If I know where We are I share that info with Gorbaz.
Tadanu also begins searching the beach for any items that may be useful.

"Hmm could definitely be worse. Well looks like we may be the only survivors Gorbaz. Let's take a quick search and see what we can find. Then I suggest we find or make a shelter before nightfall."

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

Washed up on the beach around the bodies are a small chest, enough wooden planking to lay a line approximately 45 ft. long, and most of a large canvas sheet with a length of hempen rope trailing from it into the waves.
Tadanu: You're fairly certain that you're on Smuggler's Shiv. It's well-known in the area for its treacherous waters and its almost unnatural tendency toward causing shipwrecks. Attempts have been made to colonize it, but have failed.
Current time can be estimated at roughly 3 in the afternoon. The midday heat has died down a bit, but there are heavy-looking clouds beginning to build overhead.

Gorbaz |

"The shiv, can't recall ever hearing about it, sounds like a nasty place though."
Gorbaz will begin gathering planking, as well as the axes, long spear, and javelins. Looking up at the sky, he laughs.
"Looks like this Shiv of yours is about to try and drown us, and I'm sick of things doing that. If Torag gave me wings, i'd fly up there and beat those clouds with me hammer."
"So, spied any nice cozzy places for us to make camp?"

Tadanu Esgalion |

Well at least we have found some stuff to build a shelter.
"Well it looks like that is all there is to find right now. I suggest we get a shelter built then we can have a quick look around."
Tadanu looks for an area that is up of the beach but not in the jungle where it would be suitable for a shelter.
Survival (take 10) = 17 for locating a location
"I suggest we use the planks to build a raised platform to get us up off the ground then a framework for the roof using the canvas and some of the palm fronds to keep the rain off of us and all secured with the length of rope." Tadanu does not wait for a response and starts to build the shelter assuming the Gorbaz will help.
Survival Take 10 = 17 for building shelter
Once the shelter is built he will gather the items they found and store them in the chest. Assuming the chest is empty and unlocked of course Tadanu will also examine the bow and see if he can find any arrows for it. Composite bow can I tell the strength from it?
Assuming it takes a couple hours of work to complete Tadanu settles on the edge of the shelter. "Excellent work friend Dwarf that should keep the rain and sun off of us. What should we do now? Settle in or should we take a look around?"
Survival 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 to determine what the weather is looking like.

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

A little bit of searching finds a good spot just at the edge of the tree line that would be good for a camp. An hour's work gets the framework up. Shortly after that, the heavens open up, and the rain begins to come down in earnest. It rains for two hours while work on the campsite continues, then the rain peters and the clouds fade just in time for the sun to touch the horizon. The campsite is completed not long after the sun finally disappears and it gets dark.

The hard work seems to suit the dwarf and he makes good use of the hammer. As he works, he sings some ancient dwarven mining song.

Tadanu Esgalion |

Coiling up the remaining length of rope that was unused Tadanu looks absently around his surroundings.
Not much to tell really. I was born in the jungles of the Mwanji expanse. I was raised in the community of my ancestors. I learned the ways of the forest from my father and his kin. Eventually I decided it was time to see the world for myself so I have spent the last 10 years or so travelling the jungles leading foolhardy adventurers and scholars. Mostly I keep them from getting killed by the jungle itself. I ended up here because I was traveling to Elden to meet a group heading out to the jungles."
He casually drops the coil of rope near the shelter. You can clearly tell he is not really comfortable discussing his past. Wiping his hands he rests easily on the edge of the shelter. What about yourself?
After his answer Tadanu stands up and looks around at the surroundings. "Well I guess we should think about keeping guard for the night. I can take second watch if you can handle the first half? I think we should not have a fire tonight until we have had a chance to look around. Never know what lurks in the dark.
Tadanu looks at Gorbaz waiting for a reply.

Gorbaz |

"First ProudHammer in 3 generations to raise his hammer solely in Torag's name. Best smiths around, if ya need a new blade, or some new armor. Never did quite grasp the knack, but hammers, now there was soemthing I was good with. Not as good as some mind ya, but decent enough to get some extra training. Always felt like someone was watching when I lifted me warhammer, like I had an ally I just couldn't see. The elders could see it though, and I soon learned I was called by Torag, who in his infinite wisdom, has seen something in me worth forging. I was heading to the other dwarven cities to renew old ties, when that damn floating log tried to drown me."[/b]
Standing and stretching, Torag moves to the front of the shelter, and sits crosslegged, warhammer across his lap.
"Aye, a watch is smart, no telling what foul beasties are about this night. I'll wake ya for a shift halfway through."

