About Bruin Greenleaf

Back Story:

Bruin was born in Korvosa to a wealthy merchant family. His family ran the Greenleaf Tea Company, which had been founded by his grandfather. Unlike his older siblings, Bruin was not particularly ambitious, much to the chagrin of his father.

Growing up, Bruin and his father were often at odds. And usually his mother would step in and have them work through. But that all changed when she sadly got sick and passed away.

By his mother’s request, the funeral was officiated by a priestess of Desna. She had secretly worshipped the Starsong. It was a celebration of his mother’s life and a beautiful and touching ceremony, and The Song of the Spheres called out to him like no service to Abadar, his father’s patron God, ever had.

Bruin became an actively devout worshipper, attending services, taking long hikes throughout the countryside and helping others where he could. But this managed to drive an even deeper wedge between father and son.

The day that Bruin joined the Desnan temple as a layman was the last time he had ever seen his father. He had publicly disowned Bruin, and nothing he could say would ever correct that.

Bruin much prefers private contemplation of his Goddess on the road, to the traditional monastic life in a temple. He travels often, tending waypoints along roads, assuring others can find them in their time of need. During his travels he preaches the words of his Goddess, tells fortunes, and heals the sick.

He is arriving in Sandpoint on a whim. He had heard of the rebuilt Sandpoint Cathedral, and its rededication on the Swallowtail Festival. It sounds like it could be an interesting experience.
