DM Khel |
As John yells out useful advice, he misses with his dagger, but reminds his companions that the foe they're currently fighting is a daughter of the powerful Blakros family, at present under the control of some otherworldly force. Yugatta moves into position to act on this counsel.
Falom and Oloch are up!
Oloch / lucklesshero's pregen |
Oloch's will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Oloch will continue to keep his saves at +1 with war mind. Oloch ask for Gorum's favor and covert's his last remaining 1st level spell to cure lt wounds. He bends down and heals Ser Williem for cure lt: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Get up Warrior ! Gorum has blood for you to shed yet! Oloch then steps over the prone Ser Willem and draws closer to their mutual enemy.
Test Subject #37 |
Falom drops her bow and draws her Ankly. Moves to trip the woman.
Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
and fails to do so.
DM Khel |
Falom - need a DC 11 Will save from you vs color spray. If you fail, you're blinded and stunned for 3 rounds.
The towering figure of Oloch bends down and heals Ser Willem, then moves up to Imrizade.
Round 6 Initiative:
Imrizade (-16 hp)
Falom
Yugatta
John Carlos
Oloch
Willem (conscious, prone)
Now that he's healed, Willem gets a turn!
Test Subject #37 |
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Ser Willem Dargerion |
"That's it. I've had about enough out of you, young lady.", Willem says groggily as he gets to his feet, sword in hand.
5ft crawl to get out of her reach, then stand up. All defensive like..
DM Khel |
For the record, Willem, any crawling provokes an AoO - but she doesn't have a weapon in hand, so it doesn't really matter.
"I am no young lady!" Imrizade calls out, her voice not that of a young lady at all, but a distant, otherworldly baritone. She sends another beam of color from her wand, then steps to one side.
DC 11 Will saves again from Willem and Oloch. If Oloch fails, he's blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds, Willem for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.
Round 6 Initiative:
Imrizade (-16 hp)
Falom
Yugatta
John Carlos
Oloch
Willem
Pathfinders, go!
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos |
John steps deftly behind her, blocking her path to the portal. "Either knock her out or destroy that cylinder. I'm pretty sure we can save her, she hasn't been under the influence of whatever is out there for that long!"
Taking his own words to heart, he tries to bonk her on the head with the heel of his dagger.
Dagger - Nonlethal: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 4 = 7 for Nonlethal: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Dagger - Nonlethal: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 15 for Nonlethal: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Oloch / lucklesshero's pregen |
will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 OK well crud using my 'year of the stolen storm T-shirt re-roll will save re-roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 wow almost didn't make it the second time!
Oloch is tired of playing games with this sorceress, She's almost knocked him blind a couple of times with that nasty wand now. However, bloodlust hasn't completely overwhelmed him, so he decides to heed John Carlos's words and uses the flat of his blade to try and knock the woman un-conscious. lg greatsword nonlethal: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 1 - 4 = 15 NL dmg: 3d6 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) + 8 + 3 = 19 Stop woman! Or I'll use the edge and not the blunt of my blade on the next swing!
Yugatta Sakittumi |
Yugatta attempts to destroy the cylinder.
Move action to ready temple sword.
Temple Sword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Damage, Two Handed: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Test Subject #37 |
Falom moves forward to flank the spell caster. Pulling out her Elven Curved Blade while moving.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11DMG: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
She misses.
DM Khel |
Falom swings her blade and misses Imrizade! Yugatta hits the strange cylinder with all she's got, but her attack does not even leave a mark - clearly it needs to be hit harder. John Carlos attempts to thwack Imrizade with his dagger's pommel, but the movement is simply too awkward for him to connect. Oloch swings the flat of his massive blade clean over the Blakros woman's head as he threatens her. His threats fall on deaf ears as Imrizade, her eyes as black as night, is clearly not in control of herself at the moment.
Round 6 Initiative:
Imrizade (-16 hp)
Falom
Yugatta
John Carlos
Oloch
Willem
Willem is up!
Ser Willem Dargerion |
I had thought she had reach when she hit Yugatta earlier, but no worries.
Will Save v. DC 11: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
As the wave of light washes over him, Willem's determination shakes off the effects this time. Gritting his teeth, he charges at the girl and focuses his attack on her wand...
Sword Strike, destroy wand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
I don't know if I get my +4 challenge damage bonus or not because I am attacking the wand and not her specifically. Not that it matters with that roll...
Oloch / lucklesshero's pregen |

I explained this so you'll know next time how to do this. Hope it helped!
Lastly your CMB is '6' so if the GM keeps th '5' you rolled, it's highly unlikely this maneuver succeeded this time. But, don't let that discourage you from trying things like this! My guess is you'd have a better the 50% chance of this succeeding and there are little consequences for trying!Ser Willem Dargerion |
Thanks for the reminder Oloch, I just couldn't remember the rules off the top of my head for Sundering while I was typing it out. I kept getting the PF rules and 3.x rules confused... Let's see if it works though, that 5 on the die is not a good roll..
DM Khel |
Hmm, wasn’t getting new post notifications on this thread – and this morning I had an emergency root canal! Enough excuses, back to the task at hand!
Oloch – thanks for explaining the sunder situation so clearly!
