DM Jelani's Council of Thieves (Inactive)

Game Master Brian Minhinnick

This is my take on CoT. It's centered around the concept that the PCs are normal Wiscrani who get transformed into heroes via becoming synthesist summoners.

What is this game?:I will be running the Council of Thieves, a Paizo published adventure path, with the twist that your characters will be a team of synthesist summoner “super heroes” gathered and formed specifically to take part in the events of the adventure. Your characters will start out as average Joes/Janes and then be given great power, and the responsibility that comes with it. There might eventually be a mythic rank or two in the mix as well, we’ll see.

Adventure Background (out of character info):
In 4606 AR, Aroden, god of humanity, innovation, and history, died. No city in all of Golarion was wracked more fundamentally by this catastrophic event than Westcrown. The capital of Cheliax—an entire country sworn to the god of humanity’s worship at the time—Westcrown was the expected site of Aroden’s return and had spent decades preparing for the event. A massive plaza known as the Arodennama, complete with a towering statue of the god, stood ready to receive the deity, yet after his death, it took only a few short years for the church of Aroden to fall. The Arodennama was abandoned, and the entire country found itself in the grips of a civil war with fierce diabolists.

The rise of the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune saw Westcrown’s further descent. After a brutal 30-year civil war, the diabolical House of Thrune seized control of Cheliax. One of their first acts as the nation’s new government was to move the capital and royal court north to the city of Egorian, emptying Westcrown of much of its affluence and prestige. Those nobles who remained behind were largely old families rooted in their traditions and their pride, content to rot in their declining home. While still a vibrant and important port, the splendor that had typified Westcrown for centuries swiftly waned, and without the noble court many commoners and merchants who had previously made a living pandering to the country’s elite were forced to move on, leaving whole blocks abandoned. Westcrown faded to a pale shadow of its former glory and became a playground for vultures eager to pick the royal carcass.

Even before Aroden’s death, the Council of Thieves had been an open secret in Westcrown. The city’s first (and most successful) thieves’ guild, the Council of Thieves was comprised of members from influential and often noble families in Westcrown. Subtle and content to rest upon the work of past generations, these rich and affluent criminals grew wealthier off of all manner of smuggling, gambling, prostitution, and more nefarious but increasingly white collar crimes. They’ve done nothing to stop the shadow creatures that have plagued the city every night for over three decades. Now, one hundred and three years after the death of Aroden, insurrection boils within the Council’s inner ranks, and if left to bloom, the resulting coup could engulf all of Westcrown. The city is already sagging under the weight of its own corruption, a war amongst the city’s factions might just push it over edge into total anarchy.

Character Creation Rules:

Level: 1
Abiltiy Scores: Focus/Foible, choose one stat to be an 18, and another to be an 8. Then roll 2d6+6 in order from top to bottom (str>dex>con>int>wis>cha) for your other stats. You may not rearrange them. No rerolls, synthesist will take care of any bad stats. Can't change what you're born with.
Races: Human, or any part human (half elf, half orc, aasimar, tiefling, ifrit, undine, sylph, oread, suli) No fetchling. Yes, you can take the alternate tieflign and aasimar types, but no to rolling on the chart without the feat.
Alignment: Any non-evil (good characters strongly preferred)
Classes: Any NPC class, you will gestalt with Synthesist Summoner before you hit level 2. From level 2 onward everyone will be a straight synthesist summoner. No other classes are allowed.
HP: Max at first, half+1 after that. Half+1 for all eidolon hit die. (ie. d8 gives you 5 (4+1))
Feats: No leadership
Traits: 2 (One campaign trait from the Player’s guide). You may take a drawback for a third trait. No infernal bastard trait, full tiefling is available.
Starting Gold: One free kit appropriate to your character’s profession, a set of clothes, a simple weapon (not a firearm) and 5d20 GP.
Firearms: Guns everywhere. Keep in mind that RAW, rapid reload does nothing for advanced firearms. That's how we'll be running it.

Create your character as a level 1 NPC, the summoner stuff will come shortly after the game starts.

What I am looking for in a player:
People who can commit to post ~1/day during the week (and hopefully on weekends) for the foreseeable future while we play through the AP. I prefer experienced PBPers, but I will consider people new to PBP if they show that they can follow instructions. Good, interesting writing is essential. PBP is a slooooow medium for gaming, the only thing that makes it fun is taking the time to write well, and really RP your character. You should also have a working knowledge of Golarion, its lore and history. Depending on interest, and the quality of submissions I will be taking 4-8 players. If during gameplay you fail to post regularly, your character will do nothing. If you disappear for a week+ with no explanation, I reserve the right to remove you from the game. Posting less often but having long detailed posts is acceptable, but it’s a fine line.

