Exposed to AwfulnessWhen you were a child, you were nearly slain by a demon that managed to make its way through the wardstones into the lands beyond. The demon was slain before it could kill you, but you lingered at death’s door in a coma for weeks before waking. Ever since then, you’ve been unusually hale and hearty, as if your body had endured its brush with awfulness by becoming supernaturally fit. But still, the scars (whether physical or purely mental) of your brush with death remain, and nightmares of what could have happened often plague your sleep. Something, be it your own personal force of will, some strange “infection” from the assault, or perhaps a combination of both, has made you stronger than before. You’re not sure what to make of the theories that you survived this exposure to awfulness because you yourself have some trace of demonic heritage that helped give you the advantage you needed to survive—but whatever it was, you’re glad for it! Your strange resistance to demonic attacks persists to this day. Once per day when you fail a saving throw against an effect created by a demon that would kill or physically incapacitate you, you can immediately reroll that saving throw as a free action. You must take the second result, even if it is worse.
Special Abilities Smite Evil (1/day), Aura of Good, Detect Evil (At Will), Daylight (1/day), Skilled (+2 Diplomacy and Perception), Divine Grace, Lay on Hands
Thetin was born to an Aasimar Paladin and an Aasimar Cleric, both members of the Order of the Nine Moons. Due to this Thetin traveled around Kenabres with the his parents and the Order. The Order, whose members were all descendants of outsiders, patrolled some of the more dangerous areas near the wardstones due to their celestial or demonic gifts. When he was young demons broke through the wardstone near where the order was camped. During the attack a Demon broke through the orders lines and into the camp. An order Paladin, seeing the demon duck into a tent, gave chase. Upon entering the tent the Paladin found the demon standing over an injured and unconscious Thetin. The Paladin quickly dispatched the demon but it seemed like it was to late to save young Thetin's life. At that very moment however Thetin's celestial blood awakened saving Thetin's life. Weeks later, Thetin awakened to find that his blonde hair gleamed like polished metal and his eyes had turned sapphire blue.
Shortly after his recovery Thetin was sent off to begin his training as a Paladin. Swearing himself to Torag Thetin quickly began to prove himself an extraordinary Paladin trainee. After over a decade of training Thetin gained his Paladin-hood and returned to Kenabres to rejoin his family in the Order of the Nine Moons and to further himself on the frontlines of the Wardstone.
Upon returning to Kenabres Thetin was immediatly recognized by the Order for his Sturdy nature and set to be raised from a mere recruit to an initiate during the ceremonies the week before Armasse. Which is how he has ended up in his current predicament.
Thetin is a very large man, 6' tall with broad shoulders. He has blonde hair that hangs past his ears that shines like freshly polished gold and sapphire blue eyes. His armor is emblazoned with the symbol of the Order of the Nine moons on the back and a symbol for Torag on either shoulder.
