SECTION TWO: Strolling through the Howlings
The winter portal has closed, but the heroes now find themselves trapped in the frozen land of Irrisen with an urgent quest—to find Baba Yaga! In order to track down the missing Queen of Witches, the heroes must brave the monster-infested capital city of Whitethrone, where Baba Yaga’s Dancing Hut has been captured and put on display. Will possession of the miraculous artifact lead them to the Witch Queen, or will they die a cold death at the hands of Irrisen’s White Witches?

I've listed what's magic because i presume a detect magic will be used eventually. spoiler tags below once you have time to identify them.

you clearly can't carry all this gear ( unless you saddle up a few horses and a sled maybe. but they're pretty clearly Irrisini guard gear, hard to 'sell' around here ) just listing it all for completeness. if you wanna try and take it all later, figure out a way.

by now you're all able to spot the potions of endure elements and cure light wounds on these guards, you're used to the look / smell / packaging.

things of other note:
Yana carries in her beltpouch a perfectly clear crystal, like an egg sized chunk of quartz. floating within the crystal is an oddly large snowflake that just seems to pulse with icy energy.

k. arcana DC 26 or spellcraft DC 21:
a magic key attuned to an Ice Crystal Teleport spell

2 of her bolts have small blue ribbons tied around their stock, and radiate magic

2x Bolts w/ streamersspellcraft DC 20:
+1 screaming bolts

Elixir - spellcraft DC 17:
an elixir of interrogation. you force a subject to imbibe it, they get a save, you can then ask them questions, and they can answer or the elixir will damage them. they're not compelled to tell the truth, but the pain gives a -4 on bluff checks to lie. its an evil act to use on an unwilling victim.

Mirror - spellcraft DC 20:
an attentive mirror. likely attuned to the witch of this tower, they allow emergency communication with the mirror's owner, functioning like a mental alarm spell. once alerted the witch can send aid or cast mirror sight to view the situation or receive a minion's report directly by reading lips. you can spend an hour gazing into the mirror to re-attune it to a new owner.

If the bolts count as weapon or armor I automatically succeed.

sure. it then works if you give it to someone, they can stare into it and activate the mental alarm.

the bolts are a weapon, so go ahead and peek at those. i misspoke in the spoiler for them that they're +1. they're +2.

ten-penny doesn't find anything spectacular on Volan's body, but does recognze the elixir, and another attentive mirror. the captains/commanders/sergeants of the white witches guards seem to all have them.

Updated my character. Clerics are boring to level, especially on even levels. HP goes up, BAB goes up, saves go up, a stat point, some extra spells, and 1 skill point. Hooray. Put it in Diplomacy. I'll try to be party face. >_>

Ten-Penny has been lvl'ed.

Short summary: Rogue talent: Weapon Training for Weapon Focus (Short Sword), Debilitating Injury came online (description in her profile), Dex +1 for DEX 20, Uncanny Dodge gained.

Skill Points: +1 in Acrobatics, Bluff, Disable Device, Perception, Stealth. +2 in Intimidate and Linguistics. Figured someone has te learn how to speak Skald, and since we have Nadya present, she could teach me. Also took Sylvan (Gondork can teach, and probably is an eager teacher...)

Then on another note. How do you guys split the loot (especially valuebles). I started with some own stuff, but was never present when you did this before.


Basically our generous GM kept track of our findings and converts everything into a monetary value, we get an even share. If there's a cool bit of loot, you can "buy" it from your share of the money. Basically, everything's split evenly, and if you want some gear, you'll gain less gold. If it's confusing, look back into this discussion thread, we've done this before. Page 5 has a good example.

Gondork is leveled as well, getting Mirror Hideaway and Create treasure Map as spells, as well as power attack.


You're really going for Treasure Map? It was a joke, but I like it. :D Though wouldn't something like See Invisibility be more useful? They're both rather situational spells.
Just suggestions, do with it what you want, it's your character.