I should warn you that if at some point if several people drop, or posting becomes too sporadic (or skimpy) I will get bored and close the game. It’s happened to me several times in the past and I just want to be up front with it.

My GMing style:
I use Google Drive to put up maps for combat. I will roll initiative for everyone, then run combat in initiative blocks. The highest roller for the party and each type of monster will set that block's initiative count. Then player actions will occur in posting order. I will put the monster's essential stats in my profile, so you can resolve your own actions (AC, saves, CMD, AOOs etc.).

I try to follow the rules as written as closely as possible. If you make a mistake that I see, I will correct you. If I make a mistake, please correct me and point out a rules reference. I will gladly fix mistakes. As far as flavor text/fluff goes I usually follow the rule of cool. Tone wise, I go for gritty and mature. Killing monsters involves lots of blood and guts and mental trauma.

My other current games for reference:
My Worldwound Sandbox Game ~2,300 posts, doesn't include previous threads that have been abandoned/consolidated.

Carrion Crown ~2,500 posts

Colonization: Aspis Rising ~200 posts

What you need to apply:
You should create an alias for your character. It needs to have your complete mechanical crunch, a character background and a description of your character's appearance and personality. Bonus points for finding/drawing a reference picture. The more grounded your character is in Golarion the better. When Aroden walked the world disguised, he took on one of twelve guises: beggar, thief, fisherman, hunter, shepherd, farmer, soldier, merchant, tailor, craftsman, artist, and scholar. Your character should embody one of these archetypes. Please specify which when you submit. They are a normal person, who lives and earns their keep in Westcrown, your crunch should reflect this.

I also want a writing sample that demonstrates your PBP style a little, from your character’s prospective. It should be in third person narrative. Spoken language bolded, thoughts italicized.

Finally, give me a paragraph (or more) about your planned eidolon form. What’s your “super hero name” going to be (ie. The Gargoyle, The Sapphire Summoner, The Prismatic Pony, etc)? What will your eidolon look like? What “powers” are you going for? What's your forehead rune?

Example alias from one of my characters. Please use this format. You can copy+paste it from this link.

Recruitment will stay open until Tuesday November 5th, noon GMT+8 (that's midnight the 4th in EST). I will only leave recruitment open longer if there are not enough acceptable applications by that date. Late submissions won’t be considered. We will probably get started later that week.

If you've got questions, ask! Though if I already answered it somewhere I'll probably ignore you.

Certainly interested, but I can barely keep up with what's on my plate already, so I'll refrain. I will offer a ringing endorsement to the game for all other potential recruits, though!

Love the idea, new to the boards but a relatively experienced PBPer from previous stints here and on EnWorld - having quit due to work taking me to Uganda.

Let's see what I have to work with...

Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
Dex 8
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
Cha 18

One more ringing endorsement for Jelani's games. Let's see what I get here:

Str = 8
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
Con =18
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15

Dotting.

Do you really mean gestalt here, or will our NPC level essentially be retrained as a synthesist? If gestalt, will we always be gestalt, or just for a while at 1st level? To use an example, at 3rd level will someone who started as a Warrior 1 be:

(a) Warrior 3 | Summoner (synthesist) 3
(b) Warrior 1 | Summoner (synthesist) 3
(c) Summoner (synthesist) 3

Very very much up for this.

I'd love to play as a Quadruped synthesist with the Mount evolution; would anyone be interested in pairing up as my rider/partner?

A lancer could be fun, and being able to synchronise would be very cool. I was planning on going biped, and being a peri-blooded Aasimar - the flavour about wishing to do good while fallen angel blood calls you to evil works well in this context. I'm mulling over a career, maybe some sort of lawyer? I'll need to see if there is any information on trials, but there must be people arguing cases before someone, right?

Of course it would be a moot point at low levels, since we all have to be medium races. Enlarge person would make it temporarily usable though.

Sovereign Court

Dotting for interest :-)

@Broken Prince- Heh, I had actually forgotten the Medium Races part; but yes, Enlarge Person would make it workable.

If we're partnering up and you're an Aasimar, how about I be a tiefling? Much rich narrative to be touched there, certainly.

