Garran Fain wrote:I will be applying with this character. I'm pretty sure I need to redo his equipment for your rules, as well as feats. I did apply to DM waz up's CoCT game with him, but he hasn't posted in a while, so I'm not sure if he's still running it.
Some questions with what he's built with:
1) Background Skills?
2) Combat Stamina?
3) Advanced Armor Training/Advanced Weapon Training?1) not using background skills as specified earlier
2) I am not familiar with this system particularly, and as such, will choose not to use it in this campaign
3) This is acceptable, though can't be used until later levels.
Okay. Now I know how I'm going to tweak the character for your campaign. Thank you very much for your answers :).

2 & 3) The PFS pregen of Yoon, the Iconic Kineticist, has her as a small human, due to be young... asking since you seem to be using quite a few PFS rules.
^ as a side note, in PFS, minus the ability scores adjustment, small size due to youth comes with all the pros and cons, including reduced weapon damages.

I'm going to leave this here for you to peruse when you get back. Nicolai is a Human (varisian) Wizard (Diviner: foresight sub-school) who will be going for the Harrower prestige class.
Nicolai is currently built for another game recruitment (which included Background skills) but the GM is already 4 days past his recruitment deadline without a word.
If he is not selected, drop the Knowledge (religion) in favor of the Perform (oratory) and forget about the Profession (fortune teller) altogether.
Did he give you a Feat bonus also? Looks like there are three, but should just be two, right?
The rest of the build and the story work for me. Looks like you are the first arcane submission. Well done!
Get him cleaned up for my build rules if you aren't chosen in other game and/or make it that far.

DM DoctorEvil |

my apologies, the trait is called signature moves, here is the Link for it.
Its the trait I would prefer, just so the item can match its ornate appearance. If you think its too much thats fine though, could just be a fancy non-masterwork dagger, but it would be cool to have it made out of some weird material and be -special- in game.
mostly because I just realized that the material I had intended to use is actually a 3pp, called Umbrite, perhaps a bit too much.
of course I could easily take frost/fire-forged for it instead.
I'll allow this trait and for the weapon to be masterwork. But it won't be a special material. It's enough of an advantage over everyone else.

DM DoctorEvil |

Lots of dots, but only a handful of submissions so far. Here are the entries grouped by role. If I missed you, or mis-classified your role, LMK. Remember, I will be taking one from each of these and then a plus one.
Melee/Front Line/Damage Dealer
Nargun Firehelm - Dwarf Barbarian
Griar Brand - fishing aerokineticist (honestly don't know if this is the right category for kineticist?)
Arcane
Nicolai Fontescu - Varisian harrower
Divine
none
Skill
Atticus Fulvios - intellectual investigator
Hope to see at least a few more to fill out the party. Recruitment is open until next weekend or until I feel I have the right group. Keep them coming!
EDIT - Ninja'd by Griar, so posted edited to reflect his submission as well.

DM DoctorEvil |

I would like to submit this areokineticist for consideration. I've been wanting to play Curse of the Crimson throne for awhile.
I have the Guide to Korvosa book, so I know a little about the city.
Looks like a good submission. Haven't played with a kineticist before, so should be interesting. Tell me, what classification (of those in the post above) do you consider this? Not Divine and not skill-based really. I don't see their abilities as arcane either. I am lumping them in with damage dealers/front line for now.
Let me know if that isn't the best fit.

Kyoden Goju |

Ok, I believe I made the necessary updates in order to submit Kyoden. As many others have stated in this thread, he was originally submitted for DM Waz Up's game that has gone well past the recruitment date. If you notice any mistakes that don't match with your requirements, let me know and I will make sure to correct him.

This submission looks in order. Thanks! Probably including Vigilante in the "skills" subset of players. You ok with that?

DM DoctorEvil |

Prankster Bard Finneas Entwhistle, at your service
Looks fun. Haven't seen this build before. Make sure you have the right campaign traits. Those linked at first are the old 3.5 editions, and we need the new hardcover, which are linked later in this recruitment thread. The backstory needs to tie to whichever of those you select, so it might need some changing.
You are on the submission list.

DM DoctorEvil |

Ok, I think Derik is submission ready. although... If I can think up a good story, I might make a submission for a divine character instead... hmm.
A few questions: 1) are you half-orc or half-elf? It appears your stat block has both plus racial traits for half-orc. I think those are oversights, but please confirm. 2) What is going on with traits? You asked and built using a special weapon trait, but I don't see it listed. And there is no campaign trait.
Clean this up a bit and you can submit it, and then replace with a divine caster if you decide to go that route.

Mirela Wintrish |

If I may, I would like to submit Mirela for your consideration.
I know:
Slightly an unusual Cleric for a city campaign, but in my head, picking any religion that would have her stay in the city didn't make sense. After all if he's a crime boss, wouldn't he just have his escaped minion knifed as an example to the other Lambs? So I took her out of the city and now she's back to save it.
You should be able to get the general concept from this, but she's still a first draft, so if there are things you feel don't fit, I'm totally open to changing them.

Marius Calla |

Submitting Marius Calla, cleric of Shelyn, for your consideration.
Looks like his concept ended up a bit like Mirela, though I think they do diverge both in combat style and overall feel. A former Lamb escapes, becomes a cleric of some sort, decides to return to put an end to Lamm's depravity. It would be possible that the two might have even met at some point!
To echo Mirela's statement above, would it make more sense for Marius to have been quietly moved out of the city after escape? As it is I have him mostly staing with the Sanctuary of Shelyn with the occasional trip elsewhere, but I'm not sure just how far-reaching Lamm's tendrils are in Korvosa, and how likely it would be for one of his escaped Lambs to go unnoticed or otherwise unmolested while remaining in the city. If it makes more sense for him to leave the city, I don't mind changing it.
Thanks.

