Kyra Greenstar |
Mwa-hahaha! Mine is an evil laugh! Now diiiiiiiie!
Carilain Riveroak |
@ GM Striker: Those hooks in the other room. (Where we had the last fight.) Are they on chains? And could they be detached?
"Hmm... Fishing. Those things do seem a little fish-like. I wonder..."
With a thoughtful expression the elf adds. "You two may be on to something. If we could hook one of those and drag it up here, it would be lots easier to fight."
Kyra Greenstar |
On thick hemp ropes, you could easily cut one down and feed the Gars. Probably would work quite well actually they really only care about food. Yay for creative solutions. Though a morally ambiguous one.
Nonsense, we're helping the environment... or something like that...
Kyra Greenstar |
I forgot about all that butchered meat. I only mentioned the tiefling because I thought that's all we had available lol.
GM Striker |
It proves simple enough to hook large quantities of meat and lower them to the water. The cunning beasts are wary of the meat for only a short time before they quickly devour it.
Their appetites sated the dissapear upstream.
The way is clear.
The entrance to this small chamber sits a foot above the water level to the west. A thick layer of dust coats the rest of the cavern . Near the far wall sits an old wooden chest covered with dust and cobwebs.
Kyra Greenstar |
Is the room big enough for all of us? Or is it smaller?
Alesie Nori |
Alesie slowly approaches the wooden chest. watching out for giant spiders appearing out of no where.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 +1 if traps. Auto recieve additional check (secret GM check) if come within 10ft of trap. I've been through far too many empty rooms with a chest that have killed me to not be wary... Damn Rappan Athuk has taught me an empty room will always try and kill me. Always.
Alesie Nori |
Alesie is moving towards the chest when she notices a faint outline on the floor infront of her.
"Whoa... Trap!" she squeals, braking quickly.
she takes a moment to study the trap before trying to disarm it so they can safely reach the chest.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24
Kyra Greenstar |
You're a bad, bad man Striker lol! Alesie is going to have anxiety every time she opens a chest.
Thetin Dorvas |
"Stand back just in case the trap is still active." Thetin waits for everyone to step back then proceeds towards the chest.
Kyra Greenstar |
Kyra remains up top while some of the others descend into the watering hole and hidden room. She keeps her scimitar in hand, constantly watching every door, nook, and cranny with an almost paranoid eye. She suddenly notices her tension from the tingling that begins to radiate from the fingers on her sword hand. When she looks down, her knuckles are white from the tight grip on her hilt...
She takes a deep, steadying breath and holds it for a moment, then releases it slowly. She feel some of the tension leaving her shoulders and chest. "I've got to get out of this place..." she says aloud to herself.
GM Striker |
Treasure
Within the chest is a +1 light wooden shield, a ring of climbing, a scroll of identify, a scroll of magic fang, two potion of darkvision, and 250 gp.
H 13.
An old iron ladder, bolted into the wall and covered in rust, leads down a hole to the south of this foul-smelling room.
The remains of two dead rats lie in this room. It was clearly a nest at some time.
H 14.
A rusted iron door sits agar in the center of the eastern wall of this small chamber. A copper brazier hangs from the ceiling above a flimsy wooden table.
H 15.
This large chamber must have once been a cistern for the sewer system. Walls made of identical stone blocks hold up a lofty ceiling reinforced with elegant stone arches, while the center of the room contains a more recent-looking structure made of brick walls that reach from floor to ceiling.
Alesie Nori |
"Okay. Please say that is all with this horrible place." Alesie lets out with a sigh, glad she caught the trap before she was impaled yet again by something pokey.
She scrambles back up the rope to near Kyra.
"I think it's time to leave this place. Should we let Netherholm know it's clear?" Alesie asks disparagingly.
"I vote they find out when we don't return and we go to the surface now!" She adds hopefully.
Carilain Riveroak |
Carilain helps get the loot back up out of the water hole, then scrambles back up the rope.
"We may need to use Netherholm as a continuing base of operations, or at least maintain relations with them. Depending on how we find Kenabres..."
Carilain smiles tiredly. "I agree, we should press on to the surface, though. We need to find out what's going on up there. And these caverns do grow tedious."
Kelden Sunblade |
He had maintained a vigil above the drop with the rope, He was certainly relieved that everything went well.
