DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Because I can't remember or find the rules for squeezing, I have displaced people a little from their nominated squares. Tun'ada will need to use his longspear to attack this round, or a ranged weapon.
Apparently not particularily slowed by the disgusting fungi, the violet fungus drags itself forward by using its tendrils to pull itself towards you and moves to threaten Mawj, Marcus and Chi. Pulsing bright red for just a moment, one of its tentacles lashes out at Marcus, but his defensive efforts keep the tendril from piercing his armour.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Tun'ada |

Not quite sure why Tun'ada is "big" already, Enlarge Person has a 1 round casting time and shouldn't take effect until Chi's turn next round.
Unable to do much other than stab at the fungus with his longspear, Tun'ada rages and lunges at the fiendish creature with the weapon...
Longspear:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage:2d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 5) + 9 = 19

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Not quite sure why Tun'ada is "big" already, Enlarge Person has a 1 round casting time and shouldn't take effect until Chi's turn next round.
Because DM makes mistakes frequently when hes in revision mode ;).
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Fixed Damage.
Will update with a new round after my exam tomorrow morning. Once its done i'm finally done with this degree (touch wood).

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Thankfully not a connotation that has been particularily successful in crossing the channel to english lingo.
For clarity, Tun'ada did attack with the longspear.
Mawj scores a minor graze on the mushroom with an arrow, while Tun'ada, confident from Gwenyth's spell of protection on him, plunges his Longspear straight into the fungus' cap, causing gray fungal matter to splatter all over himself, Marcus and Mawj.
Battle for Silent Island
Round 2-
Ordered Initiative-
Vegepygmies (acted)- 20
Ambroze- 17
Marcus- 17
Gwenyth- 15
Mawj- 12
Chi- 10
Shroom- 9
Tun'ada- 5
Map-
Sorry I took some severe liberties with your movement while herp derping somewhat trying to update mid revision. Shouldn't happen again.
Notes-
The red halo is for badassness, but the blue and orange halo's are just to make denoting targets easier for you. Note that although the mushroom is a medium sized plant, it has ten feet reach with its tendrils.
The sheer concentration of foul fungus means that every square in the cave is difficult terrain.
Active Effects
The archivist and any allies within 30 feet gain a +1 insight bonus to AC and on attack rolls and saving throws against exceptional, supernatural, and spell-like abilities used by creatures of that specific kind of monster. Violet Fungus.
The two vegepygmies move to protect the mushroom, one lunging at Tun'ada and another at Mawj, using the reach of their longspears to their advantage. Tun'ada takes a nasty gash on his arm but Mawj's new armour protects him from the point of the spear he failed to dodge.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Hit vs Tun'ada
1d4 ⇒ 2
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Miss vs Mawj

Chi T'reignial |

Chi tosses her flask of plant killer at the purple mushroom, watching as it breaks, sending the contents flying everywhere. She then moves back (5ft) and looks for a flask of oil in her back pack.
Plant Killer splash touch attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 includes archivist bonus.
Plant Killer damage 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 + 1pt for plants within splash range.

Marcus Alanto |

Thought the second para would apply.
If you shoot or throw a ranged weapon at a target engaged in melee with a friendly character, you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll. Two characters are engaged in melee if they are enemies of each other and either threatens the other. (An unconscious or otherwise immobilized character is not considered engaged unless he is actually being attacked.)
If your target (or the part of your target you're aiming at, if it's a big target) is at least 10 feet away from the nearest friendly character, you can avoid the –4 penalty, even if the creature you're aiming at is engaged in melee with a friendly character.

Chi T'reignial |

Delaying is irrelevant, as your threatened by the creatures you are in melee anyway (-4 to Chi's throw).

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

** spoiler omitted **
Ok, no -4 to fire into melee in this instance. My front door is almost totally obscured by a huge pile of bricks and a truck, so I feel under siege right now grrrrrrrrrrrr. Only the world's worst landlord would schedule heavy building work directly in the middle of exam period on a student house.

Mawj |

Mawj and Uli ride to the attack. "Woolooloo!"
Move 5 feet south. Attack G6.
Horsebane; Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28, Damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Uli bite; Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7; trip 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Critical Confirmation
Horsebane; Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16, Damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Marcus Alanto |

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't see how it changes anything. The passage quoted just says you don't need proficiency in splash weapons but the full section says expressly "a splash weapon is a ranged weapon" so the bit I quoted should still apply and Mawj getting within 5 feet gives a -4 (-8 if he also acts as cover). Edit 1: Reading it otherwise gives alchemists free precise shot which doesn't seem intended.
Assuming you think this interpretation is correct then I should hold off to avoid making Gwen's pre-Mawj possible throw harder. If not then yeah I might as well keep my higher order.
TBH the only reason I'm up on this is I needed to read the sections again thorougly to adjudicate Arjun's bombs in LOF. Prior to that I just assumed if something threatened something then there was a -4. Can't recall if this is a change from 3.5.
Edit 2: I know this exposes Mawj to AOO hell rather than Marcus. Normally I would want to take that on myself. However, in this case with all of the prior warning Marcus was honestly not expecting Mawj to leap into battle again. This is like the third time he's jumped into things without having regard to the groups plan or things people have said so I don't feel too bad about that.

