Dhaavan enjoys his time, Fleecing a few folks with cards, via impressive bluffing, but setteling all the bets with drinks, I'm not here to win a pittiance of coin, I'm here for reverly and good company! This round's on you ya scurvy squid, and the one after too, unless you learn to play cards! he says, jovially teasing one of the men at the table and getting a rise out of everyone.

Once Jiro mentions the girl, Dhaavan glances over and is eyes go wide... without a word, he gets up walks to the bar and a minute later he arrives with a full glass of amber liquid that burns from where you're siting like one of those Dwarven ales that is harder than most liquor.

He sits, downs half of the mug, and then glances at the other officers, then to the drink, as if awakening from a fugue state, then takes another swig.

Just try not to get her attention. There's no hiding in the shadows for us now, as far as Harrigan and his. . . crew. . . are concerned. I'm not interested is dealing with them at the moment... he looks distracted, and glances around the room.

The alehouse was a nice distraction from the events of the day. It was a shame they did not permit animals into the establishment so Neko remained onboard the Lady enjoying some of the chicken gifted to her by Amen-set. Least Flynn's ward was keeping her golden cat company this evening.

Rain ordered the sea bass with lemon butter and some wine. Having grown up by the sea, she often enjoyed the flavour of the catch of the day. It had been a long day and she was hungry.

The Elven pilot subtly scanned her eyes about the room, noting the patrons, audible conversations and the exits.

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

When Jiro quietly whispered the presence of Harrigan's cabin girl and what she was attempting to do, Rain in turn, discreetly passed along the message to Variel who sat beside her and asked for him to do the same, hoping not to draw the attention of said female or any Harrigan supporters and spies.

Rain heard Jiro say he would disguise himself and draw closer to Harrigan's girl but Adular countered that he would undertake the task. She was certain either could handle it and did not object either way.

Just as you are about to get up to go after her, a very good looking man saunters up to the table, looking at Rain with great interest. He sits down at the table uninvited but immediately pays for a round of drinks for you all. Looking at Rain he says Truly beauty shines upon the Riptide this night, for a woman with the brilliance of the shining stars sits within. He bows over your hand and kisses it. Sweeping his cloak dramatically he says I am Captain Pierce Jerrell of the ship Salty Flagon. Might I have your name so that I may treasure it to the end of my days? Pierce Jerrell is a dashing young man with a handsome, square-jawed face and finely muscled frame. He wears an unadorned black patch over his left eye and dresses in a loose, flowing shirt and high boots. His self-assured manner and easy smile radiate self-confidence. Pierce moves with an understated swagger that suggests he’s well accustomed to standing astride the swaying deck of a ship at sea.

With the distraction of the newcomer you lose sight of Caulky for a moment.

Need new perception checks in addition to reactions to the swashbuckler.

Seijiro watches this newcomer with a mix of admiration and insult... This Jerell just intruded on a private conversation, but he did so with great skill and panache...

He turns back to try to catch sight of Caulky again... or if he can't spot her, perhaps a view of the fellow she just drugged.

During the social hour Variel gets word that one of Harrigan's lasses is here stirring up trouble. Passing the message he got from Rain around the table Variel looks at Rain as he stands up. Would you care for a few dances Rain? Not only would I enjoy giving you a spin but you can look for more of Harrigan's cronies as well,

After they have turned the room once or twice and sit back down Variel follows the recommendation and orders the sea bass with wine. Soon thereafter a newcomer sits at the table and introduces himself as he hits on Rain. Variel does not touch the drink that is ordered by the Captain as Variel begins to stand in response of this man's actions. Captain Pierce Jerrell, Captain Variel Nightstorm. Variel extends his hand and gives a strong grip on the shake. letting the grip last a little longer than perhaps necessary he continues on, I see that you have cunning eyesight and discerning taste. Please let me introduce to you my betrothed. The radiant Rain Taneththir. with that Variel releases the grip and places his hand on Rain's shoulder.

Captain Jerrell smiles back at you, though his smile does seem a bit disappointed when you mention that she is your betrothed. An absolute pleasure, Captain Nightstorm. You are indeed blessed with the luck of Cayden Cailean with a sight such as lady Tanetthir on your arm. Please forgive if I have caused offense. Turning abruptly he looks to the other side and spots Seijiro before winking at him suggestively. It seems Captain Jerrell has liberal tastes in love. He also seems decently into his cups but makes good on his offer of drinks and seems a genially and gregarious sort of fellow.

