The woman gets a horrified look on her face "Giant attack...what Giant attack...oh me oh my...my son is out there...tell me there aren't giants out there." she then falls into a heap and begins to sob. After a little bit she looks up "you said my family is safe...are you sure...you know my son is safe?" a look of pure relief is spreading over her features.

Theodric Strelley:

You wake up in a dungeon and you are chained to a wall by your hands and feet. Your face hurts and your right eye is swollen shut and you can feel the bone under it is very badly broken and you seem to be missing a few teeth on that side, almost as if you were struck by a very large object in the face. Trying to get your barrings you look around with your one good eye and see you are alone in your cell and no one else is in the adjoining cells. Slowly but surely the memories come back to you. You were leaving your mothers home in sandpoint after a visit home when a large shape appeared in front of you and knocked you out cold.

A few moments go by and you hear foot fall...very large very loud foot fall. A large stone giant comes walking through the large door in front of your cell, flanked by a red dragon.

Oh good your up...I was afraid my capture of you killed you. I've never seen anyone fall into a heap and evaluate their bowels at the same time like that. Now I need for you to come with me" he says as he produces a key and opens your sell door. He moves towards you, moving to unlock your shackles. The dragon will try to follow but the cell door isn't wide enough for him so he just sits back on his haunches and licks his chops as he looks at you, its maw hanging a little ajar, smoke coming out of its mouth.

Theodric when you replay PLEASE spoiler it. Lets not let this cat out of the bag yet lol


Theodric Strelley:

Upon waking up and feeling immediate pain, Theodric began to recall what had happened to him.

"Let's see...I was ambushed by something very big..."

When a stone giant and red dragon entered his cell, he put two and two together, thinking, "Well that answers the question of what ambushed me and brought me here."

Theodric sighed after having his wrists and ankles unchained, rubbing them to get the feeling back into.

"Best not do anything rash or stupid. Have to make myself useful to them until I can escape. Or someone comes to rescue me. I need to know why they kidnapped me and what is going on first," he thought to himself as he slowly pulled a pipe out of his pocket and stuck it in his mouth asking for a light.

"Since I'm guessing you were trying to not kill me upon capturing me that you need me to help you. Considering it would be in my best interests to aid you, I believe it would beneficial to both of us if we get down to business," the arcanist told the stone giant while stroking his handlebar mustache.

"We have fended off the giants madam. If you tell us where your son was last seen we can go and meet him to ensure he's safe" Siobhan gestures behind her back, trying to get Mal to come over and catch the conversation.


"He left my house several days ago but I got word that he didn't make it to his destination last night...I'm so worried. He thinks he can handle anything with his intellect but that just isn't true...but thank you for fending off the giants...I hope they didn't do you any harm. I was wondering what that loud thunk I heard was."

Theodric:

The stone giant got a wide grin on his face "The dragon would love to help you light your pipe but...I'm afraid he'd light your face on fire to." The dragon speaks up at this "Can I master please...I promise it won't hurt...much." The stone giant holds up a hand and the dragon stops speaking. "Don't mind Longtooth, he's still quite young for a dragon. Yes business very wise of you. I understand that you are able to use and detect magic is this correct?"

Theodric:

Theodric simply shrugged his shoulders when the giant made jest about the dragon lighting more than his pipe. Slowly, he lit his pipe with a match as while he could have used his magic to light the pipe, he didn't want his captors to figure out that he several spells already. Especially since those same spells would be quite useful against them, especially the dragon.

"Thank you. I'm actually surprised you have a dragon under your control. You must have a Dragon Orb in your possession then to be able to command him, but that's beside the point. To answer your question: yes and no. By 'yes,' I can use and detect magic. By 'no,' well, I should say maybe instead of no, as I'm quite certain you don't want to hear me say no. It actually depends on what you want me to detect. Certain things have varying degrees of magic, and I'm not just speaking of schools of magic. If what you seek is around other forms of magic, it would be difficult to pick out this certain 'magic' if you will."

