Well, when I think about it, the encounters with lots of enemies do seem to last longer. I've been personally a little disappointed with the dragon encounters. I always have such high expectations for the great beast, but they have not lasted very long in their battles.
Talk to DMS (Chris) about dragon battles. He ran a black dragon against our party a number of years ago, and it was *epic*. What a great battle!!! Good thing too, becuase we got a spelljammer in the treasure (kind of required for the campaign...)
Like I said before, we got the jump on this dragon, and came loaded for bear. If it had been reversed, the dragon would have halfing-shaped poo tomorrow morning, I'm sure.

In my opinion, a dragon on the ground is about CR5 less than a dragon in the air. Their flight speed is so high that almost nobody can keep up with them, so it is pretty much fly-by breath weapon sniping vs. whatever arrows and spells get through its DR and SR.
Also, it is hard to play them really intelligently as that would make most battles unwinnable. As intelligent foes with lifetimes in the hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Most dragons would take to the air and run the second they realized they were outmatched.

There was a funny dragon magazine article about how rumors of dragons brought out Adventurers in droves. They were easy picking with good loot.
Demons on the other hand, drew respectful shrugs but no takers.

same here. We lost power & internet at home (internet is restored, and we have a generator so we have some necessities, and hot water!) due to teh storm. Hopefully house will be back to normal soon.

Power is supposedly still out for us. We are out of town, so it may be cold when I we get in on Saturday.
hopefully not cold enough for frozen pipes!! :-((((

Poor Maggie is hobbling around on three of her legs, but we think one leg is fractured. Due to the electricity being out, their x Ray machine is not working. We are going to make the trip home tonight, but we have to stop at the emergency vet's office in Littleton tonight to do an X-ray. It is going to be a late night tonight.

Yup. They also have psychologists for pets. Pretty insane in my opinion.
that was a bit ironic...

Well, Maggie has two breaks in her right paw and she is having surgery this morning. The cost is a little tough to swallow, but the alternative is worse.
On the upside, I saw Carl Palmer playing on his legacy of ELP tour last night in Stowe, VT. The venue was practically empty and I watched the entire concert from about five feet away from Carl. He was phenomenal!

You might want to determine thier properties in ways other than experimentation. If they're NOT slippers of Spider Climb, you may not celebrate your 46th...
happy Bday bro

I am not in any other games with him that are active right now. I say bot him and move forward. He is going to go melee most likely to try to take out the wyvern that is up, and then the other one if possible.
Also, don't forget that the gargoyle needs to make a check to finish his summoning spell with the damage my magic missile did. Should be DC29 I think.

Heading off to the airport in a couple of hours, then 27 hrs flight + 3 hour drive to the middle of England, plus transfers etc.
So will be out of contact for up to two days.
The joys of living down under!

Zipping over to Northern Ireland in the morning, but staying in an old manor house older than time with wonderful farmland all around - odds of internet is not solid...
Same same, Boxing Day I will be heading to a lodge in the wilds of Scotland, and whilst I have a few days making my way up there through York and Edinburgh, once I get there I have it firmly that there will be no internet until I get back 3rd Jan

Bofus and I played Bonekeep at GenCon 2013 when it had just come out. We can brag that we survived. However, I think we were saved by the bell. We ran out of time with only one encounter remaining. The GM told us that we would not have survived the last encounter. This was one of my introductions to PFS. Its amazing that I kept at it.
That same convention we ran through Day of the Demon, The Siege of Diamond City and The Waking Rune. The only thing close to normal that I played that week was the Glass River Rescue.
I cannot say that we even got passed the first encounter of the Waking Rune. I was pretty mad about that scenario. After twenty minutes we needed to retreat and the whole sessions was wasted. No xp and no prestige, but at least we lived.

DotD was amazing. Bonekeep...we did very well and got the "big prize" but as DMHW said we didn't get the last encounter (and from the descriptions we'd heard, I think I agree with the DM--we'd have not survived). We saw a TPK next door to us ON THE FIRST ROOM. Heh.
I remember that on our first night in the hotel, we found an empty conference room and downloaded a scenario so we could all "warm up" (and get DMHW's character another XP). We ended up having 2-3 other groups come in and play concurrently.
Waking Rune totally pissed me off. It was by far the most poorly designed PFS scenario I've ever seen--and we only got to the first encounter. I'd heard the BBEG had access to 12th level spells (8th level spell quickened); how is that in any way a manageable encounter for characters with access to 5th level spells?!?!
I will remember GenCon 2013 fonldy as my favorite of my 3 trips so far. Hopefully it can be topped when I bring one, or both, of my kids...

I didn't realize that was an option.

On a side note, had a great day of gaming with DMHW today. It was me, my two little people and DMHW's nephew. Made it through the Confirmation without causing any international incidents or having anyone get killed.
