It seems most of you are more inclined to hunt boars. Is this the final decision?
I think we'd like to do both, if possible. Can we only do one?
Calvin Shoals |
Oh! Derp. All I've got is that spear I got from the beginning, so I guess I'ma spear chucking.

Moving this from gameplay:
Just to be clear, it's 300 gp in items total. So with Gideon and Calvin's order, you'd only have enough left over for one potion of cure light wounds.
For the record guys, an acid flask is almost as good as alchemist's fire and costs half as much. So for splash weapons we should mostly buy those, and only get one or two alchemist's fires for enemies that are immune to acid.
Tanglefoot bags are good but my shadow trap spell does the same thing, basically.
Other suggestions:
* Air Crystals (50 gp each)
* Smelling Salts (25 gp per vial)
* Alchemical Solvent (20 gp)

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope everybody's recovered from their gluttony-induced comas.
The alchemical solvent is a good idea; I had forgotten about that stuff. Yeah, your shadow trap spell does do the same thing, but I think it'd be good to have those in the wings so that you don't have to be burning through spells as quickly.
CLWs are always a good idea, of course; didn't even think about those. If those are potions that can be created with the ingredients we found, definitely a few of those.
Otherwise....what about one tanglefoot bag and one antitoxin (100), four alchemist's fire (200), 2 alchemical solvents (240)...from there, maybe a smelling salt and some acid or two smelling salts and one acid? All just suggestions of course.
Weyve Murkwater |
...four alchemist's fire...
Overall fine with your list, but like I said earlier, alchemist's fire and acid basically do the same thing and we can buy twice as much acid as alchemist's fire with the same money. So we should get like 8 acid flasks for 80 gp and then 1 alchemist's fire for 20. Or something like that.
You can also use acid for things like eating away at fine metal components in a lock and stuff like that.
Gideon Ross |
I'm fine with getting more acid flasks than alchemist's fire as long as we still get say, two of them, and replace the other two with 5x acid flasks or whatever else we decide to get. That would at least see us having a little bit of potential fire damage should it be necessary at some point.

Guys... I've been thinking that we need to be using the wands of color spray and flaming sphere more. These are both good spells that will become fairly useless after we get a few more levels.
Maybe Gideon should take the color spray wand, and I'll hang on to the flaming sphere one.
Gideon Ross |
I think that's a good idea. If we decide to do that, then I'll add them to my inventory list so I won't forget it again. Heck, I'll put it on my profile by-line. Honestly, I keep forgetting that we even have them, but using them would make fights like this a great deal easier, no doubt.
Even so, I think we need to rest. I've only got one spell left, and two more uses of Archaeologist's Luck, so my limited use abilities are on the verge of tapped out.
Weyve Murkwater |
How many charges does the color spray wand have?
12 charges. We haven't used it yet.

Whoo! I'll update my sheet as soon as I get home from work. Don't have access to HeroLab when I'm here. Does the colony have anyone who can cut or fashion gemstones? That seems like another skill that Gideon could pick up since there is likely to be a source of gems not too far away.

Isn't your hit die a d8? If so this should be 5+1=6.

Whoops! You're right! I actually think I did that for level 2 also...I'll check it when I get home and correct it if I've got it wrong.
On an unrelated note...It's finally Last Jedi day! Woo!!
Gideon Ross |
So...I'm not so dark side as to post spoilers on here. Just gonna say that I loved Last Jedi. I think fans of the series are either gonna love it or hate it. Not gonna be a lot of neutral ground. Out of the ten people I saw it with, only one person hated it, though. Everyone else thought it was awesome.
Weyve Murkwater |
Doubt I'll see it this weekend, but maybe. Otherwise it likely won't be until Christmas or the day after.
Calvin Shoals |
I'll have an opinion tonight, but I'm avoiding potential spoilers for the movie until tonight.
Calvin Shoals |
Watched it friday! It was a whole lot to take in, and I liked it even though I got stuck in the very first row so my perspective was kinda off. Overall, I greatly enjoyed it and I think some things that happened during it were very necessary.
Gideon Ross |
I managed to go see The Last Jedi on Saturday.
LOVED IT! I thought it was exactly what the franchise needed.
It's so interesting to me how there are so many diverse opinions about the movie. I was really into it, too, and I saw it with about nine or ten other friends who all liked it to varying degrees, save for two guys.
One of them liked the movie but didn't know how he felt about the changes to the traditional cinematography and editing from the originals, and the other hated it with a passion and said the movie actually made him feel sick; that he liked Jar Jar Binks better than this movie.
Also, Brainiac, if it's alright with you, may I swap my 3rd level feat from Precise Shot to Lingering Performance? That was what I'd intended to get all along, I just forgot when I went to pick it out in Hero Lab. I changed my character sheet to reflect the swap, but I wanted to make sure you were ok with it before leaving it that way.

Just an FYI guys:
Holiday Plans:
This Friday (i.e. tomorrow), Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I have Christmas events to attend (and I may be busy Tuesday too). I will be travelling for some of that period. I still expect to have internet access and I'll try to get online in that period but my posting frequency may suffer. Wednesday night I will be back home and things will return to normal for me.
Calvin Shoals |
I will wait till someone with K:Arcana rolls, cause I don't wanna waste my turn going OMGWTFBBQ! if I could instead be, I dunno, climbing a palm tree.
Weyve Murkwater |
I don't have K: Arcana.
None of my summons will do much against swarms besides providing a decoy for it to chase.
We did buy a bunch of acid flasks, though, right?
