There's no mention in the post of him moving away and if he is, because of the difficult terrain he can't 5-foot step which means he couldn't full attack. That's my confusion, is there something he has that prevents AoO's for firing a ranged weapon in melee?
Damn, I didn't read it right either. No, I guess I don't have anything to stop AOOs stemming from firing in melee, then. And I guess the haste doesn't help us 5' step? Oh well. :P

The group tears into the boggards, Grutsnick and Finnian dispatching half their number with axes chops and sword blows.
Lorelei and Barker pepper one with bolts and acid while Reginald and Alexander stun and attack the other.
The boggards can't even retaliate for their fallen brethren as they don't manage to land a single hit against the party.
Round 3:
Reginald: Init 23, HP 62/62, AC 20
Finnian: Init 23 HP 66/66, AC 24 (22 regularly) (Shaken for 2 rounds)
Grutsnick: Init 22, HP 62/96(84 normally), AC 16 (20 regularly)
Barker: Init 22, 45/60 AC 18
B1: Init 20, HP 0/59, AC 13 (Staggered)
B2: Dead -33/59
B3: Dead -10/59
B4: Init 20, HP 44/59, AC 13 (Stunned until it's action)
Lorelei: Init 15 HP 36/36, AC 12
Alexander: Init 9, HP 60/60, AC 17
Sorry for the lamely abbrieviated update. Internet monster ate the original post and I was too frustrated to retype it.
Grutsnick your second attack would have dropped the boggard thus why you didn't move last round.
Please post your Round 3 actions.

Grutsnick laughs maniacally as his axe invokes his nickname, moving over to the boggard attacking Reggie in order to show it how it's companion fared.
Move 50' to L12 (seriously Lorelei that Haste was the prefect spell at the perfect time!) and attack once.
Greataxe Power Attack Raging Reckless Abandon Hasted +15

Unable to slip out of range of retaliation in the thick swamp muck, Barker simply continued to fire Alexina in the boggard's face, trusting to luck that it wouldn't be able to hit him.

round 3 hasted attack extra: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
round 3 damage extra: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

DM Jonasty |

The boggard will take it's AoO against Barker as it sways on it's feet, it's life blood oozing out. After that Barker ratchets back the string and sends two bolts flying towards the final boggard both of them punching through the creature's throat and face, dropping it into the water.
Didn't think I'd have any more rolls to make but the order of things will dictate it. Sequence: Reg, Fin, and Grut will bring B4 down to 4HP, Barker will fire xbow provoking AoO but then B1 drops from being shot and already being staggered. With his next 2 shots of the full attack, Barker will then spin to shoot B4, dropping it before it can attack. Consequently Lorelei you won't need to expend your spell for the acid darts.

Grutsnick |

"Hah!" *huff* *huff* "That was bracing!"
After taking a few moments to catch his breath, Grutsnick will check over his injuries before turning to the others.
Should be 50/84 for my HP now right?
"Any idea what they were protecting? Or were they just hunting?"
Knowledge: Nature and Survival to see if they were hunting or just mean. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Finnian Surotova |

Finnian recovers from his momentary startlement with some embarassment. Flicking the blood from his sword with a quick motion he begins to sheathe it, but then decides it would be best to keep it at hand for the nonce.
Nasty creatures, who would have thought that such a horridly loud noise could come from something like that?

Lorelei |

"Bracing?" Shaking her head with a sigh, Lorelei looks around. "How about we keep going on and try to find some dry land to walk on for a bit. My legs are worn out from slogging through all this swamp muck."

Barker Valdane |

Looking fairly battered, Barker patted Alexina and wiped a smear of blood on his hands onto his pants. "If any of you are closet clerics, I'm feeling a bit religious right now," he quipped. He limped over to examine the fallen boggards. "Let's see what these bastards have on 'em. May give us a clue," he grunted.
Also a check to see what he can learn about the boggards' motives. Know: nature 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

DM Jonasty |

Gathering the bodies together you take a quick inventory and find not much of real use. Between them all you find 4 sets of Leather armor, 4 morningstars, odd bits of junk the creatures collected and a combined total of 24gp.
Scanning the area and the overall encounter that just occured, Barker and Grutsnick are fairly certain that the ruined city would make an excellent home for aquatic swamp dwelling creatures like the boggards. Grutsnick mentions that he is fairly certain he's seen these kind of tactics in other primitive lands he's been to and that these are probably perimeter hunters who watch for both prey and intruders into a village's realms.
Lorelei shakes her head as the group moves on, dry land nowhere in site ahead of them. After an hour of further travel you begin to find yourself amongst some of the outlying ruins, some seemingly sturdy enough to provide shelter while others look ready to completely collapse and let the swamp retake them.
Despite Lorelei's hopes, there so far doesn't seem to be any dry land anywhere near you. The sinkhole is well and truly flooded. Given the layout of some of the buildings you are seeing on the outskirts, some of you are pretty sure that they could be fortified to provide a little bit of shelter if you end up out here overnight or need to recuperate if things take a turn for the worse.
While the sun is still up, due to the nature of the sinkhole and it's walls, the whole area is already seeing diminished sunlight. You've got about an hour of light left, followed by 2-3 hours of dim light(standard effects, no penalty to those with low-light vision, etc) and then full darkness. What does everyone want to do given that information?

Lorelei |

Knowledge Local 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
"Well, shall we pick one of those studier buildings to hole up in for the night? I'd rather not be out here in the dark, slogging around still and meet up with another Boggard patrol."

