Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

Sorry, my computer is giving me problems lately.
Take the first unique one.
1d6 ⇒ 6
1d6 ⇒ 4
1d6 ⇒ 4
Ugh... cleaning the bilges is bad enough...Killing whatever's in there makes my job a lot harder...

DM Davy Jones |

Tilly takes a look at the rum and realizes what it is. Her eyes widen slightly at the sight of the rum - genuine Hell's Harbor Infernal Black Rum, but she grinds her teeth - still annoyed by Nymph's actions the other day.
Tell ya what, you split that rum with me and maybe we can start over.
As you're about to respond Jack Scrimshaw shouts reach your ears.
Yeah, pretty sure that's the site - I'd been having problems all yesterday.
1d6 ⇒ 2 Wulf
Carthus is 5.
As you approach the bilges you realize it's a pretty tight space down there and you descend slowly in order to make yourselves fit.
You have time to retrieve any weapons from your personal gear that you've gathered or purchased, but not your original gear.
After a few of you descend into the bilges you all hear the nasty, scurrying sound of rats - familiar enough - but then you see something horrifying - filthy rats the size of a small dog. They have coats of coarse fur, long and scabby tails, and two glittering eyes apiece that look at you hungrily.
Initiative (Ayre): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Initiative (Carthus): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Initiative (Cordelia): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Initiative (Galean): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Initiative (Nymph): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Initiative (Wulf): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Initiative (Baddies): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Initiative (Baddies): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Initiative (Baddies): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Initiative (Baddies): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Initiative (Baddies): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Initiative (Baddies): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Heroes go first!

Aethelwulf "Wulf" Firebjorn |

Wulf draws a dagger from his bandoleer, moves to C9 and throws it at the rat directly in front of him.
"Freakin rats! I hate rats!"
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Wulf looks around to see if there are any more rats around. He fails to see anything and barely manages to reorient himself to the rats in front of him prior to his throw.
throw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Nymph |

Brightening at Tilly's response Scrimshaw's shouting cuts off a response of her own. Pushing the bottle into the other woman's hands she heads over to investigate the commotion, turning back to smile and wave at Tilly as she does.
"Ugh, me too." Nymph grumbles to Wulf and Rafter as she draws her brass knife and moves to the nearest rodent.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
And manages to swipe down into the creature.

Ayre |

Ayre 5 fts to D5 then fires a spear of wood
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
assuming that hits FF that rat is also now bleeding 1

DM Davy Jones |

Nymph and Tilly both kill their rats.
Nymph simply skewers her rat on her knife, but Ayre's spear of wood impales the creature into the wall of the ship - a sight profoundly disturbing to the rest of you.
1d100 ⇒ 25 The ship does not spring a leak

Yuki Okano |

Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Confirm Crit?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Moving clockwise to avoid AoO's to square G5, attacking rat in G4.
Careful to avoid giving the rats an opportunity to bite her, Yuki closes in next to the slayer and clocks the rat hard in the head with the end of her staff, "Carthus, right? You can borrow my quarterstaff for this if you want, I think you might be better at using it than me."

DM Davy Jones |

While Map 1 waits for Galean, Map 2:
Two of the dire rats die, leaving only one left.
It lashes out at Yuki.
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
It fails to bite home however amongst the filthy water of the bilges moving with the motion of the ship.
Ayre, Carthus, Yuki are back up.

Yuki Okano |

Yuki moves as necessary to try to put the hurt on the last rat, but, alas, the disgusting critter is too quick on its feet! She then holds the staff towards Carthus briefly if wants to take it.
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Nymph |

Yesh, otherwise Nymph will give you a spanking for slacking :3

Ayre |

Ayre fears he might hit a companion w a splinter so instead he calls upon his heritage and sends a jolt of electricity at the rat
1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 3 - 4 = 18 for 1d3 ⇒ 1

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

Sorry, busy day at work. You are free to bot me if it's too much trouble. I'll also not be able to post on Friday evening and Saturday morning, letting you know now.
Galean runs and tries to hit one of the dire rats F12, by conjuring a ball from his hands and tossing it in his direction. Since I didn't define spells today, I'll go with my usual selection, which is on the character sheet, if that's ok.
Snowball, touch, possibly FF?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
A massive ball, carrying the howling gales of the northern sea, and the smell of seaweed crashes into the rat, smattering murky water everywhere. The rat's guttural drowning noises carry for a while longer, it coughs a bit of water and stands still.

DM Davy Jones |

No worries - some of the PbP games I've been in stall and I can't remember whose turn it is, so I pop in every now and then in a lull and let people know what I'm waiting for.
Galean's snowball falls wide of the mark of the fast moving dire rat, which turns to attack you all.
The dire rats turn on Nymph and try to tear at her flesh.
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
They're a bit afraid of the scent of a skinwalker however and don't manage to land their attacks.
Lower deck crew go!