"As much as I would love to feel the sun's kiss, it wouldnt be right not letting them know their flanks are secure, I could hurry back and return as you all press forward if haste holds your hearts. It should be safe enough down here but up there..."
Kelden began taking a deep breath and glancing above his head torwards where he felt the surface would be. They had been gone from Kenebras for three, four days? It was hard to tell beneath the surface here.
Alesie Nori |
Alesie lets out a little pout. "I know your right Kelden, but it's so close. Sigh, fine, back to Netherholm. Quickly."
Any objections to this just magically happening and be right back where we are so we can continue towards the surface? Not sure if anyone wants to RP telling Netherholm their enemies are dead.
Thetin Dorvas |
"I agree with Kelden, we should return to Netherholm to inform our allies. It will also be a good time to make any final preperations for the surface." Thetin however still looks towards the roof of the cave, a look of worry on his face.
GM Striker |
We can assume you use Lenn as a messenger. Kinda why he went with you...
Felling the closest to the surface you've been since the attack. You quickly begin to enter the brick structure, to discover it is some sort of maze. To your dismay the labyrinth seem to be occupied by some foul creatures!

Any Knowledge skill checks for info on the creatures?
Kyra Greenstar |
Thanks for the quick reply, Striker!
Knowledge: Planes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Kyra Greenstar |
Ugh... I had posted my actions on an edit and of course, wasn't fast. I lost the post, but had previewed my rolls. So let's see if they show up here... Weird. They did not. I'll repost the roll and see what happens. I had rolled a '1' on her Acrobatics check, so if it's different I'll still use the 1 I rolled earlier if you want, Striker. If not, just let me know if you would! I'll leave this post up until I hear from you.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Kyra Greenstar |
The one that shows is fine, looks like a 20 to me :)
Well hot diggity-dog! Thanks, Striker. I'll post my actions now. Likely Alesie, nor Carilain will move around to affect Kyra's actions!
Kyra gives a start when she suddenly sees the monster lash out at Alesie! She lithely dances forward around Kelden and Alesie, and slipping past the creature! (I'm assuming success on a '30' lol!) Flames lick along the edge of her scimitar as it opens a deep gash on the creature!
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Nice! This is a better result than least time... Acrobatics to move into position and avoid AoOs. Swift action to imbue blade with Arcane Strike. Attacking the whateveritis... The extra +2 damage is fire damage due to the crit!
Alesie Nori |
Alesie gives a startled cry as the creature lashes out at her, slicing her across the forearm. Not good, not good. She hastily attempts to dodge blows and get out from the seemingly vice-like position they have her in. Finding a more favourable position she attacks at the dretch with her rapier.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
To move through Carilains square without provoking AoO(s)
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 2 = 21
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
Did we ever get an answer from Thetin on that light wooden Shield. the +2 AC for Alesie would alter whether the damage from the dretch went through or not. At this point I'll assume that I'm not wearing it even if I do have it.
Carilain Riveroak |
Once again, Carilain lets his warhammer fill with arcane energy. He takes a swing at the twisted creature in front of him. (The one between Alesie and Carilain.)
Warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The hammer connects, but Carilain is off balance, he only delivers a weak blow.
Thetin Dorvas |
Thetin runs up and swings radiance at the nearest demon. possibly provoking a AoO
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 damn a natural one
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
GM Striker |
Carilain - Hits but the monster seems to ignore the light blow.
Alesie - Deftly moves and swings, the creature seems to shrug off teh worst of it though. 2 Damage
Kyra - Kyra swings her fiery blade but even the fire of the goddess does little against the abyssal spawn.
Kelden - Quickly realisex what these demons are. Dretch
Monsters - The Dretchs lash out with an unnatural fury.
Bite Vs Thetin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Claw Vs Thetin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Claw Vs Alesie : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Thetin -Swings at the beast but misses.
Alesie Nori |
"ummm... well that didn't seem to work very well. Anyone have any ideas?" Alesie cries as she feels the tip of her rapier barely enter the demons skin. Not sure if we are assuming Kelden explained the demons to us in 6 seconds...
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 2 = 19
Dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
Again the rapier is barely able to puncture the skin of the foul creature.