Gwenyth |

Gwen heaves the plant killer at the hellish creature, squealing girlishly as she does so.
If I need to step out from behind Tun'ada to avoid soft cover, I'll do so. You can move me wherever (D9, Maybe?).
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Includes Archivist Bonus
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 + 1 splash to plants within range.

Ambroze |

Round Two:
Ambroze moves carefully across the fungus-covered floor, continuing to offer words of advice for battling the violet fungus. With a mighty heave the scholarly gnome tosses his flask of plant killer at the fiendish fungus.
Free action to continue Bardic Performance (Naturalist). Move action 10 ft to square C-5. Standard action to toss flask of plant killer at violet fungus.
Attack (ranged touch): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18 (naturalist; no penalty for firing into melee since Ambroze goes before Mawj)
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
Rounds of Bardic Performance used today: 5/17

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

The plant writhes in pain as Ambroze's thrown plant killer splatters all over it, and the vegepygmies are also struck although show little reaction despite the substance clearly wounding them. Marcus delays, trying to ensure his allies have a clear shot. Gwenyth's plant killer hits moments later, further wounding them. Then Mawj charges in fearlessly, ducking underneath a longspear only to be struck directly in the face by the fungus' tendril as a result!
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 Vegepygmy AOO (Miss)
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Violet Fungus AOO (Hit/Crit Threat)
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Damage to Mawj
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Violet Fungus AOO (Unconfirmed)
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 N/A
Mawj please make a DC17 fortitude save. Marcus, your free to act but bear in mind theres still a clear shot available on the fungus- Mawj is only in melee with a Vegepygmy.

Marcus Alanto |

Might as well delay til after Chi at this point.
Marcus follows Chi's throw, stepping up to the funghis and hacking away with sword and shield.
Move forward 5 feet.
Standard action attack.
Falcata 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 18 (nat, power attack)
1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
AC 21

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

The tendril slams home with force, but Mawj seems to be ok. Until the point of contact swiftly begins to rot away, exposing raw bone and eating away at his goblin flesh, causing him to cry out in pain...
1d4 ⇒ 1 Strength Damage
1d4 ⇒ 2 Constitution Damage (remember your Lady can heal you of these wounds).
Despite the pain, Mawj is able to chop the vegepygmy into small pieces. Chi's throw just about hits the mushroom and kills the vegepygmy next to it through splash damage. Marcus steps in and receives his own tendril attack for his troubles, the tendril attacking him pulsing bright red as it flares with fiendish power- striking hard at Marcus' face.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Hit
1d4 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Damage
Marcus the fort save will affect your attack and damage rolls- but if you pass the DC17 save you will kill the fungus with this blow, so feel free to describe it assuming you pass :).

Marcus Alanto |

Timely 20.
The tendril slams into Marcus' chin and the impact of the blow snaps his head back with near bone breaking force. The whole bottom part of his face goes numb but from somewhere deep inside he is able find the physical reserves to brush aside the strike and press forward, his falcata neatly slicing off the heavily wounded funghis' cap sending fungal matter everywhere.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

With the heavy slash, the fungus perishes instantly. You can see the last remains of Captain Ames plastered to the back wall of the cave in violet covered slime- the flesh long since dissolved but the bones remaining. The fungus around you begins to rapidly wither and die, the and vegepygmy bodies decompose, along with the corpse of the fungus itself. It seems you have conquered the blight on silent island.
250 XP each.
6PM, Day 15...

Chi T'reignial |

As the creature goes down, followed swiftly by the its guards and the withering fungus, Chi cannot contain herself, "Whoopee,Ha Ha Ha, we've done it, we've done it!" Incredulously she looks around to each of you, before running to Marcus and putting her arms around him, in the joy of the moment. "The land will return to the Lady's realm, oh we did it!" She continues to skip round, until she reaches the goblin and sees the bare bones, where his flesh rotted away. Her look is one of anguish, amongst her joy, but still she can't help but thank the gods for helping to recover the island to nature once more.
Once she calms down a little, she asks "With evening coming on soon, what shall we do, it's too late to get back to the safety of the Lady Aycenia's grove. Is it safe to stay on these islands or do we make our way to shore? "

Marcus Alanto |

Marcus wipes a big decaying gob of funghis off his cheek before accepting Chi's embrace. That plant killer stuff was amazing Chi! Its head just came clean off. Tho' maybe we shouldn't tell the tree lady exactly how we managed this part.
He eyes Mawj, obviously annoyed about something but also concerned about his injury.
Search the captain's skeleton I guess.
The sooner we can get off dead funghis island the better as far as I'm concerned. Abadar's oath this place is creepy.
Assume we can still get back to the grove provided the tide is low enough for us to navigate the causeway.