Taking a puff of his pipe, he continued, hoping to appease his 'employer', "However, if one knows exactly what one is looking for, the difficulty of finding a certain magic, whether an item, person, place, or whatever, becomes quite low. Not effortlessly mind you, but sufficiently easier. If you would return my hat and staff, as well as my satchel and in addition, heal my wounds, I'll do my best to aid you. The hat just makes me think better that's all, while the staff I use to walk around with, while the satchel will have various items useful in aiding you. Besides, you don't have to worry about me trying to escape or fight back. I can see that such thoughts are useless. Not to mention, if I'm not useful to you in my current condition. You have my word that I won't stab you in the back. Besides, such a noble and great giant like you should have no fear of an insect like me."

He's trying to suck up to the giant and the giant's sense of superiority. The mentioning of the Dragon Orb is to get the dragon to worry about the giants as all dragons, regardless of type, despise these magical orbs as no dragon wants to see another dragon enslave by a non-dragon.

Ithalil climbs down from the tree. The area is clear as far as I can see. We can rest easy and check for wounded.


The woman startles as Wargrym talks and just shakes her head. "I assumed he would go back to Korvosa. He told me he was working at the university there but someone from the university reached out to me to let me know he had never arrived."

Theodric:

The dragon shakes its head "I am not his slave!" he hisses at the mention of the dragon orb. The giant strokes the dragon on the head to calm him. "Easy Longtooth, no need to get angry. He didn't mean to imply anything he just assumes to much." Longtooth leans into the giants hand and closes his eyes, letting out a long puff of smoke as he exhales. "...why didn't you just let me eat him...I don't think he's going to be very useful" Longtooth says after a long, almost intimate silence between the two of them.

At the request to give you back your property the giant looks almost taken a back. His eyes narrow as he looks at you intently for a moment. He then grins widely "About time we capture someone and they realize the best thing to do is to cooperate. Sure thing I'll go get your stuff and I can then tell you what we're looking for."

"We will watch out for your son Ma'am if you can give us a description."

Once the woman describes her son Siobhan turns away and gestures for the rest to come with her. "We need to go and talk to Sheriff Belor, and I don't want anyone overhearing our plans for what comes next"

Once they are safely away from prying ears Siobhan starts planning. "This was only a scouting party, but that must mean they're close. I think we need to take the fight to them, strike either today or tonight with the element of surprise. Try and deal with them before they can attack the town. If we move out soon we might be able to find their camp before they expect the scouts back - then we can sneak in or strike while they're weak. If we need to watch out for this missing fellow then haste is best - he's probably been taken."

Siobhan looks around at the rest of her team. "I say we take this plan to the Sheriff and then move out as quickly as we can. What do you guys think?"

Theodric only hoped his familiar was able to find help but he wasn't about to reveal that he had one. Still he knew that several useful items in his magic satchel would be most helpful in case he had to turn on his captors. He just hoped that he would live long enough to find out what was going on.

You make your way to the sheriff office and he startles a little at Siobhan being back so soon. A wide grin crosses his face as he greets the rest of the party. "Well I hear from my guards that you guys had a bit of an interesting morning. And you handled it masterfully I must say. So what can I do for you now? Let me guess you want me to lock down the city because, thanks to our guests this morning, you believe the giant threat is near and your going to go off to deal with it? If thats the case do you think we have time to wait for reinforcements from Magnimar to arrive? It would take about a week..."

Hey Theoric does true speech allow your familiar to speak with the party and understand what they say back?

It's how Lexie talks to Siobhan when Siobhan's curse kicks in.

Siobhan smiles back at the sheriff. "Yes, Team Testosterone handled themselves very well. In terms of waiting for reinforcements you could certainly summon them, but I doubt the giants will wait a week now we've taken out their scouts. I'd expect in fact that they'd be inclined to come with overwhelming force a second time round."

