Angry at Flute's attack, the scorpion attacks him with both pincers again, and to the Dwarf's surprise also brings its stinger to bear... The stinger and one pincer the Dwarf parries and dodges, but the remaining pincer pierces the armour, the claw bruising the Dwarf.

Round 4 Action Feedback-

James steps onto the corpse of one of his fallen foes, and cuts the stinger and rear end off of the scorpion. Flute brains one of his foes, his hammer smashing through the scorpions carapac. Gwyneth awakens and quickly blesses the group. Tun'ada quickly dispatches one of his two assailants.

A wicked, slightly unhinged grin touching his eyes, James closes on the final Scorpion to make finish it off, the exoskeletons of his former foes crunching beneath his foot.

Apologies for missing some people's actions, but this way we're out of initiative.

Chi and Tun'ada both deal lethal blows that end the lives of the scorpions.

100XP each.

The other passengers begin stirring, clearly also feeling very sick.

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

Taking an arrow, Chi sees a lone scorpion moving to attack, a mere 10ft away. Her eyes open wide with excitement as she focusses on her prey. The string is pulled back and with a whoosh, the arrow is loosed.

Ranged attack at the scorpion 10ft away. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 (including bless)

Back to the watery hells ye came from! as Flute's hammer smashes the sea scorpion. He looks to James and the two dead scorpions and says, Ye didn't dew half bad, lad!

Flute takes a 5ft step back near the water still overcoming his sickened condition but takes time to observe all around him as his mates wrap up the last of the aquatic beasties. He is looking for other signs of survivors maybe on other parts of the beach. After he takes a look, he will check on the closest, still prone ally and helps them up.

You start helping Gelik up, who croaks his thanks.

By the blood of the Last Azlant, what did you and the Chef put in that wine last night, Gwyneth? he demands.

Looking around about the beach, you realise that it is about dawn. The last thing you remember is the cook serving up food and the captain serving wine, late last night. The whole confused group of survivors takes the time to find their gear- much of it is wet, but it is all undamaged. Ishorou in particular is desperate to find his katana, and sighs in relief when it is found. Flute, you spot the Jenivere to the north- a gaping hole in her hull as she leans against a jagged cliff side among several sharp rocks. By the time the group has finished mostly equipping themselves, the sickened condition has worn off.

Anyone who wants to make a Heal check to determine why you feel sick can do so.

Male Mwangi (Caldaru) Human Ranger 3 (Shapeshifter) / Barbarian 2

Ambroze blearily opens his eyes, gazing up into the bright sunlight. His stomach roils, and he immediately rolls to his side, retching.

"Sweet Desna!" he moans. "Am I never going to get over this seasickness?

It is then that he hears the clash of weapons on chitinous carapaces. He glances over toward the commotion and sees his fellow passengers finishing a battle with... giant sea scorpions? Then he notices that they are no longer on the ship, but on some abandoned shore.

"Umm, excuse me? Can anyone tell me how we got here?" he asks aloud. "The last thing I remember is we were eating dinner on the ship.

Gwen looks around, clearly frightened and still panicked

Er det noen som trenger å bli helbredet?

Celestial:
Does anyone require Healing?

Feels bad man.

Flute tries to lighten the mood by jokingly asks.. Well this is what happens when ye let an Elf steer tha ship..lads He smiles and chuckles a bit to himself as he gathers his gear.

Speakin' of tha ship.. we should prolly check it out for any more o' us.

Male Human Invulnerable Barbarian 2

With the last beast slain the wild abandon that had filled James throughout the fight seems to gradually flow out of him, leaving him panting for breath as the exertion catches up with him. The mad glint leaves his eyes, and as they return to their usual expression of reserved contemplation he glances around to take stock of the situation.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

"Thanks..." he mutters back to Flute, "you're... you were on the ship. Flute right? James." He holds out a hand to shake with the Dwarf, a strained smile touching his mouth, making it twitch at the corners. It's obvious he is unused to this kind of social courtesy.

James heads over to the pile, where he searches for and gathers his gear, before looking up as Flute points out the Jennivere. "By the gods," he says, this time loud enough that most people would hear, "what in Cayden's name happened? How long where we out?!" This is probably the most the majority of you have heard James speak in one go since he boarded in Cheliax. He nods in agreement with Flute before turning to Tun'ada.

"Anything more here we can use?"

Survival Assist: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Gwen, it should be fairly obvious to see James needs healing, he took the most damage of everyone but appears to be ignoring it. However, he's a little awkward with non-Shoanti people and so is not yet approaching the cooks assistant who seems to be babbling nonsense.

Male Dwarf Druid 1

Aye, lad! Well met, James. Flute grabs James' forearm in a strong dwarven handshake. We had a dinner and apparently we letta durned elf steer tha ship or somethin equally as stupid. Lets get ready and look for more survivors.Flute doesn't understand the oracle at all... but he is used to hearing foreign languages since he left Janderhoff.

