Big Game Hunter: +1 to hit and ac vs larger creatures
Blessing of Fervor, +2 hit and ac
"ok Malcolm...standard trip protocol. Pepper him with arrows til he charges, hold off with your sword til I sweep his legs with my first strike, then flanking positions and weapons free ...just like always. Bigger they are, harder they fall"

Ithalil |

I'm in position and ready to go. Don't worry about putting blur on me. I have a little something up my sleeve

![]() |

Malcolm focuses his divine power into cutting the giant's connection to flow of Luck. He Smites Evil. Yeah, Desna rocks
3 Smite Evil remaining

![]() |

Siobhan looked down from her lofty position and evaluated. Mal and Wargrym are ready. Ithalil is in position and Zarion... will do what Zarion does best. Lets get this party started.
Swooping overhead Siobhan unleashes one of her most dubious spells - the giant recoiling in suprise and fear as the landscape around him turns hellish, the land darkens and even the sky takes on an infernal hue.
Can't give a clearer signal than that!

Standard: Cast Vision of Hell centered on the giant. He needs to make a DC21 will save.

looking at the map and at the positions of Ithalil and Zarion. Wargrym definitely needs to be in front of them. Moved him on the map so he's in position to engage the giant once it gets on this side of the river.

Zarion begins a chant of his own, tattoos swirling and coalescing into a tiger that glows with both magic and celestial light, and directs it with a simple command. "Get him, kitty." Sure, it was blowing a stronger summon at the start of the day, but they just didn't have time to screw around. The orange and black feline obliged, prowling forward.
Using my tattooed sorcerer ability to summon as a standard, and then the tiger will use its move action to cross the bridge and activate Smite Evil as a swift action.

Surprise round wrap up
Ithalil lets rip with two shots from his oathbow and one sticks him right in the thigh. The giant roars out in pain. The other arrow sails just wide of the giants leg. Wargrym readies to trip the giant when he gets into range. Malcom redies smite evil and then waits for the giant to come into range. Sibohan casts Vision of Hell on the giant but he shakes off the vision. Zarion You summon your tiger and it makes its way across the bridge. The giant moves up to the road and seeing the Tiger there launches a rock at it. He lets out a frusterated roar as the rock sails over the tiger.

Zarion Draseit |

Zarion incants one of his few directly offensive spells before the tiger can close the remaining distance with the giant, firing an arrow made of pure acid at the giant. He grins as the tiger pounces on the giant. The animal knows better than to try and hold the giant; it's bigger as a matter of simple fact. That doesn't stop it from clawing at the thing savagely, before making an attempt to bite it in the leg.

"Yrst-rith, ckithun kek di sorltpai!" Siobhan hisses, her voice completely unrecognisable, as it is when she is in the grip of her powers. At her command great ribbons of shadow begin worming their way out of the ground, engulfing the giants legs and the tiger who was savaging him.

Apparently the wrap up round happened out of init order...I apologize. The dice rolls changed when I made my post. This round will be posted in the proper order.
Round 1 Wrap up
Wargrym concentrates for a moment and waits for the giant to come into range. Zarion you shoot your bolt of acid at the giant but it clangs harmlessly off the Giant. Your tiger moves up and attacks the giant however none of its attacks are able to penetrate the giants thick hide and armor. Ithalil you let loose two arrows and one of them strikes true but not in a vital spot. He roars out again and glares at you "Your sharp sticks hurt, stop firing them at me." and then moves toward the rock pile near him, which provokes an attack of opportunity from the tiger. Unfortunately as the tiger lashes out he slips and ends up scratching himself for 4 damage. The giant then hurls a rock at Ithalil. The rock gets stopped by the bushes Ithalil is behind. The giant growls out in frustration. "Puny human if you want to fight come out and fight me like a man." Malcolm goes to let loose three arrows from his bow and for the first draw he accidentally pricks himself with his own arrow, having accidentally put it in the quiver backwards. He takes 2 points of damage. One of the other arrows sails right into the giants thigh while the other one pings off his armor. Siobhan you cast black tentacles but the giant laughs as your tentacles fail to hold him. "Takes more than that to hold me down little girl" he calls out mockingly.

Damage:2d6 + 15 ⇒ (6, 4) + 15 = 25

Tough round for you guys. And Malcolm I forgot to mention that your smite evil isn't active as he isn't evil. Seeing how you can detect evil at will I'm willing to let you not waste the use of smite evil. Please readjust your rolls for the following rounds and I adjusted them for you this round by subtracting the smite bonuses from your rolls.