Garran Fain |

Okay, here is the submission of Garran Fain with the stats reconfigured for your campaign. I also submitted this character to the other game, so I'd like to leave the stats in the profile for that game. I included the updated stats in a spoiler for your game below. The backstory is unchanged.

I didn't miss it. Just didn't know there was any more to add. Submit it how you want.

thanks for submitting. This looks good on first review. You'll be the first divine character submitted. Looks like a second right behind.

Him being in the sanctuary makes sense to me. I think the priestess there could protect someone from Lamm.
This submission is accepted. Thanks!

Looks good. Putting you on the list of accepted submissions. I understand about holding out for the other game, so I won;t ask you to fix profile unless chosen for this one.

DM DoctorEvil |

Submitting Magnus here. Hexcrafting (though he doesn't know about the hex stuff yet) staff magus.
Info in profile.
How do you explain the witchcraft/cursing aspect of his magical nature? I didn't see it addressed in the backstory.
Do you want to go in Arcane slot or Melee/Front line slot? I'd lean towards the Arcane, especially since you are giving up armor and weapon training and add the witch hex abilities.

DM DoctorEvil |

Here are the updated submissions by category:
Melee/Front Line/Damage Dealer
Nargun Firehelm - Dwarf Barbarian
Griar Brand - fishing aerokineticist
Garran Fain - fighter; reformed criminal
Arcane
Nicolai Fontescu - Varisian harrower
Magnus Pale - hexing staff magus
Divine
Mirela Wintrish - expatriate Erastilan
Marius Calla - Shelyn musician
Skill
Atticus Fulvios - intellectual investigator
Kyoden Goju - the Oni, ninja-like vigilante
Finneas Entwhistle - prankster gnome
Derik the Rogue - half-elf with MW dagger
Apologies if I missed someone. Again, submissions are still open through the weekend.

My thought was that since he doesn't gain hexes until level 4 we could develop it as the character progresses. The white hair is the initial indicator, I figured it could be a bloodline thing (since he has no idea who his parents are) that develops as we go. Perhaps in dreams as his patron exerts influence.
I would welcome DM flavor if ya like to weave it into the story
Arcane works fine as I kinda like picking more versatile spells over 17 shocking grasps, yet a 2nd line melee is easy enough in a pinch.

'Jinx' |

Putting forward White Feather for consideration.
He was betrayed by Lamm as part of a failed business venture on the scounrel's part and left for dead.
White is a Shoanti Unchained Monk but not strictly a full front line fighter and I realise that because you specifically mentioned you wanted traditional roles, may rule him out straight away. But I still wanted to give him a shot anyway.
I think everything is up to date aside from his actual traits selections (campaign will be Betrayed of course)
Happy to answer any follow-up questions.
PS: Hi Helikon, good to cross paths again! I played Polo in the Walking Dead game we were in.

This might make some neat plot hooks.
Magnus' father is a minor member of the Korvasan gentry as well as a practicing (in secret?) witch. His mother was a maid within his household with whom he was having a dalliance. When she became with child he decided to allow her to come to term with the intention of sacrificing the bastard child to his patron.
Upon learning of his plan, Magnus' mother flees with him on tow. Unfortunately she is unable to survive the streets for long and Magnus ends in an orphanage after she passes. Eventually Lamm gets his hooks into him.
This leaves a few hooks with his father.
A. He could still be looking for Magnus to complete the sacrifice (maybe his patron is pissed)
B. He might have half siblings that could come into play if the crew interacts with the nobility.
C. Should his father/siblings pass he could stand heir to a nobole house, but can he find out and can he keep it from jealous rivals/relatives.
Just some thoughts that could come into play.

Sarabian |

Here is my submission for Giorgio Karakios; he was made for a prior CotCT game, where we made it just past the first couple of encounters (hence the extra equipment and level). I can easily adjust him back down to the appropriate level and gear for this game.

DM DoctorEvil |

It's been seven days past the deadline in the other recruitment thread without a word from the GM, so it's time to bail.
Here's Nicolai, rebuilt to your specifications.
Sorry about your other game. Thanks for updating him. You are the favorite in the arcane class at this point (since you're the only one).

I really like it. Thanks for the good backstory. He'll probably get lumped in with melee class, but i understand he's not the usual damage dealing tank, so there may have to be some combat support if he's chosen. I am adding White Feather to the list of accepted submissions.
Thanks!

Looks like a good submission. Traits, including campaign trait, need to be added but that looks easy to do. Explain the languages -- orc, halfling, don't necessarily fit the backstory.
Yes, will need to lower to level one and reset the gear if selected. I will add him to the divine slot, assuming you will make the changes indicated at some point.

How old would an Elven child be if they were the missing child aspect. I am thinking of using that as a shame for him (his trait)
Lost in his passion for knowledge and training in the way of his weapon, his progeny went missing due to his neglect. He has since spent his life searching for the child kind of background.

Also, I am wanting competent not optimized or min/maxed...is this too much?
I understand that everyone has their idea of broken so I wanna make sure I'm not overdoing it.