Male Human Invulnerable Barbarian 2

James returns the handshake strongly, grabbing Flute's forearm in return, his smile reaching his eyes as he does so. He seems to be more at home with this kind of greeting. "I remember that much... don't know anything about Elves, but I'd hate to leave somebody alive in that wreckage. The real question is... how are we all here, with all our things? I recognise everyone from the ship at some point, this all seems too convenient." James becomes a little distant again at this point, as though he knows he should think, but not what about.

Female Human Oracle 4

Gwenyth kneels in the sand, clearly attempting to compose herself. After a few minutes, she walks calmly to the pile of equipment and retrieves hers. She maintains a deathgrip on her crossbow, but otherwise seems much more composed.

I apologize, everyone - something odd has been happening with me lately. When I become agitated, I cannot understand what anyone is saying, and it's becoming clear to me that I am equally incomprehensible.

Regardless, the gods - if that indeed who it is - have seemingly blessed me in other ways. When I called out for aid a moment ago, I felt a power coursing through me. I believe I can channel this energy in a restoritive fashion, if need be. Will everyone kindly gather round?

Once everyone is gathered around, Gwenyth wil Channel Energy[i].

Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5

[i]With the deed done, Gwen shivers from the expenditure of the divine energy.

I... aaa.. aagree. I a...also am curious as to h.. h... how we got here. Anyone have any ideas?

Your Humble Narrator

Strangely, none of you are particularily wet- you definitely didn't drift onto shore with the waves- and it seems odd that all your equipment was here waiting for you. Tun'Ada and James find evidence of a set of humanoid footprints leading to and from the water along with a fair number of furrows leading up to where you awoke, suggesting that someone dragged you all up from the water’s edge.

Tun'ada and Ambroze, you deduce your still a couple of days sailing away from the mainland. Based on what you knew of the ship's course, you believe you have shipwrecked on an island known as Smuggler's Shiv.

Nice to see the RP flowing, don't let my posts interrupt it :). Those who are able may make knowledge (geography, history, and local) checks to determine what they know of Smuggler's Shiv.

There are no signs of the rest of the crew, or the scholar Ieana.

Gwyneth, you detect the aftermath of high concentrations of poison in all of you- the effects are now passing. This poisoning likely explains the lack of memories people seem to have of last night.

All but Chi-:

There is a strange Elf you have not seen before also present, holding a longbow retrieved from the stash of items.

The prisoner Jask sighs as he watches you all gather your equipment.

I too could see to your wounds, were it not for my manacles, and the fact that MY equipment doesn't seem to have been left with us.

Silence, prisoner. So- what happened? We shipwrecked? Ishorou asks, assuming a guard position over Jask, katana held in his hands.

Female Human Oracle 4

We were poisoned, everyone... the Gods answered me with this knowledge a moment ago. Who are you? she asks the unfamiliar elf. I don't remember you from the ship.

I believe that might be directed at you, Chi :-)

Gwenyth wrote:

Great, just what we need...Ethan from Lost.

Fear no treachery from her, I can vouch for her presence on the ship! Jask quickly says, before Ishorou plants a boot into the man's back, pushing him to his knees.

Well... At least we're all still alive hmm? Sasha says brightly with a cheerful smile. You've rarely seen Sasha display much open emotion, and she always seems extremely optimistic.

SHIPWRECKED?! Aerys screeches, before frantically searching through the remaining equipment. By Calistria, I need a drink...

Male Human Invulnerable Barbarian 2

Being the son of a medicine woman, James has seen such abilities before, albeit rarely. While he finds it difficult to unravel the girl's flowery words, he appreciates the value of the gifts she brings, and seeing her as something akin to a shaman deigns to kneel while she gives her blessing. In the north it is not unknown for children to bear such gifts, and those that do are fiercely protected.

"That may explain why I was the first to wake," James mutters to Gwenyth, "I am... strong against such things." Feeling a little out of place no that everyone is talking, James stands at Gwenyth's side like a big dog. With nothing else to follow a sign from the Gods seems something that should not be ignored.

Male Dwarf Druid 1

To everyone: I know a bit aboot healin' meself if anyone's in trouble.

As Flute gets his gear he goes around and talks a bit.
To James:Elves and me kind have a long long history... and how come thar be a new ELVEN face in tha wreckage with us?

To Gwenyth: Poisoned ye say? Well, frost my beard! Anyways... Tis' alright miss aboot ye speech. Ye been blessed indeed...I must say I'm a bit curious of ye.. but thats for later. Now its time for rescuin'!

Your Humble Narrator

Just as a note so you know- its mid-summer at the moment.

Also, a minor note on the NPC castaways, direct quote from the Chapter 1 Book-

"Each NPC castaway has an initial attitude toward the PCs dependent on the PCs’ backgrounds. The PCs can attempt a Diplomacy check to adjust a given NPC castaway’s attitude beyond this initial attitude once per day. (The Intimidate skill is a temporary solution that fades after 1d6 × 10 minutes and resets an NPC’s attitude back to unfriendly.) Since the management of these NPCs is a key part of the adventure, you should award experience points to the PCs for their successes."