![]() |

Seeing as the giant isn't clearly evil, Mal turns to Wargrym "He... he isn't evil. I don't know if he is an enemy!" Then, before keeping fire, he shouts to the rest. "Don't kill him unless under dire needs, he isn't evil!"
Attacks: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 221d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 251d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Wargrym |

Hearing Malcolm say the Giant is NOT Evil Wargrym shouts in a voice amplified by his giant-sized lungs "STOP.....STOP attacking the Giant! He is not Evil. He may not be a foe!"
Having said this Wargrym turns back to the Giant arms spread wide "Please don't come closer. We may have made a mistake. Let us talk. We are the Guardians of Sandpoint. Who are you?"

Ithalil |

oathbow to hit: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 181d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
dmg: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 191d8 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Damn for a lumbering beast he know's how to dodge. I better be careful he doesn't squish me with one of those boulders.
Ithalil hears Malcom's cry to late to stop his attack. After letting his arrows fly Ithalil takes an over watch position readying his next flight of arrows. Should the giant resume his attack.

![]() |

Siobhan hears Mal's shout and curses viciously. I won't be able to say anything unless this calms down... Lexie rhopri skrurbtic! (Lexie - help me!)
================
Siobhan holds action.

Zarion Draseit |

Zarion is already moving to conjure another acid arrow, having missed with the first, but the shouts from Malcom and Wargrym make him abort the incantation, drips of acid that he'd started to conjure falling harmlessly to the ground around his feet. "Blood and ashes, you didn't check that first, Mal? You're slipping." He dismisses his tiger with a wave of his hand; it's tangled up in Siobhan's tentacles anyways, and there's no point in it attempting escape. It's fairly rubbish at it. "Alright, no fighting yet. Got it. So, giant, what are you doing here?"
Zarion will standard-action dismiss the tiger, because it has about a snowball's chance in hell of getting out of those tentacles, and a less than half chance of landing a decent hit on the thing. Assisting in diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19, if I get a 10 that's +2 to Wargrym.
Active Effects: 4 Mount spells with a duration of 20 hours each, also known as "more than enough".

![]() |

Malcolm speaks in a loud voice "We are sorry for having attacked you but our town is in danger of attack... from giants we have gathered. Pleaseforgive us and let us talk, after that I will heeal you myself. What are you doing here?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37
Being a paladin rocks.

DM Mathpro |
The giant roars out in frustration at Wargrym's words. "Oh you attacked me on accident huh...I'm just walking along minding my own business and you lot start attacking me. How do you think that makes me feel?" At Malcolm's words he scoffs "So just because I'm 20 feet tall you attack me on sight...if you haven't noticed Sandpoint is in the opposite direction then where I was headed...though I guess I can understand your position. I however have no qualms with Sandpoint...though I have heard of talk of Stone Giants gathering against it recently."

Wargrym |

Hah Diplomacy Wargrym? lol
+2 from Zarion
diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) - 1 + 2 = 18
that's about as good as it'll ever get from Wargrym
very well spoken for a giant. usually it's "me crush, you run"
"Just Stone Giants? Any other types of giants coming to attack Sandpoint? And do you know anything about a dragon with the Stone Giants?"

Ithalil |

Just because it is not evil does not mean it is not our enemy. Ithalil moves to a better spot hiding in the foliage stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31 Keeping an arrow noched and ready to fly as soon as the giant attacks his friends. holding action

![]() |

DM - can you let me know when the situation is no longer stressful enough to trigger Siobhan's curse? Don't you just hate it when well over 20 points in diplomacy is being blocked by stress?!

![]() |

Malcolm hangs his bow from the horse and yells "May I come near you? I want to keep talking but I want to heal you first... I'm deeply ashamed for attacking you without thinking."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22

DM Mathpro |
The giant reluctantly moves forward and comes up next to Malcolm. "Careful with those arrows they're lodged deep...your friend behind the bush was a good shot as are you." As Malcolm is healing him Wargrym. "As far as I've heard its just stone giants though if you have heard of a dragon...then I know who you face. His name is Teraktinus. He's rumored to work for a very powerful stone giant wizard. If your getting tangled with him...well I wouldn't if I were you."

Wargrym |

wow a friendly Giant...even after we stuck it with all those arrows...amazing
"What kind of Dragon is Teraktinus? Black, Green, Red? Do you have any idea of where the Stone Giant Wizard is? And why might he be so interested in Sandpoint?"
Even in his Enlarged state, Wargrym still has to look up at the Giant and respect its power and size.

DM Mathpro |
"Red I believe and no clue where the stone giant wizard is I keep my distance from him or any of his associates...rumor has it he murdered his entire family. I know he has interest in old magical ruins but I'm not familiar with Sandpoint enough to tell you exactly what he might be after. Isn't it full of thassilonian ruins?"
Oh and siobhan your pretty sure its safe now and the effect of your curse wears off.

