The Critical Fumble Deck. It's the counterpart of the Critical Hit Deck, which offers potential alternative options for critical hits. Just a little something to spice things up. There are a few sample cards on the page for it.
After another round of dancing, the creature is finally skewered by Kieran. As you all take a minute to catch your breath after the combat, you feel the nausea slowly ebbing, and finally your stomachs settle. Nobody is sickened anymore.

Kieran The Myopic |

Takes 10 for perception = 9
It is obvious from our surroundings that we are on dry ground. Question; Where are we? How did it happen? Why are we not dead? Where are the rest of the crew, and the captain? Is the ship repairable?
*points to the Jenivere nearby*
Kieran says this as almost as speaking to himself.

Asasha |

Wiping her hair back from her eyes Asasha glances quickly around the beach. "Gods know what happened," she says "but we'd best see if these others were as lucky as us." with that she moves quickly to each of the figures lying in the sand, checking for any obvious signs of life. She glances up - "Any of you know anything about medicine?"
Heal: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11 (untrained)

Aerys Trajyon |

Aerys nods his thanks to his companions for slaying the last of the scorpion-things. Nyx is far less gracious, glaring about as only a wet and outraged ferret can. Finally he leaps from his master's shoulder to wander the beach, returning at intervals dragging clumps of seaweed, what might have once been a seagull's wing, and other bits of flotsam he finds interesting.
Aerys moves to help with the other passengers. Glancing over at the wreckage of the Jennivere, he notes drily. "I doubt this is how the captain typically disembarks his passengers. It would seem the crew went to great lengths to drag us here after whatever occured last night, but then why not stay until we had awoken?"

Kieran The Myopic |

Heh, heh. Enjoying the small joke, Kieran proceeds on awaking the rest of the passengers. He finds one of the gnomes extremely hard to arouse.
It is already midday, judging by the sun. Anyone remembers what happened before? I must have dozed off at the dinner table. We should be gathering what supplies we can salvage and seek shelter soon. We're going to be here awhile.
Jlighter, how long do you wait before declaring somebody dropping out?

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

As you try to rouse your fellow passengers, they come to one-by-one. After a few moments of wooziness, they all manage to sit up and become functional. The only exception to this is the one Gnome who has proven exceedingly hard to wake, and he slowly begins to fade away as another form fades into his place.
This early in the game, I think we can probably say that Zarzuket has dropped out. If he comes back we'll revive him or find another mechanism to bring him back. Otherwise, the call is out for Xane, who was our alternate. If we get no response on either front, the extra Gnome can be bonus loot.
Heal check: the only thing wrong with them is the same illness that afflicted the rest of you when you woke up.

Asasha |

Making way for Kieren next to the remaining bodies Asasha peers up and down the lonely beach, looking for any signs of other survivors. "What makes you think we were dragged? I'd say the tide's just washed us up. In any case, we need to see if there are any other survivors further down the beach, we need fire before sunset and frankly I could do with some food. I'm happy to try to get closer to the Jenivere and see about survivors and possible salvage. Might be able to get a good view from the cliff there. Anyone want to come?"

Kieran The Myopic |

As I said, we might be here awhile. We'd have to make a list of priority things to settle before sunset. Asasha, I would like to come, but it may be dark when we return. I'd say we get a shelter up and running before exploring further. We'd also need to find where we're at.
Survival: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 1 = 21 compass,mapmaking kit

Kias |

I will scout around the area. I want to make sure we are not surprised by anything. Kias makes his way towards the jungle.
survival:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Kias will spend a half an hour checking the general area for trails or any signs of possible danger. If he finds anything of interest or nothing of interest, he will return to the group.

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

Yup. That's the OOC thread.

Jack, Chain Devil of the South |

jack lie out cold on the ruined jenneviere where the ship's tavern once lied. for quite a while, he was out cold and suddenly awakens due to his hangover, as he awakens and notices the disrepair of the vessel, he thinks to himself blimey, i'll never get my bloody 500 pounds now . he gathers his equipment and attempts to search the back counter for any portable salvageable alchoholic beverages. his stomach rumbles with hunger. to think that beforehand, he was promised 500 chelexian pounds to guard the ship's crew and maintain security. i could so use a bloody whore right now he thinks to himself. the last he remembers is passing out drunk off duty.
perception, take 20, 22 total
if there is no tavern on the ship, than Jack will be in the rum closet instead. or wherever they store thier rum.
"pounds" is Jack's word for gold pieces. the 500 pounds is another way of saying 500 gold pieces.

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

My apologies to ruin your wonderful opening idea of waking up in the rum closet, but would it be possible to adjust it to waking up on the beach with the others? If not, we can adjust it so that the others find you on the remains of the ship. And the money is easy. I'm guessing the equivalents for money would be pence, shillings, pounds, and sovereigns/crowns for copper, silver, gold, and platinum?

i like these quoted ideas. during thier search, we can say they found Jack in the remains of the ship's rum closet. my searching leaves no room for stealth.
edit; i accidentally shorted myself 35 gold pieces, i assumed 140 instead of 175. i forgot that fighters were 5d6, not 4. so i used that difference to give myself a little bit of extra gear.
i also assume that since a meteor hammer is a chain based weapon, and long enough to have 10 foot reach as a double weapon, that Jack can wear it wrapped over his clothing in a fashion similar to a chain devil.