Sovereign Court

Str: 8
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10

Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
Cha: 18

Works for me, how about both being bastards of the same noble? Generally speaking the Chelaxian nobility would have far more contact with outsiders. My understanding is that Tieflings are discriminated against, which could provide an interesting contrast.

Hmm... couple idea's honestly.

I'm going to do a little research on the campaign setting... got an idea...

Tieflings are both discriminated against and more common than normal in Cheliax.

I will be putting together a synthesist FAQ soon as I get the chance.

One big thing to keep in mind is you use your eidolon's con to determine your THP, also you need hands or another appendage capable of holding something to cast spells while fused.

Are there any big changes to the setting that you're homebrewing? I've got plenty of PbP experience but never had the chance to play a council of thieves games so it doesn't make much difference to me, but if there aren't 'll be referring to the book for some setting details. XD

How rare are Aasimar in the city?

Is there a limit to the length of the part where we write from the characters perspective? Limit to the length of the background?

What sort of creatures might a guard encounter at night that could inflict such a grievous injury? (again, I know the very basics of the AP at best XD.)

Do you have anything against siblings or the like for NPC's, specifically one the character may have to take care of?

And lastly... hmm... am I allowed to refluff some of the evolutions a little? Like, instead of claws on by characters or hands legs when he gets the evolution, he has serrated greaves or gauntlets? Mechanically changing nothing of course.

Jelani, you recruited for another similar game for synthesists, one I applied for; is that still going? Has your party learnt anything from an all-synthesist part that we should know about?

@Broken Prince- How Tieflings work in Cheliax is that they have more contact with devils (or demons, I always get that confused) so there are more tieflings. However, because devils are seen as things to be controlled by humans and the Chelish, being a tiefling is seen as a sign of failure, of shame, thus they're discriminated against much more.

We don't need to be bastards, Tiefling/Aasimar can arise just from being touched by outsiders centuries ago in the bloodline, like sorcerers. How'd you feel about being brother and sister? Currently had an idea for a female tiefling expert fitting into the Artist persona; but as a graffiti artist, which in a repressive totalitarian regime could be quite fun.

Writing Sample of Joshua:

He was once a proud soldier of the city. He knew for some soldiers that was a hard claim, but it had never been so for him. Maybe he had never risen to a high enough pay-grade to get the tough choices? Maybe he was only fooling himself? Well, even if he was, he did good as a guard. He saved lives, stopped crime, and upheld the law as best he could. He had been proud to be a guard... until that night...

The man blinks awake, surprised to feel the wetness of a raindrop staining his cheek. He blinks and looks up into the sky and sees that it is dark with clouds. Even as his eyes gazed up into those dark clouds, more rain began to fall. He raised an arm quickly to protect his eyes and reached for the can that held the coins he had earned for the day. The rain pattered of the change within, but he protected it with his body, refusing to let the rain cause him to lose any.

Joshua had once been proud to be a guard for Westcrown, but now he was little more then a beggar. He stood and ran down the road at a hurry, one of several people clearing the streets. He ran not because he didn't want to get wet or couldn't afford to be sick, though those were good reasons, but because the creatures that came at night sometimes came in storms too. Not always, but... sometimes.

His shoes, worn and ragged, slapped against the wet pavement as he finally turned into his district. It wasn't the poorest of districts, but it was close enough that Joshua was careful as he scrambled down the road. By the time he reached his home, a small two story building near the end of the main road into the district, he was soaking. But he hadn't lost a single coin. He is, unfortunately, forced to knock on the door with the hand holding the can. It rattles with coins as it does. He can hear the soft patter of footsteps, and then the door opens just a little. Nearly half a dozen different chains obstruct Joshua's view of whoever answered the door, but the small voice that spoke out was unmistakeable. "Joshua?"

"It's me brat." Joshua says in a gentle and kind tone totally at odds with his choice of words. A squeal loud enough to make a dog bark from the neighboring building comes from the other side of the door and it shuts. The clinking of metal heralds the undoing of the chains and locks Joshua had spent good money having installed, and the door suddenly springs open to reveal a half elf girl in her adolescence who looked maybe half that in age physically. She jumped at the man, causing Joshua to stumble with a chuckle as his arm wrapped around her to embrace her in reply. He was careful not to spill any of the coins in his can.

