Won't be able to post tomorrow morning, working from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. May be able to get something in when I come home, but have to do a bunch of stuff around the apartment too.

Question for DM
I really found your treatise on Infernal a good read. Very well thought of.
A player has asked me, "What's your take on Aklo?"
A little tidbit on Aklo,
Lovecraft scholars say Aklo is the language of the cultists and deep spawn.
Whats DMDM's take on Aklo?

Douglas Muir 406 |
Let's see. I wrote about Abyssal, "Abyssal grammar is very difficult. Lots of irregular verbs. (Actually, pretty much all the verbs are irregular.) On the other hand, it's an agglutinative language that allows a clever user to generate all kinds of neat neologisms on the fly.
"YMMV, but I imagine Abyssal as sounding rather slobbery, with lots glottal stops and labials and plosives. The vowel sounds tend to be long and drawn out. It sounds arrhythmic and gurgly. It's a great language for gloating, for evil monologues, and for mad, howling raving at the moon."
Okay, but Aklo is something else again -- still Chaotic Evil, but the language of Lovecraftian creatures. (It comes from a throwaway line in Lovecraft's story, "The Dunwich Horror". Which is a fine story, BTW.) I imagine it as sounding like the Language of the Dead from Stephen King's double novel Desperation / The Regulators -- simple, brutal syllables, each with multiple possible meanings.

1) Purchase a Lenovo.
2) Install your favorite linux distro.
3) Use your new laptop to write more about Nimpy/Irin/Dr. Moon.
4) ???
5) Profit.
I have had a Lenovo since 2008. It was top end then, now aging rapidly but still going strong; it will serve for another 2-3 years (until PhD is finished). Linux can extend the life of many older machines due to its low resource requirements.

When it comes to computers, I only have one word: MAC
Started with TRS80 color computer. Went to PCs for a few years. Got an Atari ST, undoubtedly one of the greatest home computers ever, with terrible marketing and no ongoing development. Went back to 15 years of headaches with PCs/Windows machines. Switched to Mac when I formed my own firm, and have spent perhaps 20 hours in 4 years rebooting my computer since then, versus perhaps 20 hours per month with PCs.

Xenfal |

If you bite the big one what are you making next?
Cleric of Asmodeus? Monk? Bad ass sorcerer?

Judge Tohram Quasangi |

Not sure. Sorcerer is an option. Perhaps a cleric of some sort. I would have to think on it. Still hoping that the Judge will luck out and not get wiped by the crazy Glasgow resident.

Judge Tohram Quasangi |

I was hoping he would have to beat my Bluff, not just a DC15. Oh well. So close to being undead.
So, what next. I really like the undead route, will have to see what DMDM wants.
Even worse, I was only 5 posts short of 2000 with this character, my highest by about 250. Although that character is also currently metabolically challenged and being carried around in a bag of holding that is going to need some serious cleaning when she is raised.

Cуровую зиму |

Maybe there is a way to bring the Judge back when we get to the Horn.
Or we can 'borrow' funds from the Baron.
Aren't we close to the point where if we gave up resources, or were clever, say allying, borrowing or robbing the Baron, where we can bring back a character?
As a player I am actually very :(
Would Cуровую casting Blood Transcription on the Judge be a proper way to honor him? He was morbid like that.
DM I have a question, in theory could the Judge play the Baron as a PC? They have similar inherent dispositions.
On the plus side, if the Judge wants to remain dead, instead of coming back to life then becoming ... undead, then DM Bref is just one player short of finally starting Jade Regent with Xen, the Judge and Morsum already around the game table.

Ulp |

We are level 6
But he is redead undead almost dead. Not sure raise dead works...
Also I think he is focused on me currently

Judge Tohram Quasangi |

Douglas Muir 406 |
Is the Judge dead? Yes, he is. He wasn't undead enough to not die, so he's dead.
Can he be raised? Well, you need a 9th level cleric and 5,000 gp plus whatever the cleric charges you. Are there any 9th level clerics back in Farhold? Try a Knowledge (local) check, or reread the Gazetteer. Might they be willing to help you, and if so, how much might they charge? See previous question.

At this point there may be an entire evil party wandering the forest.
That, or its time for the second round of our Knot to be formed!
Dren, maybe drop chain of perdition and try blinding him?
Cymu, could you use haste? Jax can get a full attack action next round even when not adjacent to the little beastie. Spell combat + bladed dash = make full attacks +1. Its essentially an awesome form of pounce!

Ulp |

Nah. It will fail the hold person or the poison save

Dren of the Dark Tapestry |

Yeah it seems like a little bit of a perfect storm, we can't roll well and he isn't missing any attacks. We don't have anyone in the party with really good perception so not being able to act in the surprise round really hurt us and of course the crit...

Judge Tohram Quasangi |

Not sure how we missed the back door out of the pile of rocks since I thought we had searched it before Morsum started ripping it apart. But, that is life, or in this case, death.
This guy is also a really high CR since on top of the base CR and feats he has Spring Attack and Improved Crit. Redcap's have a base BAB of +4 and Improved Crit requires +8 normally, so he has at least 4 fighter levels or more of some other class.

Well you better get in there quickly or we will all be dead. My guy can't hurt anyone and Grumbles will have a hard time hitting him and none of us can outrun him...except for the flying people. I guess you flyers could pull me along and I could levitate...
Hopefully his Haste will expire soon...hoping it was a potion so only 5 rounds.

Edmin Al'Roth |

Well I have been kicking around the idea of a ranger based off of Ingen Jegger from Tad William's Memory Sorrow and Thorn.

Edmin Al'Roth |

Well. I had hoped that an evil npc would have responded better to a strong forceful interaction. You know, more of a "Holy Shiza! That's one bad mutha trucker! I like him! He is going places!" Sort of a Drill Sargent type meeting, not a "His head would make a good soccer ball!" type meeting.

![]() |

Yeah. He was an interesting character, had lots of backstory, and was going places.
DM you can't say that without spilling the beans and giving the backstory.
Wow guys! I am sorry, that was one tough break!

Edmin Al'Roth |

Just in case:
HP
10 first level.
1d10 ⇒ 6
1d10 ⇒ 8
1d10 ⇒ 1take average=6
1d10 ⇒ 9
1d10 ⇒ 7
1d10 ⇒ 4take average =6
=42 base

Judge Tohram Quasangi |

Guess I need to figure out what I to play. Will think about it.
Abilities:
4d10 ⇒ (7, 6, 10, 9) = 32
Out of the house, but will look into classes later.

Jax Naismith |

So Edmin I don't know that reference that you made about a ranger. Who is he
Jax have you read stormlihht archive book 2 yet?
Got it the day it came out and read it in three days.

Jax Naismith |

I liked it a lot. While I didn't like that Kaladin felt a bit more..whiny, I feel the entire novel does a good job of showing the weaknesses of the main characters.