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

Jack: Okay. You shall be found in the ship, then. We'll improvise that part. And I agree regarding the Meteor Hammer being one of the special Reach weapons. I have the source book it's in, and the mechanics of it as described sound the same as the other special Reach weapons that can strike close. And yes, Jack can wear it wrapped around himself. Thanks for checking that.
As Kieran begins to assemble the beginnings of a rough jungle shelter, Sasha Nevah comes over and begins helping him out.
At the far end of the beach, a potential snag in your journey crops up. The Jenivere is not quite reachable from the beach. The stern of the ship is the only section that seems to be particularly intact. It's wedged between a rock and the cliff face, and it clearly wouldn't last long at sea. The waves are steadily pounding at the ship, and it's probable that it won't stay wedged for long. The tide is just starting to come in, so there's a bit of path over the wet rocks, leading to a ledge just overhanging the ship's upper deck.
Acrobatics DC 9 to traverse the path, please, not forgetting Armor or Encumbrance Penalties.

Asasha |

Hmmm,.." says Asasha glancing at the difficult approach to the boat. "this should be no problem for me, don't know about you guys though? Tell you what, I'll take a rope over if anyone's got one?"
With that she carefully pulls off her armour and stacks it in a small pile on the beach.
"Maybe you should wait here?"
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
With that she starts to nimbly make her way towards the boat, dragging the rope behind her. (assuming someone's got a rope)

Aerys Trajyon |

Ironically, i noticed last time that we didn't have any rope, and STILL managed to not get any when we re-started :)
Aerys shrugs sheepishly. "As usual, I have failed to bring things of practical use, such as rope. Or my wits."
He shrugs off his backpack and places it on a dry rock to ease his jump, keeping his spear in one hand. Backing up a few steps he runs and makes his leap.
Acrobatics:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
I think i actually stuck the landing, as well :)
Nyx seems to give one of his rare nods of of approval as his master lands nimbly on the deck. Aerys then kneels down to offer a hand to help Kias up.

Asasha |

Waiting on the result of Kias' fail but, once we're all aboard we need to get certain supplies. My suggestions: Rope! Carpenters tools from the ship's workshop, food, cooking eqipment (from the galley), water (which may be difficult if its stroed in large barrels), fishing gear, canvas (for shelter), the ship's log (to see if we can work out what happened, the ship's maps and navigation equipment (sextant, spyglass, etc.), any survivors, and booze (i need a drink!)

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

Apologies for the tardiness.
You make your way to the ledge overlooking the ship, crossing 150 or so feet of wet rock. Along the way, you get some good glimpses of tide pool life from this region. Sea urchins, anenomes, and some smaller relatives of the sea-scorpions you fought on the beach seem to be the primary residents. Once you reach the ledge, it's a brief leap down to the angled deck. Asasha and Aerys both make the leap without much difficulty, but Kias slips on a piece of seaweed and clangs to the deck. He begins to slide toward the edge.
1d4 ⇒ 2 nonlethal damage, Kias.
Kias manages to grab onto a spar as he slides past, but the fall does leave a mark. As you all make your way to your feet, you hear a spate of cursing from below, and you see a very tall wall of muscle climbing up from a lower deck.
Cue Jack.
Jack, as you make your way up to the upper deck, three figures thump down to the deck. One slips and has to grab a passing spar to avoid sliding off the ship. They all get to their feet at the same time as you reach the deck.

Jack, Chain Devil of the South |

as jack reaches the upper deck, still with a hangover i could use a bloody drink right now, how 'bout you lot? want to help a bloody mercenary find his bloody rum? i know i'm not going to get my bloody 500 pounds right now, but at least i can take a reasonable amount of this bloody rum to drink my bloody sorrows away. [b] he looks and sees what appears to be 3 young lads and he says to them. [b] by the way, I be Jack. back in my days as a soldier, they called me the Chain Devil of the southern gate. a gruff voice could be heard in his speech. we are going to need all the bloody rum we can get.

Aerys Trajyon |

Aerys whirls at the sudden voice, a spell half-formed on his lips. Nyx, digging in claws to maintain his hold on his master's shoulder, arches his back with a fang-bearing hiss. At the stranger's greeting, Aerys dispels the welling energy with a shake of his head, grinning at his current high-strung state. He gives the newcomer a friendly nod.
"Good day, Jack. I'm Aerys, and..." His jaw clenches visibly at the outraged chittering from his shoulder. "And this is Nyx, who generally feels he should be introduced first. It seems we've all woken up hungover and confused this morning. But I'm envious that you can at least chalk it up to the ship's rum - we've had nothing more enjoyable than the cook's infamous soup. Have you seen any of the ship's crew on board?" Aerys gestures to the cantered deck. "I, for one, would like to compliment the captain on his docking skills..."

Asasha |

"Shall we go down and pay a visit to the ship's other occupant?" Aerys smiles brightly. "I take great comfort in knowing that whatever it is, it's at least small enough to fit within the Jenivere's hold."
"Sounds like a plan to me,.. although the only things doen there must've crawled up from below somewhere or have been there since before the wreck. Asasha pauses, Unless there's another way in from up here? Anyway, soonest faced soonest fixed,... Shall we?

TheMan BehindTheCurtain |

Once you get the marching order settled...
Traveling below the deck, the scrabbling noise intensifies. The slanting of the deck makes the going difficult, and the deck is slippery. The noise reaches a peak at the steps leading down to the level with the supply room.