Ambroze:

Smuggler’s Shiv is a notorious island north of Eleder. It’s not shown on most maps, but is rightfully feared by those who ply the waters of Desperation Bay. The island is named not only for the knife-like shape of its coastline, but for its uncanny habit of wrecking ships that draw too near—mostly smugglers eager to avoid detection by Sargava’s navy.

It’s commonly believed that the shores of Smuggler’s Shiv are haunted by the ghosts and ghouls of the sailors who have died on the jagged rocks and reefs surrounding the island. These rumors are supported by reports of several failed attempts to establish long-lasting colonies on the remote island.

When Sargava was first settled, Chelish engineers erected a lighthouse on the Shiv’s southwest shore. The light was intended to warn approaching ships of the dangerous waters and, eventually, was to have been the first building in a small colony. The light and all plans for colonization were abandoned just before completion amid rumors of curses, haunts, and cannibalism.

Rumors hold that a group of shipwrecked Chelish soldiers, survivors of an attempted Thrune invasion of Sargava some 70 years ago, were stranded on the island. The rumors claim that they degenerated into a cannibalistic society, and that their descendants scour the isle’s shores for shipwreck victims to add to their meals.

(If you want to just re-tell this word for word point people to the spoiler.)

Edit: Added a little more, see the last paragraph.

Ambroze recalls a bit of the information he learned about Smuggler's Shiv, and recounts it to the others, his tone becoming a bit like that of an academic lecturer.

"Smuggler’s Shiv is a notorious island north of Eleder. It’s not shown on most maps, but is rightfully feared by those who ply the waters of Desperation Bay. Ambroze's voice slows as he says the last sentence, and he looks around the shore worriedly as if he expects wild cannibals to burst out of the sand at any moment.

(In case you haven't noticed, Ambroze likes to cast Wall of Text.)

Following his impromptu lecture regarding the island and its most notorious dangers, Ambroze looks around at the other people present, trying to take stock of who is present. "Has anyone seen Ieana?" he asks aloud of no one in particular.

Seeing several of the others talking amongst themselve, he approaches Ghelik, who seems to be standing a bit apart from the others.

"Master Gelik, are you alright?" Ambroze asks concernedly as he approaches the other gnome whom he had gotten to know a bit following their departure from Magnimar. "Are you feeling any better?" (Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19)

I feel fine now. Although our current sitution is somewhat dire... Gelik mutters.

Alex, can we tell which side of the island we are on?

Female Human Oracle 4

Whispered to James:

Good man, my previous interactions with the prisoner do not lead me to believe that he is guilty of the charge levied against him. He seems more trustworthy and honest than many of those assembled here. You are welcome to your own opinions, of course, but I do not sense danger from him.

Ishorou, while I thank you for your strong sense of responsibility regarding our prisoner, his words and his input in this matter would be appreciated. Might he be able to speak?

If it's dawn, then I would presume yes. We just check where the sun is coming up from.

To your north, the sea. To your east and west, the island stretches along the coast. To your south, the jungle terrain begins. From what you recall of the island it was shaped very loosely like a horizontally flipped S shape. The Jenivere is visible to the north-west of you.

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

Chi putting her bow and quiver safely on her, stays with Jask, helping him to readjust to the light after all those days spent in the brig, with just candles and lamps to light the gloom. She looks around the rest of the survivors, seeing if there is anyone she might recognise, like Rambar the cook. Slowly it starts to come back to her, the 'magnificent meal' in celebration of nearing the journey's end. She spits on the yellow sand beneath her sandalled feet and says under her breath. "Treacherous human scum." Her face shows her anger, as she picks up Jask by his hand, "Umm, sorry not directed at you, but some of your kind are indeed not to be trusted. This having spent so much time enjoying myself serving a master for no reward except my life. But you've heard my story, nows not the time." Chi gradually gets control of her emotions and focusses on her current predicament, surrounded by strangers, only two people she knows, let alone if she can trust them. But this is the hand she has been dealt, best keep her own counsel and see what transpires. "Jask, you OK, it would seem we've eaten sometime that didn't agree with us. Funny though, all our belonging are here, best get yours, though I doubt you'd want to keep the manacles."

Together they join the mass of ex-passengers and retrieve their belongings from the pile. In all this time a ginger cat has watched the antics of the higher beings, smiling to itself and thinking it will be time to hunt soon, out of the constrains of that boat and its other vermin passengers, rats. It will be a change to have some different tasty morsel. A ginger paw extends as a pink tongue cleans off the dirty sand. Chi looks over to the cat, a warmth embraces her heart, she can at least trust the cat.

Ishorou shrugs and lowers his eyes, which you assume is a gesture of consent.
