I was going to take a run at Dame-what's-her-name-who's-almost-as-tall-as-Sara, but I'm not sure if that's still warranted or needed?

I think its still needed, or she just needs to be watched. Lotheed said she thought the Dame-Tall-Person would 'try something' later on. Another event maybe?


You can make discovery or influence checks against her now if you wish, but at the moment you have just been asked to keep an eye on her, which doesn't take an action.

There are also more letters to deliver, or helping to discover Countess Pace's loyalties, or spying on Pythareus when Sara is done flirting with him.

A Bluff or Stealth check can learn Pace's weakness.


16 is a success if you are using Bluff to learn Pace's weakness, Zileska. Is that what you want to do or do you want to antagonize Dame Trant?

I'm trying to focus on Pace, I think? I remember one of them was on our goal sheet and not figured out yet, but I don't remember which. And I have to rewrite my approach with respect to Pace, if it's her.

Sorry, but I'm confused again. I don't know if my earlier Bluff was supposed to be a Discovery check, or if it was just some kind of circumstance bonus? I don't know what I was supposed to do.


The first Bluff check was used to discover her weakness, granting you a +4 bonus on all influence checks from there on out. Without somebody succeeding on a discovery check (Knowkedge nobility or Sense Motive), you don't know for sure which skills can be used to influence her. I assumed you were guessing and using Bluff. If you want to edit your action, you may. I know trying to learn new subsystems can be confusing.

I can't make a DC 10 Knowledge (nobility) check untrained, so I'm back to untrained Sense Motive.


You could also wait for somebody else to attempt the discovery check and inform you which skill to use before taking your action for the round.

I will be taking Athletic Champion, bonus going to Perception and Diplomacy, with my notability being flavored not as athleticism but as being in the eye of polite society and then of course my trial.

Alternatively, I could take Rising Star as I originally intended, but that would require Hare to still be alive (which he very well might be regardless of whether or not I take the trait) and for the DM to be willing to add that aspect into RP, I wouldn't want to waste the opportunity. My crafting kit would be for bone harvesting and scrimshaw.

That said, I do like these traits quite a bit.

On that note - a call for advice.

I'm having a really hard time working out how to gear Melodie for combat. I know I need something but I can't decide whether to take a sword cane and weapon finesse, a hand crossbow and point blank shot, or something else and maybe use my feat elsewhere...

I have the 200gp gift from Child of Oppara and some other money available - so if people have suggestions please let me know! (All my previous mesmerists have been much more practical than Melodie so weapon choice has never been a problem!)


Only Zileska is in the gallery at the moment, Sara. Maria is in the servant area and Melodie is on the senate floor.

You could ask Martella to send them messages through the senate aide badges to meet you outside the ballroom if you want.

Courtyard: Handle Animal, Knowledge (engineering, local, or nature), or Perform (keyboard, percussion, sing, string, or wind).

Archives: Knowledge (arcana, geography, or history), Linguistics, Profession (librarian or scribe), or Stealth.

Servant Area: Craft (alchemy, carpentry, jewelry, sculpture, or stonemasonry), Heal, Intimidate, Profession (baker, butcher, cook, innkeeper, or porter), or Sense Motive.

Zileska, you can use your previous roll for your Perception check and just apply the modifier for the relevant skill of your choice.

HI Brainiac - Quick question.

Child of Oppara says I get a single 200gp NONmagical item. I was hoping to use it to get Sleeves of Many Garments, since it seems like just the sort of thing any fashion conscious noble would have for emergencies! Obviously however its magical. Is that a problem? I don't mind changing it for something else :)

Maria, I agree that the old art of Stavian made him look like a creep! The cover art for this adventure also makes him look pretty creepy as well. O.o

He looks pretty high as well, but that might just be the pipe.