Jack, Rain, and Seijiro spot Caulky again, and she seems to spot you at the same time when Variel stands up to meet Captain Jerrell. Her eyes widening she begins to move toward the exit when you hear someone shout loudly, Hey that little snake put something in my drink! The man tosses the drink over his shoulder, which hits another sailor, who turns and punches the man behind him, which wasn't the guy who threw it, whose friends turn and start throwing punches, which jostles those nearby....and within moments the entire place has erupted into a huge brawl. Captain Jerrell whoops with joy and laughter at this event before turning to cast a spell, you all suddenly feel energy surge through your bodies as you find your movements are quickened noticeably. Immediately afterward, he picks up a stool and smashes it over the head of the nearest pirate, yelling Come on Captain Nightstorm! Let's show em what Free Captains are made of!

A little inspiration

Riptide Alehouse

So far everyone is fighting with fists or improvised weapons like stools and bottles and such. Improvised Weapons Rules:
Sometimes objects not crafted to be weapons nonetheless see use in combat. Because such objects are not designed for this use, any creature that uses an improvised weapon in combat is considered to be nonproficient with it and takes a –4 penalty on attack rolls made with that object. To determine the size category and appropriate damage for an improvised weapon, compare its relative size and damage potential to the weapon list to find a reasonable match. An improvised weapon scores a threat on a natural roll of 20 and deals double damage on a critical hit. An improvised thrown weapon has a range increment of 10 feet.

All the improvised weapons in here also have the fragile condition, on a natural 1 they are considered broken adding an additional -2, if it happens again the item is destroyed. I have a house rule that the same thing happens on a natural 20 due to the extra force generated.

Available improvised items: All have a crit of 20/x2
Bottle: 1d4 (can be thrown)
Stool: 1d6 (one handed with additional -2, two handed for normal improvised weapon penalty)
Chair: 1d8 (two handed only)

Oh also the entire area is difficult terrain due to the hoard of brawlers. The only exception is you can use acrobatics DC 20 to jump from table to table or swing on the chandeliers above.

When things went south and a few of these pug-uglies stepped up behind him, he grins, recalling his time under Harrigan when they had tossed him in the hold alone with two knife-men and no weapons.

”Alright, you basterds, let’s dance!” he says to the guy at G:10.

Well, not really sure what Buff the Free Captain gave me, but I know what buffs I have to play out, even in an Un-Armed brawl

Snaps on Archeologists Luck and Urban Rage combined with Weapon Finesse, some Power Attack for Flavor to hit and uses a Full Action to pummel the guy in front of him (don’t forget the bonus Urban Barbarians have for fighting in crowds, too ;)

GM - via the conditions; at this point are any of us able to see where Caulky is going as we're all looking around in combat (it looks like F:13, but I'm not sure) or will we all need to make Perception Checks to see her as well?

Variel lnods to Rain as the fight starts, Keep track of Caulky if you can. We don't want her escaptng. Good thing your wearing pants and a not a dress.

He then casts fly on her to allow her to move over the crowd towards her quarry. He then steps up swinging at the pirate in front of him. Aye Pierce, let show these land lubbers what we are made of!

He then grabs a stool so he has a weapon that he can enchant if he needs to later.

Nice shots Flynn! Thankfully they are flatfooted. Seijiro that also means that you get sneak attack on the one you hit! Also it was haste so you get another attack with sneak if you want it.

When the brawl began after Caulky had been caught spiking the drinks, her companions (including the charming Captain Jerrell) immediately joined in the rumble. Variel swiftly cast a Fly spell on her and instructed she follow Harrigan's girl before eagerly joining the others. Removing the captain's daughter from her belt, Rain unfurled the nine knotted thongs, and keeping her sight on Caulky began to give chase through the air. (Flying Avenger.)

When Rain was within distance, she flicked the cat o'nine toward Caulky, hoping to strike a part of her body that was not armoured (preferably the back of the legs if she is facing away from Rain) (not sure if she is wearing any armour), to slow her down via the pain, but not kill her (unless the girl gave her reason to).

