You know what's hella confusing? In our tabletop campaign (thanks to Covid, now a vtt game) my character is also named Vlad because it's just such a good Varisian name. There's some serious cognitive dissonance for me when I see Vlad in combat here.
I can see how that can be problematic. :)

The kingdom sheet says we're in Erastus (July), but somehow it snowed a bit last night. This would make sense because we've had four months of building, and started in the Spring.

Hi, all! DM Bloodgargler has given me permission to ask if anyone is interested in a new campaign I'm going to be running. I like to reach out to players I already know before I open up to general recruitment.
The campaign will be set in an existing Kingmaker kingdom but the PC party won't be the rulers of the land. Instead, the PCs will be adventurers and problem solvers hired by the NPC rulers to do missions as they come up. The game will deal with content from outside the Kingmaker AP but the setting will be based on a Kingmaker kingdom and near the land of Brevoy. If you join, you won't be playing overlapping material with this game.
If you're interested in a new game, the Discussion thread is open to talk about concepts. There's a ton of lore and background on the Obsidian Portal page, too, if you want to take a look at that.
The game is Level 6, 25 point buy.

Apologies for bailing at the end of combat. Friend of ours landed in the hospital and it has been a saga.
I have to go to the doctor today and there's a chance I'll wind up in surgery. If so, I may be out for a few days (assuming I survive, of course, there's always the tiny chance of something going wrong).

That's a good question.
We hadn't heard from him in quite a while in the other game of his that I'm in either, long enough that one of players very recently took over in order to keep the game going.

Yeah, bummer on this one. I loved the laid-back atmosphere of it.
I've played or run Kingmaker 5 times now and none of them have gone past the second mod. Which is a shame, because there's a great story there if you focus on the kingdom politics (or do a lot of work to shoehorn in the secret main villain).
I've prepped various KM games so many times I could probably pretty easily take this game over as DM if you guys want to keep playing your PCs and don't mind a change in DM.

Vlad actually runs a separate KM game in which I'm a player and I spend a lot of time mulling over the kingdom-building stuff. I suspect some people get kinda lost in the scope and in the transition from "explore a hex each day as you adventure" to "switch back and forth between adventuring for a week and managing politics for a week."
Well, why not? Let's see how far we can go eh?

You're good, I'll just pick up from where we were. Mal is still there but he's not going to do anything, and then he'll just be a background councilor once you get back to town.
Can anybody refresh my memory- the map has a marker called "Drake's Lair" but I can't find any posts involving a drake. Did the group find/fight a drake at any point?
No drakes that I am aware of, just the tatzlwyrms. I vaguely remember those hexes being added to our map after helping out Tiressia with the scythe tree, but I could be wrong.
OK, and are we exploring the hexes (2 days/forest hex) or just moving through them (8 hours/forest hex) as you follow the troll trail?
Looking at the map, I think the intent is to have the party currently in I2, so the group will only be moving 1 hex to a spot near where I1 and J1 meet, so either 2 days to fully explore let's say I1 or 8 hours to travel while following the trail.
I would say we continue to explore. What do the rest of you think?

Longtime no see. Indeed the game is still alive, but at a slow pace and with a different DM as Bloodgargler seems to have disappeared.
