Marc Baradin
Round 5 Initiative: 25(+5), AC: 21, HP: 22/22, Conditions: Inspire Courage +1, Bless.
I think given Marc's 20-foot move, he'd probably still have to move some this round. So he'll move forward and attack.
Marc follows the others and rushes the Barghest.
Attack with Longsword (Power Attack, Inspire Courage, Bless) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Miss Chance (50%, high is good):1d2 ⇒ 2 Good

Miss chance, high = good. 1d100 ⇒ 22
Lucrezia Villanova
Since Lucius actually dropped before Lucrezia's heal went off, I'll add that she will be kneeling over him and beginning to cry when he wakes up.
Lucrezia Villanova
Round 5 Initiative: 9, AC:16, HP: 13/13
Still singing.
If the beast is still up, Lucrezia attempts to fire at it while still kneeling over Lucius.

DM Morvius
Round 5
The barghest snarls at the approaching group of characters. Marc's attack connects, but the beast seems to take little damage from the blow. It manages to fade from existence just as Raven and Hafdan attempt to strike it, their weapons passing harmlessly through its form as the lightning bolt from Zephyr similarly hits air. It bares its teeth and attacks Marc, clearly angered by the threat.

Lucius Cassius
Round 5 Initiative 14. AC 23, HP: 6/18, Conditions: Inspire Courage, Bless.
Lucius wakes from his unconscious state to see Lucrezia kneeling over him while the rest fight off the beast."Okay, so maybe I was wrong about how dire the situation was." He says as he looks down at his blood- stained armor. He adopts a defensive stance and attempts to stand up.
Standard - Total Defense
Move - Stand
I assume the Barghest is still adjacent? If he is, he can take an AOO. If he isn't, then instead of total defense, Lucius will pick up his bow.
Raven Hawthorne
Round 6:
Initiative 22, 15/15 hp, AC 17/11/16, CMD 16, Bless, Inspire Courage.
Seeing up close and personal how dangerous the beast is, Raven swallows hard, and then unleashes all of the devilish fury he can muster on the beast!
MW Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 22, for 2d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 + 1 = 16 Slashing damage.
Miss Chance (High is good): 1d100 ⇒ 95.
(Adjusting for a flank, if possible, to get an additional +2 to hit.)
Marc Baradin
Round 6 Initiative: 25(+5), AC: 21, HP: 9/22, Conditions: Inspire Courage +1, Bless.
Marc grunts as the creatures attacks hit home and lays into it again.
Attack with Longsword (Power Attack, Inspire Courage, Bless): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Miss Chance (50%, high is good): 1d2 ⇒ 2 Good
Damage with Longsword (Power Attack, Inspire Courage): 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
DM Morvius
The barghest is still adjacent, yes.
Bite AoO: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
The barghest fails to connect with Lucius and is then promptly felled by the attacks of Marc and Raven before it has the chance to press its attack. Upon searching the bodies, you find a suit of studded leather, one longsword, one shortsword, one shortbow, and 50gp. In addition, there is a handwritten note (in Goblin) stuffed in the pocket of the hobgoblin.
Lucius Cassius
Lucius breathes a sigh of relief as the creature's teeth miss his neck and again when it is cut down. He gingerly picks up his bow and straps it to his back. He locks eyes Lucrezia and wipes her tears with his hand. "Don't cry. I still have my life and my body parts are all accounted for. Besides, I much prefer your smile over your tears."
Raven Hawthorne
Raven breathes a sigh of relief when the beast falls.
He then nods to Lucius and Marc.
"Let's see if we can't get the two of you patched-up."
CLW (Lucius): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6.
CLW (Lucius): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5.
CLW (Marc): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3.
CLW (Marc): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5.
Well, those were some lack-luster rolls :-/ Raven is now out of spells for the day...
"I am afraid that that is the best I can do for the moment; shall we press on?"
Lucius Cassius
"Thank you, Raven. I feel better now. I'm alright with continuing on if everyone else is." He says turning to look at Raven for a moment before looking back to Lucrezia.
Zephyr Jeggare
As Raven tends to Lucius and Marc's wounds Zephyr approaches the broken bodies of the hobgoblin and the barghest. Retrieving a handkerchief, she pokes at the bodies to determine if either of them still live.
Heal checks to see if they still live/stabilize.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Lucrezia Villanova
Lucrezia grasps the hand that Lucius just used to wipe her tears and holds onto it tightly as she tries to smile up at him. "I'm alright with continueing on too, as long as you don't scare me like that again. I don't want to lose you."
Lucius Cassius
"I don't want to lose me either." Lucius laughs. "But in all seriousness, that means a lot to me. You don't have to worry. I won't leave you. Not now, not ever." He looks into her eyes with a rare seriousness.
