Aerys scowls at the sight of the creature. "Shall I wound it with a spell and draw it towards us? Kias and Jack can more easily finish it then.
Should the party agree, Aerys would cast magic missle:
Magic missle: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Should the party decide on another course of action, he would not cast - just throwing the damage roll in to save time if that's what we want to do.

The magical dart lances out and punches a small, neat hole in the creature's side. A bit of fluid begins to leak out, and the creature turns. It doesn't seem to spot you, but it walks slowly in the direction of the steps, brandishing its stinger.
It's now 30 feet away. The steps account for the nearest 5 feet of that distance. The entire ship is difficult terrain due to the awkward slant. It's taken 3 damage from the magic missile. Such is your surprise round. Make fresh Initiative rolls, please.

on jacks turn, he will draw his meteor hammer and apporach the creature from the 10 foot mark, if the creature is close enough, he will stay within it's reach and still attack it. he thrusts the weights from fortress mode towards the thing's chest. assuming it's within reach. as he attacks the creature, he will yell, I be the bloody chain devil of the bloody southern gate. no mortal man has survived my bloody fiendish strength. the powder of your bloody corpse shall season my bloody rum tonight.

if Jack manages to hit that creature, it may as well have been disintigrated into a bloody powder for 34 damage.

Kias moves forward, but the slant of the ship's deck makes it difficult for him to move against the weight of his armor. He travels five feet past the bottom of the steps.
The creature, now seeing a target who might have been responsible for the wound in its side, now moves forward to attack Kias, but misses cleanly. Stinger: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Jack, stepping down the stairs, unwinds his meteor hammer and shoots one end of it forward past Kias. It passes through what passes for the creature's face and buckles the remainder of its body outward. As the weight retreats to Jack's hand, it is covered in gooey innards.
Just a note. It only had 1hp left. It's kind of just pieces and smear now. :) Carry on with your explorations.

Aerys nods appreciatively at the ichor dripping from the walls and ceiling. "I did virtually the same thing to one of those creatures with my spear. Except, of course, for the actually causing it pain and killing it part." Stepping around the mess as well as possible, he crouches down to examine the fluid seeping from beneath the closed door.

Can i tell what it is?
Jack, Chain Devil of the South
Jack grumbles; Aye, let me help you with the bloody door.
Jack readies his meteor hammer and says, i'll loosen the bloody door's bloody connections to it's bloody hinges with the force of my bloody chain and as the bloody thing is rattling, you kick the bloody down. saavy?
Aid another (to help break down the door from 10 feet away)
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
add a +2 circumstance bonus to your next attempt to break the door
TheMan BehindTheCurtain
Jumping ahead, I think we can assume that you will eventually roll high enough to break the door.
After a prolonged period of thumping the door, the door bursts open with a large crack. Bruised shoulders and splinters are greeted by the sight of a body slumped against the wall. This seems to be the source of the blood that was dribbling under the door. A second glance reveals it to be the body of the first mate, Alton Devers.
Aerys Trajyon
Take a look at Alton Devers' wounds, and glance around the room he was in and the inside of the door - looking for bloody handprints to show he staggered in/locked himself in
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Gah! meekly steps aside so someone who actually is good at searching can have a try
His usual levity gone, Aerys frowns and says to Asasha, "My regrets at the passing of your crewmate."
TheMan BehindTheCurtain
Oh, good. :)
Also in the room, you find the following gear on various shelves:
- a block and tackle
- three large canvas sheets
- two fishing nets
- a grappling hook
- two bullseye lanterns
- twelve flasks of lantern oil
- 150 ft. of hemp rope
- five shovels
Asasha
"Well he wasn't the nicest man in the world but i'm still sorry to see 'im like this" says Asasha as she points out the puncture wounds on the man's neck. see spoiler above What the hells do you think did that? Ahh, well i hate to do it but like the man says "The dead don't want for nothin'" With that she begins to strip the first mate of his armour and other gear. Glancing up at the others she motions to the other supplies,... well what're ya waitin fer? The ship's breakin' up as we speak. Grab the stuff.
TheMan BehindTheCurtain
Asasha
As her companions grab the supplies Asasha quickly and efficiently strips the first mate's body, showing a complete lack of shame as she does so. I think we should pile the gear up on deck and see if we can't find one of the small-boats" she says, looking up from her task. After that maybe to the captain's cabin? - It'd be good to get the charts an' the ship's log.
TheMan BehindTheCurtain
The desk is, in fact, a Mimic waiting to strangle the first person to approach and to drag it into the pounding surf. :)
The desk seems to have tipped and fallen on its back when the ship rain aground. When the ship got wedged into its current position, everything in the room slid toward the gouged hole until the desk blocked it. It has two slim drawers near what must have been the top, and one deeper drawer on the lower part of the left side. Leaning up against the desk is a large-ish footlocker.
TheMan BehindTheCurtain
The footlocker contains a suit of leather armor, a very fine dagger, two phials with a pale blue liquid in them, what appears to be a symbol of Nethys, and a pouch with materials Aerys could identify as useful for casting. In the first of the slim drawers is a ring with several keys. The second has several rolls which appear to be charts and a logbook. The lower desk drawer is locked.
Hymenopterix
Asasha adds the items to the growing pile in the centre of the room before first checking the lower desk drawer for any type of trap (take 10) (you can never be too careful after all) and then trying the keys in it. If none of the keys fit she attempts to pick the lock (take 10).
Perception: 10 + 3 = 13
Disable Device: 10 + 8 = 18
TheMan BehindTheCurtain
The drawer proves to be merely locked, and one of the keys from the upper drawer makes short work of that problem. Inside are some rather unsurprising items: a bottle of brandy, a darkwood model of the Jenivere in a glass bottle, and a small chest that clinks with the sound of coins. There's also a long leather satchel filled with roughly a dozen phials. Four of them have the same pale blue colored liquid as the two from the footlocker. One is a slightly deeper blue, four are a pale, but soothing, green color, and there are one each in a dark yellow, translucent pink, and pale grey color.
Aerys Trajyon
"I agree - speed would be to our advantage. But let me cast a quick enchantment first to make sure we miss nothing of value.
Aerys casts Detect Magic, first scanning the pile of stuff found, then checking the desk. Although i guess it wouldn't show a mimic... :)
Asasha
Asasha adds the new findings (with the exception of the boat in a bottle - unless its magical) to the pile.
"I agree, but maybe it'd be worth looking at the carpenter's stores - There also might be other survivors. I think we need to make sure we don't leave anyone behind.