Mawj |

Mawj clutches at his skin in pain and horror. "Mawj's face! Mawj's beautiful face! What has this plant done!? Mawj needs the Lady's blessing now!" Instinctively, Uli begins carrying the goblin back towards their home.

Gwenyth |

Gwen smiles at Chi's antics.
Wait, Mawj! I can't fix the structural damage, but I can make you feel a good bit better. Everyone that was injured, gather round plase.
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
OMG, seriously...2?
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7
OK, let's go. I will be pleased to give Aycenia the good news...although I suspect she already knows of it.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

1d100 ⇒ 76
You return to Lady Aycenia's grove, a place of tranquil calm compared to the grim battles you fought on the infested island. As you approach the largest tree, Aycenia steps out from behind it with a warm smile and open arms.
Welcome back my champions. she says softly, but her face quickly changes to matronly concern as she sees Mawj's face.
Oh my poor pet! she coos, running over to Mawj and channeling her power, her fingers glowing blue briefly as she lays a hand on the wound, diminishing its size. The spell cast, she looks somewhat weary and sags against Uli, holding Mawj's head close to her chest like a mother holds a child.
1d4 ⇒ 3 Con regained (Mawj)
I have found out a little from the land about where the one called Ieana went, but I will share the information with you tomorrow. You need rest! she exclaims in a worried tone. The blighted island will be reclaimed in less than a year; you did well. she adds.
Tun'ada, Ambroze and Mawj please make a fortitude save VS disease... Take 10 treatment from Gwenyth should provide you all with a +4 bonus.
Disease 1?1d100 ⇒ 8
Disease 2?1d100 ⇒ 99
Disease 3?1d100 ⇒ 73
Disease 4?1d100 ⇒ 40
Disease 5?1d100 ⇒ 71
Disease 6?1d100 ⇒ 67
Disease 7?1d100 ⇒ 50
Disease 8?1d100 ⇒ 60
Disease 9?1d100 ⇒ 94
Disease 10?1d100 ⇒ 2
Disease 11?1d100 ⇒ 52
Ishorou Fort- 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Marcus Fort- 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Oh also- 600XP each for earning Aycenia's friendship
8PM, Day 15...

Chi T'reignial |

@Ambroze: The DC for making antiplague is 25 (same as antitoxin), Chi would have to roll a 17 or more to make it, and whith anything less than 13 would ruin the ingredients. I think she would have left her equipment back at the base camp too. So yes she can make it, but its very unlikely she would succeed. If you want to risk the resources to try, she can have a go when we get back, but it will take some time to make at 25gp a pop I think and if we can collect the right ingredients or have them to hand.
@Marcus, I have us approx 300XP short of 4th, so what does everyone else make it?

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Even if you have the XP for 4th level, i'm going to rule that you've advanced about as far as you can on this island without some proper training facilities, libraries, and some hint of civilisation.
1d3 ⇒ 3 Con damage, Ambroze
1d3 ⇒ 3 Dex damage, Ambroze
1d3 ⇒ 1 Con damage, Tun'ada
1d3 ⇒ 3 Dex damage, Tun'ada
Am I right in thinking that you don't recover ability damage from disease naturally until you shake off the disease? I'm fairly sure thats how it works, so don't heal any ability damage overnight please. Mawj, give me that fort save :).

Gwenyth |

@Marcus, I have us approx 300XP short of 4th, so what does everyone else make it?
I have been utterly terrible about keeping up with XP. I ususally look at Tun'ada's sheet, he seems to keep it fairly updated. I swear I'll start being better about it. After all, I want to be the first to harass the GM when he's withholding my just rewards :-p
Once back in the grove and satisfied that Aycenia is aware that her oath has been fulfilled, Gwen treats the diseases and injuries of the castaways and promptly falls into a deep sleep.
Alex, was there nothing of value in the plant cave? Marcus indicated that he wanted to search around the captain's corpse...

Chi, we worked out the 300 xp discrepancy back on 20-21 March. Our current xp totals should be 9036 xp following the 600 xp we gained from befriending Aycenia.
Also, we have quite a bit of undivided treasure of significant monetary value (thousands of gp-worth). If Alex will allow it, I think it would benefit those of us infected to use some of it to attempt to produce some antiplague. Otherwise, with the way we've been rolling Tun'ada and I may turn into lacedons soon...

Ambroze |

That's my take on it. Per the PRD: "Hit point and ability score damage caused by an affliction cannot be healed naturally while the affliction persists."

Marcus Alanto |

I hereby agree to the use of group treasure for the purposes of crafting anti-plague in order to prevent fellow party members from turning into ghouls and biting my face off and release, discharge and forever hold harmless said party members from any claim in respect thereof.

Excellent. Couldn't find the rule but nice to know I got it right. Yup you can try and craft alchemical items- we'll fluff it out as you gather the raw ingredients for the items from the island itself, but your coins magically get used up in the creation...

+1. Go to sleep or something, I want to house this chick and get off this island. I need 2nd level spells, dangit!
