Chronicling is just an on going narrative of action, which allows the players to go back and read the story without reading through all the posts to get there.

Often a PbP dungeon crawl can take weeks or months of RL time to complete, and by the time you emerge, many have forgotten why they went in there in the first place (especially if you play in multiple games). The chronicler just re-tells the story in narrative form on a Google Word Document that anyone can read (or edit, if they like). It doesn't have to be updated daily, in fact it may take a week for a sentence of narrative to play out.

"The party arrived in Sandpoint and met each other for the first time" may cover 100+ posts...

I do have a Loot Tracker form, as a Google Doc. We can link it to the top margin if it looks like what you'd like to use, or you can link it to your stat block.

Nice looking treasure sheet my good dwarf.

Although, one would and should expect nothing less from a dwarf where
the possibility of coin is involved...lol.

You guys doing ok so far? If you've played RotRL before you probably recognize I am not starting at the usual place but introducing the town, some of it's places and NPC's instead. If not, enjoy the town, there's lots of places to go and look around, so make yourselves at home.

If you have constructive criticism on the game etc, I am all ears. I want you to enjoy it after all.

I'm loving it so far, Doc. The extra effort is really appreciated, especially the prose. Methinks, I need to step my game up.

Also I would like to volunteer to do the Party Chronicle. I can get started with what we have this weekend. At this point there won't be much to it, but all the same.

So far so good, I can tell you and Sandpoint are old friends and establishing setting does a huge amount to improve the game. The stuff written in the book can get started when it gets started.

ONe of the classic scenes from Pathfinder is about to play out, but first I need a description of how you are armed and armored. I want you to consider OOC that you went out for a festival not a military campaign. I am guessing most of you would've left heavy armor and many weapons behind. My character has no armor on, and only his silver mace for a weapon. I'm hoping to scrounge up some gear as I go. Thankfully, being a support character, I can hang back a bit and use my spells and powers.

My armor class has been adjusted in the Stats line to AC 14. There's even an asterisk there to remind me it's been adjusted.

Loges has readied himself prior to leaving the Inn.

morning in The Dragon:
Loges awakens one hour before dawn to study his spellbook--as is his normal routine.

He then readies himself for what is sure to be a splendid day filled with diversions not to be found at school.
He packs his tiny possessions into his pack and slings it over his should.
He then speaks a cantrip, waving his hand over his robes, cleaning them and changing the color to match a more appropriate Varisian style.
He wonders down to the common room to enjoy some breakfast before venturing out.

Just a quick couple of notes about combat since we are entering our first real fight.

1) We will use maps for combat. Link is at top margin. You should have ability to move your own token, but please use an arrow to mark your movement path, in case any AoO's or other effects need to be considered.

2) I will roll initiatives, and post the order, as you have seen.

3) you need not wait until your initiative count to post your actions! In this format, we need to move the action along every chance we get. Post anyway, and I will re-summarize in order. If your actions are dependent on something else to happen, use an "if/then" format or give a secondary action. If your intended action becomes not applicable due to something else happening, I'll ask you to re-post, always erring on the side of the players. In PBP, waiting until your count to give actions will slow us down dramatically!

4) If you cast or use a special effect etc, link the ability as best you can, please. It saves me having to look it up. Eventually, I'll get used to your common tactics, but for now give me a break and link it.

5) In my games, taking common monsters below zero HP kills them (unless they have a special ability like ferocity), no need to go around butchering unconscious corpses. Channeling energy around a bunch of dead goblins will not make them rise from the grave (it may aid wounded ones however). If you want to bring back a "dead" monster for interrogation purposes, or if the enemy is a key NPC, they will usually have the same death rules as PC's (bleeding and stabilized, etc).

6) No critical fumbles. I'll make the encounters challenging enough without worrying about dropping your weapon 5% of the time. Critical hits still follow Core rules.

Have fun, and kick some ass!

Hey,guys, I'm considering a single level dip in Ranger. It'd be nice to use a longbow and unlock some class skills. If I do it early enough it shouldn't affect my casting too much. What do you think?

Dwarf Samurai 6 Init +2, Perception +10, Darkvision AC 24(T 12 FF 22) HP 567/56 CMD 23 (27 vs. Trip/Bull Rush) CMB +11 FORT +8 REF +5 WILL +5 (+2 vs. Mind affecting) (+5 vs. Magic and Poison)

From a mechanical perspective you should never dip out of a casting class. You will regret it level 3 at the latest once you miss out on second level spells.

If you do go ranger go trapper ranger to pick up trap finding.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus [Card Caster/Hexcrafter] 1 Ac 16 Hp 11/11 Initiative +6 Fort +4 Ref +2 Will +2 Percept +4

I agree with Beromar.
It is difficult to dip as a caster, but Ranger[Trapper]does grant some nice stuff.

Fair enough. I'll put it off at least until 4th level. And at that point, I can revisit the issue. Trapper is a good idea though.

Dwarf Samurai 6 Init +2, Perception +10, Darkvision AC 24(T 12 FF 22) HP 567/56 CMD 23 (27 vs. Trip/Bull Rush) CMB +11 FORT +8 REF +5 WILL +5 (+2 vs. Mind affecting) (+5 vs. Magic and Poison)

It doesn't really matter when you dip it always hurts a full caster. But I know where you're coming from. To me the Cleric Class feels kind of empty as basically all you have is full casting and Channel. Compared to the Oracle who has 4+INT skills and a way better skill list and equally powerful casting plus revelations (imo on a whole better than 2 domains) I feel like they could have at the very least allotted the Cleric a better list of Class skills.

If you want to pick up some extra skill proficiencies go for the additional traits feat, but really two skill proficiencies for a feat seems like a lame trade off.

If the DM allows it you might get more joy from rebuilding as an Oracle, also mechanically stronger for halflings.

Combat:
Insp. Courage (+2) shortbow +8(1d4+1), 19/x2 | Deadly Aim (-1,+2) | Cast Def. +9 | BoL 5/5, Agile 5/5

Nah. I actually like the flexibility of a cleric. That's not to say Oracles aren't fun. And Bruin is not exactly rocking the high charisma anyway.

I can just tough it out for now.
