I have a spell that I can use to silence an area but should they move out of the area they will be free to scream for help. I can lay it down when the attack commences if you like.

Boggard Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

So based on my understanding, everyone is walking on water right now. Lorelei is attempting to move to within 15 to cast Color Spray. Grutsnick is sneaking closer to gank them and Barker is moving closer to get a better shot. Everyone else it sounds like is staying 60 feet back and waiting to see what happens. Based on their Perception roll, everyone gets close enough to do what they want, so Surprise round, Lorelei casts Color Spray, Grutsnick charges, and Barker shoots. Please make your relevant attack rolls and I will have the combat round updated officially after that.

Based on positions, which I know you don't have yet sorry, but you will only be able to catch 2 of the 3 boggards in the spray.

Boggard 1 Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Boggard 2 Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Pooh, they both made the save. :(

Oh s*%#, that didn't work. Burning hands on those two if she can catch them in the cone without getting Grutsnick as well. If not she'll settle for getting at least one.

Burning Hands (also a 15ft cone) Damage 5d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 1, 4) = 11
Reflex for half, DC 16

Everyone can post their surprise round actions, after which we'll be on Initiative.

Grutsnick: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

No worries, I figured that. Since you're able to move normally, if the Boggards attack you I'm assuming you will 5 foot step and then blast them so as not to provoke.

Round Surprise Init 3

Status:

HP = 84 + 12
AC = 17 (15 Reckless Abandon) (13 Charging)

Grutsnick charges Boggard 2.

Charge Boggard 2 while Raging, hit in face with axe.
Greataxe Power Attack Raging Reckless Abandon +16
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 361d12 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28

Crit confirm 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 282d12 + 37 ⇒ (12, 4) + 37 = 53
So assuming a 28 hits a flat-footed Boggard that's 81 total damage. Due to the Killer trait I do +3 on the crit damage, thus +37 instead of +34.

Grutsnick moves to the next available Boggard, smashing it with his axe.

Looking at the carnage Grutsnick causes with his first attack, Alexander uses his surprise round to move forward 20' to J13

Alexander shakes his head and smiles at the chaos the big half-orc engenders. Moving forward he waits to see where he is needed. Hold action until he sees anything that looks like it could actually pose a threat to the group.

One of the boggards drops in a spray of blood to Grutsnick's axe. The other, lashes out at Finnian before Grutsnick barrels into it. The last remaining boggard turns and hammers at a massive stone lever protruding from the wall. With a loud bang the lever slams down and suddenly the cage door begins grinding down below the water.

B3 attack again Finnian: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20, Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
B1 full round action to activate the lever.

Sorry for the delay, snow-tober in Boston plus Halloween caused some delays. Waiting for Barker, Reginald and Alexander to post their Round 1 actions and then I'll update accordingly.

Alexander moves forward and attempts to warp the boggards mind who is activating the lever. Move to I11, cast Lesser Confusion on the Boggard. DC 16 will save to negate.

Alexander Do'Rafien wrote:

Boggard will go before you in the Init order so the lever will be activated regardless. Just giving a heads up, you can still cast the spell if you'd like.

I guess you missed my post in the OOC thread that I'd be gone? If I can still get a surprise shot, I'll try to take out the one by the portcullis. If it's too late, I'll try it in round 1.

Forgot saves for boggards for Lorelei's and Alexander's spells.

B1 Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
B3 Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Grutsnick leaps at the first boggard, spittle flying in the air as his axe cleaves the creature right in half. Viscera spills into the water as the body splits along the middle to collapse into the swamp. Looking around, he runs at the next closest creature, his axe falling into the boggard that Finnian only moments before had pierced deeply with his blade.

Barker sends a wave of bolts flying into the boggard near the lever, pincushioning the creature. Lorelei, her first spell seemingly ineffective against the toad-like things instead unleashes a blast of fire, the smell of charred meat filling the air.

Alexander quietly moves forward, his hands moving in a spell and with a word the two remaining boggards look pole-axed, their eyes glazed and distant.

Yowza. So since Finnian dropped the last two boggards, Barker and Reginald if you want to delay/ready an action, I will post H's turn shortly.

As the last boggard drops, you all suddenly sway violently as a pressure wave of water comes rushing out of the gate entrance. The source of this becomes clear as a Huge creature comes roaring out of the ruined structure.

It lands solidly in front of Finnian and Grutsnick, it's 6 heads lashing out at the two of them, teath biting and tearing at flesh.

Knowledge Arcana DC 10:
This multi-headed monster is a hydra. They are generally solitary swamp dwellers. This result gives all the magical beast traits.

Knowledge Arcana DC 15:
You know that hydras are extremely resilient to damage and that the fastest way to kill them is to remove all it's heads. However heads chopped off will regrow two new separate heads quickly after.

Knowledge Arcana DC 20:
Fire and acid damage will cause new heads not to regrow.

Hydra will charge and Pounce at Grutsnick and Finnian.

Is this flavor text or an actual attempt? Actual mechanics to do this is a Sunder attempt against a head rather than a normal attack. And doing this without the feat will provoke. Let me know.

Huh, I was not aware of the changed mechanic. I'll switch my attacks to Sunder attempts. It looks like a Sunder replaces a regular attack, so that would mean my 28 and 14 become a 25 and 17 (CMB is +11 which I assume replaces the +14 and +9?) for 18 and 22 damage respectively?

Knowledge:arcana 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

"How in the hells did they tame this thing?" Barker wondered, not a little enviously. He too stepped back, training Alexina on the monster. He pelted it with bolts to distract it from Grutsnick and Finnian.

You're post seems correct, sub the CMB numbers for your normal attack bonus but the damage would be the same. Also the Sunder Attempts will provoke as you don't have the feat, but somehow I'm guessing you're fine with that. ;-)

Finnian deftly skewers the remaining two boggards yet the victory seems short lived as suddenly on a swell of water a large multiheaded beast roars out of the building.

Teeth nashing, the hydra is unable to land a blow on Finnian but Grutsnick isn't as nimble and he is chomped on mercilessly. Barker looks to distract the beast from the half-orc, his bolts sizzling and charring the creatures skin where they penetrate.

Lorelei sends a shot of acid flying at the creature while Alexander brushes his hand against the beast causing some of it's heads to writhe uncontrollably.

Grutsnick watches in facination as some of the holes made by Barker's bolts seem to close themselves up in front of his eyes. Shrugging he swings his axe, managing to sever one of the heads swinging by in front of him.

Barker and Finnian rain a savage series of blows on the creature, sword hacking and bolts piercing and with a roar it collapses into the fetid waters.