Lucius Cassius
HP: 17/18/
"I'm alright. Still got a tiny cut from when that thing clawed me. But I think we should keep going."
Lucrezia Villanova
Still holding tightly to Lucius's hand, Lucrezia glances around at the woods. "Do we wait here to see if anything comes back or start walking now towards the marker?"
Perception check for either the wait or the walk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Raven Hawthorne
"Agreed. My blood is up, and I would prefer to press on."
DM Morvius
Those that haven't, please give me perception checks as you continue.
Stepping around the pit, you all continue on along the path. The forest grows denser still and eventually you come upon another clearing. Unlike the previous one, this one seems to have been man-made and tended to at least somewhat recently as stumps of recently cut trees dot the edge of the clearing. In the center of the area is a set of double doors in a mound that appear almost like cellar doors. They are heavy wood with iron reinforcements and there is a large padlock holding them closed.
Raven Hawthorne
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11.
Raven eyes the padlocked doors dubiously.
"Whom amongst us has skill with locks? Hafdan?"
Hafdan Jelspar
Hafdan will scan the area quickly before moving to the door. Dropping to a knee, he slowly eyes the door and lock, wary of any traps that might have been left. He then pulls out his tools and begins to work on the padlock, his eyes distant and focused.
Perception check for the quick check of the clearing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8.
Hafdan will Take 20 on searching the door and lock for traps.
Disable Device for any traps found: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Disable Device to open the padlock: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
DM Morvius
Lucrezia notices that while it is currently quiet, it is obvious that this clearing has had a lot of traffic quite recently, probably within the last couple of weeks. From just looking around it seems to be upwards of ten creatures of some kind given the disturbances to the fallen leaves and ground.
There are no noticeable traps on the doors and Hafdan is able to open the lock. It falls away with a thump and the doors are left unlocked. For those nearby there seems to be no sound coming from inside, but the doors being as thick as they are it is likely that they would muffle any sounds.
Lucrezia Villanova
Lucrezia finally releases Lucius's hand so that she can put away her bow and draw her rapier and shield. "I'm ready. Who wants to open the door?"
DM Morvius
When Marc open the doors there is a ramp with rather rough hand and foot holds dug into the left-hand side. It descends down about fifteen feet into nearly complete darkness. From what you can see of the tunnel at the bottom however it looks like it is roughly ten feet high and opens to be about fifteen feet wide. Lucrezia can hear faint sounds echoing far down the tunnel, but cannot determine exactly what it is.
If you head down, please let me know what light sources you are using and your order of marching.
Lucius Cassius
I was thinking Hafdan and Marc lead the way with Raven and Zephyr in the middle. Lucius and Lucrezia will bring up the rear.
Raven Hawthorne
The suggested party order is fine by me.
In case it is relevant, Raven does have Low Light Vision.
His eyes straining to catch objects at the limits of vision, Raven follows Hafdan and Marc into the tunnel.
DM Morvius
You continue down with Marc having to hold his shield out of the way to light the tunnel ahead. The walls are bare and featureless for about twenty feet from the base of the ramp until you start seeing holes dug out of the sides of the tunnel. They are rectangular and look like sleeping holes, but are empty at first. After another twenty feet or so you notice that the holes start to be filled with bones and other remains and it becomes clear that this area is a tomb of some sort. The skeletons vary in size and shape but all seem to be humanoid, some likely human, some likely hobgoblin, and some likely goblin in origin. After a total of nearly one hundred feet of tunnel you come to a large metal door and, from looking at the edges of the tunnel around it, you all notice that the walls beyond the door seem to be stone.
Everyone can give me perception checks that is either searching along the way and/or listening at the door. If you are doing both, one perception check is sufficient for everything.
Lucius Cassius
Lucius looks around for anything out of the ordinary, as hard as that might be.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Raven Hawthorne
Raven will have a quick search around as he is going along :-)
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22.
Once they reach the door, Raven eyes it carefully.
"Hafdan, perhaps you would care to check it for traps...?"
If it turns out to be trapped...
Raven moves back to a respectable distance (say, 20' back), and clambers into a side 'tunnel' to avoid any 'trap backlash ;-)