Barker Valdane |

Tired from slogging through the swamp in his wounded condition, Barker was quick to agree with Lorelei about camping. With a grateful tip of his hat to Alexander for the healing, he set about looking for a good spot to settle in for the night - somewhere it wouldn't immediately be apparent to the locals that they'd bedded down.
Knowledge local: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Durr, dis place don't look familiar...
Survival to find a decent place to camp: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25+2 if this counts as jungle terrain
Picking a likely-looking spot, he helped Grutsnick set up camp.

DM Jonasty |

Barker and Grutsnick keep the party moving for another 30 minutes before they both agree on a particularly suitable site. Moving into the structure it is impossible to tell what it was used for originally, so old are the markings and stones. The water is thigh high as it is everywhere else but there seem to be shelves built into the walls, maybe for a long ago shop or merchant that remain above water level and will allow for a modicum of comfort during the night.
Barricading the door after the group is in, people settle on the shelves, trying to stay warm without a fire to light the evening. Except for Grutsnick the night is dark and forboding, sounds of movement and life coming from without the building. Its hard to sleep but the night does eventually pass and a new day dawns to everyone waking bleary-eyed in the ruined structure.
PC percentiles, 5 or less is bad:
Grutsnick: 1d100 ⇒ 66
Lorelei: 1d100 ⇒ 63
Finnian: 1d100 ⇒ 70
Barker: 1d100 ⇒ 34
Reginald: 1d100 ⇒ 7
Alexander: 1d100 ⇒ 53

DM Jonasty |

HP 72/84 by my count yeah?
Beat me to my edit. I'm gonna assume that Alexander will use his healing bursts to get the party to full which would then replenish after the night rest. Please just make sure that all of you who used ammo last encounter note down the expenditure on your character sheet.

Finnian Surotova |

I agree with Gutsnick, Lorelei, you turned what might have been a severe mobility disadvantage into an even field. Do not downplay your own contribution.

Lorelei |

"You guys really know how to flatter a girl. Seriously though, I'm in agreement with taking out some scouts, before we hit the nest. Taking them out will also clear us an escape route out in case we have to leave in a hurry."

DM Jonasty |

Rather than heading straight towards the heart of the ruins, you start to veer to the right, looking to scout the perimeter of the area. Eyes alert for more boggard patrols you travel for some time. The scenery is much unchanged, thigh high water everywhere and small copses of trees rising above it. The ruins in this area seem very similar, none more than 1 story tall most with roofs collapsed and being taken over by the swamp.
It's approaching noon when you come to a set of ruins that seem to be in better shape than the others, larger too. There is a large opening in one wall and there are no doors across the 15 foot entryway. What catches your eye about this set of ruins is the scrawled lettering that is carved into one side of the wall. It's rather new, at least in comparison to the age of the structure, and in a language none of you recognize.
Barker, Stealth will be the skill to use. However, when making a Stealth check you can gain a +2 bonus to it with a successful Survival check DC 10 to "aid yourself" by using the local fauna and such.

Alexander Do'Rafien |

Alexander gathers the group over quickly and says I have a spell that will allow us all to walk on water should we need to. It will only last 2 hours thoughusing metamagic rod of extend so should we need to use it, it is available.
Updated spell list for today:
3 (3+1/day) Summon Monster III, Water Walk (DC 18), Displacement (DC 18), Dispel Magic
2 (4+1/day) Restoration, Lesser (DC 17), Resist Energy (DC 17), Bull's Strength (DC 17), Align Weapon (DC 17), Weapon of Awe (DC 17)
1 (5+1/day) Protection from Evil (DC 16), Comprehend Languages (DC 16), Magic Weapon (DC 16), Bless, Confusion, Lesser (DC 16), Sanctuary (DC 16)
0 (at will) Read Magic (DC 15), Detect Magic, Create Water, Purify Food and Drink (DC 15)

Lorelei |

Lorelei nods in agreement with Grutsnick. "Some dry land would be nice. I've spent more time in the water lately than a mermaid.
"Though I do wonder if the writing was meant to indicate that a powerful and important Boggard lives here or if it is meant as a warning that something they call a Jorbuk makes his home here."

DM Jonasty |

Barker taking the lead, the group slowly moves into the shadowed structure. While most of the ceiling is gone, the walls are high enough to block some of the light. The large chamber looks rather empty although there appear to be 2 alcoves, one on either wall that are hard to see from the entry.
Hugging the right wall, Barker gets to the corner and peers around. There's nothing out of the ordinary, it appears to be an empty alcove. As you go to continue around the room, some of you suddenly feel a pressure wave within the water coming from the center of the room. Suddenly a Large creature explodes from the center of the room sending a blast of water into the air. When the splash clears and the mist in the air settles a hideous creature stands before Barker and Grutsnick. Two large pincers clack together menacingly but what's even more horrific is the mass of writhing tentacles where the mouth should be. Nested within is a large sharp beak like one would see on a squid.
The tentacles writhe and you are all horrified to hear a sibiliant voice escape the mass. I sssee the boggardsss have provided me with a ssspirited meal today.
Jorbuk Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Perception checks (Regardless of if you see Jorbuk, if your character at least hits a DC 10 with the Perception they at least can tell that the center of the room (dark blue squares) is much deeper than the rest of the floor, i.e. Swim checks deep. If you don't hit the 10, then your character thinks it's simply the same depth of water as the rest of the room, thigh deep as outside.)

"Looks like you guessed right, Lorelei." Barker let out an earsplitting roar, lifting Alexina towards the monster.
I can't recall if you can take a 5' step along with a standard action in a surprise round? It is a free action... If you can, Barker will move one square north before casting Hunter's Howl.