Also, I took a look at your profile, you seem to have two first-level Transmutation spells (Lead Blades, Feather Fall), but no Divination spells.

Ah, right, changed feather fall to heightened awareness.

As for my second level spells; as long as you all are willing to crawl into a mirror with me I think it can be very useful. Create treasure map I did because you told me so but if Griffin Master could shine some light on its future usefulness that'd be nice.

well not auto-found, i just checked that the intention was to search a room and rolled the perception checks, so far you've gathered everything. treasure map would be handy in getting the key from the witchcrow, if you had its body. sounds situational only to when you kill something before you can figure out where it nests =/


Or if we beat up some thugs and we wanna find their life savings. There are about 20 people in this tower that don't need their piggy bank anymore, I reckon. >_>

Gained +8hp, +1 bab, +1 to Ref and Fort saves, 7 skill points, a 1 point bump to Dex score, and Hunters Bond (allows allies in 30 ft to gain +1 vs. my Favored Enemy).

yeah sure, you can find one in one of the rooms i'm sure, there's lots of mirrors around. most big hangy ones. the problem with carrying a mirror big enough for a halfling to crawl into though is usually not breaking it while adventuring. its not a gentle life.


Time to buy a Mirrored shield somewhere!

Mostely why I brought it up. I myself am more interested in the AC items. But I don't want to "claim" them, so I ask if someone contests them.

Although my Will is low, that is a Rogue thing I have already accepted. I would only like the Cloak if nobody else wants it.

there's two cloaks. so unless there's more who wants them, thats easy enough. the system also breaks at large value single items. so i don't include them if they're astronomical, since you'd first need to sell it to really get a share of it each. ( speaking of the 90k gp ring of regeneration )

ok, with the vault, the final total for the pale tower:

in immediately divvyable goods (objects of art & coin)
8,417gp (1,683gp split five ways)

in mundane gear which you'll have to sell first to appreciate (and is quite burdensome, considering the physical weight of it, and that you probably won't even be able to sell the winter guard's gear for even half price)
3,289gp (657gp split five ways)

in magic gear
32,153gp (6430gp split five ways)

so far there's interest in the cloaks of resistance, and the amulet and ring. the total five way split will be 8,770gp ( 1,683 in coins/collectables, 657 in gear, 6,430 in magic gear )

For now until you can get to a settlement, and sell off things, you can claim items you want, if it goes unclaimed, then it'll be sold at the next settlement for gold. since you only pay the sell price when claiming it, anything you decide you don't want later, you can sell for the same amount in gold

i.e. if you wanna carry around an attentive mirror for now, and use it, you can deduct 900gp ( the sell value of one mirror) from your shrare. if at some point decide its not handy, and want to sell it, you sell it for 900gp ( half the list price of 1,800gp, like a normal sale )

anything else you want, just post a "claim post" here in the discussion, and put what you want in a quote box w/ the cost. If you all decide you want Nadya to have a percentage or some items, we can figure that out. as is, i divvy'ed it 5 ways between the party.

* i was just keeping the liquid assets, and magic gear separate from the much heavier mundane gear. if someone for example takes a 8,350gp axe, that plus whatever coin adds up to 8,770gp is prettymuch their share. if you want to designate anything as community property (like the bag of holding), i'll remove it from the share calculation as you won't be selling it. if someone wants to keep the bag as "theirs" and allow the group to put things in it, thats fine, it stays as an item claimed by that player

mostly. its capacity is 500lbs. so it'd ^just^ hold the silver trade bars alone. i think the odd rule of thumb is about 50 coins / pound as well. i think that's what i use when i eyeball wealth weight

i see a few things that could be useful for caladan to hold onto, some scrolls and stuff. will nab those for him , at least until we can move somewhere to sell things.

The magic gear chunk of change goes from 6,430gp to 5930gp, excluding the bag of holding from the loot.

Everything else will be in the bags / crates / gear that you load on to the sleigh.