The young man looked into his little sisters eyes and chuckled. "I take it your happy to see me?" The girl frowned then, and let go of Joshua, dropping to the ground. Then she kicked him in the shin with a grunt of irritation. "You're late! You had us... you had me worried sick!" Joshua chuckled again and walked on past the girl, eager to get into the rain. Sarah glared at her brother angrily, but followed, not wanting to get any more soaked then she already was from the rain. "Is she still home?" Sarah nods, then shakes her long brown hair out. Joshua didn't chastise her this time since he was doing a lot worse himself. "Let me guess, sleeping?"

Sarah sighs and looks a little sadly at the stairs leading to the master bedroom. "Auntie Ela woke up for a bit today, I even got her to eat and talk for a while, but then she said she was feeling tired so I had her go back upstairs again."

"You did good squirt." Joshua sets the mug down on a nearby table and messes with the girls hair, then turns his attention back to the coins. As he counts out how much he made, he speaks. "You have a good day at the temple today? Learn anything new?" For some reason, Sarah liked learning things from books, and so it was the perfect question to distract her from their drunk aunt, who they stayed with.

The conversation went on like it usually did from there, with Sarah sharing all that the few priests of Iomedae and Shelyn could teach her. It wasn't much unfortunately, but it was more then they could afford, and Joshua was forever grateful that the priests offered such services for the younger ones for free. But about halfway through the conversation, Joshua stops listening. Was that...? Yes, it looked like it. He reached into the can and quickly pocketed the golden coin before Sarah had a chance to see it, then brought the rest over to his little pouch. The pouch was heavy, containing all that Joshua had saved over his years of working as a guard. It had a good amount of gold, that was certain, and Sarah and he would never go hungry with this here. The pouch went back into its hiding spot beneath one of the floorboards. Not a perfect spot, but one that would be hard to find without someone telling anything. He turns to his little sister, who trails off when she's sees his expression. "You're... going out again aren't you?"

Joshua shakes his head quickly. "Not tonight squirt. But yeah." It was a secret he hadn't kept very well, mostly because he didn't like lying. Despite having been let go from the city watch, Joshua still did something he shouldn't. Whenever someone was generous enough to spare him copper or silver, it went right into the pouch beneath the floor boards. It didn't keep him from whittling away at his savings, but it did slow the process down enough that he could last for a good while taking care of Sarah. But gold coins? Those... he was ashamed to say those did not go to his family. Not always any way. A gold coin wasn't worth a lot to nobles, but to other beggars and small time thieves it meant food for a week at a relatively clean tavern. It was the cost of the information Joshua was looking for. Something was wrong with this city. Everyone knew it, but no one knew why. Joshua? He intended to find out. He had too. For himself, for his family, for the city, and for those who died every night, taken by shadows and the things that lurked within them.

His sister, Sarah, disaproved when she found out. She didn't care about the city, the fat nobles that didn't care about us common folk as she called them, and while she felt bad about those who lost their lives at night, she reminded Joshua time and again that it wasn't his job anymore. She worried about him, especially now that he couldn't defend himself anymore.

He sighs and heads toward his room in the back, "Get some sleep Sarah. I'll be leaving at dawn, so we'll talk when I get back tomorrow." His room was the smallest in the house, since he had refused to let Sarah have one on the first floor. It had a bed... sort of... and a beaten down old dresser missing most of its handles. It was sparcely lit with two candles, which took about five minutes for him to light. Sarah usually lit them for him around the time he got home. She had done so tonight as well. It looks like, judging by the amount of candle that was gone, he was about an hour late tonight.

With the door shut behind him to his room, Joshua quickly changed out of his wet clothes and hung them up, then found a somewhat clean towel to dry himself off. The ordeal was... harder then it once had been. The man looked into the mirror across the room and saw a stranger. White hair. Thin body. Soft, weak muscles. The only thing bright about him was his white hair and grey eyes, which came from his mothers side of the family he was certain, and even that color seemed... wilted now.

But, as it always did, his eyes tracked down to his right arm. Or what was left of it. it ended halfway up the elbow, little more then a stump. When he looked at it, the pain returned to the surface of his mind and he grimaced. It always hurt, but Joshua was able to ignore it these days, simply because he had gotten used to it. But whenever he thought about that night he lost it, thought about what he couldn't do anymore, or even glanced at himself in the mirror the pain came back. That wasn't even the worst part though. Sometimes he could still feel his hand. Sometimes he accidentally tried to reach out with his right hand. He used to be a guard, a proud one who defended the innocent despite the corruption in the city. Now he was a beggar and a cripple.