Willem swings at Imrizade’s wand, but she’s too quick and whips it out of the way! In retaliation, she steps towards the wall and uses the wand right back at the Pathfinders!
Sorry to keep doing the same thing to you guys, but she’s in a pretty tough spot to cast spells.
Need DC 11 Will saves from Oloch, Willem and Falom. Failure means blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 2rounds for Oloch,1d4 ⇒ 4 for Willem and 1d4 ⇒ 1 for Falom.
Round 7 Initiative:
Imrizade (-16 hp)
Falom
Yugatta
John Carlos
Oloch
Willem
Party is up, finish this!
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos |
John darts around behind Imrizade, giving her something to be concerned about from all sides. He points to her direct opposite and tells his allies, "move there and flank, keep her on her toes." Once an ally moves into position, John tries the heel of his dagger trick again.
Dagger - Nonlethal + Flank: 1d20 + 4 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 4 + 2 = 18 for Nonlethal: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ser Willem Dargerion |
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Willem sees through her magic now and presses the attack. That wand will be gone or him in the process. 5ft to flank for John, Sunder
Disarm Wand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Oloch / lucklesshero's pregen |
will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21Oloch abandons attacking the woman and focuses on the cylinder. There's no honor in destroying a person that doesn't have their wits... sword strike on cylinder: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 = 13dmg: 3d6 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 6, 1) + 8 + 3 = 22 (GM if you require a sunder check instead of an attack roll against the cylinder just take -1 off the attack roll and convert it to a CMB roll thx.)(*edit* My CMB now = BAB +3+ STR. +5 + Size +1 +Bless +1=CMB:10 (so same as attack roll but a couple different modifiers)
Test Subject #37 |
Falom tries to slash thee woman again.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21DMG: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8sneak attack: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
DM Khel |
Awesome, how to finish this in style! I’m going to use Falom’s first d20 roll as her will save, rather than an attack roll, which she won’t need anyway.
Imrizade’s wave of dazzling color washes over the Pathfinders, but they all resist its effects! Then as if they’d planned it all along, Willem steps in and flicks the wand from the possessed woman’s hand just as Oloch brings his massive blade down on the strange, glowing cylinder, cracking it in half! The unearthly green glow fades from the cylinder, as the creepy, fungoid umbilicals connecting Imrizade to the gate retract rapidly, like a child’s slapped hand! The ghostly whispers emanating from the gate rise in pitch and urgency, sounding briefly like some great, mysterious whisperer from beyond is going to emerge from the gate, then the sounds cease abruptly! The gate itself begins twisting and shaking itself apart, before disintegrating in the blink of an eye!
In the ensuing silence, Imrizade drops to her knees. Her black eyes revert to those of a normal woman, though perhaps one who has glimpsed dark things that she will forever regret seeing. She looks around in confusion and alarm a moment, then asks, ”What happened? What have I done?”
Oloch / lucklesshero's pregen |
Oloch looks at the woman in quizzical disgust, You let yourself be overcome, by extra-planar entities. I choose to sever the connection because, my fellow Pathfinders, deemed you worth sparing. Oloch bends over and uses the remnants of one of the zombie guards clothing to clean his blade.
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos |
John carefully puts his hand on her shoulder reassuringly, "it's okay my dear, please pay little attention to my rude ally's attitude. You were, as he said, were possessed by aberrations beyond our comprehension. It's uh... something I have a small bit of experience with as well."
He gives her a brave smile, "I'm sure you made some mistakes getting to this point but I'm glad to see regret in your eyes. That shows hope, hope that you can handle what has happened and make amends."
John helps her to her feet, "now, I just want to let you know that I am here to support you while dealing with the after affects of your... exposure to those things. I also have some wise friends who have helped me deal with similar issues so you are welcome to use them as well."
Ser Willem Dargerion |
Ser Willem assists John getting Imrizade to her feet. He was nothing if not a courtly gentleman. Here was the real damsel in distress. He smiled to himself as he spoke. "As my companions have offered, we will take you to somewhere safe to make sure that whatever is left of that entity is truly gone and hopefully you will be able to make amends. These things happen and luckily we were able to stop it before it got out of hand."
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos |
John glances down at the murdered guards... this isn't 'out of hand'? I'm going to have to party with this guy!
DM Khel |
Imrizade’s eyes widen a bit in surprise at Oloch’s words, but she’s clearly reassured by what John and Willem have to say. Speaking as much to herself as to the Pathfinders present, she says, ”He must have taken control of me, Kubburum Ishmedagan. An ancient aberrant sorcerer, controlling my actions through the Gate of Beyond. I may never be free of the experience, not completely…”
Shaking her head to clear it, she says to the party, ”I thank you for what you’ve done, and I’m sorry for any harm I’ve caused. Please, let us leave this place.”
Once all is explained – or at least as much as such a bizarre chain of events can be explained, it is clear the party has done very well in a difficult circumstance. Their actions earn the gratitude of Nigel Aldain, the powerful Blakros family, and Imrizade herself, who happily turns over the Osirian artifacts she has collected, and grants the Pathfinder Society unrestricted access to the Blakros family archives.
All missions accomplished! And, though it was close, nobody died!
