Sam starts to do his 'summon DM dance, and won't stop until said DM arrives....


The Balcony Round 6

Sam, Magma, Girs, Epik, Jenya, Nowzai, CK, Ak, Nemoris, Dalamus

Sam coats the now clear area in front of the door with grease as the party settles in and waits as the screeching monkey sounds turn to grunts of effort as the portcullis begins to grind and move.

Magma grips his longhammer and grinds his teeth as he waits for the gate to open.

With a screech of metal, the gate flies open and a cacophony of screams accompany the raging gorillas that launch themselves out of the cavern ... the magical darkness no longer apparent. These black-furred creatures crest 12 feet and aside from an extra set of arms, look exactly like gorillas. Behind them at the edge of the shadows, smaller chimpanzee-like charau-ka wait and watch.

Knowledge Arcana DC21:
The creatures are girallon, magical carnivorous beasts known to populate the jungles of Mwangi. Highly territorial and aggressive, they are animal in intelligence, but possess superior tracking, vision and climbing abilities as well as being possessed of great strength and fortitude

The creatures hit the grease and are forced to slow down to pass through it. The three of them slip and slide but make it out the other side.

Magma may take his readied attack

Two of them take swings at Magma, connecting once. The third looks for an opening. The third creatures also radiates a faint aura

The creature is under the effect of a magic circle against good

Reroll them all Tike and just treat it like a normal turn (since it looks like this is happening really before my readied action would have gone off, assuming we ported out on round 5?). I thought for sure it'd take more than 6 seconds for them to close on us, open the gate, and attack.

Sounds good, my one attack would go off right before Girs (and at Girs), and my initiative would be reset to directly before him and after Magma then correct?

The Balcony Round 6 cont

Sam, Magma, Nemoris, Girs, Epik, Jenya, Nowzai, CK, Ak, Dalamus

Magma and Nemoris let off their attacks, the nimble gorilla rolls under the arrow, but gets hammered hard by the longhammer. The beast roars in pain but presses on.

Epik calls upon his deity for favor while Jenya beseeches the same goddess to enhance the party.

Nowzai summons a horde of black tentacles which immediately wrap all the girralons up ... causing them to howl in frustration as they fight against their bonds.

The sounds of curious hoots and then what seems like spell casting can be heard back in the cavern.

Dalamus moves in to attack the grappled girralon to the north, but nearly trips along the way spoiling his attack.

Would an obscuring mist sink to the ground if I cast it at the cave roof above them or would it stay in the area I cast it?

Is there enough room above them for me to cast it and use it as cover while I am flying to move in and out? I don't want to block Nemoris or any of Nowzai's summons I just want to use it as cover for me while I am in it

Just realized, I never answered this. Obscuring mist would stay where it's cast (mist rises around you the caster).

Also note, there is a wind ripping through the rift and the tunnel ... creating the noise you keep hearing.

I will cast Mirror Image and move up to 5' southern one, next to Magma, but still flying, I know they will get one AoO

The Balcony Round 7

Sam, Magma, Nemoris, Girallons, Epik, Jenya, Nowzai, CK, Ak, Lion Dalamus

Sam casts a spell and splits into multuple images of himself all duplicating his action but they shift and swirl around making it impossible to determine which one he is. Sam flies up and over toward the creatures who bite at him while wrestling with the tentacles. The tiefling dodges them easily.

Magma hammers the nearest girallon twice, crushing its head to a pulp with the second blow. Nemoris catches the glowing circle one in the back with 2 to the throat and it gurgles and falls into the tentacles with the first. The remaining girallon rips the tentacles off it's body and then leaps up grasping the bottom of the grate with one hand and planting its feet on the wall to steady itself. It roars at the party, spittle flying from its mouth. (Dalamus and Magma may take AoOs)

Epik finds himself without a target he can reach (New action?)

Jenya holds her action (unless you all want her to do something specific!)

Nowzai's lantern archons pelt the remaining girallon, and makes several scorch marks although the nimble simian dodges several. His follow up acid dart isn't dodged and is more effective than the total of the archons.

Darkvision or Lowlight Vision:
Out at the edge of your vision, three chimpanzee like humanoids tear out of the darkness and throw axes at the party (similar to the ones you may have seen pass over you on the jungle trail). It is likely that your normal vision comrades can't see them at this range. (Knowledge Local to identify)

Axes fly from the darkness beyond the tentacles at Sam, Magma, and Epik striking the paladin and stonechilde once each. Simultanously a lion appears behind Nemoris out of nowhere and rushes forward roaring. The creature rips and claws at the stunned archer who is able to weather the harrowing blows.

A loud snap orginates in the middle of the party and a wave of sonic force rolls out against everyone. Everyone takes 1d8 ⇒ 1 sonic damage and must make a DC17 Fort Save or be stunned for 1 round..

Darkvision or Low light Vision:
An anicent silver-backed chimpanzee bearing a staff and several satchels appears in the group of other chimpanzees ... as if by magic at the same time as the loud snap

If not stunned Dalamus no longer has a target in range.

Everyone (Casters especially), please keep tracked in your resources (each post) spells in effect and remaining spells to cast ... it's important for me to be able to reconcile things. For example, I'm not sure what Sam has active right now nor do I know what spells he still has memorized. Also, I believe Dalamus has greater invis up?

Tike, since it seems like almost everyone misses saving throws that you post in every combat, maybe we need to try and find a better way to have those pop out. Bold it maybe? Have it be a separate line and not at the end of a paragraph. I dunno, something maybe?

Also what about allowing people who still have the ability to go edit, to go edit? Both Magma and Dalamus posted with in the 60 minute window that they could have gone and edited, would you allow that?

I mean Magma's save is a +16, he could not have failed his save no matter what he rolled.

I get why we do this, you don't want people fudging saves that they will fail, but if they actually roll dice in the next post, we could figure out if the first roll would have been a save or not, and then they could forfeit the next D20 roll. I know when we are reading on phones and/or mobiles devices it makes seeing those saves sometimes very difficult.

Maybe a spoiler that is SAVES! And all saves are under that? I don't want to make it more of a pain in the ass for you, just trying to see if there is a better way to do it.

Regardless of save you take 1 point of sonic damage.