Rain can fly 60 ft... Going by the Alehouse Map, Rain will move to G:17. Immortal, unfortunately, I am unable to move Rain's avatar on the map. It won't permit me to.

Why do I see the fight stopping as all eyes look to the skies to see Rain floating along with her cat o'nine tails trailing behind. Then once everyone has double checked that what they saw is true the fighting resumes in earnest. either that or everyone starts trying to make her into a pinata (hopefully not the case).

Awesome! If the first guy drops on the first or second punch (or even the third punch) then he'll use the forth punch on the guy at 10:G. If it takes all 4 punches to drop this guy, though; then I'll happily do that, too.

With the stool in one hand Variel takes stock of the situation. He hears Horatio call out that Rain needs assistance and that Horatio will take care of the brawlers near him. However Variel needed some room to maneuver. Placing a hand on his sword Variel focuses the swords often underutilized power and drenches the ruffian in front of him with a shower of water trying to push him back.

CMB from hydraulic push from Tidewater Cutlass 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

However instead of pushing the foe back all Variel managed to do was cause the water to bounce off hitting himself instead. Standing there soaking wet and partially humiliated at the poor showing he tries to move away from the fight closer to Rain.

20ft movement doubled from haste but difficult terrain brings it back to 20 feet of movement.

not sure of the situation and the map isn't reloading for me.

If Rain is still facing off with Caulky, Seijiro uses the nearest chandelier (using his swinging reposition ability?) and swings in behind her, so he's flanking her with Rain, and with a grin on his face, says, "Thinking of leaving little one?... not an option."

If she tries to move out more than 5' he'll take an aoo on her, otherwise he just stands there looking threatening and letting Rain do the talking.

Finally - GM - once the fight is resolved, what's the status of the room in general in terms of patrons, authorities and so on?

No, that's totally cool; I mean, do what you got to do :)

But I just wasn't sure if the rest of us were able to head over there and lend you guys a hand with questioning her or if we were still fighting the guys near us while your group takes care of her.

Not to mention the owners of the bar and possible "Bouncers" to break things up; or authorities (doubtful, but possible), and how much time we have to do all of these things.

I guess we'll find out soon, though! :)

Dhaavan blasts his foe into the crowd where he gets lost in the brawl.

Pierce, having a blast, casts a spell and a spray of flashing colors comes pouring out of his hands, engulfing the crowd near him.

Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The crowd near him screams and covers their eyes, blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.

This effectively takes the two near him out of the fight.

Horatio's eyes are hard as he stares at the girl, recognizing the gambit of drugging the drinks to "roll" a crew as pressed men.

That probably meant that Harrigan's lackey's were likely nearby somewhere...

As he waits to hear Pierce's response, a sudden thought crosses his mind - Pierce used his spell to help them all after Harrigan's girl was taken prisoner.

I'm the first mate, now and they can't defy me and hurt you. Dhaavan says, hoping to play off her fear of Flynn, and provide a friendly face. We just need to know who else is here with you right now. I need your help to protect you. So how far any of the Wormwood's crew, and who is nearby. This is important. Who was going to help you get these people to the ship, and are any of the officers in the area?

If he has to use the spell and it works he'll again question her to figure out what officers are around and what her plan is. If she's not cooperative then he'll press the issue

Still waiting on the answers to the Checks I rolled earlier. But all of a sudden Horatio is really suspicious of the guy who suddenly used magic to get us all out of the bar fight as soon as this girl was formally captured by our people. And did you notice how he came up to our party right away? Almost as if he was scoping us out before the brawl went down?

For now Horatio has his hand ready on the weapon in case this guy is ready to do something. Unless, of course, the Sense Motive reveals other details, then I'm thinking that maybe this guy may be working with Chaulky somehow.

Sir Horatio Flynn, you will do no such thing. I command it as both your First-Mate, and your liege-lord Dhaavan says, his tone firm but not harsh, as the idea of insubordination wouldn't even occure to him, he is so secure in his station. Don't worry... he adds to Caulky with a pleasant grin.

that slight mischievous twinkle in Dhaavan's eye tells you because she'll give me what I want, so you won't have to. He's communicating to Flynn that this is part of the act, and that the next step is for Horatio to back down, cementing Dhaavan as her protector

If anyone can aid to make her feel more at peace with the situation, and trusting I'd like to be able to turn her...