![]() |

Siobhan descends and vanishes her wings. (I assume that's one minute of my allowance?)
"Greetings friend. My companions have already offered our apologies but let me say also how sorry I am for the misunderstanding between us. If there is anything we can do to assist you please say so.
Would you consider travelling with us to Sandpoint? Your knowledge could be invaluable to us and we could promise you your fill of food and ale. Otherwise I would simply ask your name, as amongst friends, and wish you good day - since we must hurry to return before Teraktinus and his men."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (3) + 28 = 31

Zarion Draseit |

Content to leave negotiations to those who are good at them, Zarion attempts to make himself a background fixture, calling all the horses together with shouted commands in Varisian and being grateful that summoning magic also bound the conjured animals to follow orders.

Ithalil |

Continues to watch the parley, not trusting the giant.

![]() |

Malcolm's face brigthens up again since the shame after hearing Sio's words "That's a wonderful idea! And Wargrym and I would be by your side always; if you need healing, I'll be there and it will be something worth of a song! I'll write the song, you'll love it" he says, showing that the idea of having a giant friend really excites him.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29

Wargrym |

"then I guess we part ways here then. . We would love to have a mighty ally like you to help defend Sandpoint. . But if we can't talk you into it I understand... Fare thee well mighty Giant.... Sorry again about the arrows. Before we part can you give me your name? Mine is Wargrym "
-Posted with Wayfinder

Ithalil |

Seeing that the giant is not being aggressive. Ithalil steps out of hiding. Keeping his bow ready and staying well out of melee range.

Wargrym |

after the Giant leaves ...whenever that is...Wargrym will take the time to use 2 of his 4 1rst lvl pearls power to recall his Shield and Enlarge Person spells

DM Mathpro |
The giant smiles down at Wargrym and extends a gigantic hand "Names Gromish. I hope you fair well and don't get in over your heads...though I fear it may be to late for that." With that he will turn to leave. The rest of the day goes uneventfully but you all have a choice to make. When the sun sets for the day you guesstimate you are only about another 3-4 hours from sandpoint. The horses have knocked off a large chunk of time but the real horse grows tired as do you. Do you push on to sandpoint this night or do you rest for the night?

![]() |

"If we're as close to Sandpoint as you say Ithalil I think we might do best to carry on. I can offer healing for us and the horses if need be, keep the fatigue off at least. I won't be much use tomorrow unless I get some sleep, but we could reach Sandpoint tonight..."
-----------------------------------
Siobhan has 8 casts of lesser restoration and a few more blessings of fervor if need be to make fatigue and speed a non-issue, at least long enough to get us to Sandpoint. If people agree I'll throw around enough to keep the real horse and all of us alert for another 4 hours or so.

![]() |

Luckily for us Malcolm removes Fatigue with his Lay on Hands!

Wargrym |

"Sounds great. Let's keep going. Camping for the night while so close to Sandpoint doesn't sound right to me. If something were to happen at Sandpoint tonight ....."

Ithalil |

Then it is agreed. We will carry on to Sandpoint. Hopefully beat this giant army.
Ithalil mounts the horse, waiting for his friends to mount their horses.

DM Mathpro |
After a brief pause for Siobhan and Malcolm to help everyone wake up a little more and a quick much on some rations you all continue on to Sandpoint. After a worry filled few hours of riding you crest the final hill and there it is, home. It still stands and it is a welcome sight for your eyes and you all get a sudden surge of energy as you realize your not to late. The town is dark when you arrive and everyone is asleep. The only lights on are coming from the pixies kitten as its denizens are working late into the night. As you continue through town you make your way to the rusty dragon and you find its doors locked for the night but you are able to stable the horse with out a problem.
Would you guys have another place by now or would you will be taking advantage of Ameiko's kindness lol

Wargrym |

sorry... Not sure who Amieko is....but if someone wants to be kind to him he's not one to turn down kindness. Wargrym is perfectly happy at an Inn... It's great entertainment watching drunks try to hit on Siobhan... it never seems to work out for those poor guys

It may have something to do with the way she turns them down but that hasn't happened for a while. Rumors of the last persistent drunk having his 'vigor' cursed out of him are are long-lasting but entirely unfounded... Although you all remember what happened to that guy in Turtleback Ferry...
Siobhan gets on well with Ameiko, but privacy does become an issue at Inns, particularly when you've led a pretty insular life. She will have paid for/rented a house in Sandpoint, Marcellus will live there on a permanent basis and Siobhan (and nice people like Mal :P) live there as long as they behave!