Tadanu Esgalion |

With that Tadanu settles in to the shelter to rest although like all his ilk he appears to be more meditating then he does sleeping. After about four hours he opens his eyes and goes to relieve Gorbaz. He also takes a quick look outside trying to see if he can see any signs of light from fires etc anywhere else on the island.

Close to midnight, Tadanu wakes and replaces Gorbaz at watch. The jungle noises continue for about an hour, but then grow oddly silent. As they do so, the sound of immense wings flapping overhead reaches Tadanu, headed East. A short while later, after the sound of wings has disappeared, the jungle noises start up again. Nothing more interesting happens during the remainder of Tadanu's watch.

Tadanu greets Gorbaz with an offering of rations for breakfast.Hungry? How did you sleep? During my watch something very large flew over the shelter. I think until we have a better idea of where we are and what's around that we keep a very low profile at night. That said, we need to take a look around today. I think we should follow the beach and see if we can find any signs of others living on this island.

Gorbaz |

Rising and yawning louder that an angry bear, Gorbaz takes the offered rations, with a nod. He's quiet until he finishes, then steps out into the sunlight.
"No ProudHammer is afraid of any stupid bird, large or small, but those eerie lights in the water last night are unnatural."
Looking up and down the beach, Gorbaz scratches his ebard.
"Any recomendations on a direction elf, your the one born in a jungle."
Gorbaz will follow Tadanu, trusting in the elf's jungle experience to lead them for now

"From his writings, I gather he became quite infatuated with our fellow passenger, Iena. Perhaps to the point of obsession. I believe this is why we find ourselves in our current dilema, and perhaps why the first mate met his end. Please see apr. 7 spoiler for journal text.

Just to check. Are you leaving all the campsite and gear you found where it stands?
As Tadanu scours the edges of the jungle in the pre-dawn chill, he finds evidence of animals but no particular trails. Following the edge of the jungle along the rock face, though, the grounds slops up until it meets the top of the cliff. There's just enough open space between the edge of the jungle and the edge of the cliff for an Elf and a Dwarf to walk single-file. The cliff edge is perhaps 100 ft. above the beach. As the pair treks through the jungle, Tadanu keeps his eyes open for anything that might be particularly dangerous or particularly useful. The plants in the immediate area all seem fairly typical for the terrain, nothing of any specific interest. In the edge of the jungle, evidence is present of many different animal species. Monkeys and other apes can be heard screeching, and the occasional tree has a snake in the branches or a hive of insects. Evidence of smaller mammal life occasionally shows up, such as rats and other rodents. About two hours after waking and leaving the beach, the sun begins to come up in the direction you're heading.
You've traveled about 2 miles so far.

I gave the scroll case and scrolls to Gorbaz as I have no idea what they say. As well, I give the two phials to him to see if he can Id them. I grabbed the rations, hammer, crowbar, longspear and Javelins and the rope (I assume we used about 25' to build shelter take the other 50'). I currently have a med load and would drop my pack at the first sign of trouble.
Tadanu takes a short rest leaning against a tree he takes a swig of water from his wineskin. Looking towards Gorbaz Take a rest and have a drink. It is going to get very hot and humid and if you are unused to it you can become sick very easily. Taking another drink I think we should keep heading east for now. We will probably have to either turn back around noon if we do not find anything as I do not wish to be caught out here in the dark. That said Tadanu stows his wineskin and pulls out one of his handaxes to clear the brush as he goes and continues to the east watching for anything of intrest and still examining the plant and animal life.

I think we are leaving the basic shelter, but taking our gear, rope, and the weapons. New spells, swapped out 2 0 lvl for read magic and detect magic.
Gorbaz thanks the elf for the water, drinking deeply. Wiping his beard he glares up at the sun. "Hotter than Torag's forge"
Noticing all the gear tadanu has been carying, "Elf, let me take some of that load, you've managed so far, but your no dwarf, and we're used to carrying the mountain on our backs"

Sitting cross-legged with the journal in his lap, Aerys continues to flip through the pages. "Strangely, it seems the captain was somewhat meticulous in his record-keeping until this voyage. His rapid descent into obsession strikes me as oddly out of character. Part of me questions Iena's role in this." Aerys scowls deeply as he studies a page. "Although, in addition to his other crimes, the captain must pay for this poetry!"

Asasha |

Well, let me see. Oh yes, lovely. Lembas bread. And look! More lembas bread.
"Well much as that sounds like a feast indeed, I find that the taste of something that moves is more to my.... umm. taste... If you'll excuse me?"
With that Asasha gathers some fishing line and heads towards the rocks where she attempts to get something to eat.