In the frail, flickering light of the candle, the stranger in the mirror looked harder then he normally did. His features were cast in shadow, his scars dark and forboding. And his expression... The expression of the stranger in the mirror hardened to match that body and those pale grey eyes briefly flashed with the steel of his soul. It didn't matter. he was going to find out what was wrong. Somehow. He was going to protect his family, his home. His city. He would be its Guardian.

-It's set in core Golarion, the only change/addition will be the group the PCs are members of.

-Aasimar as just as rare as they are anywhere else. That is to say probably less than 1% of the population if I had to guess. Westcrown has 114,700 people in it (88% human, 7% halfling, 5% other races).

-No. Though quality is more important than quantity. If there are a ton of grammar mistakes, run on sentences or things that don't make sense I probably won't read past the first paragraph. If you write well, more is almost always better.

-Westcrown has a curfew because its nights are haunted by mysterious shadow creatures who murder anyone they find. Guards travel in squads of seven, six soldiers and one lieutenant. The guards are called Dottari. Unofficially they are divided into four groups - the common dottari who man the gates and patrol the streets of the Spera; the condottari, or “canal wardens,” who patrol the Westchannel; the Dhaenflow, and the canals of the Regicona; the rundottari, or “ruin wardens," who man the walls of Rego Cader and keep the threats and dangers of the ruins contained and out of the city and the regidottari “palace wardens,” who guard the Regicondan and the city's nobles.

Guards are often attacked and wounded or killed.

-No, I encourage you to include NPCs in your background. They make a character more realistic.

-Yes, that falls under the "rule of cool" I mentioned in the OP. As long as the mechanics don't change at all, and the fluff could describe the same effect I'm cool with it. For example you could reflavor claws as pincers or wrist barbs or something but not a laser gun.

That game is not going on anymore, thus this game. Two people had RL issues, another one quit and that was that.

They were doing pretty well actually. I have also played in another game where the party ended up being 3/4 synthesists.

What I've learned so far is that synthesists are awesome. That's about it. Everyone will have access to healing, be extremely tough and can be built as melee, ranged or spell focused. I don't think it's possible for a party of synthesists to suck. In fact I'm anticipating having to beef up the enemies quite a bit after the first level or two.

I like to think about it like the American south during black slavery. Alot of white masters were sleeping with black slaves. But their half-white kids weren't treated substantially differently from their slave parents. It's a similar situation.

Arkwright's also right, it's a recessive thing. They're not half-fiends, it's just someone jumped the fence at some point in the past.

Oh and it's definitely devils. Demons are the chaotic evil ones from the Abyss, not hell.

If my sample is bad enough to have that many issues I'll rewrite it. I'm a weird recovery/sleep schedule from having a very nasty flue for a week, so at any point in time I could be coherent or entirely exhausted and it could make no sense for what time of day it is.

I'm going to have to think on what part of the Dottari Joshua will have worked for, but at the moment I'm just leaving it as guard.

Joshua's profile is almost, but not quite done. I am of course missing a background, a personality, an appearance and so on. But I do have some pictures, both for how he'll look like normally and fused. I plan on taking the Scion of Humanity alternate racial feature. The truth is, Joshua doesn't even know he's an Aasimar. He and his family believe his odd hair and eye color come from the fact that he's biologically a half-elf. The discovery of his angelic heritage will be a big part of his character, and I intend to try and tie in both his angelic ancestor and one of the things enemies into the character.

And, if you've read the writing sample, you know he's lost an arm. That will come into play too, especially when his fused form gives it back to him... when he's fused at least.

Here is the two pictures as a little teaser. Normal
Fused (sans the wings of course... for now.)
His path will lead him to becoming The Guardian, and the sigil on his forehead will be angelic script that reads his ancestors name.

If everyone can put their writing samples at the bottom of their alias in a spoiler that will help me immensely when selection time comes. Thanks!

Will do.

Sounds good. I also make a lot of crippled synth characters. I have a merfolk who only gets legs from his eidolon, and in the past I had a crippled dwarf with a twisted, stunted leg and atrophied muscles who became like 18 str super dwarf in his eidolon (we were only level 1 or 2).

You are a good writer, I read the whole thing, promise :P

I shall be getting to everything I need when I wake up, promise! For now I must sleep. XD

Campaign sounds really good so definately interested.

Silly questions here. You want us to write up a background as normal person(an NPC).

OK, I can do that but where is the info for stats on that?