Kelden Sunblade |
His mind wandered over the foul creatures for a moment, his studies playing out before him in his mind...His eyes widened and his expression took a grim note. Dretches! Low demons indeed in the scheme of things, Weapons of cold iron, or good aligned magic work best... "
He called out aware that he held no such items. He took a measured swing, difficult as it was with the corner there.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Kyra Greenstar |
Kyra stares in shock at how little damage her powerful attack dealt to the creature! Kelden's words bring the dervish back to her senses! 'Demons! Of course!' She had no weapons of cold iron, save for some arrows in her quiver, but those would not work... 'The dragon scale!'
Kyra reaches into her bandolier and quickly removes Terendelev's scale. With a thankful blessing she imparts the dead dragon's power into her blade, which begins to glow with a slight golden light...
Movement Action to retrieve a stored item. Standard Action to activate Terendelev's Scale and cast Align Weapon "Good" on Kyra's scimitar. Next round, it's game on suckah!
Striker, what kind of action would it be for Kyra to toss the scale over to Kelden and for him to catch it?
Carilain Riveroak |
Carilain decides to hold position for just a little while. He is thinking about moving away to try his cold spell, but there is nothing 'good' about it. It's just a spell.
Carilain decides to hold his ground, fighting defensively, for the moment.
Fighting defensively: +2 AC; -4 To hit.
Flanking w/Alesie +2
Warhammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Alesie Nori |
"Damn it this rapier is useless." Alesie cries, stabbing at the creature one more time, her rapier bouncing uselessly off its armored flesh. If only I had more space, I have cold Iron arrows in my bag. This is not good, oh goddess protect me.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
Kelden Sunblade |
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Again Kelden tried to slash hard at the demon between him and Kyra, his care at trying to avoid interfering with Thetin kept his blow from being anything near effectual. He could hear Alesie's complaint about her rapier and he frowned. He too wished his sword was made from cold iron. He wanted to chastise himself for traveling this far from home to fight demons and the like in the worldwound without the foresight to procure such a weapon. . .
"Do you still have the chief's magic morningstar Alesie?" He called out watching the dretch intently waiting for the precise moment to strike again.
I think it was mentioned that since Thetin has the palahammersword that we gave that back to you, i think right? Its at least a +1 more to damage right?
Thetin Dorvas |
Thetin curses his poor aim and swings again at the dretch in front of him.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
With a triumphant cry Thetin slams radiance into the demon.
GM Striker |
Thetin's blow surprises the creature and it maintains its full attention on the Paladin.
Bite Vs Thetin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Claw Vs Thetin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Claw Vs Thetin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Angered at being pricked in such sensitive spots the demon focuses on the small women, relishing the chance to tear her supple flesh.
Bite Vs Alesie : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Claw Vs Alesie : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Claw Vs Alesie : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Kyra Greenstar |
Round 3
Now that her weapon enchanted to properly deal with the dretches, Kyra gives herself over the dance, swaying to the sounds of Sarenrae's song... She twirls around, her blade dancing and cutting into the monster's body.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Crit Confirm!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Crit damage: 1d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14
Pretty sure a 12 does not hit, but just in case I went ahead and post her crit damage as well. And along that line of thought, holy crap! Two crit threats in a three rounds??? Where were these rolls a while ago when we were getting stomped by everything lol!
Alesie Nori |
Alesie muffles a cry as the dretches claws bite into her side. Oh goddess I hope that's not poisoned or something vile like that.
Recognizing that her rapier isn't doing the damage it needs to, Alesie drops it to the ground, pulling out the morningstar given to them by sull.
We did promise to shed some demon blood with this thing...
Mace: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16
dmg: 2d8 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 7) + (6) + 2 = 16
Kelden Sunblade |
a sign maybe? *Lawls* good hit girls!
Kelden heard Alesie's muffled cry and for a moment his blood went cold. Seeing the flash of Kyra's scimitar as it struck the Dretch he moved forward doing his best to slide past Thetin, then Caralain.
Hold On Alesie, Im coming!" He began Not worrying about the chance on of the dretch's seen him hurrying past to reach the elf maid's side. Assuming I make it through He chanted and called to his goddess to help shield his comrade in arms from further harm until he could trade places with her.
Im pretty sure i just provoked from both Dretches...
Casting Shield of faith and using it on Alesie. Have a +2 bonus to ac (deflection) and no... you dont have to trade places if you dont want too. Mostly i wanted to get over through the bottleneck there
