Zephyr Jeggare
Zephyr's little garron trudged along at a very leisurely pace which was just fine for the young noblewoman. Looking over the handful of documents that explained her purpose out in rural Cheliax (for possibly the eighth time by this point) she almost missed the group of armed travelers heading in the opposite direction.
Urging her steed to a halt she calls out, "Excuse me good travelers. I am in search of the town of Lurien. Is it much further along this road?", she asks in a sweet voice.
Raven Hawthorne
"You have found it. Much of the town has been abandoned, though; only a few survive, behind a barricade deeper within the town."
Raven gestures in the appropriate direction.
"Tell me, who are you, and why are you in the area? There are not many travelers around here, what with the zombie plague..."
Lucrezia Villanova
Lucrezia gives the other woman an appraising look over as she waits for her response to Raven's question and pretends not to overhear Hafdan's comment.
Zephyr Jeggare
Oops, yeah I meant Gillamoor.
"Oh, excellent I-", Zephyr interrupts herself mid speech as she begins to recognize the group she's conversing with. "Forgive my lack an appropriate introduction a moment ago, I was ignorant of whom I was speaking with".
"I am Zephyr Cornelia, of the house Jeggare. I believe you are Raven of the Lord of Law, Marc Baradin, Hafdan Jelspar, Lucrezia Villanova, and Lucius Cassius?", she asks unnecessarily. "I am here for much the same reason you are. I am under orders from someone close to the queen herself to aid you in your endevours here."
Lucius Cassius
"Good to meet you then if you're here to help. I'm Lucius." He says as he gives a quick look to Lucrezia, hoping he chose his words wisely. He does his best to ignore Hafdan's remark.
Lucrezia Villanova
Lucrezia waits to see Lucius's response before offering her own. "Nice to meet you Zephyr. Might we inquire as to what your area of expertise is?"
Zephyr Jeggare
Zephyr's eyes narrow on Lucrezia for the briefest moment.
"Of course, dear. I am a student of The Art specialized in the summoning and binding of creatures from the many planes. In addition, I am quite well-read. My studies at the academy included a variety of academics beyond magical theory", the noblewoman explains with no shortage of pride.
Lucrezia Villanova
"We were just heading out to investigate movement seen in some of the abandoned homes. If you aren't too tired from your journey we can show you where we are staying and leave your horse with ours before we all continue the search?"
Zephyr Jeggare
Zephyr smiles sweetly.
"I am a bit sore but I can put aside my own personal comfort a bit longer in the interest of seeing to our duties", she says. "Please show me where to leave my steed and I will accompany you on your investigation".
"I'm afraid the reports I was given were woefully inadequate. Perhaps one of you could catch me up on what you have learned about this plague?"
DM Morvius
As you all head to the building, you notice it is a rather nondescript home towards the edge of the town proper. The door is closed and there is no obvious sign of anyone outside of the structure.
You can all give me perception checks, but let me know whether you are just looking around outside or searching the door/building itself.
Hafdan Jelspar
Hafdan mutters to himself as he steps up to the door and begins to run his hand slowly along the edge. "Damn spear better not skewer me again or I'm asking for hazard pay."
Perception check taking 20 for the door to look for signs of entry and for traps. Otherwise Hafdan will leave the rest of the house exterior to the others.
Lucius Cassius
Lucius also enters the building to search it.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Really?
However, Lucius as usual finds nothing of importance inside.
Raven Hawthorne
Whilst the others focus on the building, Raven will keep an eye on the surrounds, for any signs of more 'building infestations'...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23.
DM Morvius
The door cracks open and inside are two hobgoblins and a goblin standing with weapons drawn and clearly waiting for someone to enter. The goblin is holding a longbow and one hobgoblin has a greatsword while the other holds a steel shield and a longsword.
Go ahead and roll initiative, while the group inside was waiting for someone to enter, they weren't prepared for the door to get kicked in so neither of you will get surprise.

Zephyr's delicate features wrinkle in disgust at the sight of the creatures.
"Lord of Law, cast swift judgement against these foul beasts!", she exclaims.
Stepping aside, trying to get out of the line of sight of the room's goblinoid occupants, Zephyr begins muttering arcane syllables and performing short but clearly magical gestures as she casts a spell.

Seeing the archer-unfriendly room, Lucius hesitantly draws his sword as he moves into the room. He takes a swing at the goblin with the longbow.

Goblin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
The greatsword wielding hobgoblin seems surprised as Hafdan tumbles past him but turns around as Marc strikes at him. Despite the attack and Hafdan's strike at his back, he still stands and attempts to bring his greatsword down on Marc.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Zephyr Jeggare
Finishing the last few syllables of her spell Zephyr steps back into view of the room and flourishes with her right hand.
Summoning into a flank.
From out a thin air an eagle with ash and crimson streaked feathers appears. It emits a piercing a raptor's cry before beating its powerful wings to fly into position and laying into the hobgoblin.

Lucrezia fells the goblin and Lucius steps away from the body towards the nearest hobgoblin, the one wielding a greatsword, but cannot connect with it. Marc however finished the thing off as Zephyr's eagle takes a chunk out of the shielded hobgoblin. As Raven attempts to strike it, the hobgoblin deflects his blow and attempts to make a strike of its own.

Round 3
The remaining hobgoblin is brought low by the group descending upon it. It falls to the ground motionless. Upon searching the bodies, you find 200gp, two medium suits of studded leather, one small suit of studded leather, one longsword, one greatsword, one heavy steel shield, one small longbow and one small short sword. The goblin has the same metallic spike and barbs dug into its skin as the other goblins you've seen and all three sets of armor bear similar marking to the banners hung in the forest.
You can each take 600XP for the fight.