Aethelwulf "Wulf" Firebjorn |

Wulf throws another dagger at the nearest rodent.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The dagger goes wide of the mark and thunks into the deck of the ship.
"These things are a real freakin pain."

Nymph |

"Less gabbin, more stabbin!" Nymph growls out in annoyance as she slashes wildly, clearly not used to fighting Rodents of Unusual Size.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

DM Davy Jones |

Nah, no worries.
Nymph and Wulf embarrass themselves in front of the kid, while Carthus finishes off the last rat in the bilges.
Ayre, you can go upstairs to help, in which case you emerge at D8 in the Lower Hold or you can root around in the bilges for the items Rocky told you about.

Aethelwulf "Wulf" Firebjorn |

My mistake, thought we were finished with the GM's last post.
Wulf throws his third knife at one of the rats in front of him.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
....and misses again.....

Nymph |

Wiping her blade off Nymph collects the corpses of the rodents she sees so she can toss them overboard, better than letting the next person who gets the bilges have to deal with their stewing corpses. She also looks the area over for anything useful or valuable as well as any more hiding rats.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Yuki Okano |

Yuki will also look around the bilges, since you never know what you might find down at the bottom. "They said to be back in an hour, we got plenty of time to look around, you know?"
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
She, of course, finds nothing.

DM Davy Jones |

Yuki excitedly announces she's found a gold bar at the bottom of the bilge water, but when her hand comes up she discovers evidence that someone has done something unspeakable in the bilge water.
Ayre, you're able to locate the items Rocky gave you.
Appraise DC 20 to determine quality of the items
The 21 coins are all gold; the vial is made of glass and filled with a clear liquid - it appears to have the holy symbol of Desna worked into the side.
The bag is filled with a a mixture of goo and bits of rope and string - a tanglefoot bad. The sticks are tindertwigs, although you may need to dry them off.

Nymph |

Oh, my bad. Is there anything in the lower hold?

Nymph |

Nymph and Wulf embarrass themselves in front of the kid, while Carthus finishes off the last rat in the bilges.
Oh, this sentence confused me. I thought you were calling Carthus the kid. My bad.

Yuki Okano |

Yuki shrieks in disgust when she finds her treasure, probably misleading those in the lower hold on exactly what was in going on.
Does everyone in the bilges see what stuff Ayre is finding?

DM Davy Jones |

Since he didn't roll Sleight of Hand or Stealth, yes. Not that I imagine he'd hide it from you in any case.

Yuki Okano |

"Hey Ayre, if you don't want that buckler, I could really use it." Yuki notes nonchalantly as she washes off her hands with a judicious use of Create Water, "They stole the one I had."

Yuki Okano |

"The small shield that fits around your wrist." She explains with a shrug.
The DM mentioned it was down in the bilges last time Rocky looked, I assumed it was one of the objects found. If not, please disregard.

Ayre |

Oh sure, here. Give me a hand seeing how nice these things are...a second set of eyes can't hurt. asking Yuki for an assist on Appraise
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Yuki Okano |

Oh sure, no problem!" Yuki agrees happily to help Ayre look the objects over, "I wonder how all this stuff got down here. I probably don't want to know though."
Appraise (aid another): 1d20 ⇒ 20
I need to start getting these high rolls during the daily tasks.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

Galean begins looking around for anything that his companions may have missed. "They're not going to care if we take a couple of minutes longer. As much as I'd hate to stick here much longer, we don't wanna miss anything that could give us an edge later on, I think."
Taking 20 on Perception for 29

Nymph |

Sorry Raft, we still have rats on our level.

DM Davy Jones |

Now, Ayre, since when was I against you?
Yuki, as you search you determine that the handaxe is of masterwork quality - and you find in a crate packed with straw, where Rocky couldn't look, several extra items: a set of leather armor, three heavy maces and 12 sp.

Nymph |

Mucho gracias!

Nymph |

For when Nymph's turn comes back around.
"Isn't there supposed to be someone on pest control daily?" she continues to grumble as she swipes at the rat in front of her.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Better than a 3 I guess.
And proves that she has not been trained effectively in the secret art of Rodent Slaying by Knife.

Aethelwulf "Wulf" Firebjorn |

Can't open maps from my work comp.
Wulf draws his fourth dagger and moves up to the rat that has been evading his throws.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Wulf completely messes up the attack on the rat and drops the dagger while trying to slice at the rat.
"Hahahahaa, we completely cleaned the clocks of those pirates the other day; and now we can't even take out a few rats.... I don't know if this is funny or completely tragic. At least we haven't gotten the plague from them.... well not yet anyway.

DM Davy Jones |

Wulf, please roll Dexterity (DC 15) to determine if you do drop your dagger.

Aethelwulf "Wulf" Firebjorn |

dex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Woohoo! Didn't drop the dagger.
Although Wulf fumbles the dagger he manages to recovery it in something that looks a lot like one of his flurishes from juggling.