Looking around at the others for agreement she continues "We have all agreed that we had best strike soon, if we hit hard while they believe they are safe we should be able to scatter them and break their morale. Even if we can't stop them causing chaos in the camp will hold them up and buy more time for the reinforcements to arrive.

If you permit Sheriff we will leave as soon as possible. We should be back before dark."

I will stay at the gates. When you are ready we can follow the giants tracks back to their camp. Hit them hard and get out.

"Thank you Sheriff. Boys, if we head to the Goblin Squash Stables we can pick up Mal's horse and hire some more for a day or so, Davrian won't mind I imagine."

Siobhan will lead the way to the stables and haggle with Davrian for the hiring of three horses. Do you want a roll for that? Then take the horses to the gate to meet with Ithalil and ride on!

Before leaving Mal closes with the Sheriff and blesses him "May the luck fall on your side and be your song the one who we dance to tonight... Good luck and be courageous Sheriff, Sandpoint is in good hands." and he smiles before going with the rest


Do you guys go back and make sure Shayless knows to hide before you ride off?

As you guys get to the stables you see a very small creature arguing rather passionately with Davrian. As you approach you catch the tail end of her conversation. "...they're the hero's of sand point you have to know where they are. Start talking or so help me I will..." the voice trails off as Davrian points at Siobhan. "There is their leader" he says.

Siobhan you see a very small creature fly over to you as quickly as its wings can carry her. You can make a knowledge Planes check to identify what the creature is. "My master...he has been kidnapped. I tried to do what I can but...they blitzed us and we didn't see it coming. He was taken by a dragon and a giant. I tried to follow but I lost them in the woods. Can you please help me find him?"

Siobhan will spend a little longer speaking soothing words to the worried familiar, before introducing it to Lexie and speaking to Davrian, unless someone else gets there first.

Ithalil joins them at the gate. Their trail should be very easy to follow
track: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20


Ithalil you are able to track the trail of the giants easily and a few hours into the trip the Archon asks that you guys stop. "This is where he was taken" she will let everyone know.

You can investigate his abduction if you so wish

Theodric Strelley:

Much to Longtooths chagrin and avid protests the stone giant returns with your belongings. "Why strip him of everything if your just going to return it" the dragon hisses in frustration. "The wizard is willing to help us and Lord Mokmurian has tasked me with a very important task. You may want to face his ire Longtooth but I do not..." the two argue as they approach your cell. When they arrive back at your cell the giant sets you free and returns your stone. "How versed are you in Thassilonian history?" he asks. The dragon stands out side your cell clearly frustrated and un-trusting of you, long tendrils of smoke wafting out of its nose as it breaths. If you take time to look him over he will make it a point to show off his tooth filled maw to you.

War looks about trying to gain any clues as to what abducted the mage and any other relevant clues

perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37


track: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 To see what I can learn about the fight from the tracks

dungeoneering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 To try to identify what monsters where involved in the fight.


The Harbinger shakes her head and looks almost affronted by Siobhan at calling her master a Wizard. "No he's an arcanist. Its like a wizard but much more powerful. He's a scholar and studies ancient civilizations, specifically Thassilon. He used to live in Sandpoint, but now he travels and studies the ancient ruins. His mother still lives in town...I bet she's a mess right about now..."

Wargrym you are able to see some very very large tracks leading to a spot along the path. They stop and there is a small pool of blood and then the footprints continue with another set joining them a bit down the road. Ithalil you are not able to track the beast that did this nor are you able to identify it.

Wargrym is able to find a trail leading where the large creatures went.

The Harbinger will excuse herself from her conversation with Siobhan and fly up next to Ithalil. "It was a stone giant and a red dragon that took him...I see you trying to figure that out and failing...thought I would help."

After thanking him for the return of his belongings, Theodric thought to himself as the dragon and giant got into an argument, "Lord Mokmurian? So that's their leader's name. You don't see any signs of ambush and you would guess from the tracks that it was very young yet. Having found everything there is to find you mount back up and follow the trail. You follow it for the rest of the day and into dusk until its to hard to track in the dark. You make camp for the night.
