skill without a natural means of flight or gliding. Creatures can also take ranks in Fly if they possess a reliable means of flying every day (either through a spell or other magical manner, such as a druid’s wild shape ability).
I'm not sure if the team cleric casting it once a day counts as everyone having "a reliable means of flying every day", but there's that possibility xD
Whaddya think DM Nex, should I just pick one person who can get ranks in Fly now? XD
To all my games: my city had had a crazy snowstorm. Was without power for 2 days. Water freezing in the house. We have power now but no internet, so instead of posting via phone (like I am now) things might get a bit delayed till everything is back up and safe.
Thanks for your understanding.
Geeez, to you and your family: stay safe!
Especially the cute little one T_T
Hope you are as safe and warm as you can be. Had a lot of that growing up in Buffalo so I know the situation well.
It's both of my kids birthdays tomorrow and we have a lot of parties to attend this month. It's unlikely I'll be able to post any weekend in March, starting with this one. And I definitely won't be posting tomorrow. Bot me as needed, please.
Yay babies xD
Now that you mention it, I'll have at least two birthdays to celebrate this month as well...
Also, does that mean you have twins too? :3
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Nope! My kids are a year apart to the day. Actually they're one year and one hour apart. Haha. My son is turning eight and my daughter's turning seven. How old are yours?
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Oh boy! Birthdays! Spring is here I guess.
I am sorry for the lack of posts in this game. For some reason I have been slacking on this one. I will get back into the grove soon. The tab is still open waiting for me to post :)
New job.. Trying to balance life and new expectations. Been fun so far.
Kids man.. My little one is growing up so fast! She likes to roll dice while we play :P. Starting her young.
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Starting her young? I approve! Haha.
Also the twins are turning 2 this month ^^
They have an older brother that's four; soon the sum of their ages will be greater than big bro's age xD

One year to the day that is amazing. My wife's sister is the same day but FIFTEEEN years older. Craxy timing.
My daughter is almost three and wants to play games. I am starting to do my one made up chose your own adventures with her, me kind of being the GM, to get her into things. Once we sell the house I will add a small dice component.
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Yeah starting with just talk through adventures is great. It is such a great learning tool. I am excited to really introduce her to it. Both me and her mom play all the time so it will likely be something she either loves, or learns to hate haha
