Now's a good time for me to mention again my house rule that magical weapons and armor can resize up or down a size category. In this case, the +1 short sword wielded by Warchief Ripnugget was small but can resize to medium.
I find it generally makes bookkeeping easier. And also it doesn't lock out players from taking trophies they can use.

Alright leveled Beromar up: all ya'll spellcasters check out the following ability which works particularly well with martially inclined casters.
Defend Charge (Ex): A t 4th level, a witchguard forms
a bond with a spellcaster he has sworn to defend. Once
per day, this bond allows the witchguard to spend a move
action to grant an adj acent spellcaster a +2 dodge bonus to
AC and a +2 circumstance bonus on concentration checks.
At 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter, these bonuses
increase by 2 . The bonuses last for a number of rounds
equal to the witchguard's Wisdom modifier (minimum i).
At 4th level and every 3 levels thereafter, the witchguard
can u s e this ability one additional time per day.
Also the way I read it I can use it once per day at 4th and once more every 4 levels thereafter but there might be disagreement on how this works...
I'm also not quite sure whether this ability only works with one dedicated spell caster (likely the intent) or basically any spell caster (what the rules say).

Whoops, you are correct. I was only reading its description from a summary table. I'll instead take powerful sneak which lets me take a -2 on sneak attacks and reroll 1s in my damage die.

That one will actually negatively affects your damage output in most sitautaions due to the -2 to hit not being worth the average damage increase of .45 damage per sneak attack die.

Okay, so here's the thing. Rooms D4a through D4d and D5 have literally nothing of value in them to us. No encounters, loot, clues - literally nothing. So I'll just type up a big long post with our heroes going room by room. We'll say it all takes half an hour. For those keeping track of our time, because of spell effects -- like me. I'm going to say that it's been roughly 2 hours since we walked into the front gates.
You could argue that it's been less than that, but time's pretty weird for RPGs in general. And doing it PBP is an extra level of abstraction that's even harder to factor. So, I'm going to exercise a little GM fiat here and just say 2 hours for the sake of simplicity.
On that note, Bruin has 1 hour of longstrider left. Remember 2 hours after the montage post which will be coming soon.

I'm at a bit of a loss here. Part of me wants to claim the hide armor, but the fact that its made of dogs would be a pretty big turn off for Bruin.

Think about how awesome Cruella looks in a Dog pelt... also are you sure it's Bruin that would have a problem with it or yourself?
Personally I find the symbolic value attached to dogs in the western world is a bit hypocritical. Eating all kinds of critters is fair game, wearing leather shoes is totally normal. But people who hit their dogs are worse than those that would do the same to their kids...note I'm exaggerating a bit but you get my point.

Nah, it's Bruin. He's a sheltered, rich boy. Appearances and cultural nicities mean something to him even if he'd like to pretend that they don't. So, yeah, he'd probably be leery of it at least.
Played a dwarf cleric in Reign of Winter who would happily eat a dog if given half a chance.

Unfortunately it's a touch spell - which is just dumb for communal. So if we bunch up, I'll hit who I can, but no guarantees. I assume it lets me walk through friendly characters as I pat them on the back.

Well, first off, thanks for not taking it personally, Viroleth. Sadly, folks aren't always that mature about character death.
This has been a rough fight. But even without Beromar, I really thought we could pull it off. Now, I think we need to retreat or else we risk a TPK.
I can cast obscuring mist. And then our characters could make a break for it. What does everybody think?
And, Viro, any thoughts on a new character?

Sorry to see you die so young, but at least you went out in epic fashion, slain by the BBEG.
I am perfectly fine if we use this time to retire from the thread -- my life has been more than complicated enough lately, but will continue if all are still on-board.

Yeah, that's going to tear Bruin to pieces when he finally has a moment to brood about it. You know, if you think about it, Viro's death is actually dramatically well-timed:
• A dramatic fight versus the BBEG.
• One character known for his strength and ferocity, driven away by a fear effect and thus unable to help.
• One character obsessed with taking down the BBEG overriding Viro's sensible plan to back off because he wants to prove something to his goddess.
• Of all the characters, Viroleth is possibly the closest one to a full-fledged comic-relief.
We really couldn't have written this better. I'd compare it to a certain moment in season 1 of Game of Thrones - but I'm not sure the statute of limitations on spoilers is out for that yet.
But we didn't plan it. The Dice Roller just decided to be an a-hole.

Forgot to mention this yesterday, Spiderbeard, but you'll be starting off with a level 4 character with 6,000gp worth of gear. You'll have the same amount of XP as the rest of us.
And the goblins have been raiding and pillaging for a while, so your character will likely be the survivor of some attack. And thus you'll start off with half HP to show you've been tortured a bit. Is that cool with you, or do you have something else in mind?