I don't know what that means. If you want information about the AP, you can download the player's guide here. All the information you need to make your character's stats is above. For further information about Golarion and Westcrown, you can read some stuff on PathfinderWiki, or in many of the books published by Paizo.

@Fabian Benavente:
NPC classes are found in the Core Rulebook or HERE

Sounds really cool DM Jelani! If I weren't already in 4 PbPs and I wanted to play CoT I'd be in! I do love the Synthesist archetype...

Would you allow folks to play a Symbiote-Synthesist from Zombie Sky Press' It Came from the Stars? A very neat tweak to the archetype.

Is it on d20pfsrd.com?

Likely not. It is quite recent. Seems a longshot then. Just an idea! ;)

I meant the 'rules' for creating a 'warrior' as mentioned above. For example (BAB, saves, skill ranks, etc.).

However, Oceanshieldwolw answered that for me so thank you both.

Yeah, I guessed as much when I saw his response to you. Thanks for the answer Oceanshieldwolf.

Strength: 8
Dexterity: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Constitution: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16
Intelligence: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
Wisdom: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
Charisma: 18

Huh. Those are some good rolls. I'm thinking Half-Elven scholar (librarian) taking inspiration from Beast from X-Men.

I love beast. Those are some damned good rolls. Grats :)

Foible - Strength: 8 = 8
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
Focus - Charisma: 18 = 18

I'm thinking about a shopkeep or craftsman; Expert class most likely. Another idea might be an Adept who works as an acolyte or deacon in the local church.

I'll read up on the path character guide a bit before making up my mind.

Str: 8
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
Cha: 18

Going for a female tiefling graffiti-artist. Expert.

One more question: I just saw that 'guns everywhere' bit.

How will that look like? Will guards be walking around with guns (advanced pistols)?

Pretty much all the bad guys will have guns?

Can you elaborate your vision of Westcrown with guns everywhere if it's not too much to ask.

Thanks!

Hey Jelani, so sweet. I missed getting a build together for the other super hero game. Hopefully I can get one done this weekend. I'm going for my idea from the previous game and baseing my guy off of Colossus.

Str: 18
Dex: 8
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12

Ok looks ok, I wanted him to be physically opposing without the eidolon. Looks like will need a headband to get above 2nd level spells :)

Very interesting... Let's what the dice gods want me to play:

Str 8
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
Cha 18

Jelani, what would you think of the idea of my base form being something like a 10 year old boy? I'm thinking of the classic street urchin with a heart of gold, who dreams of one day being a knight in shining armour. His hero form would end up being something like that, a massive, tall and powerful silvery armoured figure, with power and abilities that go well beyond those of a common warrior.

A kid that young isn't technically allowed by the rules, but it could be rather flavourful. Ends up with a kind of Captain Marvel/Shazaam type twist, but in this case where he is actually young and extremely impressionable, he is at the same time oddly jaded and streetwise, due to his upbringing.

I am still brainstorming ideas, but this is the first interesting one to come to mind for me.

Here is my Librarian (Scholar) inspired by Beast, Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), and the cthulhu mythos. I hope you like it; let me know if I've done anything dreadfully wrong.

Probably no. Advanced firearms are still pretty expensive. Not many people can afford 400 gold for a revolver, certainly not your common guard (or their employers). Maybe the lieutenants. It just means that they are around and available, but still mainly a thing for the rich. Also, guns are loud and this happens in a city. Can't be alerting everyone with thunderous noise every time you want to kill someone.

Edit:I'm still working that bit out, but lets just say your characters know about guns, know they're around and see them fairly regularly in the hands of wealthy individuals and their employees.

Silver Crusade

I'm thinking of a thief, not one who steals to survive but rather to annoy those in charge. Start with expert. Background wise a middle child from a large successful family who is largely ignored both family wise and in society.

For the fused form I imagine taking on a shadowy appearance, dressing in dark clothing itself and the eidolon looking like shadows surrounding me within. Name wise 'Silver-eyed Shadow'. The mark on the forehead for when your eidolon is summoned when have a silvery appearance to it, looking like eyes. I might well start off taking the +8 skill evolution (for stealth) as a start, powers based on shadowish concepts (reach & claws for example, for sending out the shadows to shred someone).

Just a rough idea so far.

Str 8 = 8
Dex 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
Con 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
Int 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
Wis 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
Cha 18 = 18

Lets up it to maybe 12-13 (post puberty) and then I won't feel bad shredding you to bits. Great idea though. Glad to see people are taking inspiration from comic books :)
